People who pass away often return to the same household to be born there once again!
A story to this effect is very famous.
A sanyasi mahatma offered to teach a rich gentleman how to try to obtain liberation.
But this man was vry much attached to his family and refused to go with the mahatma.
After sometime, the rich man died and was born in the same household as a male calf.
It grew up to become a sturdy ox and worked hard for the family day and night.
The same sanyasi walked past again and recognized the soul of the richman in the ox.
He offered again to help it obtain mukti and the ox refused again.
The sanyasi went away silently.
After many years the ox died and was born again as a dog in the same family.
It guarded the house and the people living in it very well.
Time rolled by and the same sanyasi walked past again.
He recognised the soul of the rich man in the dog an offered to help it to obtain mukti.
The dog refused to go with the sanyasi as it was still very much attached to the members of the family.
The dog died and was born as a snake in the same household.
This time the embers of the household were scared of the snake and killed it promptly.
The sanyasi walked past and renewed his offer for helping to obtain mukthi.
After being killed by the same persons for whom he had worked as an ox and a dog,
the rich man finally understood the truth and the myth and about life and death.
The soul quietly accompanied the sanayasin this time seeking to be liberated once for all.
