"Any being (-) the spark of life = A thing
When we put to use the proper words the above statement becomes
A Jeeva (-) Its Jeevan = A mere Jadam
Is it not the greatest irony that 'a mere jadam' is questioning
the existence and intelligence of the infinite Sun
which has given a spark of Itself - and made the jadam into a jeeva!"
There are 'assumptions' and 'presumptions' in the above statement.
The 'assumption' is that the 'soul' or 'consciousness', within a 'human being', on this planet called 'earth' by us, is but a 'spark' of the 'Divine'!
This is the 'notion' of 'theology' around the world! They treat the 'body' made up of the 'tangible' gross elements of the earth and the finer 'senses' (of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch) and the finer still 'mind' (used conventionally to denote our 'intangible' faculties of 'cognition', 'volition' and 'emotion' -- or, to use more common words -- our general perception and associated thoughts, feelings and will power -- which in themselves are not 'tangible') -- as simply 'material' or 'jadam' as observed above!
The 'presumption' is that without a 'Creator' to 'breathe life' or 'soul' or 'consciousness' into the 'jadam', it will simply remain a 'jadam', an 'inert material' or just a 'thing'!
[The use of the word, 'Sun' to denote the 'Creator' may not be 'appropriate' here for the 'Sun' itself is a 'material body', more like a 'Nuclear Reactor' with 'nuclear fission' and 'fusion' processes going on there, unless it is considered, as in ancient times, as a 'God' itself, that is, at a period of human history when all the aspects of 'Nature' -- all the natural forces and all the natural elements -- were considered as various 'Gods' doing their functions as assigned by an 'unifying principle' called 'Brahman' over and above the 'trinity of Gods', who stood for 'creation, preservation and destruction' of all 'animate beings' and 'inanimate things' in this world.]
The 'doubt' arises whether these 'assumptions' and 'presumptions' are correct or they are simply accepted as 'axiomatic truths' on the basis of 'religious tenets' or 'scriptures' and a whole 'edifice' of a 'belief system' built on them thereafter, which obscures and rejects fundamental queries as to their validity from being raised in a public forum?
As an analogy, I would give the 'assumptions' and 'presumptions' in the field of 'astrology' and the proponents thereof who claim to be able to 'predict' the future course of an individual's life or claim to be able to match the 'compatibility' of a prospective 'bride' and 'groom' to live a 'married life' together! The 'assumption' there is our lives on earth are 'pre-determnined' according to our 'karma' and the 'presumption' there is that in some way (without the same being explained as to how) the 'conjunction' of the sun, moon, a few other planets, against the backdrop of a few known stars visible to the naked eye on a clear night, can somehow help in 'predicting' the future course of one's life or the 'compatibility' to each other of a couple for a married life together! No verifiable records exist for these assertions and no verifiable proof has been found in modern times, but these 'assumptions' and 'presumptions' continue to rule our lives! Or, we ourselves allow them to rule our lives in an unqustioning manner!
