It is a quotation from 'De Augmentis Scientiarum' by Francis Bacon.

I should have given his name below the quote.

Silence Is a virtue to everyone, but more so to a person who knows nothing and hence has nothing useful to convey to others.

Then, the preposition 'for' rather than 'of' will be more appropriate. To be more elaborate, the sentence could have been rephrased as "Silence is a virtue as far as fools are concerned'.

I don't disagree with you. But, the sentence "Silence is the virtue of fools" implies that whosoever observes silence is a fool. Here the definite article 'the' has made all the difference.

Silence of a well informed, educated and knowledgeable person IS a 'crime'.

If the minister, whose job is to guide the king keeps mum, the kingdom will be

ruined. So it can be summarizes thus.

Bad things will happen when

people who are not supposed to talk start talking (and also when)

people who are supposed to talk stop talking.

who has illustrated and published all my articles in English and
my poems in Tamil, in my blogs.
