re 302
dear raji,
one kutty request. in future, can you please pr msg me if you have a specific request. the only reason being, that i do not visit all posts, and many a times, i might miss a specific post directed at me.
a private msg would ensure a reply. hope you don't mind.
re the content of the post: yes, the salesclerks in canada too, look at the cash register, even for the simplest amounts. it appears to be an automatic reaction and also i suspect, that it is a mechanical action done void of any thinking.
the brain will only work when we ask it to work, n'est pas?
incidentally, without meaning to hurt any nationality, i have found the chinese store clerks here in toronto, more attuned to using their brains, and able to handle special requests like yours.
incidentally my wife is of the same, ie eager to dispense with loose change and also reluctant to break paper currencies unless she has to.
the chinese clerks particularly the girls always cheerfully deal with such requests. the whites or the blacks appear unable to decipher her request in the first place, and it takes a lot of explaining. whatever may be the reason, indian kids, as a rule, do not appear to take retail part time jobs.
surprisingly, i see nowadays, even in chennai, where there are automatic cash registers, the counter clerks automatically tend to look at the cash register prior to dispensing with change.
