3#19d. The bride’s ideas

All the kings reached the swayamvara mandapam decorated beautifully. They looked like the Devas sitting on their thrones. The musical instruments like veena, maththlam and others were played pleasingly.

The bride was decorated in new silk, gold ornaments and fresh flower garlands. But her face was very sad. The queen asked her, “Why are you so sad my dear girl? Go to the mandapam with a garland and select an excellent king for your husband.

Sasikala had her own ideas about her wedding and told her mother, “I will not go to the mandapam with a garland in front of the assembled kings. Each of them will look at me as a prospective bride, with lust-filled eyes.

I will be made to feel like a woman put up for sale. I can’t do it. It does not befit a pativratha. This has been happening long since. All the same I do not approve of it. I have already selected my husband. Please perform my wedding with Sudarsanan immediately.”

Sasikala begged her mother – the queen.

9#13c. கங்கையும், ராதையும் (3)

"ராச மண்டலத்தில், வசந்த காலத்தில்,
ரத்தின தீபம் உள்ள ரத்தின மாளிகையில்,

இருந்தினீர் நீர் கோபி காந்தியை மஞ்சத்தில்
அளித்தீர் ரத்தின ஆபரணங்களை அவளுக்கு.

அளித்தாள் தாம்பூலத்தை அவள் உமக்கு!
ஒளிந்தாள் உங்கள் ஜாலம் வெளிப்பட்டதும்!

மாறிவிட்டாள் சத்குண ரூபியாக காந்தி;
பிரித்து அளித்தீர் நீர் அந்த சத்குணத்தை

ஆரண்யம், லக்ஷ்மி, யமன், தபஸ்விகள்;
தர்மசீலர், மந்திர உபாசகர், வள்ளல்களுக்கு!

கூடிக் களித்தீர் க்ஷமை என்ற கோபியுடன்;
கூடல் இன்பத்தில் உறங்கியே விட்டர்கள்!

எழுப்பினேன் நான் உங்கள் இருவரையும்;
எழுந்த கோபத்தினால் பறித்துக் கொண்டேன்

பீதாம்பரம், வனமாலை, குண்டலம், முரளி,
கௌஸ்துபமணி என ஒன்றையும் விடாமல்!

ஒதுங்கினீர் கூச்சத்தில் நீர் கிருஷ்ண வர்ணமாகி!
பதுங்கினாள் க்ஷமை பூமியின் உன்னத,குணமாகி!

பிரித்து அளித்து விட்டீர் உன்னத குணத்தை
தர்மசீலர்கள், மஹா விஷ்ணு, வைஷ்ணவர்,

வள்ளல்கள், பலஹீனர்கள், தபஸ்விக்கள்
தேவர்கள், பண்டிதர்கள், முதலியவர்களுக்கு.

நன்கு அறிவேன் நான் உமது லீலைகளை!
நன்கு அறிவேன் நான் உமது ஜாலங்களை!"

9#13c. RAdha and Ganga (3)

RAdha Devi continues to take to task her lord in this manner:

I saw you in love with the Gopi ShAnti in RAsa Mandalam. In the spring season You were sleeping on a bed of flowers with Gopi ShAnti, in a temple made of gems and pearls and illuminated by a lamp made of of jewels.

You were then chewing the betel leaves given by you beloved ShAnti. Hearing me coming there, you ran away. ShAnti also out of fear and shame disappeared in you. Thus ShAnti became one of the noblest qualities.

You divided and distributed ShAnti among forests, BrahmA, Me, Lakshmi, your Mantra worshipers, ascetics, Dharma and the religious persons.

Fifthly, You were sleeping with Gopi KshamA happily, on a nice bed of flowers. You were over-powered by sleep so that when I went and disturbed you, the two of you did not get up from the sweet sleep.

I took away your yellow silk, the beautiful flute, garlands made of forest flowers, Kaustubha gem, and invaluable earrings made of pearls and gems.

Your body turned black with sin and shame. Out of shame KshaMa went down to the earth. KshamA became the reservoir of the best qualities.

You divided and distributed KshaMa to VishNu, VaishnavA, Dharma, the religious persons, the weak persons, the ascetics, the Devas and the literary persons.

I have described all your qualities as far as I know. You may have many more qualities and I may not be aware of them. "

BHAARGAVA PURANAM - PART 1

#14a. ருக்மாங்கதன்-5

அரசனைக் காணாது திரும்பிச் சென்றவர்கள்
அரசனைத் தேடக் கானகம் வந்தனர் மறுநாள்.

நாரத முனிவருடன் அரசனைக் கண்டனர்
கூறினார் அவனைப் பணிந்து வணங்கி,

“தங்களைக் காணாது தவித்தும் நேற்று
தங்களைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தோம் இன்று.

கானகத்தில் நிகழ்ந்தது என்ன மன்னா?
வானவர் மயங்கும் உருவம் மாறியதேன்?”

நடந்த கதையைக் கூறிய ருக்மாங்கதன்
நடக்கப்போவதையும் கூறினான் பின்னர்.

“சென்று கதம்பவனம் சேருவேன் இப்போதே!
வென்று கொடிய நோயைத் திரும்புவேன் நாடு!”

சிந்தாமணித் தீர்த்தத்தில் மூழ்கி எழுந்தான்;
சிந்தாமணி விநாயகரைத் தொழுது நின்றான்;

தந்தை உபதேசித்த மந்திரத்தை ஜபித்தான்;
விந்தை காணீர்! மறைந்தது வெண்குஷ்டம்!

விமானத்தில் வந்தனர் தேவகணங்கள்,
“விநாயகர் அழைக்கிறார் வருக மன்னா!”

“கிடைத்தற்கரிய பெருமை இது எனினும்
விடமுடியாது வயது முதிர்ந்த பெற்றோரை!”

“தாய், தந்தையரை எண்ணி நீராடுங்கள்!
வாய்க்கும் அவர்களுக்கும் இந்தப் பெருமை.”

தீர்த்தமாடி எழுந்தனர் அரசனும், மற்றோரும்.
ஆர்வத்துடன் அடைந்தனர் கௌண்டின்யபுரம்.

வந்தன விமானங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் – ஏறிச்
சென்றனர் விண்ணுலகம் விநாயகரிடம்!

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 1

14a. RukmAngathan

The soldiers who went back home after searching for their king returned to the forest the next day. They were happy too see RukmAngathan along with DEva rushi NArada. They were shocked by the change in the appearance of the king and wished to know what had happened in the forest the previous day.

RukmAngathan told them the incidents that took place. He told them, “I am going to the ChintAmani theertham right now. I shall get cured of this dreadful disease and come back to our country.”

He took a dip in the ChintAmani theertham. He worshiped the ChintAmani VinAyaka. He chanted the mantra taught by his father. The terrible disease disappeared and he was as handsome as ever before.

A VimAnam came down and the DEvA riding it invited the King to the Land of VinAyaka. The king replied, “It is an honor to meet Lord VinAyaka. But I can’t desert my aged parents down here.”

“Take a dip again thinking of all the people you want to be with you. The king and the soldiers took a dip thinking of their family and loved ones. They went back to KouNdinya puram. VimAnams came down for everyone. They all left heavenwards to the Land of VinAyaka.

3#20a. தர்ம சங்கடம்

“சுயம்வரத்துக்கு அழைத்து விட்டு இப்போது
சுயம்வரம் இல்லை என்பது தர்மம் ஆகுமா ?

வந்துள்ளார்கள் பலசாலி மன்னர்கள் ஒன்றாக!
வந்துள்ளார்கள் ஆள், அம்பு, சேனைகளுடன்!

மகள் வரித்துவிட்டாள் மணாளனை என்றால்
முதல் பலிகடா ஆவேன் நான் அவர்களிடம்.

படை வலிமையில் ஈடு இல்லை நான் போரில்!
பாதுகாப்பான கோட்டை இல்லை என்னிடம்!

சேனையில்லை சுதர்சனனிடம் சிறிதளவும்!
தானே வந்துள்ளான் தனியாளாக இங்கு,”

புலம்பினான் சுபாஹு தன் ராணியிடம்;
கலங்கினான் என நடக்குமோ இனி என.

வருவது வரட்டும் என்று துணிந்தான் சுபாஹு;
வரவு தந்திருந்த அரசர்களிடம் கூறினான் சுபாஹு.

“அறிவுறுத்தினோம் நானும் ராணியும் மகளுக்கு.
வர மறுக்கிறாள் உங்கள் முன்னிலையில் மகள்.

ஏறெடுத்தும் பார்க்க மாட்டளாம் உங்களை!
ஏற்கனவே வரித்து விட்டாளாம் கணவனை!

முத்திரைப் பொன்னைத் தருகின்றேன் பரிசாக.
ரத்தினக் குவியலைத் தருகிறேன் என் பரிசாக.

அன்புடன் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வீர் பரிசுகளை.
பண்புடன் வாழ்த்துவீர் மணமக்களை”

அமர்ந்திருந்தனர் அனைவரும் அமைதியாக;
ஆக்ரோஷம் கொண்டு எழுந்தான் யுதாஜித்!

கோபத்துடன் கொதித்து எழுந்தவன் பேச்சு
கோபத்தைத் தூண்டவல்லது பிறரிடமும்.

3#20a. The Dilemma

King Subaahu felt troubled by his daughter’s refusal to enter the swayamvara mandapam. He told his queen,

” All the kings have gathered here for the swayamvaram. They have come with their armies and armaments. If I go and tell them now that there will no swayamvaram and that my daughter had already selected her husband, I will become the first victim to their anger.

I am no match to them in the strength of my army. Nor do I have strong fortress to withstand their siege. Sudrasanan has no army of his own. He has come here all alone by himself.

Then he gathered enough courage to face the unpleasant consequences. He went to the kings and spoke to them,

“My queen and I tried our best to make the princess understand her responsibility. But she refuses to come here in front of you. She says she has already selected her husband and will not walk before you exhibiting herself.

I shall present you with pure gold coins and heaps of precious gems. Kindly accept my humble gifts and bless my daughter.”All the kings sat there transfixed by the sudden and unexpected twist of the event.

Yudaajit sprang up in anger and talked in such a manner that he was sure to arouse the anger in all the other kings who were present there.

#1619. உழவன் உழவு ஒழிவான்

உழவன் உழ, உழ, வானம் வழங்க,
உழவன் உழவினில் பூத்த குவளை
உழவன் உழத்தியர் கண் ஒக்கும் என்றிட்டு
உழவன் அதனை உழவு ஒழிந் தானே

ஞான சாதனை செய்பவன் விருப்பத்துடன் அதனை மேன் மேலும் தீவிரமாகச் செய்வான். வான மண்டலம் அதனால் மேன் மேலும் விகசிக்கும். ஒரு நீல நிற ஒளி தோன்றும். சாதகன் அது அருள் மிகுந்த சக்தியின் ஒளி என்று அறிந்து கொள்வான். மேலும் சாதனை செய்யத் தேவை இல்லை அதனால் அவன் சக்தியின் அருளில் நாட்டம் கொள்வான்.

#1620. பார் துறந்தார்க்குப் பதம்

மேல்துறந்து அண்ணல் விளங்குஒளி கூற்றுவன்
நாள்துறந்தார்க்கு அவன் நண்பன், அவாவிலி,
கார்துறந்தார்க்கு அவன் கண்ணுதலாய் நிற்கும்
பார்துறந்தார்க்கே பதம்செய லாமே

சிவன் அனைத்தையும் துறந்து விட்டவன்; அவன் மேலே ஒளிரும் ஒளியாக இருந்து கொண்டு அனைவருக்கும் வழி காட்டுபவன்; அவன் எல்லோருக்கும் நண்பன்; எந்த ஆசையும் இல்லாதவன். இருளாகிய அஞ்ஞானத்தை விட்டு விட்டு ஞானத்தைத் தேடுபவருக்குத் தன் நெற்றிக் கண்ணால் அருள்பவன். உலக ஆசைகளை முற்றிலுமாகத் துறந்தவர்களுக்கே அவன் தன் திருவடிகளைத் தருவான்.

#1621. உடம்பு இடம் ஆமே

நாகமும் ஒன்று படம் ஐந்து நால் அது
போகமும் புற்றில் பொருந்தி நிறைந்தது ;
ஆகம் இரண்டும் படம் விரித்து ஆட்டு ஒழிந்து,
ஏகப் படம் செய்து உடம்பு இடம் ஆமே.

குண்டலினி சக்தி என்னும் நாகம் ஒன்று. அதன் ஐந்து படங்கள் ஐம்பொறிகள் ஆகும். அந்தக்கரணங்கள் நான்கும் இவற்றுடன் தொடர்பு கொண்டு போகம் அடைகின்றன. இது புற்றுப்போன்ற உலக அனுபவங்களில் நிறைந்துள்ளது. பருவுடல் நுண்ணுடல் இரண்டிலும் இது படம் எடுத்து ஆடும். எப்போது குண்டலினி சக்தி சிற்சக்தியுடன் இணைந்து விடுகின்றதோ அப்போது இது ஆடுவதை விட்டு விடும். இரண்டு படங்களையும் ஒன்றாக்கி விட்டு உடலை இடமாகக் கொண்டு கிடக்கும்.

#1622. நயன்தான் வரும் வழி

அகன்றார் வழி முதல் ஆதிப் பிரானும்
இவன்தான் என நின்ற எளியனும் அல்லன்;
சிவன்தாள் பல பல சீவனும் ஆகும்
நயன்தான் வரும் வழி நாம் அறியோமே.

துறவு மேற்கொண்டவர்களில் முதல்வன் சிவன் ஆவான். ‘இவனே அவன்!’ என்று சுட்டிக் காட்டும் அளவுக்கு அவன் எளிமையானவன் அல்லன். சீவனுக்குச் சிவன் அருளைப் பெறப் பல பல பிறவிகள் தேவைப்படலாம். நயந்து அவன் நம்மிடம் வரும் வழியை நம்மால் அறிந்து கொள்ள முடியுமா?

சீவனின் பக்குவத்துக்கு ஏற்ப சிவன் அருள் புரிவான். இலயம் விரும்புபவர்களுக்கு இலயம் அளிப்பன். போகம் விரும்பியவருக்குப் போகம் அளிப்பான். அதிகாரத்தை விரும்பியவருக்கு அதிகாரம் தருவான்.

#1623. உலகம் கசக்கும்

தூம்பு திறந்தன ஒன்பது வாய்தலும்,
ஆம்பற் குழலியின் கஞ்சுளிபட்டது,
வேம்பேறி நோக்கினென், மீகாமன் கூரையில்,
கூம்பு எறிக் கோவில் பழுக்கின்ற வாறே.

அற்புதமான அந்த வழி திறந்துவிட்டவுடன், உடலின் ஒன்பது வாயில்களும் ஆம்பல் மலர்களைச் சூடிய அன்னையின் அருளால் அடைபட்டுவிடும். உடலின் அனுபவம் முடிந்து விடும். உலகம் கசந்து விடும். அதுவரை உடலைச் செலுத்தி வந்த ஆன்மா தலை உச்சியில் மேல் தலைவன் விளங்கும் சகசிர தளத்தில் தானும் அமைந்து விளங்கும்.

தண்ணீரிலிருந்து தோன்றியவள் கங்கை;
தண்ணீரிலேயே மறைந்து போய்விட்டாள்!

நதி நீரை அள்ளிக் குடிக்க முயன்றாள் ராதை;
நதி நீர் மறைந்தது கிருஷ்ணின் திருவடிகளில்.

தேடினாள் கங்கையை எங்கெங்கும் ராதை!
வாடினாள் நீர்வாழ் ஜந்துக்கள் இறந்ததால்!

நீரின்றி வாடினர் தேவர்கள், மனிதர்கள்
நாகர், முனிவர், மும்மூர்த்தியர், மனுக்கள்

துதித்தனர் கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மாவை ஒன்றாக.
தோன்றினான் பரமாத்மா பற்பல ரூபங்களில்!

அறிய முடியவில்லை பிரம்மனால் பகவானை!
பிரியத்தோடு தொழுதான் இதயத்தில் உள்ளவனை!

9#13d. Radha and ganga (3)

Having spoken thus, the red-lotus eyed RAdhA began to rebuke GangA who was sitting by the side of KrishNA with Her head bent low out of shame.

At this time GangA, a Siddha Yogini, disappeared from the assembly in Her own form as water. Another Siddha Yogini RAdhA became ready to drink the whole water in one sip.

GangA, took refuge and entered into KrishNA's feet. Then RAdhA began searching for GangA everywhere.

First She searched in Goloka, Vaikuntha and BrahmA-loka. Then she searched for Ganga in all the Lokas one by one but no where did She find GangA. There was no water anywhere in Goloka!

All the water bodies dried up mud and all the aquatic animals died and lay scattered on the dry ground. BrahmA, VishNu, Siva, Ananta, Dharma, Indra, Moon, Sun, Manus, Munis, Siddhas, ascetics all became very thirsty and their throats became parched.

They then went to Goloka, and bowed down with devotion to Krishna paramAtma. They began to sing his hymns. They were filled with intense devotion and tears of love flowed from their eyes! Their bodies were filled with ecstasy and their hairs stood on their roots.

Manus, Munis, and the ascetics all bowed down to Krishna BhagavAn no sooner they beheld Him. BrahmA was given the task of communicating their feelings to BhagavAn.

#14b. கிருச்சதமர்-1

ருக்மாங்கதன் நிராகரித்த முகுந்தை
வெட்கம்கெட்டு அலைந்தாள் வனத்தில்.

வேதனை தந்தது அரசனின் உருவெளி!
சோதனை ஆனது உயிருடன் வாழ்வது!

தேவேந்திரன் கண்ணுற்றான் அவளை
வேதனையைப் போக்க செய்தான் முடிவு.

ருக்மாங்கதன் உருவில் அருகில் வரவே
சிக்கல் தீர்ந்தது என ஆரத் தழுவினாள்;

கிள்ளை மொழிகள் பேசினாள் அவனிடம்;
கொள்ளை இன்பம் தந்தாள், பெற்றாள்.

தாபம் தீர்ந்ததும் சென்றான் இந்திரன்.
பாவம் செய்தவள் அடைந்தாள் கர்ப்பம்.

கவி முனி அறியவில்லை நடந்தவற்றை;
புவி மேல் மிதந்தார் தன் குழந்தை என!

ஆண் மகவை ஈன்றாள் அந்த முகுந்தை;
பேணினர் கிருச்சதமர் என்ற பெயரிட்டு.

ஆறாவது வயதில் நடந்தது உபநயனம்
ஆர்வத்துடன் கற்றுத் தேர்ந்தான் குழந்தை.

கணேச மந்திரத்தைக் கற்று ஓதினான்!
குணவானாகக் கீர்த்தியுடன் வாழ்ந்தான்.

மகத நாட்டில் குழுமினர் முனிவர்கள்;
சகல விஷயங்களையும் விவாதித்தனர்.

போட்டி தொடங்கியது இருவர் இடையே;
போட்டி போட்டவர் அத்ரி, கிருச்சதமர்.

வெல்ல முடியவில்லை அத்ரி போட்டியில்!
சொல்ல முடியவில்லை தோற்று விட்டதாக!

“வாதம் செய்யும் தகுதி இல்லை உனக்கு!
வாதம் நிகழ்வது முனிவர்கள் இடையே

அரசனுக்குப் பிறந்த நீ அரசகுமாரன்!
அரசன் மகன் முனிகுமாரன் ஆவனா?”

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 1

#14b. Kruchchadamar – 1

Scorned by King RukmAngathan, Mukundai roamed in the forest completely disappointed. The figure of the king appeared in her mind and drove her mad with unfulfilled desire. Suddenly she found life too difficult to bear with.

Indra saw her and decided to put an end to her suffering. He assumed the form of RukmAngathan and went near her. Mukundai thought that RukmAngathan had changed his mind and returned to her with love.

She hugged him and whispered to him sweet nothings. She gave him immense pleasure and in that process got her desire sated.

Indra in the guise of the king RukmAngathan left after Mukundai’s desire was fulfilled. She became pregnant due to this strange encounter. Kavi muni never suspected anything amiss and felt elated thinking that the baby was his own.

In due course Mukundai delivered a male child. He was named as Krichchadamar and brought up with love. That child was extremely brilliant.

His upanayanam was performed in his sixth year and the boy learned everything with interest. He learned the GanEsa mantra and soon earned a good name and fame.

Once all the rushis went to Magada kingdom. They were discussing various things. Athri and Kruchchadamar got into an argument. Athri argued but could not win over Kruchchadamar.

But he did not want to accept his defeat either. He got up in the sabha filled with rushis and spoke to Kruchchadamar thus: “Debates should take place between the sons of rushis. You are the son of a king. So you a prince and not the son of a sage”

3#20b. யுதாஜித்

“அறிவற்ற மன்னனே! என்ன சொல்கின்றாய்?
வரச் சொன்னாய் இச்சா சுயம்வரத்துக்கு இங்கு!

பரிசுகள் பெற்றுக் கொண்டு திரும்பக் சொல்கின்றாய்
பரிசுகள் ஏற்கவா வந்துள்ளோம் நாங்கள் இங்கு?

வந்த காரியம் நடக்காமல் திரும்ப மாட்டோம்;
சொந்த மகளின் சுயம்வரத்தை நீ நடத்துவாய்!

பலமிக்க எங்களைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டு
பலமற்ற பராரியைத் தேர்வு செய்வீர்களா?

என்றோ கொன்றிருப்பேன் சுதர்சனனை!
இன்று வரை விட்டு வைத்தது என் தவறு!

அழைத்து வா உன் மகளை இப்போதே இங்கு!
பிழைத்துப் போ சத்ருஜித்துக்கு மணம் செய்வித்து!

சம்பந்தியாக விரும்பவிலை என்னுடன் என்றால்
சம்பந்தம் செய்து கொள் வேறொரு மன்னனுடன்.

விடவே மாட்டோம் சுதர்சனனை மணம் புரிந்திட!
உடனே வரச் சொல் உன் மகளை மண்டபத்துக்கு!”

செய்வது அறியாத சுபாஹு கூறினான் ராணியிடம்,
” தெய்வம் தான் காக்க வேண்டும் குழப்பத்திலிருந்து!”

ராணி கூறினாள் பேணி வளர்த்த மகளிடம்,
“ராணியாக வாழ்வாய் மன்னனை மணந்து!

கலகம் நடக்காது மன்னனைத் தேர்வு செய்தால்;
கலகம் நடக்கும் சுதர்சனனை மணந்துகொண்டால்!”

சசிகலா மாறவில்லை தன் மன உறுதியில்;
ரசிக்கவில்லை அவளுக்கு அன்னையின் கூற்று.

“ரகசியமாக மணம் செய்வித்து எங்கள் இருவரையும்
ரகசியமாக வெளியேற்றிவிடுங்கள் இங்கிருந்து!

எது நடந்தாலும் சமாளிப்போம் நாங்கள்;

9#13e. கங்கையும், ராதையும் (5)

காட்சி தந்தான் பிரமனுக்குப் பரமாத்மா;
ஆசிகள் தந்தான் பிரமனுக்குப் பரமாத்மா.

"மறைந்துள்ளாள் கங்கை என் பாதத்தில்!
மறைந்துள்ளாள் கங்கை தன் பயத்தால்!

வெளிப்பட்டவுடன் கங்கையை ராதை
அள்ளிப் பருகிவிடுவாள் சினம் கொண்டு.

வெளிப்பட்ட உடனேயே பாயும் கங்கைக்கு
அளிக்க வேண்டும் அபயம் பிரம்ம தேவனே!"

துதித்தான் பிரமன் ராதையை உளமார;
பதித்தான் பிரமன் தன் உளக் கருத்தினை.

"உதித்தாள் கங்கை ராதா கிருஷ்ணரிடம் முன்பு,
மதித்து ருத்திரனின் இசையில் மயங்கியபோது.

புதல்வி ஆவாள் கங்கை உங்கள் இருவருக்கும்;
பூஜிப்பாள் கங்கை உன்னை உன் மந்திரத்தால்!"

புன்னகைத்தாள் பொறுமை அடைந்த ராதை;
சின்ன கங்கை வந்தாள் கட்டை விரலிலிருந்து.
.
நிரப்பினான் பிரமன் கங்கையைக் கமண்டலத்தில்;
சிறப்பாக உபதேசித்தான் ராதையின் ஸ்துதிகளை;

கடைப்பிடித்தாள் கங்கை ராதையின் வழிபாட்டை;
கடைசியில் சேர்ந்தாள் விஷ்ணுவின் உலகத்தை.

"படைப்பாய் உலகங்களை இனி நீயே!" என்று
பணித்தான் பிரமனைக் கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா.

9#13e. RADHA DEVI AND GANGA DEVI (4)

BrahmA saw KrishNa everywhere. Each of them had a flute, was adorned by a VanamAlA, a Peacock feather, Kaustubha jewel and was dressed in yellow silk.Their forms were very beautiful, lovely and peaceful.

No difference existed in their forms, or qualities, or ornaments, or radiance, or age, or luster or in any other aspect. No one them was imperfect. No one lacked lordliness. It was very difficult to make out who was the master and who were his servants.

At last BrahmA meditated on the PatamAtmA in his heart, began to chant hymns with devotion and pray. ParamAtmA was pleased and replied thus:

"GangA has taken refuge under My feet out of fear for RAdhA. If RAdhA sees GangA by My side, she will drink Her up. I will give over GangA to your hands. You will have to pacify RAdhA, so that GangA loses her fear of RAdhA.”

BrahmA said , “O RAdhA! GangA appeared from You and KrishnA. Both of you were transformed into the liquid forms on hearing the music of Sankara in RAsa maNdalam. She is like your daughter and is to be loved. She will be initiated in your Mantra and She will worship you and please you!"

Hearing these words of BrahmA, RAdhA gave up her anger and agreed to protect GangA. GangA emerged from the tip of the toe of KrishNA. BrahmA filled GangA water in His Kamandalu. Maheswara kept GangA water on his head.

BrahmA, taught GangA the rules of RAdhA worship. GangA worshiped RAdhA according to those instructions and went to Vaikuntha. Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganga and Tulasee are the four wives of NArAyaNA .

#14c. கிருச்சதமர்-2

பிறப்பைப் பற்றி அத்ரி கூறிய செய்தி
வியப்பை அளித்தது முனிவர்களுக்கு.

சிறப்பை குறைத்துவிட்டது நொடியில்;
வெறுப்பைத் தோற்றுவித்தது சபையில்.

அவமானம் அடைந்தார் கிருச்சதமர்.
ஆவேசத்துடன் சூளுரைத்தார் அவையில்.

“முனிவர்கள் சபையில் எனக்குத் தலைக்
குனிவை ஏற்படுத்திய அத்ரி மகரிஷியே!

கவி முனிவன் மகன் தான் நான் எனில்
புவி மேல் வெல்வேன் வாதப் போரில்.”

வெளியேறிவர் சென்றார் நேராகத் தான்
தெளிவடையத் தாய் முகுந்தையிடம்.

“அன்னையே மெய் கூறுவீர் எனக்கு!
உண்மையில் என் தந்தை யார் என்று!”

ருத்திர மூர்த்தி போல நின்ற அவனிடம்
பத்தினி வேடம் போட முடியவில்லை!

“ருக்மாங்கத மன்னன் நீர் வேட்கையால்
இக் குடிலுக்கு வந்தார் முன்பொரு நாள்.

மன்மதன் அவன் மேல் மையல் கொண்டு
துன்புற்றேன் நான் விரக தாபத்தால்!

கருணை கொண்டு மீண்டும் வந்தார்.
அருகினில் அழைத்து மகிழ்வித்தார்.

பிறந்தாய் நீ எம் அன்பின் சின்னமாக.
சிறந்த அரசனே ஆவர் உன் தந்தை!”

எரியும் கொள்ளியில் எண்ணை ஊற்றப்
பெருகின சினமும், பெருத்த அவமானமும்!

“பறவைகள் கூட விரும்பாத இலந்தை
மரமாகி நிற்பாய் நீயும் கானகத்தில்!”

சாபம் இட்டான் மகன் என்றதும் எதிர்
சாபம் இட்டாள் அவன் அன்னையும்.

“கண்டால் மனம் நடுங்கும் கொடியவன்
உண்டாகட்டும் உனக்கு ஒரு மகனாக!”

14c. Krichchadamar – 2

The words suddenly spoken by sage Atri left the rushis shocked beyond words. Krichchadamar fell in their eyes very low. Kruchchadamar felt deeply insulted in the gathering. He took an oath immediately,

“If I am the son of sage Kavi, I will still win over everyone of you in the debate” he left in a huff and went straight to his mother Mukundai for clarification.

He asked her, “Mother tell me the truth now. Who is my real father?” Mukundai could tell a lie after seeing her son standing menacingly like Rudran himself.

She told the incident as to how the Kings RukmAngathan came to her hut for drinking water; how she fell in love with him; how he walked away first and later returned to her. She said,”You are the fruit of my love to the king RukmAngathan.”

Kruchchadamar became even more angry on hearing this. He cursed his mother, “May you become a thorny bear tree – the fruits of which even the birds will not wish to eat!”

She too got angry with him and counter-cursed him, “May you get a son who is terrible beyond words”

3#20c. சசிகலையின் யோசனை

சம்மதிக்கவில்லை சுபாஹு சசிகலையின் யோசனைக்கு;
“நிம்மதியான சூழ்நிலையில் நடப்பவையே திருமணங்கள்.

ஒழுங்கு படுத்த வேண்டும் விரோதங்களை முதலில்.
எழும் பல புதிய பிரச்சனைகள் விரோதம் நீடித்தால்.

திருமண நடந்த கையேடு தெருவில் இறக்குவதா?
தீங்கு செய்யலாம் வந்துள்ள அரசர்கள் ஒன்று கூடி.

பந்தயம் வைக்கின்றேன் ஜனக மன்னன் போல.
பந்தயத்தில் வெல்பவனே உனது மணவாளன்.

கல்யாணமும் நடக்கும்; கலகமும் விளையாது;
சொல்வதைக் கேள் என் கண்மணி!” என்றான்.

“பந்தய சுயம்வரத்தில் பரிசுப் பொருள் நானா?
வஞ்சகங்கள் நடக்கலாம் இந்தப் பந்தயங்களில்!

முந்திக் கொள்ளலாம் நான் நீ என்று அரசர்கள்.
முந்துபவர்களுக்குள் மூளாதா கலகம் ஒன்று?

தந்து விட்டேன் என் மனத்தை சுதர்சனனுக்கு.
தரமாட்டேன் மணமாலையை மற்றவனுக்கு.

‘இன்று போய் நாளை வாருங்கள்’ என்று,
மன்றாடுங்கள் அரசர்கள் முன்பு சென்று.

ரகசியமாகத் திருமணம் முடித்து விடுங்கள்
இரவோடு இரவாக எங்கள் இருவருக்கும்!

சென்று விடுகின்றோம் நாங்கள் ரதம் ஏறி;
அன்னை பராசக்தியின் அருள் பெற்றவர்;

ஆபத்து வந்தால் ஆதரித்து உதவுவாள்
அனுதினம் அவர் ஆராதிக்கும் பராசக்தி.

அமங்கலம் நிகழாது தேவியின் அருளால்;
அச்சம் கொள்ள வேண்டாம் தந்தையே!”

3#20c. Sasikala’s scheme

King Subaahu did not agree to Sasikala’s suggestion. He knew that weddings were meant to be performed in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. First of all, he had to discourage and sort out the enmity of the kings.If their enmity continued, fresh problems would arise.

He could not forsake his daughter and her husband soon after their wedding and place their lives at risk. The kings might join hands and trouble the newly wedded couple.

He told his daughter, “I will arrange for a Swayamvaram with a contest. Who ever wins in the contest will become your husband. This way the wedding will go on peacefully and there will be no threat from the assembled kings”

Sasikala did not agree to his suggestion. “Am I a mere object to be won in a contest? Do my wish and will have no value at all? Many tricks may be played and rules may be bent or broken in a contest. The kings may want to the first to try their luck and that may lead to disturbance among the kings.

I have presented my heart to Sudarsanan. I can’t present the wedding garland to another man. Please request all the kings to go back today and come tomorrow.

Perform our wedding tonight and we will go away on a chariot. If there will be
trouble on our way, the Devi whom he worships with ardent devotion will help us out of that danger. No harm can befall us. Pleas do not worry unnecessarily dear father!”

Sasikala tried to infuse courage and confidence in her father King Subaahu.

9# 14. கந்தர்வ விவாஹம்

வைகுந்தம் சென்றாள் கங்கா தேவி - உடன்
வைகுந்தம் சென்றான் பிரம்ம தேவனும்.

கூறினான் கோலோகத்தில் நடந்தவற்றை;
கூறினான் கங்கை அங்கு வந்த காரணத்தை.

"ரசனை உடைய அழகிய மங்கை கங்கை;
ரசனையில் சிறந்தவர் நீரும் நாராயணரே!

மணந்து கொள்ளும் இணங்கிய பெண்ணை!
பிணங்குவாள் லக்ஷ்மி மணக்க மறுத்தால்!

அவமதித்தோம் பெண்களை என்றால் - நாம்
அவமதிக்கிறோம் உண்மையில் பிரகிருதியை!

ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார் நாராயணன் பிரமன் கூற்றை.
பற்றினார் கங்கையின் கரத்தை விருப்பத்துடன்.

கூடி மகிழ்ந்தனர் கங்கையும், விஷ்ணுவும்!
ஊடினாள் சரஸ்வதி பொறாமைத் தீயினால்!

தாபம் மாறியது அவளிடம் கோபமாக !
கோபம் மாறியது அவளிடம் சாபமாக!

கூறினார் நாராயணன் நாரதருக்கு இதை;
கூறினார் நாராயணன் துளசியின் கதை.

9#14. GANDHARVA VIVAAHAM

GangA Devi went to Vaikuntham. BrahmA also went to Vaikuntham. He told Lord NArAyanA the happenings at Goloka and advised him to marry GangA Devi.

"GangA Devi is a beautiful lady worthy of becoming your wife. One must never refuse to marry a lady who comes to him willingly. Lakshmi Devi will surely get upset with you if you refuse to marry GangA.

Al women are the amsmas of Prakruti Devi. If we insult a woman, we are actually insulting the Prakruti Devi herself.

NArAyanA agreed to what BrahmA said and married GnagA Devi in a Ghandharva VivAham.

Ganga and NArAyaNa lived happily as a newly wedded couple. But Saraswati could not stand the sight of their happiness. She became angry and cursed Ganga.

Lord NArAyaNa then told Brahma the story of Tulasee Devi.

#14d. கிருச்சதமர்-3

“முனி குமாரன் என நினைத்திருந்தேன் நான்;
பனி போல மறைந்துவிட்டது அந்த நினைவு!

பிறப்பின் ரஹசியம் வெளிப்பட்டு விட்டது !
இறப்பதே மேல்! இத்தகைய வாழ்க்கை எதற்கு?

மானம் நீங்கிய பின் உயிர் எதற்கு – அவமானம்
மரணத்திலும் கொடியது அல்லவா மனிதருக்கு?

சரீரத்தைத் துறந்துவிடுகின்றேன் நானே” என்று
பரிதாப முடிவெடுத்தார் முனிவர் கிருச்சதமர்.

அசரீரி கேட்டது ஆகாயத்திலிருந்து அப்போது!
“அவசரப்படாதே உண்மையில் நீ இந்திரன் மகன்!”

"கேலி செய்த முனிவர்களை மீண்டும் தன்னைத்
தேடி வந்து வணங்கிடச் செய்திட வேண்டும்!

வனம் சென்று தவம் செய்து பெறுவேன் நான்
வலம் வந்து வணங்கச் செய்யும் சக்தியினை.”

கானகம் சென்றடைந்தார் கிருச்சதமர் – அன்ன
பானம் நீக்கிக் கோரத் தவம் செய்தார் அங்கே

பதினாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் ஓடி மறைந்தன
பத்துக் கைகளுடனும், வேழ முகத்துடனும்,

சித்தி , புத்தி தேவிகள் சமேதரராக கணபதி
சிங்க வாகனத்தில் காட்சி தந்தருளினார்.

கோடி சூரியர்களின் பிரகாசத்தினால் கூசி
மூடிக் கொண்டு விட்டன அவர் புறக் கண்கள்

“பிரகாசத்தால் ஒளி இழந்தன புறக்கண்கள்
பிரபுவே அளியுங்கள் எனக்கு அகக் கண்கள்”

அகக் கண்கள் குளிரக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார்
அன்பனுக்கு அன்பன் ஆனைமுக நாதனை.

சிற்றின்பத்தைத் துறந்து விட்டு உம் பக்தியால்
பேரின்பம் அடையும் நற்பேறு அருள்வீர் ஐயனே!”

14d. Kruchchadamar – 3

“I was under the impression that I was the son of a sage. But now that thought has disappeared like a dew drop in the sunlight. The truth about my birth has been publicized in a gathering by Athri.

Why should I continue to live? This kind of life is worse than death. I will end my life” Kruchchadamar made up his mind to end his life.

Just then an AkAshvANi said, “Do not be in a hurry to kill yourself. You are the son of Indra!” This was a pleasant and surprising news to him. He forgot his sorrow and shame.

He said to himself, “I will make the same rushis who ridiculed me come to me and pay their obeisance.” He left for doing penance. He did severe penance for ten thousand years without food, water and sleep.

VinAyaka was pleased with his penance and appeared in front of him accompanied by Siddhi Devi and Buddhi Devi on a Simha-vAhanam.

He had ten hands, the lovely elephant face and the brilliance of ten million suns shining together. The light was so brilliant that Kruchchadamar felt blinded by it and begged for Gnana-sakshu ( divine vision) to look at God to his contentment.

He saw God to his heart’s content and prayed thus: “I must give up all worldly pleasures and get liberated from samsaara by your grace Oh lord!”
