DEVI BHAAGAVATM - SKAND 12

12#10b. MaNidweepa (2)

Across this ocean, there is an iron enclosure, high enough to block the Heavens. Within this enclosure wall, skilled and alert guards carrying weapons keep vigil. The four main entrances are swarming with hundreds of guards and devotees of Devi. Whenever any Deva comes to pay a visit to Devi, his VAhanam is stopped here.

This place reverberates with the chiming of the bells of the chariots of Devas and the neighing of the horses and the sound made by the hoofs. The Devas control the crowds using their canes. The place is buzzing with a mixture of sounds.The houses are adorned with trees of gems and jewels. The tanks are filled with clear and sweet water.

There is a second enclosure wall made of bell metal, so high that it almost touches the Heavens. It is far more brilliant than the previous enclosure wall. There are many entrance gates and various trees here.

All the varieties of trees found in this universe are there, bearing flowers, fruits and tender leaves! The whole place is scented with their sweet fragrance!

5#28d. சிவதூதி (2)

கூறினார் சிவபெருமான் தூது மொழிகளை;
மறைந்து அருளினார் அதைக் கூறிய பின்னர்.

சிவனையே தன் தூதுவனாக அனுப்பியதால்
'சிவதூதி' என்ற அழகிய பட்டப் பெயர் தேவிக்கு.

புறப்பட்டனர் போருக்கு சும்ப நிசும்பர்கள்;
சிறந்த ஆயுதங்களுடன் கவசங்கள் அணிந்து.

சரமழை பொழிந்தனர் விற்களில் இருந்து;
விரைந்து தின்றாள் காளி அசுரரைக் கொன்று.

பிரம்மாணி அழித்தாள் மயங்கிய அசுரரை
பிரம்ம கமண்டலத்திலிருந்த நீர் தெளித்து.

மாஹேஸ்வரி அழித்தாள் அசுர வீரர்களை
மகேஸ்வரன் சூலத்தால் குத்தியும், தாக்கியும்.

வைஷ்ணவி அழித்தாள் அசுர வீரர்களை
விஷ்ணுச் சக்கரம், கதையைப் பயன்படுத்தி.

ஐந்த்ரி கொன்று குவித்தாள் அசுர வீரரை
இந்திரனின் வஜ்ஜிராயுதத்தை உபயோகித்து.

வாராஹி அழித்தாள் அசுரர் கூட்டத்தைத் தன்
கூரிய மூக்கு, கோரைப் பற்களினால் தாக்கி.

நாரசிம்மி தின்றாள் அசுர வீரர்களை
நரசிம்மம் போலவே வயிற்றைக் கிழித்து.

சிவதூதி கொன்றாள் அசுர வீரர்களைத் தன்
செவிகளைப் பிளக்கும் வீர முழக்கத்தினால்.

தின்றனர் சாமுண்டியும், காளியும் – களத்தில்
கொன்று குவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த அசுர உடல்களை.

கௌமாரி கொன்றாள் தன் சக்தி ஆயுதத்தால்;
வாருணி கொன்றாள் தன் பாசக் கயிற்றினால்.

வதைத்தனர் சக்திகள் அசுர வீரர்களைப் போரில்;
பிழைத்தனர் சிலர் புறமுதுகிட்டு ஓடி விட்டதால்.

செய்தனர் வெற்றி முழக்கம் விவித சக்தியினர்.
பொழிந்தனர் மலர் மாரி வானிலிருந்து வானவர்.

கொண்டான் கடும் சினம் ரக்தபீஜ அசுரன் ;
உண்டானது கடும் போர் மீண்டும் அங்கே.

5#28d. Siva doothi (2)

Siva conveyed the message sent by Devi and disappeared from there. Devi got a new title as
Siva Doothi since she had sent Lord Siva himself as her messenger.

Sumban and Nisumban left to fight with the Devis. They donned their armors and carried their powerful weapons along with them. Sumban and Nisumban shot arrows like rain clouds raining water. Kaali killed and gobbled up the asura warriors.

BrahmmaNi killed the asura warriors by sprinkling the jalam from her Brahma kamandalam. Maaheswari killed the asura warriors using the soolaayudam of Maheswaran. VaishNavi killed the asura warriors using the mace and discus of Vishnu.

Aindri killed the asura warriors with her vajraayudam. Vaaraahi killed the enemy warriors using her powerful snout and teeth. Naarasimhi ate up the asuras the same way as Narasimha did by tearing open their bodies.

Sivadoothi made a deafening noise and killed many asuraas by giving them a rude shock.Chaamundi and Kaali ate up the bodies of the dead asuraas. Koumaari killed by usng her spear and VaaruNi by using her paasm.

Those who ran away from the field survived. The Devis made a cry of victory. The Devaas rained flowers. Raktha Beejan became very angry and a fresh war began.

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#42n. குரூரன்

நிலைமையை அறிந்து பட்டமகிஷி
தலை விரிகோலமாக ஓடிவந்தாள்.

“நம்பிக்கையுடன் சென்றான் போருக்கு;
நம்பிக்கை இல்லை இனி காண்பேன் என!

சிறைப் பட்டுவிட்டார் அரசர் போரில்;
சிதைத்து விடுவார்களே அசுரர்கள்!”

“கலகலக்கும் வெற்றியுடன் வருவார்!
வெலவெலக்காமல் காத்திருங்கள் தாயே!”

ஆயிரக்கணக்கான வீரர்கள் தோன்றினர்,
ஆயுதம் எந்தியபடி, அவர் முகத்திலிருந்து.

குரூரன் தலை சிறந்தவன் அவர்களில்;
குரூரனைப் பணித்தார் மகோற்கடர்;

“நராந்தகனை வென்று சிறை மீட்பாய்,
நண்பர் காசி ராஜனையும், பிறரையும்!”

குரூரன் புரிந்தான் அற்புதமான போர்;
குரூரன் துன்புறவில்லை அம்புகளால்!

அஸ்திரங்களை நராந்தகன் எய்தவுடன்,
விஸ்தீர்ண வாயால் விழுங்கிவிட்டான்!

பாசுபதாஸ்திரத்தை விடுத்தான் அசுரன்,
பகவான் அருளுடன் விடுத்தான் குரூரன்.

எறிந்தது அசுரனை ரதத்துடன் வானில்;
பறந்தவன் வந்து விழுந்தான் நிலத்தில்.

விழுந்த வேகத்தில் அழுந்தினான் அசுரன்;
அழுந்தியே விட்டான் பாதாளம் வரையில்!

சிறை மீட்டு உடன் அழைத்துச் சென்றான்
குரூரன் காசிராஜனையும், மற்றவரையும்.

BHAARAGAVA PURAAANAM - PART 2

#42n. Krooran

When the Queen of KAsi learned that the king had been arrested, she came running to MahOrkadar greatly agitated. “He went to the war trusting in your words. I have no hope that I will ever see him alive again. The asurA will not spare their war prisoners”

MahOrkadar consoled her and said, “The king will return safely and victoriously. Wait patiently and do not get tensed.” Thousands of soldiers armed to their teeth appeared from the face of MahOrkadar. Krooran was the best among them.

Mahorkadar ordered Krooran, “Go and free the King of KAsi and the others, after defeating NarAntakakn in the war.”

Krooran fought wonderfully. None of the arrows shot by the asurA seemed to hurt him. When NarAntakan shot his asthrams, Krooran swallowed them whole by his wide open mouth.

Now NarAntkakn shot his PAsupathAsthram. Krooran did likewise after praying to his God. NarAntakan got thrown high in the sky along with his chariot. He came down with such a great force and hit the earth that he went down right up to pAtAla.

Before he could come up to the earth’s surface Krooran had freed all the prisoners and escaped.

12#10c. வசந்த ருது

தரும் ஆறு ருதுக்களின் பயன்களை ஒன்றாக!
வரும் குயிலோசையுடன் வண்டின் ரீங்காரம்!

ஓடும் சுவையுள்ள கனிரசம் போன்ற நதிகள்!
பாடும் கிளிகளுடன் பிற பறவைகள் இனிதாக.

தேடும் துணைகளை இளம் பெண்மான்கள்;
ஆடும் மரக்கிளைகள் மலர் மணம் பரப்பும்.

இருக்கிறது வடக்கில் தாமிரப் பிரகாரம்;
நறுமணம் கமழும் கற்பகத் தருக்களுடன்.

மிளுரும் மலர்கள் பொன் மலர்கள் போல!
ஒளிர்வான் வசந்த ருது அரசனாக இங்கு !

அமர்வான் புஷ்ப சிம்மாசனத்தில் வசந்தன்;
அமர்வான் புஷ்பக் குடையின் கீழ் வசந்தன்;

இருப்பான் புஷ்ப ஆபரணங்கள் தரித்து வசந்தன்;
இருப்பான் புஷ்பங்கள் சிந்தும் தேன் தாரையில்!

சுழலும் கண்களை உடைய வசந்தனுடன்
சுகமாக இருப்பர் மாதுகள் மது ஸ்ரீ, மாது ஸ்ரீ!

நிறைந்திருக்கும் கந்தர்வர்கள் கானத்தால்;
நிறைந்திருக்கும் கந்தர்வர்கள் கூட்டத்தால்;

நிறைந்திருக்கும் பறவைகளின் சப்த ஜாலத்தால்;
நிறைந்திருக்கும் வசந்த ருதுவின் உல்லாசத்தால்.

12#10c. Vasanthan

Next comes the third enclosure wall of copper. Within this are forests of Kalpa Vrukshas which have leaves and flowers of gold and bear fruits of gems. Their perfume spreads far and wide and give happiness to all around.

The king of this season Vasanthan preserves this place. His throne is made of flowers; his umbrella is made of flowers; his ornaments are made of flowers; he drinks the honey from the flowers. His eyes roll due to the intoxication from the honey.

He lives here with his two beautiul wives named Madhu
Sree and MAdhava Sree. The two wives of Spring have smiling countenance and they play with bunches of flowers.

This forest is very pleasant. The honey of the flowers is in abundance. The perfumes of the flowers spread far and wide. The Gandharvas, the heavenly musicians, live here with their wives.
This place is filled with the pleasures of the spring and intensifies the desires of the amorous persons!

5#29a. ரக்த பீஜன் (4 )

சிறந்த அசுர குல வீரன் ரக்த பீஜன் – அவன்
சிறந்த வரம் பெற்றிருந்தான் ருத்திரனிடம்.

சிந்தும் ஒவ்வொரு துளி ரத்தமும் செய்யும்
சிந்திக்க ஒண்ணாத ஓர் அற்புதச் செயலை!

தோன்றுவான் ஓரசுரன் அதிலிருந்து – அதே
தோற்றமும், வலிமையையும் பெற்றவனாக.

அசரவில்லை ரக்த பீஜன் தேவியரைக் கண்டு;
அடித்தான் வைஷ்ணவியைச் சக்தி ஆயுதத்தால்.

தடுத்தாள் தேவி கதையால்; ஏவினாள் சக்கரத்தை;
கொட்டியது மலையருவி போல ரத்தப் பெருக்கு.

தோன்றினான் ஓரசுரன் ஒவ்வொரு துளியிலும்
தோற்றதிலும் வலிமையிலும் அவன் போலவே.

மேலும் மேலும் வைஷ்ணவி தேவி தாக்கவே
தோன்றினர் மேலும் மேலும் பல அசுரர்கள்.

தாக்கினாள் பிரம்மாணி பிரம்ம தண்டத்தால்
குத்தினாள் மாஹேஸ்வரி தன் சூலாயுதத்தால்.

கீறினாள் கூறிய நகங்களால் நாரசிம்மி தேவி;
கிழித்தாள் கோரைப் பற்களால் வாராஹி தேவி.

மார்பில் அறைந்தாள் ரக்த பீஜனைக் கௌமாரி.
போர்க்களம் நிறைந்து விட்டது அசுரர்களால்.

கவலை கொண்டனர் கண்ணுற்ற தேவர்கள்!
அவலை நினைத்து உமியை இடித்தது போல!

சிறுத்துக் காணப் படும் சக்தியர்களின் கூட்டம்
பெருத்து வரும் அசுரர் கூட்டத்தை வெல்வதா?

சும்பனும் நிசும்பனும் வந்துசேர்ந்து விட்டால்
சுலபமாக அசுரர்களை வென்றிட முடியுமா?

5#29a. Rakta Beejan (4)

Rakta Beejan was one of the brave asuraa wariors. He had secured a rare boon from Rudran. From every drop of blood he shed, an asuran would appear who was as valiant as Rakta Beejan himself

Rakta Beejan was unruffled by the numerous Devis. He attacked Vaishnavi with his spear. Vaishnavi blocked it with her mace and released her discus.

Rakta Beejan bled like a waterfall from the wound made by the discus. There appeared an asura from every drop of his blood who was as valiant as Rakjta Beejan himself. The more and more
VaishNavi attacked him, the more and more asuras appeared in the war front.

BrahmANi attacked him with her Brahma dandam. Maaheswari attacked him with her trident. NArasimmi tore open his flesh with her sharp nails. VArAhi bit him hard with her powerful teeth. KowmAri hit him on his chest.

The oozing blood caused many thousands of asuras appear and now the field was filled with the Rakta Beejan look alike.

The Devas got worried to see this The Devis were outnumbered by the asuras whose strength was increasing by the minute. If Sumban and Nisumban also came and joined the asura’s side, victory will become impossible.

#42p. மாயப்போர்

மயக்கம் தெளிந்தான் நராந்தகன்;
தயக்கம் இன்றித் தாக்கலானான்

உருவெடுத்தான் கரிய மேகங்களாக;
பிரளய ஜலம் போலப் பொழிந்தான்.

சண்டமாருதமாக வீசினான் – அவர்கள்
சண்டை இட்ட போர்க்களத்தில் அசுரன்.

அரண்மனையிலிருந்த மகோற்கடர் அவன்
அமர்க்களத்துக்கு வந்துவிட்டதை அறிந்தார்

எண்ணம் கொண்டார் தானே சம்ஹரிக்க!
சுண்டினார் விரலால் நாணேற்றிய வில்லை

பரவியது எண் திசையும் அதன் டங்காரம்;
மறைந்துவிட்டது அசுரனின் மாய உருவம்.

அக்னி உருவெடுத்தான் நராந்தகன் பிறகு.
அழிக்கத் தொடங்கினான் பிரபஞ்சத்தை!

தோற்றுவித்தான் எண்ணற்ற வீரர்களை;
தோன்றினர் எண்ணற்ற உருவங்களில்.

ஒருபுறம் வந்து பொங்கியது வெள்ளம்
ஒருபுறம் வந்தது பொசுக்கும் தீஜ்வாலை.

ஒருபுறம் பறந்தன மரங்கள் காற்றில்;
ஒருபுறம் பெய்தது விடாத கனமழை.

மலைகளிலிருந்து சரிந்தன சிகரங்கள்
மேலிட்டது குழப்பம் தேவர்கள் தரப்பில்.

போரிட்டான் பல உருவங்களில் நராந்தகன்
போரிட்டார் மகோற்கடர் தக்க உருவங்களில்,

ரதத்தைப் பொடி செய்தார் மகோற்கடர்.
அறுபட்ட கரங்கள் முளைத்தன மீண்டும்.

நராந்தகன் திறமையைக் காண விரும்பி
சிராக்காலம் போரிட்டார் மகோற்கடர்.

சிறுவன் களைத்துவிட்டான் போலும்
வெறுமனே சமாளிக்கிறான் சவாலை!

நராந்தகன் எண்ணினான் மனதில்,
உரைத்தான் எள்ளி நகையாடியபடி.

#42p. The war involving MAyA tricks

NarAntakan came round and again fought vehemently. He transformed into dark rain clouds and poured like the praLaya jalam. He became a fierce storm and blew across the battle field.

MahOrkadar knew that NarAntakan had come to the battle field. He wanted to put an end to NarAntakan’s atrocities. He twanged his taut bowstring and the sound was enough to dispel the MAyA prevailing in the battle field.

NarAntakan became Agni and scorched the world. He created many soldiers and they appeared in various forms. Some of them appeared as the flooding water. Some others as the scorching tongues of fire. A few others as trees carried by the fierce wind and yet some others as the heavy downpour of rain.

The peaks of the mountains tumbled down and confusion prevailed in the army of the god. NarAntakan assumed different forms. MahOrkadar assumed different forms to cancel out his different forms.

MahOrkadr destroyed the chariot of NarAntakan. He then cut off the hands of NarAntakan. But they grew out as good as new again and again.

MahOrkadar enjoyed the fight and extended it longer than necessary. NarAntakan thought otherwise. He thought that the little boy had become tired and was just defending his side with great difficulty. He sneered and made fun of MahOrkadar.

12#10d. ஆறு ருதுக்கள்

கிரீஷ்ம ருது

உள்ளது வடக்கில் ஈயப் பிரகாரம் ஒன்று;
உள்ளன மனம் கமழும் சந்தன மரங்கள்.

உள்ளன பொன்னொளி வீசும் அற்புத மரங்கள்;
உள்ளன அமுதச் சுவையுடன் கற்பகத் தருக்கள்.

இருப்பான் இங்கு கிரீஷ்ம ருதுவின் நாயகன்;
இருப்பர் அவனோடு சுக்ரஸ்வ, சுகிச்ரீ இருவர்.

தாபம் தணிவதற்குத் தங்குவர் இங்கு;
வேதம் அறிந்த சீலர்களும் இருப்பர்.

மங்கையர் அணிவர் சந்தன மலர்களை;
தங்குவர் நீரின் குளுமையை விழைபவர்.

வர்ஷ ருது

உள்ளது பித்தளைப் பிரகாரம் இதற்கும் வடக்கே
உள்ளன அரிச் சந்தன மரங்கள், புல்வெளிகள்

காமவயப்பட்ட மனம் போல் கலங்கிய பொய்கை;
களைக் கட்டுவர் சித்தர்கள், அமரர், தேவி பக்தர்கள்.

சுகித்திருப்பர் இங்கு மனைவியுடன் நற்கர்மம்
இக வாழ்வில் பண்ணிய புண்ணிய சீலர்கள்.

மேகவாஹனன் வர்ஷ ருது வசிப்பான் இங்கே;
மேகமே அவன் கவசம்; மின்னலே அவன் கண்கள்;

இடியே அவன் குரல்; வானவில்லே அவன் வில்;
வடியும் வர்ஷ தாரைகள் அவன் கை பாணங்கள்;

தேவியர் பன்னிருவர் ஆவார் வர்ஷ ருதுவுக்கு!
மேவிய இன்பத்துடன் வாழ்ந்திருப்பான் இவன்!

12#10d. Greeshma and Varsha rutu

Next is the enclosure wall made of lead - within which there is the garden of the SantAnaka tree. The fragrance of its flowers extends far and wide. These flowers appear golden in color and are always in full bloom. Its fruits are very sweet like nectar.

Greeshma Rutu or the Summer Season resides here with his two wives Sukra Sreeand Suchi Sree. The residents of this place remain under the trees - to escape being scorched by the heat of summer.

Various Siddhas and Devas inhabit this place. The females get their bodies all anointed with sandal paste and decorated with flower garlands. They carry small fans in their hands. The water is very cool and refreshing.

Next to this comes the enclosing wall made of brass. A garden of Hari Chandana trees is situated inside it. Its ruler is the Rainy Season.The lightnings are his eyes; the clouds are his armour, the thunder is his voice and the rainbow is his bow. The streaks of rain are his arrows.

He has twelve wives namely (1) Nabhah Sree (2) Nabhahsya Sree (3) Svarasya (4) RasyasAlinee (5) AmbA (6) DulA (7) Niratni (8) Abhramantee (9) Megha YantikA (10) Varshayantee (11) ChivuNikA and (12) VAridhArA

All the trees, plants and creepers flourish well. It looks green everywhere.The rivers flow filled with strong currents.The tanks here look disturbed like the minds of persons attached to worldly things.

The devotees of the Devi, the Siddhas, the Devas and those who did good karmasduring their life time live here with their wives.

5#29b. ரக்த பீஜன் (5)

மஹா சக்தி கூறினாள் சாமுண்டி தேவியிடம்,
“மஹா கவனம் கொள்ள வேண்டும் இனி நாம்;

விழக் கூடாது ஒரு துளி ரத்தமும் பூமியின் மேல்.
விழும் முன்பே பருகிவிடு பெருகும் ரத்தத்தை!

தோன்ற மாட்டார்கள் மேலும் அசுர வீரர்கள்;
வென்று விட முடியும் அசுரர்களை எளிதாக!

மடிந்து விடுவான் ரக்த பீஜன் இரத்தமிழந்து
ஒடிந்துவிடும் அசுர சேனை தளபதியை இழந்து.”

உற்சாகம் அடைந்தாள் சாமுண்டி தேவி – அவன்
உதிரம் பருகக் காத்திருந்தாள் விழிப்புணர்வுடன்!

குடித்தாள் ரத்தத்தை அது கீழே விழும் முன்பே.
கடித்து மென்றாள் தோன்றியிருந்த அசுரர்களை.

மயங்கினான் ரத்தம் வற்றியதால் ரக்த பீஜன்;
மாய்த்தாள் தேவி அவனை வாளால் வெட்டி.

சொட்டு விழாமல் ரத்தம் பருகிய சாமுண்டி
கொட்டம் அடித்தாள் கொட்டி முழக்கியபடி.

எஞ்சிய அசுர வீரர்கள் புறமுதுகிட்டனர்;
தஞ்சம் அடைந்தனர் சும்ப, நிசும்பர்களை;

“கொன்றுவிட்டனர் ரக்த பீஜனையும் இன்று!
மென்று தின்றனர் இறந்த அசுரர் உடல்களை!

விழுங்கியது சிங்கம் அசுரர் உடல்களை;
விழுங்கினாள் காளியும் அசுரர் உடல்களை!

கூத்தாடுகின்றாள் ரத்தம் பருகிய சாமுண்டி.
பார்த்ததே இல்லை இது போன்ற ஒரு காட்சி!”

5#29b. Raktha Beejan (5)

MahA Shakti told ChAmuNdi Devi, “We must be very careful not to spill any more blood on the ground. You must drink the blood before it can fall down on the earth and produce more asuras.

Raktha Beejan will soon lose all his blood and drop dead. The asura army will take to its heels with no one to command it!” ChAmuNdi became very eager to drink the fresh blood of Rakta Beejan.

She drank his blood before it could fall on the ground. She also gobbled up as many asuras as had appeared earlier. Rakta Beejan lost all his blood and fell faint in the field. Devi decapitated him immediately with her sword.

ChAmuNdi got intoxicated by the fresh blood she had drunk and exhibited it with her loud screams and wild dances. The asuras who were left alive took to their heels and ran to S’umban and
Nis’umban. They told them the happenings of that day.

“Rakta Beejan also got killed today. KAli and the lion ate up the dead bodies of the asuras. ChAmuNdi drank the fresh blood of Rakta Beejan and went into a mad frenzy. We have never before witnessed such a horrible sight!”

#42q. நராந்தகன் வதம்

“குட்டிப் பயலே! நன்றாக சமாளிக்கிறாய்!
வெட்டிப் பொழுது போக்கவே நீ வந்தாயா?

அழிவே இல்லாதவன் நான் அறியாயோ?
அழிக்க முயற்சிக்கின்றாய் நீயும் விடாமல்.

ஓடிப்போனால் உயிர் பிழைப்பாய் சிறுவா!
தேடி கொள்ளாதே உன்முடிவை நீயே!” என,

‘மன்னிப்புக் கேட்டால் வாழலாம் இன்னமும்
மாறாக நடந்தால் அழியப் போவது நீ தான்!”

பதில் பேசவில்லை நராந்தகன் அதன் பின்,
பதில் பேசின அவன் அஸ்த்திர சஸ்திரங்கள்.

பினாகம் கொய்தது நராந்தகன் தலையை.
பினாகம் வீழ்த்தியது அதை தேவருலகில்.

வேத கோஷம் ஒலித்தனர் முனி புங்கவர்கள்
தேவ துந்துபி முழங்கியது பூ மாரி பெய்தது.

அதற்குள் முளைத்தது இன்னொரு தலை.
அதையும் அறுத்துத் தள்ளினார் இறைவன்.

பறந்து சென்றன கொய்த தலைகள்;
பார்த்தவர்கள் அச்சத்தால் நடுங்கினர்!

விஸ்வ ரூபம் எடுத்தார் மகோற்கடர்.
விண்ணை முட்டும் உருவில் அசுரனும்

கால் கட்டைவிரலால் கீறினார் அவன் மார்பை.
காலன் பறித்துச் சென்றான் அவன் ஆவியை!

அழிந்தான் நராந்தகன் என்று பறை சாற்றிட,
முழங்கியது எண்திசைகளில் வெற்றிச்சங்கு!

#42q. The end of NarAntakan

“Oh dear little boy! You manage to fight quite well. But you are simply wasting your time here. Don’t you know that I am invincible? You are trying your best to kill me but it will be in vain. If you run off from here now, you may love long. Don’t seek your own end”

MahOrkadar spoke to NarAntakan, “You may still live long, if you feel sorry for your mistakes and beg for my pardon. Otherwise you will be the one to get killed”

NarAntakan did not like this sermon and did not reply with words, but he replied by shooting his asthrams and sathrams. Using the PinAkam, MahOrkadar decapitated NarAntakan. The severed head got carried to the DEvalOkam. The rushis chanted VEdAs and the DEvA played the dundubi. Flowers rained.

But NarAntakan grew a fresh head as good as new! MahOrkadar severed that head too. It took off and fell in the DEvalOkam. This went on for a long time. People who saw the severed heads of NrAntaka whizzing past got terribly frightened.

MahOrkadar now assumed viswaroopam. NarAntakan also stood from heaven to earth. MahOrkadar cut open NarAntakan’s chest with the nail of his toe and NarAntakan fell down quite dead. The conch of victory blew announcing the death of NarAnthakan to all the world.

இசைவாக லக்ஷ்மி, ஊர்ஜ லக்ஷ்மியுடன்.

ஹேமந்த ருது

உள்ளது ஒரு வெள்ளிப் பிரகாரம் இதன் முன்பு;
உள்ளன இரு வரிசையாகப் பாரிஜாத மரங்கள்

பூத்துக் குலுங்கும் இந்த மரங்கள் - நல்ல
புத்துணர்ச்சி தரும் நற்பணி புரிபவருக்கு.

நாயகன் இந்த இடத்துக்கு ஹேமந்த ருது;
நாயகியர் இருவர் சாஸ்யச்ரீ,..........

உள்ளது பொன் பிரகாரம் இதற்கு முன்பு;
உள்ளன கதம்ப வனங்கள் இதன் மத்தியில்.

பெருகி ஓடும் தேன் தாரைகள் வனத்தில்;
பருகினால் தரும் தேவியின் நிஜ ஆனந்தம்!

நாயகன் இவ்விடத்துக்குச் சிசிர ருது;
நாயகியர் இருவர் தபஸ்ரீ, தபச்யஸ்ரீ

வசிப்பர் தேவி விரதம் செய்யும் சித்தர்
இசைவான பத்தினி பரிவாரங்களுடன்.

5#29c. அறிவுரை

“உதவிக்கு வந்துள்ளனர் விவித சக்தியர்கள்;
உதவாது எதுவும் அவர்களை வெல்வதற்கு!

சித்தம் ஆகிவிடுங்கள் சரண் அடைவதற்கு!
மொத்தமாக ஓடிவிடுவோம் பாதாள லோகம்!”

மரண காலம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது சும்பாசுரனுக்கு;
மறுத்து விட்டான் அறிவுரையைக் கேட்பதற்கு.

“சரண் அடைய மாட்டேன் கேவலம் பெண்ணிடம்,
சரண் புகமாட்டேன் சென்று பாதாள உலகிலும்!

நண்பர்களைப் பறி கொடுத்தேன் போர் செய்து!
நற்பெயரைப் பறி கொடேன் போர் செய்யாது!

வெல்வேன் சக்தியர் கூட்டத்தைப் போரில்;
செல்வேன் வெற்றி வீரனாக நம் நாட்டுக்கு;

ஆள்வேன் ராஜ்ஜியத்தை முன் போலவே;
மாள்வேன் தேவியரை வெல்ல முடியாவிடில்!”

தம்பியிடம் சொன்னான் படையுடன் தொடர.
தம்பி அவனைச் செல்ல விடவே மறுத்தான்.

“கொன்று விடுகிறேன் சக்திக் கூட்டத்தை நானே!
கொண்டு வருவேன் மகாசக்தியை மட்டும் இங்கு.

அற்பப் பெண்களுடன் போர் புரிய நீ எதற்கு?
சொற்பப் படையுடன் நானே செல்கின்றேன்!”

சென்றான் போர்க் களம் படைகள் தொடர,
அண்ணனுக்கு ஆறுதல் கூறிவிட்டு இளவல்.

5#29c. The advice

The asura warriors who ran away from the battle field advised S’umbAsuran thus:

“All the vividha Shaktis have appeared to help MahA Shakti in the battle. They are invincible. Get ready to surrender unconditionally. Let us get ready to go back to PAtAlam”

S’umbAsuran’s end was nearing and so he would not listen to good advice. He said, “I will never surrender to these women unconditionally. I will not go back to PAtAlam either.

I have lost all my valiant friends by taking part in the war. Now I do not want to lose my good name by not taking part in the war. I will still defeat those Shaktis and return to my kingdom to rule it as before. In case I get defeated, I shall give up my life”

He told Nis’umban to follow him with their army. But Nis’umban would not let S'umban go to the war front. He said, “I shall kill all the Shaktis who have come to the war to assist MahA Shakti! I shall capture and bring MahA Shakti to you. There is no need for your participation to fight with a handful of women folk!”

Nis’umban consoled S’umban and went to the war front with his army.

#43a. தேவாந்தகன்

எழும்பிப் பறந்து சென்ற நராந்தகன் தலை,
விழுந்தது தேவாந்தகன் சபையின் நடுவில்!

கோபத்துடன் அருகில் சென்ற அசுரன் – பரி
தாபத்துடன் கண்டான் நராந்தகன் தலையை.

திடுக்கிட்ட தேவாந்தகன் திடீர் நிகழ்வால்
முடுக்கிவிட்டான் ஆட்களை விவரம் அறிய.

திரும்பி வந்த தூதர்கள் கூறினார் கதையை,
சிறுவன் அசுரர்களைக் கொன்று குவித்ததை!

தூமாட்சன் முதல் நராந்தகன் வரையில்
ஏமாந்து மகோற்கடரிடம் உயிர் விட்டதை!

கதறி அழுதான் மனத் துயரம் தாங்காமல்,
“பதரைக் கொல்லாமல் விடவே மாட்டேன்!”

சூளுரைத்தான் பழிக்குப் பழி வாங்குவதாக.
வாளேந்திய வீரர்கள் சென்றனர் மண்ணுலகு!

விண்ணுலகப் படை மொத்தமும் வந்தது,
மண்ணுலகப் படையின் மிச்சமும் வந்தது!

நாற் கரங்களில் நான்கு ஆயுதங்களுடன்,
போர்களம் வந்தார் தேவியரோடு இறைவன்.

கடல் போன்ற முடிவில்லாத அசுரர் படை.
நடுவில் ரதத்தில் இருந்தான் தேவாந்தகன்.

புத்தி தேவியிடம் கூறினார் மகோற்கடர்,
“யுத்தம் புரிவாய் வீரரைத் தோற்றுவித்து!”

அஷ்டசித்திகள் எட்டு தேவியர் ஆயினர்!
கஷ்டமின்றித் தோற்றுவித்தனர் வீரரை.

மாயையால் தோன்றும் வீரரைக் கண்டு,
“தாய்க் குலம் என்று தயை காட்டாதீர்கள்!

மாயையில் வல்ல பெண்கள் அவர்களைச்
சாயுங்கள் வெட்டி இரக்கம் என்பது இன்றி!”

#43a. DevAntakan

The head of NarAntakan fell in the middle of the durbar of DevAntakan. He got angry considering this as a nuisance but he was shocked to find that the head belonged to NarAntakan. He sent out his messengers to find out everything that had happened on earth.

The messengers returned with stories of how MahOrkadar had killed all the asurA including DoomAkshan and NarAntakan. DevAnthakan wept bitter tears. He swore to avenge the death of his brother and the other asurA.

His army went down to the earth. The asurA army left alive on the earth also joined with this army. They were ready to fight MahOrkadar tooth and nail. MahOrkadar came to the battle field with four Ayudams in his four hands and accompanied by his two DEvis. He saw the asurA army extending like an endless ocean. DevAntakan was on his chariot in the middle of his army.

MahOrkadar told Buddhi DEvi, “Go and fight that army of asurA with the army created by you”. She created eight new DEvis out of the ashta siddhis. Those eight DEvis created their own armies by the power of their MAyA.

DevAntakan watched the army being produced by them through MAyA. He told his men, “Do not show any mercy to those women since they are experts in the MAyA warfare. Kill them all as soon as you get a chance”.

12#10f. திக்பாலகர்கள்

உள்ளது புஷ்பராக மயமான பிரகாரம் இதன் முன்;
உள்ளன இங்கே அனைத்தும் புஷ்பராக மயமாக.

பூமி, வனம், மணி மண்டபம், தூண்கள் மற்றும்
பொய்கைகள், தாமரைகள் பறவைகள் எல்லாம்.

இரத்தின மயமாக விளங்கும் இந்தப் பிரகாரம் ;
பிரகாசம் அதிகம் கொண்டுள்ளது இந்த பிரகாரம்!

இருப்பர் இங்கே தத்தம் ஆயுத, வாகனங்களுடன்
இருக்கும் பிரம்மாண்டங்களின் திக் பாலகர்கள்!

இருக்கும் கிழக்கில் அமராவதி பட்டணம்;
இருக்கும் உபவனங்களுடன் உன்னதமாக.

இந்திரன் வாசிப்பான் தேவர்கள் புடைசூழ,
இந்திராணி தேவ கன்னியருடன் இன்பமாக.

வன்னிபுரி இருக்கும் அக்னி கோணத்தில் - இதில்
வசிப்பான் அக்னிதேவன் ஸ்வாஹா ஸ்வதாவுடன்.

யமபுரி பட்டணம் உள்ளது யமதிக்கில் - வசிப்பான்
யமன் தன் நாயகியோடும், சித்திர குப்தனோடும்.

வருண திக்கில் வாசம் செய்வான் மது மயக்கத்தில்
வருணதேவன் நாயகியோடும், வாஹனத்தோடும்.

12#10f. MaNi Dweepam (6)

Next to the golden enclosure is the ninth enclosure made of the red hued PadmarAgagemstones. Everything seen inside this is made of PadmaRAga gemstones.

Next to this wall there are other enclosure walls built of various other gems and jewels and everything inside the enclosure is made of the same gemstones.


The Cosmic DikpAlakAs ( those representing the sum total of all the DikpAlKAs of the various brahmANdAs ) reside here with their Devis, vAhanAs and retinues.

On the Easter side is AmarAvati , the dwelling place of IndrA. AirAvat, IndrAni, Apsaraand all the DevAs live here in absolute pleasure and enjoyment.

Agni lives in his city situated in the south-eastern corner with his two wives SwAhADevi and SwadhA Devi, his VAhanA and the other DevAs.

The city of Yama, the God of Death is situated in the South. Dharma RAja holding his dandam or punishing rod lives here with his assistant Chitragupta and several other hosts.

5#30a. நிசும்பனின் வீழ்ச்சி (1)

“வெற்றி அல்லது வீர மரணம்” என நிசும்பன்
சற்றும் சளைக்காமல் சரமழை பொழிந்தான்.

காளியிடம் கூறினாள் தேவி நகைப்புடன்,
கலகத்தரக்கர் பலர் மாண்டதைக் கண்டும்

கனவு காண்கின்றான் நம்மை வென்றுவிட.
கணப் பொழுதும் சிந்திக்கல்லை விளைவை.”

மறைத்தாள் நிசும்பனை அம்புத் திரையினால்;
அறுத்து ஏறிந்தான் நிசும்பன் சரத் திரையினை .

யானைக் கூட்டத்தில் புகுந்த சிங்கம் போல
அசுரர்கள் கூட்டத்தில் நுழைந்தது சிங்கம்.

“முதலில் கொல்வேன் காளியைப் போரில்.”
முடிவு செய்தான் நிசும்பன் மனத்தளவில்.

வியந்தான் தேவியின் வீரக் கோலம் கண்டு
பயந்தான் “இவளை நான் வெல்வேனா?” என.

“அபயம் அளிக்கின்றேன் அசுர வீரரே – உமக்கு
அபாயம் இல்லை பாதாளம் சென்று விட்டால்!”

சினம் கொண்டான் நிசும்பன் இது கேட்டு.
சிங்கத்தைத் தாக்கினான் தன் உடைவாளால்

தடுத்தாள் தேவி தன் கதாயுதத்தினால்;
அடித்தாள் நிசும்பனைப் பரசுவால்,

தொடர்ந்தது ஒரு கடும் போராட்டம்;
நடந்தது நீண்ட நெடிய காலத்துக்கு.

5#30a. The fall of Nisumban (1)

Nisumban had decided to “Do or Die” in his mission. He shot arrows on the Devis. Maha Shakti laughed and told kaali,” Even after witnessing the death of so many valiant asuraas, he thinks that he can defeat us!”

She covered Nisumban with a screen of arrows and Nisumban tore open that screen of arrows.
Devi’s lion entered among the asuraas as a lion entering among a herd of elephants.

Nisumban decided to do away with Kaali first before defeating Mahaa Shakti. He was wonder struck by the valor and beauty of the Mahaa Shakti and doubted for the first time “Will I be able to defeat this brave Devi?”

Devi took pity of the foolish asuraa warriors and spoke to them, “I shall give you abhayam. You all may sill live if you agree to go back to paataalam.”

Nisumban’s ego was aroused and he attacked Devi’s lion with his sword. Devi stopped his blow with her mace and hit him with her parasu. A terrific war ensued and continued for a very long time.

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#43b. கறுப்புக் குதிரை

சக்தியர் எண்மரும் எதிர்த்தனர் அசுரனின்
சக்தி வாய்ந்த தளபதிகள் எண்மரை போரில்.

ரத்த ஆறு ஓடியது செந்நீராகப் பெருகி!
சுத்த வீரர்கள் குவிந்தனர் மலைகளாக!

தளபதியார் மாண்டனர் தேவியர் கைகளில்;
தலைவர்கள் இல்லாத படை சிதறி ஓடியது.

தேவாந்தகன் தாக்கினான் தேவியர் எண்மரை.
தேவிகள் அங்கே செயலற்றுப் போய்விட்டனர்.

தோற்றுவித்தாள் புத்தி தேவி ஒரு சக்தியை!
சாற்றினாள் “காப்பாற்று தேவியர் எண்மரை!”

அட்டஹாசம் செய்த சக்தியைக் கண்டதும்
அச்சம் அடைந்தனர் அசுரனின் படைவீரர்கள்.

வாரி வீசிக் கொன்றாள் அசுரரை அந்த சக்தி.
வாரி விழுங்கி விட்டாள் தேவாந்தகனையும்.

நுண்ணிய ரூபம் எடுத்தான் தேவாந்தகன்.
பெண்ணின் மூக்கு வழியே வெளிப் பட்டான்.

ஓடினான் தந்தையிடம் அறிவுரைக்காக.
நாடினான் போரில் வெல்லும் உபாயம்.

“மஹா மந்திரம் உள்ளது ஒன்று! அதை நீ
ஹோமத்தில் ஜபித்து ஒரு யாகம் செய்தால்,

வெளிப்படும் அழகிய குதிரை குண்டத்தில்.
அளிக்கும் அது போரில் வெற்றி வாகையை.”

யாகம் செய்தான் தேவாந்தகன் விரைந்து;
யாகம் தந்தது கறுப்பு நிறக் குதிரையினை.

தோன்றினர் படைவீரர்கள் குதிரையுடன்;
தோன்றின ஆயுதங்கள் படைவீரர்களுடன்.

ஏறினான் யாகப்பயனான அப்பரியின் மீது.
போரில் பங்குகொள்ள விரைந்தான் அசுரன்.

43b. The black horse

The eight DEvis fought with the eight valorous generals of the asurA army. The dead bodies of the soldiers were heaped like mountains and blood flowed as a red river. The eight generals got killed by the eight DEvis. The asurA army ran in confusion – without a leader to lead it.

DevAntakan fought with the eight DEvis and they were unable to fight any more. Buddhi DEvi created one more Shakti and commanded her to go and save the eight DEvis. The new Shakti managed to infuse fear in the hearts of the asura army.

She killed the asuras by throwing them around and by swallowing them in mouthfuls. She swallowed DevAntakan also. He changed to the size of an atom and came out through her nose. He went to consult his father as to how to win in this war.

His father told him, “There is one mahaa mantra. If you do japam of that mantra and perform a yAgA, a horse will appear from the yAga kuNdam. It will surely make you victorious.”

DevAntakan performed the yAgA in a hurry and a shining black horse emerged from the yAga kuNdam. Many soldiers appeared from the yAga kundam and along with them many deadly weapons also.

DevAntakan sat on the black horse and rushed to the battlefield immediately.

12#10g. அஷ்டதிக் பாலகர்கள் (2)

வாயு கோணத்தில் வசிப்பான் வாயுதேவன்
யோகியருடனும், மருத் கணங்களுடனும்.

பரந்த விழிகளுடனும், தன் நாயகியுடனும்,
விரைந்து செல்லும் மான் வாஹனத்துடனும்.

வடக்கு திசையில் வசிப்பான் யக்ஷ லோகத்தில்
விருத்தி, ரித்தி என்னும் தேவியருடன் குபேரன்.

நவ நிதிகளோடும், பெருத்த வயிற்றோடும்
நாயகனாக விளங்குவான் சம்பத்துகளுக்கு.

ஈசன கோணத்தில் உள்ளது ருத்ர லோகம்;
ரத்தினங்களால் அமைந்த அற்புத லோகம்.

வசிப்பார் ஈசானன் என்னும் ருத்திரர் - கோப
வசப்பட்டவராகப் பிரகாசமான விழிகளுடன்;

நாண் ஏந்திய வில்லுடன்; சூலாயுதத்துடன்;
மூன்று விழிகளுடன்; அக்னி முகத்துடன்;

பத்துக் கண்டம், பத்துப் பாதம், ஆயிரம் புஜத்துடன்
பத்திர காளி, 11 ருத்திரர்கள், வீர பத்திரர் புடைசூழ.

அணிவார் தலை மாலை, பாம்பு வளையங்கள்;
அணிவார் புலித் தோலை, யானைத் தோலை.

அணிவார் மஹா ஸ்மசானத்தின் சாம்பலை;
கணங்கள் புடை சூழ வீற்றிருப்பார் ருத்திரர்.

12#10g. MaNi Dweepam (7)

On the north-western corner, VAyu Deva lives with his wife and the Yogis who had perfected their practice of PrAnAyAma. VAyu holds a flag in his hand. His VAhana is a deer and the forty nine Maruth GaNas are his family members.

On the north lives Kubera - the King of Yakshas - with his Devis Vriddhi and Riddhi. He is in possession of the gems and jewels of Nava Nidhi. His generals and retinue also live here.

On the north eastern corner is situated the Rudra loka, decorated with priceless gems. Rudra Deva lives here. He holds a bow in his left hand. The stock of arrows is hung on his back. He looks very angry with his reddened eyes.

The other Rudras surround him carrying bows, spears and other weapons. Their faces inspire fear and terror ! Fire comes out from their mouths. Some of them have ten hands; some have a hundred hands and some others have a thousand hands.

கிரீஷ்ம ருது

உள்ளது வடக்கில் ஈயப் பிரகாரம் ஒன்று;
உள்ளன மனம் கமழும் சந்தன மரங்கள்.

உள்ளன பொன்னொளி வீசும் அற்புத மரங்கள்;
உள்ளன அமுதச் சுவையுடன் கற்பகத் தருக்கள்.

இருப்பான் இங்கு கிரீஷ்ம ருதுவின் நாயகன்;
இருப்பர் அவனோடு சுக்ரஸ்வ, சுகிச்ரீ இருவர்.

தாபம் தணிவதற்குத் தங்குவர் இங்கு;
வேதம் அறிந்த சீலர்களும் இருப்பர்.

மங்கையர் அணிவர் சந்தன மலர்களை;
தங்குவர் நீரின் குளுமையை விழைபவர்.

வர்ஷ ருது

உள்ளது பித்தளைப் பிரகாரம் இதற்கும் வடக்கே
உள்ளன அரிச் சந்தன மரங்கள், புல்வெளிகள்

காமவயப்பட்ட மனம் போல் கலங்கிய பொய்கை;
களைக் கட்டுவர் சித்தர்கள், அமரர், தேவி பக்தர்கள்.

சுகித்திருப்பர் இங்கு மனைவியுடன் நற்கர்மம்
இக வாழ்வில் பண்ணிய புண்ணிய சீலர்கள்.

மேகவாஹனன் வர்ஷ ருது வசிப்பான் இங்கே;
மேகமே அவன் கவசம்; மின்னலே அவன் கண்கள்;

இடியே அவன் குரல்; வானவில்லே அவன் வில்;
வடியும் வர்ஷ தாரைகள் அவன் கை பாணங்கள்;

தேவியர் பன்னிருவர் ஆவார் வர்ஷ ருதுவுக்கு!
மேவிய இன்பத்துடன் வாழ்ந்திருப்பான் இவன்!

12#10d. Greeshma and Varsha rutu

Next is the enclosure wall made of lead - within which there is the garden of the SantAnaka tree. The fragrance of its flowers extends far and wide. These flowers appear golden in color and are always in full bloom. Its fruits are very sweet like nectar.

Greeshma Rutu or the Summer Season resides here with his two wives Sukra Sreeand Suchi Sree. The residents of this place remain under the trees - to escape being scorched by the heat of summer.

Various Siddhas and Devas inhabit this place. The females get their bodies all anointed with sandal paste and decorated with flower garlands. They carry small fans in their hands. The water is very cool and refreshing.

Next to this comes the enclosing wall made of brass. A garden of Hari Chandana trees is situated inside it. Its ruler is the Rainy Season.The lightnings are his eyes; the clouds are his armour, the thunder is his voice and the rainbow is his bow. The streaks of rain are his arrows.

He has twelve wives namely (1) Nabhah Sree (2) Nabhahsya Sree (3) Svarasya (4) RasyasAlinee (5) AmbA (6) DulA (7) Niratni (8) Abhramantee (9) Megha YantikA (10) Varshayantee (11) ChivuNikA and (12) VAridhArA

All the trees, plants and creepers flourish well. It looks green everywhere.The rivers flow filled with strong currents.The tanks here look disturbed like the minds of persons attached to worldly things.

The devotees of the Devi, the Siddhas, the Devas and those who did good karmasduring their life time live here with their wives.

5#30b. நிசும்பன் வீழ்ச்சி(2)

தாக்கினான் தேவியின் சிங்கத்தை – தேவியோ
ஆக்கினாள் அவன் சிரசை உடலிருந்து வேறாக.

சிரமறுந்த பிறகும் நிசும்பன் சுற்றி வந்தான் – தன்
கரங்களில் ஆயுதங்களை ஏந்திய வண்ணம்!

வெட்டினாள் தேவி அவன் கை, கால்களை;
தட்டுத் தடுமாறி வீழ்ந்து மாண்டான் நிசும்பன்.

ஓடினர் அசுர வீரர் சும்பாசுரனிடம் மீண்டும்;
தேடினான் இளவலை அசுர வீரர் இடையே.

“வீழ்ந்தான் களத்தில் நிசும்பன் அரசே! இனி
வாழ்வோம் நாம் போரைக் கைவிட்டால்;

பெண்ணல்ல வந்துள்ளவள் அறியும் அரசே!
பெண்ணுருவத்தில் வந்துள்ள மரண தேவதை.

காலம் கனியும் வரை மறைந்து உறைவோம்;
காலம் கனிந்த பின்னர் அமரரை வெல்வோம்.

அனுகூலமான காலம் அளிக்கும் நன்மை.
பிரதிகூலமாகும் காலம் அவதிப் படுத்தும்.

தோல்வியல்ல நாம் பாதளம் செல்வது;
தோல்வியாகும் வீணே உயிர் துறப்பது!

அஞ்சி ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர் தேவர்கள் அன்று;
வஞ்சியை அனுப்பியுள்ளனர் இங்கு இன்று.

காலம் கனியக் காத்திருந்தனர் அமரர்;
காலம் கனியக் காத்திருப்போம் நாமும்!”

5#30b. The fall of Nis’umban (2)

Nis’umban attacked Devi’s lion. Devi decapitated him propmtly. The headless body of Nis’umban went around the battle field wielding his weapons. Devi then cut off his legs and arms. Nisumban fell down now quite dead.

The asura warriors ran back to Sumban. He was looking for his brother Nisumban among them. The asuras said, “Nisumban is dead too. The only way to escpe death is to go back to PAtAlam now. It is not a woman who has come here. It is the fearful angel of death in the guise of a woman.

Let us live in hiding till the time becomes more favourable to us. After that we can defeat the Devas very easily. There is nothing wrong in going to PAtAlam and abiding for a more fortunate time.

It is utterly foolish to get killed in vain. The Devas had gone into hiding previously. Now they have sent this strange and strong woman to fight with us. If they could abide for a more favourable time, we too can do the same now.”

#43c. போஜன சாலை

எதிர்த்தனர் தேவாந்தகனை ஒன்றாகக் குரூரன்,
எண்மர் சக்திகளுடன் அந்த பிரமாண்ட சக்தியும்.

அசுரர் படையைச் சிதறிடித்தது தேவர்கள் படை;
அசுரர் பலம் அதிகரித்தது கறுப்புக் குதிரையால்!

தடுத்தான் தேவாந்தகன் தேவர் அஸ்திரங்களை;
விடுத்தான் தேவர்படை மீது தன் அஸ்திரங்களை.

தோற்றுவிக்க விரும்பினான் பெண் பூதத்தை;
தோன்றும் யாககுண்டத்திலிருந்து அப்பூதம்.

மயக்கினான் தேவரை மோகன அஸ்திரத்தால்;
மயக்கியது ஆடல், பாடலால் கந்தர்வ அஸ்திரம்!

மறந்தனர் போர்க்களம் என்பதை தேவர்கள்;
துறந்தனர் போர்த் தொழிலை முற்றிலுமாக!

யாகம் செய்தான் யுத்தகளத்தில் தேவாந்தகன்;
யாகத்தின் முடிவில் வெளிப்பட்டது பெண்பூதம் .

“ஆகாரம் வேண்டும்” அலறியது அது பசியால்;
“ஆகாரம் அதோ!” எனக் காட்டினான் தேவர்களை.

வாரி வரி விழுங்கலானது பூதம் தேவர்களை;
போர்களம் மாறியது ஒரு போஜனசாலையாக!

ஞான அஸ்திரத்தை எய்தார் மகோற்கடர்,
ஞான அஸ்திரம் போக்கியது மயக்கத்தை.

மயக்கம் தெளிந்தது, ஆடல் பாடல் முடிந்தது;
சுய உணர்வு மீண்டும் பெற்றனர் தேவர்கள்.

பூதத்தைத் தாக்கியது புத்திதேவியின் சக்தி
பூதத்தை அழித்தது புத்தி தேவியின் சக்தி.

#43c. BhojanasAlA

Krooran, the eight DEvis and the new Shakti attacked DevAntakan together. The asurA had become stronger because of the black horse obtained from the yAga kuNdam.

DevAntakan stopped the asthrams fired by the DEvA. He shot asthrams on the DEvA. He wanted to create a female Bootham in the war-field. For this he would have to perform a yagna then and there.

He shot his mOhana asthram which made all the DEvA become completely deluded. The gandharva asthram made them listen to music and witness beautiful dances. The DEvA forgot that they were in a battle field and they stopped fighting completely.

DevAntakan used this opportunity to perform a yAgA in the battle field. A huge female bootham emerged. It shouted, “Give me food! I am hungry!” DevAntakan pointed out the DEvA and said, “There is your food!”

The bootham started swallowing the DEvA in mouthfuls. The war field became a dining hall for the female bootham. MahOrkadar shot his JnAna asthram. It broke the effect of the other asthrams fired by DevAntakan.

The music and the dance stopped. The DEvA came out of their delusion. The Shakti created by Buddhi Devi tore apart the bootham created by DevAntakan.

உள்ளது குங்கும வர்ணப் பத்மராகப் பிரகாரம்;
உள்ளது புஷ்பராகப் பிரகாரத்துக்கு முன்னால்.

உள்ளன பல மண்டபங்கள் பத்மராகத் தூண்களுடன்;
உள்ளனர் மண்டபங்களில் அறுபத்து நான்கு சக்தியர்.

விளங்குவது சக்தியராக அறுபத்து நான்கு கலைகள்;
விளங்குபவர் தத்தம் லோகங்களின் அதிபதிகளாக.

வசிப்பர் அங்கு தம் வாகனங்கள், கணங்களோடு;
வசிப்பர் அங்கு சக்தி கணங்கள் தத்தம் சக்தியரோடு.

குறிப்பு

அறுபது நான்கு சக்தியரின் பெயர்கள் அளிக்கப்படும்
ஆங்கிலத்தில் மட்டுமே, சரியான உச்சரிப்பைக் காட்ட.

5#31a. சும்பாசுரன் வதம் (1)

சிவந்தான் கண்கள் சும்பாசுரன் – பிறகு
சினந்தான் அறிவுரை கூறிய அசுரரிடம்.

“எனக்கே அறிவுரை கூறும் துணிச்சல்
எங்கிருந்து வந்துள்ளது உங்களுக்கு?

பறி கொடுத்தேன் மதியமைச்சர்களை;
பறி கொடுத்தேன் வலிய தளபதிகளை.

பறி கொடுத்தேன் என் இனிய இளவலை;
பலி கொடுப்பேன் என் உயிரையும் நான்.

நாணமின்றிப் பாதாள உலகம் சென்று
நான் மட்டும் உயிர் வாழ்ந்திடுவேனோ?

அறிவேன் நானும் காலத் தத்துவத்தை – நாடி
வருகின்றன வினைப் பயன்கள் நம்மைத் தேடி.

சக்தி இல்லை நம்மிடம் காலத்தை மாற்றிட.
சக்தி உண்டு தெய்வத்திடம் காலத்தை மாற்றிட.

தெய்வ சக்தியே வலியது எக்காலத்திலும்;
தெய்வ சக்தியை மதிக்கின்றேன் நான்.

செய்ய முடியாது காலம் எந்தத் தீமையும்;
செய்ய விடாது நான் நம்புகின்ற தெய்வம்;

நிலைத்து நிற்கும் உலகில் புகழ் ஒன்றே;
நிலையற்றவை உடல், பொருள், ஆவி.

நிலையற்ற உடலின் உதவியால் நான்
நிலையான புகழை ஈட்ட வேண்டும்.

செல்வோம் போருக்கு எஞ்சியவருடன்;
செல்வது செல்லட்டும்! வருவது வரட்டும்!”

5# 31a. The fall of S’umbAsuran (1)

S’umbAsuran’s eyes glowed red like live coals with his rising anger. He roared at the asura warriors who had dared to advise him to surrender unconditionally to MahA Devi.

“What gave you the courage to advise me thus? I have lost my loyal ministers in this war. I have lost my valiant generals in this war. I have lost my dear younger brother Nis’umban in this war. I am willing to give up my life also in this war.

Will I run away to PAtAlam shamelessly and live in hiding just to save my hide? I too know the importance of The Time Factor and how it affects the flow of our life. The fruits of our past karma keep coming to us relentlessly.

We are powerless to change the Time Factor. But God who is more powerful can defeat the Time Factor. I believe in God and that beleief will protect me from the ill effects of this unfavorable time. God will not allow the bad time to affect me badly.

In this world the only things that lives after us are our name and fame. The human body, our possessions and our life will all get lost. I have to earn the immortal fame by sacrificing my mortal body.
Let us go to the war front with the remaining soldiers. Those who want to go away and live safely in PAtAlam may do so. Those who want to go with me to the war front may do so.”
