Dear Renu,

I think the OP knows the easiest way to get five stars for this thread!

I am waiting for the entry of the member who bestows stars, soon after his first post!
Well, I will be more than happy to bestow that "honor", to any thread for that matter. Members of this forum, just let me know, it does not matter what the thread is about, I will give it the 5 star thumbs up ....

Dear Doc,

I am afraid you are not getting the point. What was the motive behind OP is not known. But what can be gleaned from the responses is the motives of the repugnant BBs. They accuse Brahmins of generalizing positive traits but they have no problem in heaping abuses against the brahmins. That is the hypocrisy, I am talking about. This hatemongering and abusive attitude is not human nature. It is a special feature of these BBs here.

Dear Sir,

One thing we have to admit that Forum has been a bit silent for a while..mostly its about Logic/Maths Indian Style/Brahma Sutras etc..I too did not see you actively participating in those threads...but now we have a caste based thread and everyone is in full gear!LOL

So the best thing to do is choose which side you are on..Either Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader and let the Star Wars begin!LOL

After all Darth Vader is also bashing his own kind..he is Anakin Skywalker (father of Luke Skywalker)

Dear Doc,

I will be more than happy to ignore the BBs if only "neutral' people do not fall for their shenanigans!

The question raised by the OP is simply a casteist attack against Brahmins. Only the BBs can rejoice out of this situation!

You have gone unhinged. I did not make up the quote I cited, I copy pasted what one of your cohort Brahmin supremacist actually said. It is not surprising that your caste supremacist mindset sees valid criticism as "abuses". But where is the hypocrisy you are so desperately trying to caste on others.

Once again, KB, if you are an honest person, answer the charge of OP, don't hide behind cowardly excuse that everyone does it. Don't change the subject.

This hatemongering and abusive attitude is not human nature. It is a special feature of these BBs here.
Oh yea, it is so convenient to change the subject, isn't? The charge of "hate mongering" coming from a caste supremacist like yourself is a badge of honor. Answer the charge of OP, if you can. I know you can't because you wear the caste albatross around your neck.

Dear Sir,

Hypocrisy is found anywhere.

So its no big deal if you ask me..anyone can be a hypocrite be it Brahmin or Non Brahmin.

We ourselves might one day need to be a hypocrite to escape a situation.

Hypocrisy might also come in handy if one wants to be be a politician.

So I dont think anyone will generalize that all Brahmins are hypocrites.

What a load of BS. What is exactly the charge of OP? Why am I (or anyone in this forum) responsible for answering this charge? How does that make me dishonest? Who is unhinged?

I know that the mindset that you accuse to be supremacist was providing an answer to the hatemongering mindset. It is no surprise to me that you view hatemongering as a valid criticism.

The charge of "hate mongering" coming from a caste supremacist like yourself is a badge of honor.

Sure, all hatemongers are proud of their hatemongering. Wear your badge of honor with pride!

Dear Sravna,

That is denial..its is not good to be in a state of denial...after a while denial leads to delusion.

After all even religion teaches us to realize and admit our mistakes and work on it.

That is Sathyam Vada..(being truthful to one's own self) and only then Dharmam Chara follows.

Hypocrisy is NOT Sathyam.

One can choose to be silent if he does not want others to know his flaws but never should he justify hypocrisy.

Dear Renuka,

If one realizes his mistakes it is different. He is likely to take steps to correct his mistakes. But I am talking of one not realizing his mistake and also has no fear in displaying such weakness
to others.

For example, an hypocrite may say lying is bad but he himself may lie. But consider the case when one says it is not bad to lie. In the former there is some control in you but in the latter there is absolutely not.

Which is exactly what the first few respondents said including yourself. So what is this hullabaloo about?

Please wake up. Would you?

i am not following this thread so far...but srvana's post caught my eye.

according to the online dictionary, a hypocrite is 'a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs'

now each of us can look at the definition of a vedic brahmin and compare our livestyles. KRS who is absent here now, used to call us all percentage brahmins. even the most 'orthodox' ones are maximum 30% (for example) compared to me (10%?).

does the 30% has the right to point fingers at the 10%? is it the pot calling the kettle black?

i dont know. it is upto each of us to look at ourselves honestly. truly i believe, if we all recognize how low we have all fallen from our presecribed ideals, we would hasten to mingle ourselves with our fellow tamils. but instead we look to solace and numbers with brahmins of other states, with whom all we have common is the cross thread across our shoulders and some vedic customs which we imbibe without heart and soul.

all in all, very confusing thread.

Dear Sravna,

A person who does not realize his mistakes and also has no fear displaying such weakness is usually having a borderline personality disorder or is delusional.

So they can be forgiven cos its beyond their control to realize that.

But a hypocrite is different..he wants to project an outer image that is different from what he is and finds fault with others.

Actually as long as a hypocrite shuts his mouth and does not comment on others its fine...no one even needs to know that he is a hypocrite.

The problem is Hypocrites cant keep quiet!LOL

Yes..this thread woke the Forum slumber!

See how active it has become overnight?

5 stars too.

Gimme More Gimme More..I want action!

Dear Shri Kunjuppu,

We cannot suddenly get transformed from a barbaric person to a refined one. I think the percentage is important. Brahmins have flaws but they also have the fear or at least they used to have, that flaws do not have the moral sanction and hence one cannot openly sanction it.

Dear Renuka,

You tell me if one is a liar, should he admit that he is a liar and say to everyone that there is nothing wrong with lying? Is that better than hypocrisy?

......... So I dont think anyone will generalize that all Brahmins are hypocrites.
Dear Renu,

I think you should have written, "So I don't think anyone CAN generalize that all Brahmins are hypocrites."
Most of the BB posts are generalizing the whole community and you should be aware of this! :ranger:

Dear Renuka,

You tell me if one is a liar, should he admit that he is a liar and say to everyone that there is nothing wrong with lying? Is that better than hypocrisy?

Dear Sravna,

A good liar does not make it known that he/she is a liar...cos if he/she admits that he/she is lying that means he/she has spoken the truth!

A good liar is a person who does not preach that lying is good or lying is bad.

Like a skillful unfaithful wife can have a go with her lover and come home and smile at her husband and say 'I love you honey"....now that is a good liar.

She is surely not going to tell him "you know its good to have an extra marital affair" cos then the cat will be out of the bag.

Liars are very discreet.

Its the ones who are delusional that say 'Oh lying is good..everyone should lie..after all nothing is real in this world..so why even speak the truth..God Himself is a hypocrite..He uses Maya to lie to us and stays out of with by being a silent witness..so come on come on ..keep lying babe"

Now hypocrisy is when a person knows he/she has flaws but is afraid that in case the word gets out and he/she might get a bad name and acts good outside and has a Holier Than Thou attitude just to cover up his/her tracks.

I hope you get the difference now..between a liar..delusion and a hypocrite.

Saint Thyagaraja says about hypocrites in this song:

theliyalEru raama
raagam:
dhEnukaa

pallavi: teliyalEru rAma bhakti mArgamunu

anupallavi: ilanantaTa tirugucunu galuvarincErE gAni

caraNam:
vEgalEci nITa munigi bhUti bUsi vallanenci veliki shlAganIyulai

bAga paika mArjana lOlulai rEgani tyAgarAja vinuta

Meaning:

O Rama, we do not know the path of devotion! Men in this whole world only roam about in tension all over without being aware of

the path of devotion. They get up at dawn, attend to their ablutions, wear the emblems of creed and count the beads, appearing

to be spiritual and religious, but busy with their working out the strategy for making money by hook or crook.

Source: Carnatic Songs - teliyalEru rAma

P.S: Renu! The rAgam rhymes with your name! :)

No doubt we are hypocrites (or at least I am one,). That is the reason we are able to survive all the impediments forced on us and set to progress in life. For every restrictive rule, whether it is religious or social.we found a saving clause (prayaschitham) to escape. This world is for the survivors and the human evolution has taught the "survival of the fittest" - not the strong but the smart only survives. Let us not forget our lives are shaped mostly by external forces of the society wherein we live.
