But in the meanwhile, the Respondent had to run necessarily behind a Lawyer, attend Court, spend money,etc and thus taste the resultant bitter experience.

I am looking at this way too, - what if God gave the brother enormous wealth to see if he helps his sister in need so that he can pack some good 'karma' points. Won't he be sinning more if he doesn't help?

Used to be simple, you do the charity without looking at the recipient or their motives. But that is not right anymore.
If the recipient is one of the banned organizations you might end up in jail. So you better know the recipient before you give.

+ you got to assess the individual receiving too (as auh said). there are many drunkards in the country who would not hesitate a second to spend on tasmac rather than supporting their family.
