Ideas . . . Ideas!

Unfortunately my wife will not allow holding the spoon by its wider end. Plus fingers have to be absolutely dry for it to work.

If a spoon is kept in the containers of coffee powder, soap powder etc, we need not search for a dry spoon!

When the container is full or even three fourths full, it will be difficult to put a spoon with a long handle inside.

The easiest idea is to push the handle inside and take out the spoon holding the wider end, whenever needed!

The basic RULE is to keep the fingers clean and dry when you take out any spoon,

be it from a coffee powder jar or a pickle bottle! :D

Of course, this idea will NOT work for the spoon in a pickle bottle!

This morning I had no time to prepare coconut chutney as a side dish for idlis. The 'idli moLagAipodi' bottle was empty!

! Made quarter cup of chutney kadalai (pottuk kadalai) as a rough powder; added one table spoon of Sambar powder

and one teaspoon of salt. 'MoLagAipodi' with a special taste was ready! Relished it with gingelly oil! :)

We visited a cousin at Shillong recently. The knob of the plastic latch in their bathroom latch broke. The smart illaththarasi takes

a plastic spoon provided with a washing soap powder, which has a very short handle, slides it over the broken latch to lock the door!

P.S: The picture of the good latch is from Google images.

I edited it in the 'Paint' software to show how the spoon is used! :)

Dear RR ji,

Broken bathroom/toilet doors are a rare blessing!

You know why?

When stopping in any R&R highway bathrooms/toilets sometimes the queue in the ladies can be long even though many bathrooms/toilets are available(some females I really wonder why they take so long!LOL)

Ok then I usually search for a room where the door handle is broken cos no one would use that!

So get into that and use it..after all its all females in the rest rooms..so no need to scream if anyone opens it while we are using it.

Added advantage - You can use this as an opportunity to show your talent in singing! :sing:

Talking of latches in bathrooms.........

When my son and his friend took a two bedroom apartment for rent in Boston, there was no provision to lock the bathrooms

from inside. When they requested the owner to fix the locks, he wondered why on earth anyone needs locks for the bathrooms!

The friends had to plead the owner to get the job done!

This noon, I took my favorite vegetable peeler only to find that its blade was missing! How could it vanish?

Oh! Yesterday I was peeling two raw bananas and the only possibility is that the last peel might have taken

the blade along with it! Luckily the trash was not thrown yet and I could easily trace it! When I tried to fix the

blade, first into the slot near the handle and then near the tip, it was next to impossible! So, I fixed the blade

in the slot near the tip of the peeler first. By holding the blade with a pliers, I could push the tip of the peeler

a little further to enable the other end of the blade easily slide into the slot near the handle. Ready to use! :thumb:

Moral of the episode: Never throw the veggie peels without checking for any valuables!! :spy: . . . :)

my maid sometimes gives me sambar powder by mistake instead of molagaipodi with oil . she is smarter. she does not have to consume the end product.lol

I wil give you a better idea. . Put a neat hole [small one to accomodate tail end of spoon ] on the cover of the container and allow the tail end only to project out of the

cover of the container when the cover is closed ,I have implemented it at my home. I am trying to be a house husband

these days in some hotels -eg ibis etc there are see through glass doors separating the bathroom from the hotel room .

it might appeal to some honey moon couples not to some TBs though.lol

pl do not be too sure men do not enter ladies restroom . in most malls and airports in india , ladies restrooms are just before the mens in the dim lit corridors .some might

barge in by mistake to the horror of all ladies. some men also have features of ladies like long hairs and wear unisex dresses and ear rings and could pass for ladies

Good idea. I have a ghee cup in eversilver with the same idea!

But my idea is simpler for me because we need no special care while closing the lid! :D

sorry krish. coffee powder and molagapodi needs to shut airtight, to preserve the fragrance and freshness. poking a hole on the lid would defeat this purpose. :(

Dear Kunjuppu Sir,

Very true! Moreover, the screw type lid will do 'chandiththanam' if we try to close the lid while

the container is full, in Krish Sir's method!

P.S: As I wrote to Biswa Sir, the basic rule is to keep the hands clean and dry! :)

Kunjuppu
I got it rechecked in my kitchen .you might be right . my plastic container stores salt not molagaipodi and coffee.lol

Luckily you are not in Sing. Chennai! For the humidity we have here ( which makes us sweat and run in search of Lifebuoy soap )

the salt would be all damp and wet within one day! :D

.. and we usually keep the coffee powder in the freezer and the molagappodi in the fridge..in the belief it further preserves the freshness :)

I thought of it when I posted my response

delhi temp is 38-40degrees dry heat . so far no humidity issues

Dear Kunjuppu Sir,

It happens in many houses in Sing. Chennai which accommodates a HUGE refrigerator! In fact, it will be a mini super market!

I keep only coffee powder in the fridge hoping that it will be as fresh as ever! :)

P.S: We mostly eat online food - my son's coinage - taken right away from the stove!! :becky:
