I am D.K.Satyamoorthy, a new member. I have just retired from service and am interested in spending a major part of my time in spritual pursuit. I was very active as a management system and corporate social responsibility expert, auditing and awarding certificates to various organisations. Started work with L&T(3 yrs ), continued in EIL (7 yrs ) and Det Norske Veritas ( DNV ) was the last employer with whom I stayed for 29 years until retirement.

I would welcome any opportunity that helps in enhancing my progress towards self realisation.

Historical development of Hinduism

[This is in reference to kunjuppu's views on hinduism and the related historical development of the same on which my present studies are focussed.
While many of our swaimijis with ashrams spread across the globe have similar classrooms on yoga, meditation, vedas, upanishads, gita etc they do not have ones on the historical aspects connected with the development processes of hinduism or on ones involving the movements in various parts of the country covering a few centuries commencing from vedic era.The documentary by Michael Woods of BBC on History of India seem to reflect british views as we were under them for many years and the history of hindu religion has not been properly narrated fully and completely. The loss of Pataliputhra and Nalanda libraries during successive invasions has costed us very vital links! Can our Indian Swamijis who earn so much can spend some time and effort on this aspect which also will rejuvenate our hindu reliogious studies? Any one can give some valid inputs will help me in my studies tcQUOTE=kunjuppu;29951]everyone and geetha too,

welcome here on deepavali day.

geetha, i think you are the first anthropologist that i know of, in this forum. that does not mean there are none.

also, there are many who are familiar with historical hinduism, without acknowledging their anthropological roots.

welcome, and hope you find your mates here (strictly academic ofcourse )

.. hope you have fun. please contribute. also, get into discussions and break a few heads (figuratively ofcourse):)

all of you, hope to see you guys sign in and give us your 97 .67 cents worth of thought...

thank you[/QUOTE]

Dear Venkateswaran,
It is not that bad in B'lore. There are a number of Sastrigal lile Krishna Vadhyar,Sridhara Vadhyar,Neelakanta Dikshithar,Balu vadhyar etc.You can also contact Asthik Samajam,Malleswaram or Kanchi Mutt or Sringeri mutt if you need any specific guidance.I am available for any help from 15/11 as I am away at present from B'lore.-Ramakrishnan

Very Valid point Ramki.
There are thousands of Temples in India which are in dire need of renovation and for lack of funds they are left as it is.If the swamijis with their foreign earnings can pool together and improve these temples rather than building spacious ashrams around the world.!

hi,
Our hindu religion has no name like as we call now.bcoz when there is only one religion in all over the universe obviously there is no need to name it.This name hindu itself given by britishers.and one morething all british and west scholars (so called) have really no idea about our sanathan dharm.they want all the history after 300 bc because then only they can spread christianity..and other thing is there is no vedic era like wise..because our sanathana dharmam is timeless.U can refer deivathin kural of kanchi mahaperiyava....Wester people say that vedas 7000 yrs old.it is also false..because there is no proof that vedas not present b4 7000 yrs..i don not wat methodology they are using to find the years of history..suppose if they found something how to verify...
im new to this forum...
thanks and regards..

Hi,

I am not sure if I introduced myself when I joined in Sep 2009. So here goes...
My name is Mythili Ramachandran.. born in Thanjavur, raised in Chennai and currently living in London for the past 6 years. I hail from a proper Thanjavur family and married into a Kerala Iyer family..I am very proud of my traditions and yet an ardent feminist too...contradiction of sorts.. :)
My husband Krishnan Venkataraman is also a very proud Iyer.. and I have joined on behalf of the two of us...We are hoping to gain more knowledge and improve our understanding of our culture.

We also would like to know more brahmin families living in the UK and help others who are coming here for the first time ..

Thanks
Mythili.
