Ashwin: Your sarcasm and mocking of an elderly gentleman is reprehensible.

Some info:

Ave maximum temp for the period in this month before prayers started i.e, Feb 1 -10 : 31
Ave maximum temp after prayers started i.e., Feb 11- 15: 30.6

Though the difference is still not large it is to be noted that as the month progresses the temperature also increases but actually it has decreased. Let us wait and watch. It is also to be noted the last 3 days on the days with prayers, the ave temp was 30 and the last 5 days on the days without prayers the ave temp was 32. So the prayers started when the temp was starting to average 32.

I think he might have thought of a "medical" tablet instead of an "electronic" tablet... :-)

Dear Renuka,

Science predicts that the temperature will rise. But we are praying for the opposite. If it does go up then obviously the prediction of science was correct and the prayers did not work. If the temperature goes down instead of going up then can we not conclude that the prayers worked? The more the temperature goes down the more we can be sure it is because of the prayers.

If the temperature goes down instead of going up, we can only conclude that the scientific prediction was incorrect, and not anything else.

Not necessarily Shri Auh.It is perfectly possible that the scientific prediction was correct but the prayers worked and so the temp went down.

Thank you, Sri Vaagmi for your kind suggestions and your wanting me to participate in the forum.

Actually, my son had brought a tablet (did not see what make or brand it was) and also told that he would get all the necessary contraptions which go with it so that I could use that instead of the old table-top PC. But, after a certain age, one's mind gets accustomed to old practices and there is a reluctance to take on to newer technology; may be that is the reason but I requested my son to gift it to his two-year old child who is very free with it and immediately goes to play some game - angry birds - which is very popular now, I am told!

Thanking you once again, sir.

Good advice. Sangomji is very high-tech savvy individual. I think your advice is appropriate for such a person.

Dear Prasad,

You are making me a very high-tech savvy individual, which is not true. Age has somehow limited my ability to adapt to newer technologies. Just for your kind info. pl.

sangom,

i gave up tabletop pc long ago. issue with back etc.

i use a lap and sit comfortably in a sofa with legs up, and use a side table for the mouse. am able to work extended time without body stress.

Dear Sangom,

For the first one or two months you will struggle with the new contraption. If you do not give up and persist you will get over the hump and then you will be the king. Borrow the tablet from your grandchild and try it. That will save you from a lot of unnecessary stress. And we will gain too because an old friend will always be around as usual contributing to the discussion. Give this idea a chance and then see. You may even give an idea or two to your grandchild about his/her angrybirds.:typing::typing:

I happen to possess more gadgets than you all can dream of having, fyi. It is your not so subtle mocking of a respectable gentleman which is galling. You and Vaagmi have mocked Sangom in the past, and your pretenses sound hollow now.

Bwahahaha !

My wife and daughter have strong faith in reiki. When any member of the reiki group (total must be over 5000) is in difficulty, minor (like misplacing a car key or documents, or caught in traffic on way to airport or such day to day issues) or major (someone ill or something serious), he/she contacts a few members of the group to pray and send reiki. Most of them respond and send reiki with prayers. The reiki may be a silent prayer with mudras. They claim that this works and their faith in this activity is very strong.

Our tradition and culture puts a very high value in individual and collective prayer.

We always pray for our comfort, though we know that it is a sort of selfish attitude!

I left for Sing. Chennai by bus from Pondy, after praying for a comfortable journey. An ordinary bus rushed past without stopping,

though I wished to get in the first bus that appeared. After ten minutes, a semi deluxe bus stopped with a nice front seat vacant!

I am sure it is only by God's grace. There was a light cool breeze all the way in the ECR route.

Hi to All in this thread,

First I would like to congratulate Sravna Sir for his courage to openly accept a target and starting for praying to achieve it. Surely he would have expected to get mocking and satirical replies and even then he continues with his effort. Great!!

I believe surely good thoughts and vibrations on a joint scale will surely make the world a BETTER and also a COOLER place!!

I am a student of Vedathiri Maharishi's Manavalakkalai Mandram. All sessions end up with prayers (வாழ்த்து) for self, their health, wealth, family welfare and other things and then end up praying for world peace!!

There is also a வாழ்த்து for rain !

மாரி அளவாய் பொழிய, மக்கள் வளமாய் வாழ்க!

In Coimbatore, for the past 2 years, members of the trust have organised special 'Prayer and meditation' sessions for rain and on both events it has rained in the same evening in the same locality where the event was held.

Let's hope for the best...I am also adding the வாழ்த்து for a cooler Chennai in my prayer list.

Regards and thanks
anamika.

Dear Anamika,

Thanks. The convictions that true belief in God offer are undeterrable. They have served me well and have immensely helped me to posses what I think are consistent beliefs.

I am glad that you believe in the power of prayers. I am hopeful that more people will start believing in them.

There is no doubt that mass prayers always help..The people believe in it...I was seeing in TV 2 days back, the Ayush homam done on Masi Magam day for our C.M...Huge crowds in temples praying for Amma!

Dear Folks,

Temp seems to be getting under control. It has been averaging very close to 30 for the past 7 days. I have a feeling it will get more under control as the summer progresses.
