Attachment in Detachment----

"When my daughter, the older of my two, wed and left home, I felt a part of me gone.

When she was in her teens I felt as if she was my "physical extension" !

So when she left home to set up her own, I felt I lost a limb.

Next time she came to stay with us, I was astonished how her priorities had changed.

We too must've given the same shocks to our own parents !

When she said Amma,

she meant her mother-in-law, not me!

I felt she was always in a hurry to go back to her house and not stay with me for a few more days.

That was the first time, it dawned on me that I have to start practising detachment with attachment.

Two years after my daughter’s marriage, my son left for higher studies to US.

Having experienced a child's separation once, I was better equipped emotionally.

I plunged head long into various classes held in the city starting from vedanta to healing to ikebana -

I just wanted to be away from home..since my husband was a 24/7 workaholic.

My son used to write how he was missing my home cooked food, how he was waiting to come back to live in Chennai with us ...

After a few years, he did come back and we got him married.

He started living separately with his wife and we were also happy that they wanted to be independent from the beginning...

But now, it was all changed !

When in the U S, he missed my cooking, now if I called him to come over with his wife for a meal, it was always some excuse like "oh, amma, we have other plans for the day, please don't mistake us if we don't drop in today" !

I could see that his priorities had also changed completely..

We talk so many things and give so much advice to others, but when it comes to our own children, acceptance comes very late. Our next step is to just leave them undisturbed in every way.

It was at that time, that I made the following, my 'new profile'.

In all my relationships , rather interactions, I give my best and do my best to live up to what I say.

My attachment with them is complete. However, I remain detached in the sense that *I do not expect them to reciprocate my affection.*

Most importantly, I make a conscious effort , *not to interfere or pass judgements* on the lives they choose to lead.

My *concern for my near and dear ones will not fade with my detachment.*

If you let go of the ones you love, they will never go away –

this is the *beauty of attachment with detachment !*

I have learnt to love and let go.

This dictum has developed tolerance in me.

When *I let the people live the* *way they want to, I learn to accept* *them for what they are.*

Most importantly ,

I learn to tolerate the world around me and this tolerance brings in me a sense of peace and contentment.

Since both my children live in Chennai, I follow this very strictly, you know why !

Now *I have realised that we start growing* *mentally much more only after the children leave the house* and we have to tackle the emotional vacuum, that arises, along with age-related problems .

I specially dedicate this post to my friends, who are totally dependant on their children's lives, to nurture their own selves emotionally.

Please develop your own intersts, hobbies etc, however mundane they seem to be..

We must learn

*To love whatever we do instead of doing whatever we love !!"*

Dog sentenced to death for biting child in Pakistan. News
Dog biting a man is no news, but a man biting a dog is news. But this is a bigger news that the dog was sentenced to death. Who was the advocate for the dog?
Was it Kabil Sibil?
But no report about what happened to the child.
Such things can happen only in Pakistan.

Why maida is bad for health?
There is a general awareness among ladies that maida is not good for health. Why?
Maida (refined flour) is the starchy part of the grain after the removal of its fibrous bran. Then, it is bleached with chemicals like Azodicarbonamide, chlorinegas, benzoyl peroxide, or other bleaches. Maida has also been suspected to contain traces of alloxans, a chemical that gives it the soft, refined texture.
Bleaching chemicals that are added to maida cause much harm to the pancreas, affecting its insulin-production ability. In fact, these bleaching agents are used to make diabetes occur in rodents for laboratory testing.
Alloxans are also harmful to pancreas and are responsible for causing insulin-dependent diabetes.

Baahubali a super hit in Pakistan too!
After India, it’s Pakistan’s turn to be gripped by the Baahubali 2 fever, where it’s running to packed houses in all the 100 odd theatres. This is the first dubbed regional film to release in Pakistan in a very long time, and do a business of more than 4.5 crore in Pakistani currency.
Baahubali 2
According to Kishore Kedari, Business Development Head, Arka Media Works, the Pakistan audiences have lapped the film up. “It is a huge success in all the major cities in Pakistan.” Kedari revealed.
According to veteran Pakistani distributor Amjad Rasheed, who released the film there, “The film has especially got a huge response in single screens, even though it purports mythology and Hindu tradition to a certain extent.” Rasheed reckons that it is the daredevil action, the thrill, and outstanding special effects that have appealed to the audiences. “There were initial problems in the film’s release due to apprehensions about getting a clearance from the Pakistan Censor Board,” Rasheed reveals. However, the film received an “all-clear” status from the Pakistan Censor Board, no mean feat considering the PCB is extra scrupulous about clearing films. “Baahubali 2 was passed without a single cut since the PCB did not find anything objectionable in the film,” Rashid says. The film is expected to touch the 6 crore Pakistani Rupees mark at the box-office.

Crocodile goes to temple. Why?
Karnataka temple gets unusual visitor in 12-foot crocodile. News
When most people shed crocodile tears with impunity without paying any royalty to the owner, naturally the owner is aggrieved and wants to get justice done and so has approached God himself to render justice in this issue

On the triple Talaq issue
CJI Khehar replied in a lighter vein, "If we walk the razor's edge, we will be cut into two." There is no escaping this." Another advocate, Ashwini Upadhyay, attempted to ridicule AIMPLB's stand saying tomorrow there would be a Hindu Personal Law Board to take a rigid stand on Hindu practices. The bench stopped him and said, "You are a lawyer, don't argue this."
The judge feels that dealing with this issue of Muslim faith is like walking on razor's edge and we have to be extra careful. Whereas tampering with Hindu faith is the prerogative of any Tom, Dick and Harry and any thing could be done to interfere with Hindu practices with impunity and nobody has a right to question this.

As an environmental Engineer and as one involved in promoting latrine pprogrammes in the country, I have always been insisting that IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SPEND AND BUILD LATRINES. THEY HAVE TO BE MAINTAINED PROPERLY. AN ILL MAINTAINED LATRINE IS A CURSE AND NO SOLACE. AND WITHOUT PEOPLE's COOPERATION, LATRINES ARE BOUND TO FAIL. THE BASIC REQUIREMENT IS AWARENESS AND HEALTH EDUCATION.
We were able to use these toilets only for a couple of days and later they became defunct,” said K.P Vinod, a cobbler at Thamarassery. He also alleged that the authorities had removed the electronic equipment behind the toilets and had not bothered to repair or replace them.
Many panchayats had invested upto Rs 7 lakh for setting up these toilets. Now the local bodies have to spend Rs 70,000 for the maintenance alone. “Though we repair these toilets, the same situation recurs as people are not familiar with such toilets,” says Thamarassery village panchayat president K. Saraswathi. “E-toilets and its maintenance in rural areas will be effective only if people are given proper awareness in this regard,” she added.

Threat call for Guruvayur Temple
The famed Sri Krishna temple in Guruvayur on Saturday morning received a threat call, following which its security has been tightened, police said. The temple officials received a call from an unknown person, who threatened that the shrine would be "destroyed".
The caller alleged that there was corruption in the administration of the temple, police said.
I don't think that anybody will issue threats to destroy the temple, because of poor administration. There is somethig more than what it implies.
NOBODY WILL BURN A HOUSE FOR FEAR OF BUGS.

Anguish over Hinduism's portrayal in US books
For the past several years, the Indian-American community has been battling to remove several inaccuracies and myths about Hinduism from the textbooks. The State of California mandates that the textbooks to be based on the framework laid down by the Department of Education.
The framework was revised last year amidst many controversies, including attempts by a few academics and groups to replace 'India' with 'South Asia'.
Over the past two years, the Department has made several updates to the framework based on inputs by scholars, students and the community members, mentioning Hindu concepts like Yoga and Dharma, Sages Vyasa and Valmiki and Indian achievements in science and technology.
Hindu groups in US+ pointed out that many of these changes have not reflected in the textbook drafts.
"Some publishers continue to single out and denigrate Hinduism while ignoring new additions to the framework that can help present Indian civilisation on par with other civilisations and cultures," said Sharat Joshi, a parent from San Jose.
"Negative portrayal of Hinduism has led to several instances of bullying of Hindu children in classrooms," he added.
THIS IS THE TRUE WESTERN MIND. They are biased against India and refuse to accept facts. Even in India when the lefts and the west- influenced intellectuals are prejudiced, it is too much to expect the westerners to change their views.

I am a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT lover of potatoes. My sincerest feeling is that life without potatoes is not worth living. It is a king among vegetables, but unfortunately, it has become a fashion with some to indulge in potato bashing. These potato bashers propagate the so called evils of potatoes, which are completely untenable. The virtues of potatoes are suppressed by its enemies , and all evils are attributed to it for no fault of it. It is said to be the dangerous source of carbohydrates and is blamed as being responsible for body fats and " gas" trouble. As a potato lover, I challenge all those to see me before deciding whether it is a real cause for flabbiness. For long, I tried my level best to put on flesh, but any amount of consumption of potatoes did not help me. So the accusation is false and prejudiced. Now here is an article that unravels the goodness of potatoes and breaks the myth that potatoes are a danger to good health. Potatoes are great and they become greater when consumed without removing the skin. ALL POTATO LOVERS PLEASE GO THROUGH THE ARTICLE WHICH EXPOUNDS THE VIRTUES OF POTATOES.
MY VOTE IS FOR POTATOES.
After going through this article, I am sure, you will also vote for potatoes.
Long live potatoes
Don't believe rumours unleashed by potato bashers.

All nurses cannot be Florence Nightingale. All caretakers cannot be mothers. Most caretakers take to this job not as a service but as a job. When it becomes a job, one cannot expect total dedication. It is only a way of earning and making money. Taking care of children is a mother's job which involves dedication and unlimited love and this you cannot expect from one who takes it as one among the million jobs in the world. Handling children involves besides dedication and love LOT OF PATIENCE, which you cannot expect from money seekers. Such people easily get irritated the way children behave and start ill treating and torturing them in the absence of motherly supervision. In some cases, the children are threatened and even sexually abused exploiting their innocence and such children go into tantrums which affects their future very much.
So caretakers cannot be mothers. Next best alternative for children are their grand parents. Since joint family is becoming a thing of the past, the care from grand parents is also on the wane and both the employed man and the woman are left with no other alternative but to put their children in Day care units which invariably turn into " Don't care Units" with concomitant problems

Tejas express:
On the very first day of the inauguration of the luxury express train Tejas, the train has been damaged and many of the things in the train pilfered, Being a luxury train, one normally hopes that the passengers may not be riffraffs but are from either the middle or upper middle class or rich, most of them educated and informed.
As was expected the biotoilets were misused. We Indians, at least most of us, literates or illiterates have made a name for misusing toilets. In most of the international flights, the main complaint is that in whichever flight there are more Indians travelling, the toilets in such flights are abused beyond further use by others. That is the case with all our public conveniences. Inherently we are a people who do not attach any significance for sanitation and the maintenance of latrines UNLESS IT IS A PART OF OUR PROPERTY. Street lights are broken or stolen. Waste bins kept on the roadside disappear, manhole covers are pilfered, buses are stoned and burnt, stones are hurled at passengers in running buses and trains, rails are stolen, the cheap aluminium cans in train toilets have to be chained to prevent pilferage, cushion seats are cut with blades, all public and exposed private walls are defaced and we fail not to spit in every public place. While poverty may be one of the reasons, it is not always the case. Some are done out of ignorance while most are done wantonly as an act of heroism and are done most nonchallantly. When the loot is occurring within the train, were not there fellow travellers to protest against the pilferage? While all the time we criticise the government for anything and everything, who is to be blamed for the present abuse of the facilities in the train? This is a gross misuse of public property. At this rate we can never hope to progress. IS THIS NOT AN INSTANCE TO SHOW THAT WE NEVER DESERVE ANYTHING BETTER? What is the pleasure they derive by indulging in such cheap tricks? UNLESS WE CHANGE, THE COUNTRY IS NOT GOING TO PROGRESS IRRESPECTIVE OF THE PARTY THAT RULES.
If we start running superduper fast trains, I shudder to think of those trains and the safety of the passengers. May God save the country from its people.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the three Pakistani nationals and Kerala native Mohammad Shihab had a rental agreement for their house in Kumaraswamy Layout. The Karachi-born Samira Abdul Rehman was named Najma in these documents, while Kirhon had become Kiran. These fake documents were used to get Aadhaar cards.
Aadhaar cards were originally intended to identify fakes in the country who enjoy all the privileges meant for Indians. But now we find that the fakes were able to get Aaadhar cards easily than the reals. Then Aadhaar cards lose their meaning and purpose if they can be faked. Aadhaar means Proof and to prove that the Aadhaar card one holds is genuine needs another Aadhaar card. Then what is the validity of biometrics? Hereafter a gene test, DNA test, blood test and all other personal identification tests must be done to issue Aadhaar cards and to check the genuineness of those cards where all Aadhaar cards are required.
