PLASTIC RICE
The term 'plastic rice' first surfaced in China in 2010. Dubbed the Wuchang rice scandal, Chinese officials unearthed a scam by companies who passed off ordinary rice as premium Wuchang rice by adding flavours to it. The Wuchang rice, known for its unique aroma, is exported to various nations. Chinese traders are believed to have made a huge profit through this scam.
In 2011, a report by The Korea Times said: “some distributors are selling fake rice in Taiyuan, Shaanxi Province, and this rice is a mixture of potatoes, sweet potatoes and plastic.” Needless to say, the report mentioned in detail the hazards of eating synthetic resin. Thus the term 'plastic rice' came into existence.
While we are moving to organic veggies, here is a rice that is INORGANIC. This complaint was there in the market for quite sometime, but it seems to be true. Of the many spurious and substandard products that we get from China, plastic rice seems to be new and the latest

This is not believed to be a hate crime incident. probably, it is a hate against the poor taste of the items in the eatery.
The police said that the attack did not seem to be a hate crime and the weapons used were not believed to be a knife or a blade.
The assailants must have used one or two of the menu items as weapons.

RED ONIONS FOR CANCER CURE
Eating red onions may help fight cancer, say scientists including one of Indian origin, paving the way for a natural pill that can treat the deadly disease.
Onions activate pathways that encourage cancer cells to undergo cell death. They promote an unfavourable environment for cancer cells and disrupt communication between cancer them, which inhibits growth, researchers from University of Guelph in Canada said.
Onions as a superfood are still not well known. They contain one of the highest concentrations of quercetin, a type of flavonoid, they said.
The team found that red onions not only have high levels of quercetin, but also high amounts of anthocyanin, which enriches the scavenging properties of quercetin molecules.
"We found onions are excellent at killing cancer cells," said Abdulmonem Murayyan, post doctoral student at University of Guelph.
Whether this news gets medically confirmed or not, the price of these onions will shoot up in our local markets with immediate effect

Guideline values slashed in Tamil Nadu
The AIADMK (Amma) government on Thursday slashed the guideline value for the registration of sale deed of properties by 33%, effective June 9.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami in the Secretariat here on Thursday.
However, in an attempt to bridge the loss in revenue through registration of properties, the State government has hiked the registration fee for conveyance, exchange, gift and settlement of properties to non-family members, to 4% with effect from June 9.

this is plastic age, they say. Some time back, we wer concerned with plastic wastes. but the ingenuity of the human mind is trying to find out how best it could be recycled and reused. one way of reusing plastic waste is to use it for road formation, now we have different and more commercial ways of doing the same. yes. now we have plastic rice and plastic sugar. may be in the next few years. we may have plastic dhals not dolls and more. So life is going to be more and more plastic in days to come. at present complaints have come from Telengana and Uttarkand, probably other states have not been lucky enough to go plastic.
What started as a stray complaint about ‘usage of plastic rice by a hotel’ in Saroornagar three days ago turned into a scary issue here on Tuesday with more such complaints reaching the officials. Probably, as which thought they are not able to digest now.per the theory of evolution, humans may develop a system by which they may be able to digest plastic
Taking a serious note of the growing number of complaints and apprehensions expressed by people, Telangana State Civil Supplies Department swung into action by collecting samples of rice from different suppliers. The samples were sent to the department’s laboratory for analysis on Tuesday night.

Earlier this week, an eight-year-old girl was grievously injured after she was mauled by a group of strays while playing outside her house in Rohini. This, sadly, isn't a one-off incident.
The stray dog menace is not just confined to Delhi alone. It seems to be a national phenomenon. Almost everyday we get the news of stray dogs mauling persons to death from different parts of the country. Blue Cross that objects to their destruction does not provide an alternative solution. Sterilising these dogs and again allowing them to roam in the streets does not bind those dogs from biting people. So it is the responsibility of the blue cross to take care of stray dags and provide kennels for them so that the people in the streets are saved of this menace

It may sound hard to believe that a passenger sleeps on the shuttle taking him to his flight and then waking up hours later in a locked bus to discover that the airline took off without checking whether he or she is on board. But this is precisely what happened at Mumbai airport last Sunday (June 4) with a person who was supposed to fly IndiGo flight 6E 799 to Bengaluru.
But how the hell could it happen? Was not the shuttle checked before being locked. Supposed a passenger died of heart attack, the shuttle crew may not the bothered until it starts smelling. Is it?
And how did the airline take off without checking whether the passenger who has a valid ticket has boarded the flight or not. It is a case of utter negligence on the part of the airliner

First, you will say eat dark chocolate every day, it will reduce heart attack. Then six months later, you will say if you are eating chocolate then there is no more hope, say bye to your family right now because you will die of cancer before the end of this newspaper, sorry you have died now.
Then one day, you will publish don’t even touch coconut oil, it is full of poison. Immediately, my son took all our coconut oil, threw it out, and replaced it with olive oil because everyone in Greece is only eating olive oil and country is fed up of people not dying at all. Chennai Silks
A major portion of seven-storeyed Chennai Silks building on Usman Road in T.Nagar, crumbled during the early hours of June 1, 2017, after a major fire engulfed the building on May 31, 2017. Around 14 persons, who were inside the building, were rescued and the fire had destroyed all goods stocked in the showroom by evening.
Though the estimated loss could not be immediately ascertained, sources said dress material worth several crores of rupees were gutted and gold jewellery and silver articles were beyond recovery. The estimated loss is Rs.420 crore.
Meanwhile, Housing Minister Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan said that the showroom in T. Nagar has been violating norms ever since its construction in 2000. It was an illegal construction from the time it was built. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) granted approval only for ground and four floors. Though authorities demolished three floors following violations, the building owner managed to obtain interim orders against the action from the High Court, he explained.
The tragedy part of the story is not yet over. While the building was under fire there were no human casualties, but while the building was destroyed one worker got killed. It looks as though sufficient care was not taken to protect the workers there. There is a greater possibility of people getting hurt at the time the building is destroyed because of the falling debris. While cordoning the area may prevent the public from getting involved in accidents, it is extremely important that the workers are given head gears and other devices and also instructions to keep away from danger zones.

The only river that originates in Tamil Nadu and flows through Tamil Nadu is Tambraparani. Today, even he stretch of the river which receives its flow due to the bounty of SW monsoon is going dry, What used to be the green belt of the south is going dry and getting heavily polluted. A beautiful stretch of Tamil Nadu is fast dwindling thanks to the misuse of the area by industries and people. It needs to be saved at any cost.

Kerala film fest: Centre says no to screening films on Rohith vemula, JNU. news

Glorify the two events by screening films of the two incidents. It is atrocious and deserves severest condemnation.

On the one hand, acute water scarcity, on the other hand enormous water wastage
Three days have passed since the water pipeline near Iyya Mudali Street at Chintadripet burst open, which led to a loss of wastage of thousands of litres of water, but the authorities have not attended to the problem yet. The old water pipeline incurred damages at many spots, from where the water gushes out for hours. The residents are collecting the water for their daily use.
“We had to stay without water for two-three days as we will not receive water from the pipeline. We do not want the water to get wasted and are collecting it to use it in the times of need,” said V. Jawahar, a resident.
Most of the pipe lies are very old and some get damaged during repairs to sewer lines and these are not replaced then and there. This is a sort of a perennial complaint in the city water supply. Old pipe lines beyond repair must be replaced immediately. Media should play an important role in reminding the officers concerned.

Residents complain that the water wastage due to this is unacceptable when the city is suffering from an acute water crisis.

Justice Karnan
“He turns 62 today [retirement age for a High Court judge]. [But] technically he has retired on May 9 [Friday] since it’s the last working day of his tenure,” Karnan’s lawyer Peter Ramesh Kumar told The Hindu.
Justice Karnan has been evading arrest since May 10 after the Supreme Court sentenced him to six months imprisonment for contempt of court and ordered his immediate arrest.
Mr. Kumar said the judge would not be present at the High Court on Monday as he is banned from performing his judicial duties since February by the Supreme Court. The lawyer argued that if Justice Karnan was “performing his duty as a judge till his retirement" then only he would have come to the court to complete formalities on the last day of his tenure as a judge.
But how come such an important person is missing for the past few weeks without being arrested?
