The journey of a child starts from mud/sand. For example, when we
take the children for relaxation to the beach, we may notice that they
start playing with the sand creating many things. They create mountain,
park, idols, etc. Some children make Pillaiyar. While one child makes a
thing, other child destroys it in fun. That is how, the journey towards
suffering and death comes as no surprise. Apparently the children
has no freedom and love in creation that does not embrace their thinking
at times. While the parents feel that let them get involved and know
what is what. That is the light of their mind awareness. It is not only
a beginning of creation, but sometimes it becomes an end too. Thus,
the sand and mud becomes a light of awareness through their play.
One can see their joy, if everything goes according to their desire. The
Supreme Power has created the earth and HE looks upon it as to what
is happening. Man can make living creatures out of mud, for e.g. pyramids,
some monuments, etc. Every creation has a purpose to educate us.
During Vinayaka Chaturthi, we specially buy a Pillaiyar made out of mud
for worshiping or doing Puja. It has its own sanctity. Some look for a
better a mould. Some go around for a good one. When someone has purchased
a piece, he/she feels nice and very nice, and goes around to the same shop.
HE creates everything from the mud. In olden days, everyone lived only in mud houses.
It is HIS wish that HE gave an inspiration to everyone to construct a mud house
initially. It helped everyone to understand who we are and how we are and yet
everyone lived comfortably, rather quiet and excited. The Supreme Power
is just like a light house, and it does not move over an area looking for boats
to protect them but it just stands at one place; at the beach illuminating
its light as a guide. Thus the Supreme Power is a guide to us and it is
for us to reach it with good thinking and good deeds.

Mud existed before plates and pots were made out of it; pots and plates are mud, and mud will remain when plates and pots are no more. The plate and the pot must be aware of their being always mud; that in other words, is Self-Realisation. Do not consider prayer and meditation (japam and dhyanam) as the pastime of ‘freaks, geeks and cracks’. Hold fast to them, for they alone can save you from ruin. Offer to the Lord, not flowers got in exchange for a few coins or rupees from the shop, but the fragrant flowers of your own virtues. Let tears of joy be the holy water with which you seek to wash the feet of the Lord. Consider the Lord you adore, be it Hanuman or Krishna or Jesus, as comprising of all forms of Divinity. Do not argue that other forms are less and your form is greater. Be aware that every form of Divine is equally sweet.

As one gets up in the morning open both the hands and see them
and then shut your eyes thinking the Supreme Power before getting out
from the bed and pray for a second stating that as long as the
soul is within him/her, he/she will worship HIM as taught by their ancestors.
Also add that he/she is grateful to HIM for listening his/her prayers and
encouraging him/her to serve HIM and everyone in a Satsang. One's prayer
should not be just desires and deficiencies only. Similarly, prayers have
to be done while going to bed at night. Prayers is not to be restricted
only to recite slokas or mantras whenever some good or bad thing happen.
The significance of prayer has to be with a sense of humbleness and
humility. Until one worships regularly in the morning one may not get
the needed inspiration. One has to have a proper frame of mind and worship
the Supreme Power keeping one's mind free from other thoughts with a
total dedication and concentration. Prayer can also be offered as a group
activity in a Satsang and also as an individual at home too. While chanting
the mantras or slokas, one has to focus the attention on HIM and do the
prayer with a sense of determination and not as if one does it as an obligation
because someone pressurizes. One should not discourage others while
one does the prayer and try to destroy the feelings or thinking rather than
giving encouragement. Most powerful method could be to enrich one's life
by reading through various Scriptures, which is a treasure, the Hindu religion
has provided. Above all one has to follow the path of righteousness and
thoughts and actions have to be towards serving the Supreme Power and
a Satsang, eliminating evil thoughts and egoism. If one understands the
Divine Love without any compromise, one will get everything in life thinking
that the Supreme Power is in every breath of him/her. If one recognizes this
with a perfect virtue and embraces the Supreme Power through prayer or
worship, the cloud or ignorance in the mind will get vanished.

In every one of you, God is the moving spirit, the very Soul; how then can you be evil, when you are here fulfilling God’s purpose, according to His will, His plan and His law? God has endowed you with many faculties so that you may seek Him and reach Him. You are not therefore, a helpless and neglected individual undergoing a sentence of death. You are an embodiment of bliss, born to a rich heritage, which is all yours! Only you fail to ask. Have faith in your destiny and work steadily to attain it! Devotion is attachment to God - you need not leave hearth and home for it. If the seed is planted away from the parent tree, will it grow any different? No! Boil the seed and then it will not grow again. Similarly, boil your instincts and impulses, and scorch the sensory cravings that enslave you. Then you will get nearer to God, wherever you may be.

Everyone needs a training as children need training towards learning
a lesson initially. One has to spend some time daily, which has to be
qualitative one and not quantitative as training means everything.
That is why, in the yester years, children used to be enrolled in the
Gurukulam. Everyone cannot understand the devotional aspects
without any guidance. Especially for children the mind would be
very tender and they may not know the outside world and normally
they would be honest and loving to learn that are taught.
Like that one has to have some priority everyday for learning spiritual
things. One needs a perpetual exercise for grasping the spiritual
matters. As children has creative imaginations towards truth finding,
elders too has to pay some attention in understanding the truth of
the existence of the Supreme Power and pay the attention on the
devotional exercises without any deviation of mind. Rigorous
reading of spiritual books with dedication and discipline has to be
the primary goal for attaining divine bliss. Everyone may not have
the ability to read intuitively and some require to be guided initially.
The more one spends time with HIM can understand HIM. if not alone
in a Satsang. HE wants everyone to become HIS devotee or disciple and
HE desires one's life to be a meaningful one with all the senses under control
so that one will be able to get involved in HIM without any deviation of mind
and unwanted desires or emotions.

Always remember that your education is not merely to amass wealth or to eke out a livelihood. Money cannot confer true happiness. Do not deviate from Right Conduct (Dharma) for the sake of wealth (Dhana). Dharma is our life; Truth is our breath; and Good Reputation is our wealth. You should not crave for worldly name and fame. Once you practise Dharma, you will naturally attain good reputation. Dharma is related to the heart. Practise of Dharma is termed as Ritam which will make you immortal. We have today forgotten the great scholars and those who demonstrated great ideals. We should remember people who have sacrificed their life for a noble cause and try to emulate them. It is the spirit of sacrifice that has protected and sustained this country and this Universe for many generations. Offer your lives for the protection of Dharma and not for amassing wealth.

If one desires to have self awakening and to understand the concepts of
reality of perfection in the path of Supreme Power, one has to have an
ethical vision, aspiration or desires, deeds or action, not to practice harmful
words, lead a livelihood in a simple way conducive to develop a good effort
in the right direction besides good and devotional concentration. The person
has to strictly analyse the bad and good and if need be relinquish the bad
thoughts and views. Participation in the activities of Satsang can bring a reform
in a person through service and training gradually so as to adopt a moral discipline
and concentration with a good intention, as everyone knows that every bad deed
or bad action leads to karmic effects. Sometimes ignorance becomes the basic
factor for getting into sufferings. One has to have flexibility and open mind i.e.
transparency without hanging on to wrong deeds or action because of surroundings
or environment or the community in which he/she is associated with. Whatever
the qualities or deeds that may be, which appear to be absolutely wrong or immoral
have to be abandoned totally without any second thought. Sensual misconduct, dishonest
living can also lead to bad path. Hence good thoughts, words, and deeds are
inescapable for a person to lead a dharmic life.

The same, nameless, formless and attributeless Divinity is referred to as Atma, Brahman or Vishnu by different people. The underlying principle (Atma Tattwa) is one and the same. Take the example of a house. In the front portion of the house, you will find a verandah, then a living room and also a kitchen. Thereafter, you will find a bathroom and a toilet too. Thus, there are different names for different utilities. How did they acquire these names? It is only because they are so divided by walls, for different purposes. But the truth is they are all parts of the same house. Similarly, different people have different names and they establish different relationships with many people like mother, father, brother, etc. From where did these relationships come? Everything is your own making. Remove these barriers. What then remains is a vast expanse of Oneness.

- Divine Discourse, Oct 21, 2003

Though we have only one God, it has different forms, viz. Maha Vishnu, Sarweswaran,
Goddess Durga, Kali, Chamundi, Lakshmi, Bhavani, Saraswathi, etc. For example, the
human being too has different face cuts or shapes viz. Some will be like father and
some will be like mother, Grandpa or Grandma, etc. But then, every one is born to
the same mother and father. If one wants to describe the Supreme Power, it would be
difficult as HE/SHE has different forms and one can give different forms and different
names. For example, we take service connection from the Electric Post outside the
house into the house through one wire. But then the power is supplied to different
places within the house for illuminating the light as also to operate various gadgets.
Similarly one wears different types of clothes with different fashions and styles. The
person is same. But then when a person wears different styles, he/she looks in a different
way. After reaching a certain level, the devotee comes to a conclusion on realisation
that everyone worships a Nirguna i.e. Parabrahmam while Saguna which has an
shape or attribute. A devotee gives some attributes to the Supreme Power with an
imagination to fulfill his desire or emotion to attain HIS blessings. Some also say
that HE/SHE is an indivisible Parabrahmam to explain it and that HE/SHE cannot be
divided into different parts or is described by attributes such as Durga, Kali, etc.
The Supreme Power has no physical form but then the Avatars that had taken
place are only to guide us in the right path eliminating evils. Lack of faith,
unrighteousness, wrong motives, ego, actions or deeds, and ungratefulness
to the Supreme Power can cause bad results to a devotee.

Animals have a tendency to give respect to its masters. Sometimes
animals are being used to examine the effects of harmful substances
before one attempts to do anything. Sometimes animals viz. Cows
or buffalos are virtually tortured to death for the sake of the one's pleasure.
Here, the personal character of human beings are always in a questionable
position. This also should not be done. As emotions could be curbed to some
extent by incorporating or adopting certain values and ideals, the human
being too has to control such selfishness acts from consuming animal flesh.
This is certainly possible if someone educates the people at young age
itself that this is not a wise practice. An young child's mind can be moulded
easily into any form and shape. Only thing is that one has to provide
some useful intelligent information to understand the negative aspects
and to keep away from selfish acts. One should not give a room for
selfishness and for the development of ego in one's life, particularly
towards self-centered and egotistic thoughts. The children has to
be made aware of the fact that selfish motives do not fulfill all their
expectations and realities of life. Sometimes, a selfish person hurt badly
other persons. Selfishness and ego makes some people fundamentally
incapable of living at peace with one another. The human beings have
a very high or remarkable capability to rationalize one's actions and
also justify one's selfish behavior at times. This is not a righteous path.
Hence as Baba says, one has to give up selfishness or egoism and lead
a life in the right direction to attain the divine power.

The Atmic consciousness that permeates every living being is referred to as Brahman. When it is individualised, it is called conscience. It is also referred to as Jiva. When the Atmic consciousness is encased in a body, it becomes an individual. The individual, the Atma and consciousness - all the three are one and the same. People think they are different because they are given different names. Remove the names, there is only one Consciousness in every individual. Supposing you name this object (showing a handkerchief) as Atma. It is a handkerchief in common parlance. I can call it threads or cotton. But essentially it is an object. Whatever name I may give, it refers to the same one object. There is only one Atmic consciousness in every individual. It has no form; it only assumes different forms.

The Supreme Power is between time and cause. One has to come out
of ignorance and keep away from the attachments of samsara to a certain
extent. The bondage of repetition of cycle of death and rebirth is owing to
karma. If one is able to achieve liberation from the desires and emotions
it will be easy to approach the true consciousness. Normally, one do not
usually go in very depth about the effects of personal consciousness. Some
feel or desire for things. Some have fear to approach certain things. Perhaps
owing to emotional feelings and not able to achieve the true consciousness.
But if a person gets associated with a Satsang, one can derive the social
consciousness which would pave way for the empathy, mental consciousness
etc. which may open up the mind for drawing up the capacity for understanding
and view things with compassion. Generally, for some consciousness dictates
the feelings of personal attitude or sense which turns into self or I. However,
if one is able to draw true inspiration from a Satsang or by chanting Namas of
the Supreme Power, illumination can be achieved and one will be to attain the
true consciousness of the existence of the Supreme Power. Generally moving
with a society of religious communion, one could gain experience through the
practical applications or through the books or views that are exchanged during
religious discourses.

Consider love as your life and truth as your breath. There is an intimate and inseparable relationship between love and truth. Today people use the word love without actually knowing its meaning. As they do not know the value and meaning of love, it is trivialized. People are under the mistaken notion that worldly and physical attachment is love and consider such love as large as life. True love will reign supreme only when you get rid of selfishness and develop the spirit of sacrifice. Love is God, God is love. But you are craving for worldly love which is bereft of life. You should aspire for Divine Love which is truly your very life. True spiritual discipline lies in connecting your love with Divine Love. Your life will be sanctified when you have such steady and selfless Divine Love.

- Divine Discourse, Nov 22, 2003.

Divine love is absolutely a pure one and one can feel that though there are
certain limitations in a Devotee's eyes of Krishna Premis. Getting involved or
mixed with the Divine acts or deeds are all part of our religious traditions
through spiritual experience by chanting or Namasmaranam or through ritual worships.
One has to develop divinity by attending Satsang activities on all days and reshape
one's mind if it is not falling in line with that so as to experience the divinity and
to achieve the realization of divine power. Further one has to be free from all bad
virtues such as anger, bitterness, lust, attachment, greed, and egoism. etc. Divine Love
and human emotional love are not to get mixed up, which may give certain problems
initially to practice divine love. Because, initially it becomes difficult to distinguish
between the two. Spiritual lectures and discourses unfolds one's mind in this
direction. Hence one can attend devotional lectures, pravachanams, etc as often
as possible. Spiritual journey is nothing but a purification process. When
one develops divine love, one can easily notice it in the course of time. Just
like a car, which is driven by fuel i.e. petrol or diesel, divine love is
a spiritual fuel which is required for everyone to run the human vehicle without any
hurdles to reach the destination, that is the goal of divine bliss. Once the spiritual
journey process starts, the Supreme Power will propel the vehicle with safety
to the determined destination.
