Some fear to encounter problems in life to face disappointments
because of negative thoughts. Once a person is able to identify
the problems or obstacles in life, the ideal method would be to
look in for positive thoughts by associating with people who have
positive vibrations. Initially it may be difficult to convert oneself
towards positive thoughts suddenly in all kinds of situations.
At least if someone is going through a difficult phase, one has to
start thinking of positive and divert the attention towards the
Supreme Power, who would be able to give the necessary will power
and courage in the right direction. One has to make up the mind
in the right direction towards changing the way of thinking. In such
events, one has to spend sometime on meditation exercises. Negative
thoughts leads to unnecessary stress or depression in mind. In fact
some people jot down negative thoughts in a peace of paper each day
just try to overcome. The reason being when one feels upset,
the behavior of the person too gets automatically unreasonable.
In view of the above, to ease oneself from the negative thoughts or
deeds, one has to attend the Satsang and do meditation regularly.

Sometimes people have a feeling as to how to overcome from problems
in life. Some get perplexed some do not know to get out from it. For some,
it looks an impossible task and it becomes a puzzle for a few, while for
the believers in the Supreme Power it is not so. Some speak to
themselves until he/she is fully persuaded by the divine followers to
think of Supreme Power and not to worry for passing problems, just
like a cloud in the sky covering the Sun, which could be phased out
easily by the divine blessings. It is not a question mark to those who
have confidence and faith in the Supreme Power. Some feel blessing
of the Supreme Power is only for a few and it is a gift. But then,
if one does good deed and think of HIM all times without a wavering
mind, HE will certainly bless at all times. The Supreme Power desires
that every devotee has to have a kind heart just like HIM towards the
devotee to seek HIS grace. One has to keep away from evil deeds
and worship, pray and meditate on HIM to get away from the stress
or any sort of pain that may disturb him/her. Continuous dedicated
worship could fetch HIS blessings, grace, protection, good health
and prosperity in life besides wisdom to proceed in the right path
with a proper guidance from HIS disciples.

You are under the mistaken notion that you are rendering service to others. You should give up such a feeling. Only then does the service you perform become real service in the strict sense of the term. Service does not merely mean helping others. The best way to love God is to love all and serve all. Your acts of service should be suffused with the spirit of love. Without the positive aspect of love, all service you render becomes negative in nature. All bodies are like bulbs and love is the main switch. Only when the main switch is pressed, will the bodies radiate light and happiness to one and all. You are switching off the main switch and trying to enjoy happiness. It is impossible! Hrid + Daya (compassion) = Hridaya (heart). Your heart should be filled with compassion. All your activities should be suffused with love. There is no strength superior to love.

Let us not feel shy to serve someone or help someone in times of
need or exigency. One has to think that we are the servants
of the Supreme Power to serve someone at HIS direction. It needs
a little mental shift in thinking i.e. rather a slight change in one's
attitude. We are watched by the Supreme Power about our
deeds. Sometimes, one's attitudes play a major role than the
achievements one is able to derive. One has to serve a needy
with a kind heart and humility. Some extend service just to
get a favour from others or to be in good books with him/her,
sometimes to get an admiration or appreciation; and that not
to be the goal of a person. Some say, "He/She will do this for him/her if
he/she does something to him/her in return". One should never
measure the worth by their achievements alone. This then becomes
a selfish act. If someone wants to take an unfair advantage from
someone, utilise that occasion to make him understand the principles of
life. No doubt wealth is required and acquiring for one's necessity
is not a sin. But then if one fails to use it for a good purpose or
for the real needy, the money that he/she possesses may not be
useful to him/her sometimes when such people reach certain age or the
money he/she possesses if goes out of his/her pocket. Have a Trust
in HIM and serve the needy if it is possible. Sometimes people are
afraid of their weaknesses and insecurities. Serving the needy as
Baba says, is the highest gift that one could get in life. HE will honor
and reward anyone who serves him. One may forget his/her acts or
deeds, but HE WILL NEVER FORGET and HE will show HIS Grace when
really needed.

Every individual, every family, every society and every nation seeks peace in all possible ways. People are perpetually in quest of happiness. But what is the happiness they seek? Is it worldly happiness and transient pleasures? These cannot confer true happiness. Only spiritual happiness can give true happiness. Why have people lost happiness? It is because they are afflicted with insatiable desires. These desires are the cause of various maladies. It is only by limiting desires and thereby eliminating the diseases arising from them that one can secure peace. Every person should strive in every way to achieve peace as the most desirable objective. Embodiments of Love! There is no greater happiness than contentment (Santhosham). There is no penance superior to peace of mind.

Spiritual happiness is a great bliss for a person. But then, spiritual happiness
has to find a balance between the true targets and beliefs besides the expectations
amongst the devotees while in a Satsang. Some Gurus guide the disciples the
true spiritual path. One has to maintain true spiritual characters with a uniqueness
and join the mainstream of a Satsang without any bias in the mind. One has to
have a proper spiritual thought without the mind getting polluted while participating
in spiritual exercises with the spiritual community. One has to learn to develop
and hold inner strength of the spiritual aspects focusing the mind in knowledge
provocations and aspirations towards strengthening the inner strength without
any diversion from the true spiritual path. Spiritualism not only brings
peace but also fulfillment of relaxed, balanced and creative state of mind
besides paving the way to be free from other worries such as frustration, sufferings,
negative thinking, stress, distressing emotions, problems from relatives, health
problems, etc. that one experiences. Meditation is one of the most powerful
methods to gain realization and contemplation on the Supreme Power keeping away
the emotional aspects.

A country does not mean a piece of earth. People make a country. And transformation should not be one dimensional. It is the entire process of refinement by which people get rid of their bad thoughts and actions, and cultivate good thoughts and do good acts in daily life. The value of a person is not derived from his or her educational qualifications alone. The cultural refinement of one’s lifestyle is also essential. A life without culture is like a house without light. A person without culture is like a stringless kite, which is tossed hither and thither. An education bereft of culture is worthless like a counterfeit coin. What is meant by culture? It is the realisation of the inherent Divinity in man and making it manifest in one's way of life.

- Divine Discourse, Nov 22, 1997.

About Control of Senses, Baba and many Mahans have explained in detail about them.
Control of senses is absolutely imperative for a person's good, descent and happy
living. If one is not able to do them without any control, sometimes one may have to
face many problems in life, which cannot be listed out just like that. One happens to
see many things in life and one cannot narrate it as it is, because, sometimes such
things may become an evidence and the narrator may be asked to give evidence, etc
and he/she may get into problems. Similarly ears. One may hear something which is not
palatable and that may hurt his/her feelings. Sometimes temptations lead to problems.
If one desires to get satisfied with what he/she comes across because of the desires
owing to the senses, then as one knows, there will be endless issues. If a person
assumes that he/she solves a problem, another one will crop from a different angle
and that there will be no end to it. Sometimes, one may get agitated because of
emotional acts or angry, jealousy, greed, etc. In other words, it amounts to invitation
of problems. Therefore, one has to control the senses and divert the attention towards
the Supreme Power and medidate daily for attaining the bliss of the Supreme Power.

Men and women must be governed by morality. In all countries morality and integrity should be like the life breath. It is only when people adhere to morality that human ideals like fraternity, equality and liberty can become meaningful in daily life. It is because of moral values having been given the go-by, that you find today’s society filled with disorder and unrest. The world will have respite from violence only when progress in science and technology is accompanied alongside by development of ethical and spiritual values. In the economic sphere, when one’s desires are governed by righteousness, a divine impulse will arise in that person. When the quest for wealth and the concern for worldly desires are based on righteousness (Dharma), the mind will spontaneously turn towards God.

- Divine Discourse, Feb 13, 1997.

For some life becomes confused and turns into difficult situations
and not able to satisfy the kith and kins besides one is not able to
measure the reason for the failure. A reason could be virtues too
viz.
temperament, resolution in life in guiding the mind towards good
deeds or acts, sincerity in devotional acts, cleanliness of mind and
heart, etc.
Because of unfavorable situations one gets disappointed
in the progress in one's life. True humility and good intention towards
the Supreme Power gives clarity to the mind. A person has to choose
his/her own personal inward behavior, i.e. character, in place of solely
relying routine practices. Good virtues pave way for enhancement of
moral, ethics, etc. One has to have a commitment in life for choosing
good habits and realization virtue ethics for the formation of a sound
character. Development of ethical and spiritual values are absolutely
essential for everyone. One has to strive for it.

Just as a child is entitled to enjoy the milk from its mother, there can be no objection to man enjoying the resources of nature. But as a result of uncontrolled desires and reckless exploitation of natural resources, Nature is exhibiting frightening disorders. Natural calamities like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, droughts and floods are the result of disturbances in the balance of Nature caused by this reckless exploitation. Mankind today appears like a foolish man who is wielding the axe at the branch of a tree on which he is sitting. You have to develop a sense of spiritual oneness. Out of that sense of oneness, love will grow. Man today does not recognise this sense of oneness. ‘Man’ is not the body alone. One has the mind, intellect and the Spirit (Atma) too. When the balance among these constituents is upset, people are plunged into troubles. On the other hand, when there is a balance, true humanness blossoms.

- Divine Discourse, Feb 13, 1997.

Generally a person who has an uncontrolled desires looses not only
his/her objectivity, but also suffers from empathy, prudence or
thoughtfulness and in turn may cause harm to others too. Choosing an
unreliable friends or society, expressing desires towards unwanted things
ignoring the ill-effects, using the power of wealth or political power, etc.
to oppress certain things to achieve certain goals, not listening to elders
or wisdom people, sometimes punishing people irresponsibly, expressing
violent behavior owing to frustrations in life, not accepting to forgive and
forget others ignorable mistakes, etc. are not good virtues. Money and wealth
alone does not give persistent happiness to a person. If one really wants
to eliminate unhappiness in life, one has to dedicate oneself towards the
Supreme Power at least for a few minutes a day and concentrate on HIM.

If regular worship or prayer is adopted, one can certainly get a change in
life and he/she can come out from depression or unhappiness and can
become a good person in society too. Sometimes people say that they
do not have mood to do such things. As happiness is experienced by
every part of the body of a person, devotional exercises too can bring
happiness. Sometimes, one has to raise from the above mood fluctuations
and take the life in a disciplined way and try to correct oneself.

All relationships are incidental and temporary. Hence, each one should perform his duties. As long as one is involved in worldly life, the relationships of mother and son, husband and wife, brother and sister, and the like, have to be recognized as natural phenomena. All these relationships have no permanence. Separation is inevitable sooner or later. But between you and God, there can be no separation at any time. Even if you forget God, God will not forget you. Therefore, you have to develop faith in God and cultivate love.

True education means trying to manifest the inner divinity in man. How is this manifestation to be brought about? Students must receive education that illumines every aspect of life - the economic, the political, the moral, the spiritual and the physical, the mental and the social environment of man. It should not be confined to one specific sphere. Many students consider book knowledge as education. This gives them only superficial knowledge. They need practical knowledge which will enable them to lead righteous lives. Education should also result in the purification of the heart. Men and women must be taught to be sincere in thought, word and deed, as a mark of humanness. Students must also revere their parents at all times and promote the cause of social improvement. They must co-operate with all fellow-beings. These are the things all students should learn.

As we do exercise to upkeep our physique or muscles, it is also absolutely
essential to undergo regular training in spiritual exercises also. One
has to take it as a routine act to worship or pray the Supreme Power
either during the day or during night, assigning some period of time
as a part of regular activity without neglecting it or replacing by another
activity giving more importance. Otherwise, one has to make it as a
routine to read the spiritual books as one of the obligatory duty just
like other duties. Above all, one has to establish the habit of chanting
the Nama of Baghavan regularly whenever time permits. Practical
activity alone coupled with dedicated constant prayer can make a
way for opening of a pure heart. One has to think that worship is an
inevitable activity in one's life. If one puts sincere effort, one can attain
the bliss of the Supreme Power.
