Normally a person is carried away by illusion. Some say that I have no illusion
about my ability. Sometimes false perceptions carry a person to a wrong direction.
Thus one has to enlighten the mind with an awareness to understand the concept of purity.
Sometimes, one assumes that anything he feels appears to be truth to him/her. As a result
the judgments made on the assumption may not be quite truthful or completely correct.
But then there is no harm to assume ideas or opinions to be based on truth, because
such things are generated from desires, attachments and the natural expectations.
Normally one talks of ego quite often. Can anyone has seen the ego. It can be seen
only through the action of a person and it is not possible to visually see. For example,
in this Universe every thing changes as per God's wish. One sees always ups and downs,
high and low in the life which cannot be set aside or eliminated completely. Suppose if someone
is locked up in physical sensibility, then it becomes impossible for him/her to understand its existence.
Life always presents challenges to everyone. It is the responsibility or duty of that person to handle
it intelligently. Some may handle with strength of muscle power, money power, or through with
the help of vested interests. Some handle it very gently without hurting anyone through
humor and analyzing it properly having cognizance of the purity factor of the issue. However,
one has to have adequate wisdom to recognize the difference between awareness of
the physical and an awareness of the eternal needs . The best method to attain the
understanding, meditation is one of the methods normally practiced. If one practices real and
consistent meditation, it automatically leads him/her to come out of it or from the
locked status of physical, transitory, dualistic view of life. Once a person
decides that living in a high consciousness really matters him/her i.e. living
with good perspectives, feelings of spiritual insight, wisdom and an awareness
then he becomes really commited towards eternal thoughts. He/She can
have creative choices to keep the life moving into an ever deepening awareness
of the truth of God by following sathya, dharma, love and affection with peace
of mind as Baba says.

If envy, greed, hate or malice dim the glory, they are to be dismissed as passing clouds that cannot affect the sources of light. The more you reason out things, the clearer will become the reality. Reasoning power will never hinder the discovery of the Truth; only you have to go as far as reason can take you; then you can see the vast vistas beyond. Man has been endowed with enormous, immeasurable talents, skills and power; but is using all that to journey towards the moon, instead of journeying towards the wonderland of one’s own inner realms, where one can come face to face with God who is the inner Reality of this entire phenomenal world.

Generally reasoning is used as tool of measurement for cause and effect.
which is otherwise known as a tool of intellect. Sometimes, to enable a
person to have an assessment of things, reason becomes one of the tools
of human capacity so as to verify the facts and also establish the truth of it.
If need be established methods is altered by changing the existing procedure
with a justifying reason and practices. Though logic and reason may have
some interconnectivity it is discussed as a distinct feature, despite the
fact that logic is one important aspects of reason. Sometimes logic is seen
as the most pure or the defining form of reason. Similarly reason and
emotion are only a manifestation of brain exercise. Reason and imagination
mainly rely on similar mental exercises. Emotions are automatic consequences
of mind's past exercises. It is sometimes possible to evaluate the emotion
because they are generally based upon assumptions and beliefs. No doubt,
emotional reactions are not planned in advance but they are not inevitable
or unavoidable. Normally, man chooses his values and actions by thought
process. Reasoning leads to awareness and also based on existing universal system.
For e.g. One may say that the sun has risen every morning in the east only
until now and it will also rise in the east only tomorrow. Reasoning power will
never be able to set aside the existing truth.

The glory of Baba was, for years a fairytale for me. My wife was an ardent devotee and believed in His Divinity with her entire heart. But, she was not free to worship Him in my house, since I had no faith in Him. I did not allow her to keep His photograph or even the Vibhuti given by Him, in my house. Whenever I saw His picture or that of the Sai Baba of Shirdi, I used to tear it and throw the pieces out of the window.
During the month of May, 1960, I fell seriously ill and was bedridden for about 60 days. One day, my wife summoned enough courage to apply the Vibhuti given by Baba on my forehead and to put a pinch on my tongue! I resented her action and told her, "I cannot believe that your Baba is an incarnation of God or of any Saint. If He is really so, why does He not make me believe in Him?"
Years rolled on. My wife was sad, because she could not worship Baba in freedom, as she liked. She used to keep His Photograph in her jewel box and worship it whenever she could seize the chance. She knew that I was not interested in her personal belongings. Baba's picture was safe from me, there.
In May 1963, I fainted all of a sudden while in my office! I was removed to the hospital. My condition was declared bad and my wife was permitted to stay near my bed, for the night. Around midnight, my wife saw a vision of Sai Baba of Shirdi. He told her, "Your husband will not die. Don't weep in vain." He then became Sri Sathya Sai Baba and vanished. My wife woke up in astonishment and awakened me and related to me this incident. I brushed her story aside, saying, "This is but the reflex action of your own subconscious cravings and desires. I cannot believe that Baba personally came to this hospital to bless." A few minutes passed. It was around 1 o' clock. I saw a strange face, the head with a thick growth of hair like a lion, clad in a long red gown, standing before me, with the right palm raised in a blessing gesture. I heard Him say, "Your belief is not wrong; keep it up!"
The vision vanished suddenly. I fell fast asleep. In the morning hours, I started worrying who granted me that vision, and why He said that my belief was not wrong! I could not get the answer. When my wife awoke from sleep, I asked her to show me the photograph she was carrying in her purse. She replied that she had no picture with her. I assured her that I will not tear it to pieces. I only wanted to confirm whether the face I saw in the vision was that of Baba. Then, she produced the small photo of Baba in the blessing posture. My illness was beyond all the doctors of Bombay. I used to faint, suddenly, at all odd moments, in all sorts of odd places. One peculiar circumstance aroused my curiosity: Whenever I fainted, I recovered without any help from outside and I was saved miraculously. When I fainted in the busy Queen's Road, opposite Churchgate Station, there was a long traffic block at both ends and the road was free from vehicu lar traffic. When I fainted while entraining or detraining the Bombay Suburban Electrical Locals, I used to feel someone pushing me back into the coach, and I carried safely on.
In March 1965, my daughter was admitted into hospital for suspected Thrombophlebitis. It was the same hospital, where I had the Vision, and the same cabin. After pathological investigation and long deliberation, the doctors decided that she must be operated on, to examine one of the glands on her thigh. The day and the hour came; my wife opened the handbag and took a quantity of Vibhuti granted by Baba; she smeared it over her daughter's leg, with all the faith she had. The patient was removed to the theatre; the surgeons could not find anything wrong; the Chief Surgeon was immediately consulted; on his revised advice, the operation was cancelled and the patient was discharged.
I attended the Birthday Celebrations at Puttaparthi in 1966. I was blessed by Baba, during the interview. Since then I have had not a trace of fainting or giddiness. I can boldly assert, I am perfectly healthy. I am just one among the countless millions who have been blessed by Him and led on to the path of glory, by His omnipresent Grace. May His blessings be shared by all, for all time to come.

Repeating the Name of God saved Prahladha from the agony of torture. He learnt the Sacred Name and understood its sweetness. He chanted it constantly and internalized its nectarine taste. When the enraged elephant rushed towards him, he did not call out for his physical parents to rescue him; he instantaneously cried out "Narayana". The Lord is the source of strength for the weak and the strong; He is the Supreme Power. When Prahladha took the Name of the Lord, enraged elephants backed out, no fire could touch him and no poison could affect him. The Lord’s Name was his armour, his shield, his breath, infact his very life. For chanting the Divine Name, no expense is involved, no materials are needed, no special place or time is required. Scholarship, caste or creed does not matter. When a piece of iron is rubbed on a slab of stone, heat is generated. So too, in order to generate sufficient heat to melt the soft heart of the Lord, repeat the Divine Name vigorously and constantly. Then, the Lord will shower His Grace.

Namasmaranam is the best method to have divine blessings. Though Hindu prays different God,
divine nama is nothing different from the Bhagawan. Once a person starts chanting his Nama
sincerely & continuously, and if HIS holy names takes birth in one's mind, automatically the heart
gets filled with the divine presence of God. This is the easiest way to focus one's thoughts towards
God. Once a person starts chanting HIS name loudly without any interference, he/she will soon get to
realize the flood of love flowing into his/her hearts and the happiness or joy arising out of that.
This is mainly because, the sound of chanting the Divine Name awakens one's mind and in turn
makes it realize the God's love and continuous bliss. Further chanting of Divine name relieves
one from routine day to day problems and paves way to the heights of spiritual life. It is just
like a person who is getting light to see in the darkness when he/she has no vision. The chanting
divine name of God can also give an opportunity to have a viswa roopa darshan if done with
complete faith. Because, the divine name contains in itself everything. Therefore, one has to
sincerely practice repeating the holy name of the God incessantly without any disturbance.
In fact, if a person chants Bhagawan Nama incessantly without changing the place,
divine power is created in that place which can be easily noticed. Further, it facilitates
the people to correct the unbending mind to the divinity and power of God. Therefore, everyone,
should chant the bhagawan nama with devotion, confidence and concentration. Further, one
can see a change in the face and body of person who chants regularly, shining with an extra-
ordinary brightness. Further, when a person starts chanting bhagawan nama, his nature will
be changed into Satvic practices. When a person follows the repetition of the Divine Nama
regularly with the same enthusiasm, he/she will be able to see the whole universe filled with the
presence of God. He/She becomes united with God and sees God's vision/power everywhere.
As Baba says, chanting the divine name will destroy even mountains of sins and sorrows if one has
and would be able to get liberation from Karma, and difficulties.

Virtues can be defined in different forms. A person should possess good virtues and
must understand divine values and practice divine virtues as far as possible. Generally
a virtue is nothing but a moral habit that a person practices to maintain good values.
Because the values purely based on the moral standard possesses in life. Virtues
can also be a pre-determined process to achieve a desired value. But one has to be
humble, particularly in a society, so as to be thoughtful of others needs and willing
to do service to others if need be. One has to be perfect in one's own deeds. There
is no need to expect others like you to be perfect. But a person joins a satsang,
automatically one gets reformed. Normally one learns from the mistakes committed.
In the process, if a person does something to others, humility plays a vital role.
Similarly one should cultivate a habit of giving and sharing. The help that we
extend to others should not be in expectation of some thing from the other person.
If one can help someone and make way to attain happiness, he/she should
come forward to do that without any hesitation. Generosity is rather one of the
best ways to show love and friendship. Like that, forgiving is giving someone another
opportunity to correct themselves if they have done something wrong knowingly
or unknowingly. Everyone is bound to make mistakes. Instead of taking on revenge
on someone, one has to be make amends in his own habits. There is no harm in
forgiving oneself too. Sometimes making a mistake leads to unhappiness. Instead of
feeling hopeless after a mistake, one has to be firm in acting in a different way,
so as to have faith of a possibility of a change. Actually changes come flexibility.
One should not make others to consider his/her own ideas and feelings and
must not insist on his/her own way. Flexibility always gives a new openings
and possibility to get the things done. One has to get rid of bad habits and try to
learn good ones. Flexibility also paves the way to shift to a changing for a better
one. Above all, it depends on confidence. Confidence is nothing but having faith
in God or in someone who one trusts. When one has confidence in others or in
God, must rely on them completely without any wavering mind. Further caring is
nothing but extending love and attention towards someone which also matters.
If one is happened to care, they must help others without any condition. One
has to treat the people and things gently and respectfully.

In the Srimad Bhagavatam (1.2.11), Absolute Truth is explained as follows :

Vadanti tat tattva-vidas,
Tattvam yaj jnanam advayam,
Brahmeti Paramatmeti
Bhagavan iti sabdyate

Absolute truth is explained in three phases, such as Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan
which are identical. There is yet another explanation about the Sun God. It too has three
concepts such as Sunshine, Sun's Surface and Sun Planet. Normally for an ordinary man
one knows about sunshine or sunlight only, may be that one is in the primitive stage. Further
if that person starts understanding the surface of the Sun through the scientific study, one
calls him as advanced in research. If the same person thinks of landing on the Sun just like
person landing on the Moon, for him the Sun Planet is of high magnitude. To elucidate,
a common man is generally satisfied by knowing the sunshine and also about its occupation
over the entire universe without any bias to anyone including animals and plants, etc could
be compared to those who can realize only the Brahman feature of the Absolute Truth.
Normally on the eclipse day, everybody is eager to know its shape and try to find out its
disc shape, could be equated to the knowledge of knowing the Paramatma feature of the
Absolute Truth. Finally, a person who does research into the planet in depth to know its
complete features, etc. could be compared to those who realize the personal features of the
Supreme Absolute Truth. Hence, the devotees who takes interest and realizes the Bhagavan's
feature will have the Absolute Truth of his existence. The sunshine, the Sun disc and the inner
affairs of the Sun planet can never be separated from one another. Therefore, body and soul
remains together until the devotees understand the concept that the body is only a vehicle
to the soul.

When worship is rendered with a view to fulfill desires and realize wishes, the precious prize will be lost. Worship must cleanse the heart, so that God, the Indweller, may shine in all His glory. Know that desires tarnish the heart, instead of cleansing it. Invite a prince, who is yet a child to sit on the throne – he will start weeping, for he cannot play on the throne with his toys and pets. The adults would sneer at the boy’s fondness for toys, they would call it childishness. So too, all those, who keep away from the throne of ‘Sovereignty over themselves’ and prefer to play with the toys and pets of material things are equally childish, no matter what their age or status is!

Crossing the sea is to realise the Dweller, in the Dwelling. The purpose of the body (deha) is to realize the Indweller (Dehi). So even when the body is strong and skilled, the intellect is sharp and the mind alert, every effort must be made to seek the Indweller. So keep your body fit, strong and free from trouble. If we go through our ancient Scriptures and Vedas besides Ramayana and Mahabharatha, etc
all the religious books guide us to the path spiritual activity enlightening our mind towards the
omnipresent God, who lives every where. We have sufficient articles and historical evidences
to state that HE does not merely permeate everthing but HE also resides in our hearts as
Paramatma. We all know the story of Hiranyakashibu and Prahalada which comes to our mind
at the first instance. The Upanishads and Vedas also state the same thing in this regard.
These Quotes were noticed through a study of a booklet : Shvetashvataropanishad -
"Dva Suparna Sayuja Sakhaya Samannam Vriksham Parikhasvajatey"
Ramayana - Ur Prerak Raghuvansh Vibhushana. In that, it clearly states that HE is
residing in everyone, even in Rakshasas.

Now let us look at the Story of Hiranyakashibu. He told his son Prahlada, Whether
God dwell in the home of demons. In reply Prahlada answered him, stating Yes,
He does. Subsequently he asked him is HE present in this pillar pointing it out.
To day also, Prahalada submissively replied to him 'Yes' father. During this
argument, as soon as Bhagwan Narasingh appeared from the pillar, King Hiranyakashibu
had no answer or any query to ask his son Prahalada.

During one of the pravachanams, it was explained that God has given us an active
unfailable machine (normally) in the shape of mind, and that the intellect may not
go against its own judgements. Normally, the mind acts only according to the
intellect and the senses according to the mind. These two do not act in contra.
Generally, whenever or whatever the intellect opines, it draws a straight line to be
folllowed all the way down until its destination.

Coming to Kathopanishad,(I used to attend Chinmayanandaji lectures, those days,
when I was in Pune) wherein it is mentioned that Atmanagwam rathinam vidhi
shariragwam ratha meva cha .... In that it is explained that God has given a Rath
i.e. the body, which takes a passenger on it. A question is raised as to why the Rath
the body is given by God. In this context, there is explanation to state that the Rath
should travel on the right path i.e. spiritual path to attain the bliss of God. The passenger
who is seated is nothing but the soul. It is driven by the senses. The mind are the reins
that drives the rath and the intellect is the driver. While the other chariots are different
the Rath given to us by God is entirely different. It is because the intellect that dictates
and the other parts follow the instructions sincerely. Therefore, our body is vehicle to
take us to the ultimate destination as Baba Says. Our mind, heart and body must be pure
and must follow the spiritual path to attain the bliss of the God.

We have plenty of literatures and scriptures in our Hindu religion. One has to spend some
time daily to go through and understand the crux of the matter. That will enlighten one's mind
and heart. In fact the intellect will get reformed. To be more precise, more the time one spends
in going through the scriptures, the better, one will get tuned to God's bliss. The scriptures are
only a tool for everybody to kindle one's mind. Once a person surrenders to HIM, then one can
notice that HE starts dwelling in his/her mind. HE will be much closer to such people than before.
Normally, one may not be aware of everything in life, in fact about one's own life completely,
but HE knows everything of the devotee and also the likely happenings of every moment. Further
HE knows what one is planning to do next or what one is going to speak about HIM or others, etc.
Since on surrender to HIM, one becomes HIS child. HE would know every struggle, every question/
issue, every desire, every need that one has, whether one may know or not in advance. One may
raise an abrupt question that he/she is not able to see HIM. If someone spends more time in HIS
presence, the more he/she would start understanding his bliss. Then, he/she will immediately run
to HIM without any second thought. I suppose the more clearly one sees HIM with the eyes of
his/her heart, HE will be always with that person. For example, chanting of Gayathri by Dr Renuka
Madam is an example on that day at the time of her unexpected chaos.

Worship is nothing but the time that we spend humbling absolutely before HIM gives an opportunity
to enjoy HIS presence in the heart and mind and probably makes a way to be close to HIM.
Through the prayer and worship, one submits himself/herself with gratefulness to HIM for saving him/her
and that one needs HIM always.

If they are centred on riches, you will be worried about profit and loss, tax and exemptions. If they roam round fame, then, you are bound to suffer from the ups and downs of scandal, calumny and jealousy. So let them centre round the seat of power and love which deserve willing submission - the Name of the Lord. Let your whole being surrender to it. Then you will be happy forever. We quite often hear in Pravachanams that God exists where there is pure love (without any change) with
absolute dedication in HIM. Besides God also lives only with people who have absolute faith towards HIM and purity
of mind. That is why it is said that God is the embodiment of love. In fact love is the very essence of His being
present. To understand and recognise this truth, Sadhana is done by a devotee. But he/she has to live with
self-confidence for this exercise. Self-confidence will certainly prove to be a success. Self confidence is
absolutely essential for everyone. If somebody expect others to love him/her, he/she should first respect and
love them. Similarly one should respect others equally before expecting a reciprocal gesture. Similarly, if
we love God with dedication, HE also automatically will love us. Normally, when a child is born,
it takes different shapes like boy, man, father, and grand father. Though one attains different stages,
the person is same. One should realize this truth and respect everyone and extend love in spite of the fact of
different stages. Once a person recognizes this fact, he/she will understand the divinity power too. One
may think it is very difficult to equate God with the human being's growth. It is very simple. It is because
of HIS blessings and love, the child grows into a big man/woman, etc. If one is unable to recognize this
concept, then he/she has a faulty vision. One has to attempt in understanding the basic concept of
God's creation then easily one can attain the bliss i.e. HIS love. For all this, one has to distance the
factor of self and evil deeds and try to gather all the goodness. Further one has to ensure that no trace
of ill feeling, negative thoughts, etc exists in one's mind about the existence of God and his love towards him/her.
If that situation is attained, one need not to have fear about his bad Karmas, which will get eliminated.
Therefore, any work one does must do it with self confidence which automatically would ensure success.

Only yesterday I was asking the definition of Sadhunaam in another thread and I get my answer today from the Quote of the day for Oct 9th 2012.

So it is pretty obvious that God means everyone..and Sadhu is our true nature and God destroys only the
tarnished egoistic nature which obscures our true self.

So this definition will put the end to those who speculate that God will only save a selected few and destroy everyone else!

With the association of a Satsang, one can derive many benefits. One is able to interact
freely with the senior and knowledgeable members on various aspects pertaining to
spiritual activities. If any one one has any doubt on the method of spiritual practices
too, doubts can be clarified with ease. Secondly, one gets tremendous opportunity
to receive the divine vibrations and divine consciousness with the association of a Saint Guru.
A true satsang is a gathering of all types of students who come together mainly
to receive spiritual instruction from a qualified teacher. Traditionally, students putforth
questions about spiritual life to the teacher, who responds to them for the benefit of
all those present in the Class. Generally the questions that students putforth are based
on their thoughtful contemplation of spiritual topics and concerns only. In fact,
a Satsang gathering is for the elucidation of points pertaining to those interested
persons who desire to undertake spiritual activities. For example, some may focus on
issues of spiritual development, the workings of spiritual practices, aspects of spiritual life,
questions about spiritual texts, and other pertinent areas. Prior to all this, it starts
with a prayer and followed by meditation exercises, which facilitates to enhance
one's spiritual practice.

You have to become Divine, the Divinity from which you have arrived. So lessen your attachment to the world, not by cutting yourself off from the world, but by being in it, as an instrument in His hands. To realize the omnipotent Divine within you, recognize your kinship with the Universe. Keep your body fit, light and bright. Don’t add to it the burden of attachment to this and that. Subdue the heads of all the tendencies within you that lead you to egoism. Have single-minded attention to the dictates of God and practice right-conduct. Edison, the great scientist concentrated so much on the solution of the problems that worried him that at times, he left food untouched for days on end, when they were pushed through the doors of his lab. You must have that same concentration and earnestness, when engaged in spiritual practices.

When you engross yourself too much with the trifles of the world, your character and conduct will also become unpleasant. What are the opportunities I am bestowed with?” Then you will soon realize your own downfall and make efforts to recover. Will a tiger, however hungry eat popcorn or peanuts? A small party decided to stop in Puttaparthi, after having passed a holiday in an island of the Indian Ocean. In this company there was also a woman who did not share the choice of that spiritual excursion, but, pressed by collective needs, she reluctantly underwent the consequences. When they reached Puttaparthi, the breaking points and inconveniences of this locality sharpened the aversion of the lady, who in vain mourned the days upon the white beaches of the island. Not many days had gone by, when Sai Baba received the group. In the interview room the woman, who in spite of herself was involved in the event, sought refuge in a little corner, hoping to pass unobserved and waiting for it all to finish as quickly as possible. She watched without any interest the entrance of Swami, Who, having sat upon His armchair, asked the translator to refer to the woman that in her life there had been a precise period in which she had asked for Him.
The woman readily replied: "It cannot be. In my life I have never sought to meet with a person like him."
Swami made a second request to the translator and then a third: "Tell her that two years and three months ago, she had looked for Me intensely." The woman started to falter and tried to break off the guessing game, nervously reassuring the translator that it was mathematically impossible.
"Ask her – Swami continued – if she does not remember that night in which it was pouring down with rain… that bridge… that tree… that river…."
At this point, the woman started to frown, paled and then took on colour again; then once again she was startled by that memory. She admitted having passed a night in desperation and, in that sad difficult moment, cried out loud: "God! Where are You?" The woman now perceived Who might be He Who was describing a past which she herself had forgotten.
