As the God is present everywhere, one must do Namasmaran about the presence of God.
With the result, one would be able to realize the God's presence. God should be constantly
in one's mind. In order to achieve one has to cultivate a habit of thinking of God during
every activity. Secondly one has to make this a part of daily life activity. One has
to do this course regularly and not for a few days only and forgetting after that. One has
to follow it as far as possible every day. Even if one slips back into his/her old habits,
one should not forget in doing the above act of Namasmaran and Japam, etc. With this
one will become spiritually strong and healthy in the course of time.

The best means to stay in contact with the Higher Self at all times, is to follow the simple exercise of Namasmarana, the repetition of any one of the Names of the Lord; a Name that signifies the glory that lies embedded in every being. People indulge in all types of purposeless gossip, conversations and scandal. Many find time and interest in these degrading pursuits. But they have no inclination to awaken the Divine in them by constant remembrance of the Creator and His Splendour. See only those scenes that will foster this discipline; speak only of elevating and uplifting subjects; listen only to purifying topics; think and feel only pure thoughts and emotions. That is the way to develop the Divinity inherent in each one.

Every one know that God is not just a person or an individual, or sitting in a
place above the clouds in the sky, dispensing favors to all. The Vedas refer HIM
as Brahman, the Absolute, the Infinite. The truth is one. HE is the oldest, the
most ancient, HE was before Time, i.e. the Santana. One can take Bhagavad
Geeta as the Guide and everyone should read it daily. Each shloka has tremendous
power in it. One should have a book with explanation and drive home the true point of it.
Namasmaran of God if practiced daily with devotion and dedication, one can attain
enormous powers.

God has given a gift of life to us to understand and live in a constructive
way without having any illusion. One has to cultivate the right motivation
and emotion, if one wants to lead a prospective and useful life. The law of
Karma is a universal process, whereby causes lead to effects. This is something
that all of us are quite familiar with, whether or not we use the term Karma to
define it. One has to realize that wrong emotions are as a result of wrong thoughts.
Just by getting rid of wrong thoughts and notions, one can improvise the life.
If one is to enjoy good emotions or to get rid of bad ones, one has to constantly
fill the mind with spiritual truths that are available in our ancient Puranas and
Ithihasas. One has to study extensively all our ancient literatures that explain
our godly features and practice spiritual activities every day to attain purity of
thoughts and devotional attitude.

When we generally talk of God, some people would comment and offer
a view stating that God is an unknown and unseen one. But our rich Vedanta
establishes the fact of existence of God. In fact, it is the Guru who guides every
one to attain the bliss of God through spiritual practices. Therefore, one should
assume that Guru is the immediate Pratyaksha Divine Power through whom
one can reach the foot steps of the God. It is the Guru who facilitates and
reveals the path giving the facts and truth of the existence of God. It is not that
easy to receive the Guru Krupa. One has to work sincerely with complete dedication
to develop the knowledge only through Guru. Further one has to understand the
sanctity of the guru, the purity of the guru, the spirituality of the guru. If one has
complete dedicated devotion towards God,
he/she should develop similar qualities
towards the Guru too. Through Guru Bakthi, the sadhaka or the disciple gets an
effective sermons to understand the basic facts/truths and also the ocean of world life,
cycle of birth and death, etc. Once a
Shisya is dedicated, the Guru shares all the
information with the disciplie
what the guru has been endowed with. Further the Guru
bakthi should be egoless, humble or possess humility. We have the Upanishads which
illustrates about this factor and explains in depth about the true devotion and bakthi is.
It is the divine power and control of mind makes a disciple to understand the Guru and
act according to his/her instructions. This facilitates for the inflow of Guru Shisya relationship
to become a successful one. Above all, the disciple is able to benefit to a great
extent from the Guru.

Many worry themselves with questions on the multiplicity of Divinity. The same current activates the fan and gives air, illumines the bulb and gives light, heats the stove and cooks, moves the wheels around in a train. The instruments are different, but the inner energizer is the same. Some bulbs are 40 watts and some are 60, 100 or 1000 watts. Hence, though the current is one, the illumination varies. Name and form are not essential, focus on the inner truth. Take the case of your own body - the hand is a limb of the body, the hand has fingers, the fingers have nails and so on. Through every part of this and every other limb, flows the same life force. So too, in this universe, which is the body of God, every being is a part, sustained by the same divine essence. So honour everyone, revere the essential Divine.

Everyone knows that the power of divinity is present in everyone and is all-pervasive.
The rich Vedas clearly explains this concept and it is the fundamental truth. If one has
faith, belief and self-confidence can easily see the forms of God and
can certainly realise the presence and feelings of God. If a person feels the presence of the God
in the picture hung in his/her house daily, one would prosper in life. Through meditation,
one has to cultivate the principle of oneness. One may have different pictures at home
viz. Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Mahavishnu, Durga Devi, etc. While some prays in the form of
Lord Shiva, others pray in the form of Mahavishnu. Namas and picture forms may differ
and yet the God is one and the only Supreme Power that monitors all of us. Therefore,
God is not restricted to a specific name, shape or form, religion or region. For example,
in the South India, Anjaneyar is called as Hanuman while in the north it is called by a different
name. Goddess Durga is called by different names in different parts of the Country. Thus
one has to understand the concept of one Supreme Power and everyone is the embodiments
of HIM. HE pervades in all beings, whether it is animal, bird or fly, etc. as their life-breath.
It may not be possible for anyone to actually elucidate the concept of Divinity to a full
extent. There are different Mutts following different disciplines in India. Many Upasakas
are there following different forms of God but one has to understand there is only one
Supreme Power, despite the fact that devotees may describe Him in various ways
based on their faith and feelings. Hence divinity is one. There is no harm in worshiping
God by different Namas and shapes or forms, but the basic principle of God is one has to be
clearly understood. One has to develop a firm and unwavering faith and self-confidence
besides trust in the Supreme Power. Self-confidence and Trust would fetch the
self-satisfaction. In other words self-satisfaction would pave or derive the path of
Atma Samarpan which would take or lead a devotee to self-realisation. Thus self-confidence
is the fundamental factor one has to possess for attaining self-realisation. One should try to
cultivate a habit of positioning the presence of God in one's heart and then do all the
daily activities with the cherished feeling that God is the route cause for all our
daily activity and if one does regularly without any diminishing faith, he/should would
become a true devotee and would be able to easily attain the God's bliss.

We have been reading in many books that purification of mind needs sustained
endeavour to clear the mind from evil thoughts or evil deeds, etc. If that is allowed
to persist in the mind, not only it affects the consciousness of the person, it also
interferes with the thinking, attitudes and actions of a person. The very object
of an insight about the spiritual deeds, etc. is to free the mind from all the bad
deeds, bad acts, etc and to stay away from all evil acts, while cultivating good habits
in order to purify one's mind from all directions. If the meditation is practiced sincerely,
it releases all the stress and tensions that emerge in everyday's life. One has to be very
careful in not switching over to the old bad habits of reacting in an unbalanced way to pleasant
and unpleasant situations if one is able to achieve a higher level of purity of mind.
The assignment requires complete patience, care, and persistence. It is said that
wisdom does not arise through chance or random good thoughts or ntentions but
only through a purified mind. As Baba says one has to counter negative thoughts and
adopt positive thoughts. Namasmaran is the best method to get over from all this problem.

Egoism is the most dangerous illusion that has to be exploded and destroyed. Arjuna too suffered this ego. One day when Krishna brought the chariot back to camp, Arjuna wanted that like all charioteers, Krishna should get down first and open the door of the chariot for him. Krishna refused and insisted that Arjuna should alight before He does. At last Krishna won and Arjuna got down. As soon as Krishna left His seat and touched the ground, the chariot went up in flames! The fact was that the various fiery arrows that had the power of burning the chariot had actually hit the target, but due to the presence of Krishna, their igniferous powers could not manifest themselves. Realising this, humbled Arjuna; his egoism had a rude shock. He also realised that every action of Divinity was full of significance.

A person cannot be successful in life, unless he/she pursues a positive true goal
with all humility. One may think humility is a strange thing. But it is not so. It can
bring wonders in life. One may face many problems in life but some may be owing to
the factor of egoism. Therefore one should understand the real values before pursuing
any activity. One should approach the issue with morality and morality is absolutely
essential to attain any goal. Mere happiness should not be the only point. Normally,
a human being is motivated only by self-interest, perhaps due to psychological egoism.
But then psychological egoism is not a true method and it is totally a false
conceived notion. Generally people look into only self-interest and do not have a
broader vision and they move within their own vicious circle. If such people are not
able to achieve the desired result, then they get anger which results in ahankaram.
It slowly turns into attachment and drives the person to achieve that aim by false
methods, because it is purely associated with self-interest i.e. I, mine, etc. May
be due to ignorance or due to poor knowledge. If a person acts under the umbrella
of egoism, he/she automatically commits all evil deeds and wrong actions. It becomes
deep rooted and directs a person to do further wrong things. Sometimes, the factor
of anxiety to get a thing completed or achieved makes a person to commit a mistake
knowingly or unknowingly. The fundamental factor behind this is anxiety and troubles
which proceed from egoism. Above all, krotham or ahankaram destroys all the virtues of
peace of mind. Besides, many because of the influence of egoism automatically
get trapped under the influence of all evils deeds. However, a person who aspires to
search the path of devotion towards God and attainment of the bliss of the God, is easily
able to get away from egoism and can win over the situation by destroying the ego factor.
This is possible only through Atma Samarpan i.e. complete and absolute surrender to the God
by means of Namasmaran, worship, prayer, pooja, meditation, practice of spiritual activities,
association with Satsang, etc. One has to be steadfast in this act following righteousness.
While doing meditation, one has to watch the mind very carefullly with vigilant and
digilant in the initial stages. Mine discipline is very essential as it may direct the indriyas
in the wrong directions. One should not read wrong messages and speak wrong things
and for this one has to have an effective mind control. Better to avoid impure desires.
If one desires peace and joy in life, one has to make absolute surrender to the God and
do Namasmaran regularly with dedication and devotion, otherwise the Samsara will
envelop us and guide us in the unwanted directions.

All worldly pleasures are transient and temporary. Very often they result in sorrow and
disappointment. You often experience loss, depression and confusion and have no
contentment. Know that lack of contentment is the real loss (Asantrupto nijo nashtah).
There is no limit to desires. One feels hungry, another is thirsty. If the thirsty man is
offered water, he is not satisfied, he wants a cool drink. When he is given a cool drink,
next he wants ice cream, and so on. He is not satisfied with anything. Realize that
there is no end to desires for material things in the world. To get rid of these desires,
one must turn their mind towards God. The purpose of human birth is to realise the
inherent Divinity. That is the way to achieve contentment and lasting bliss.
God alone is the source of enduring bliss.

- Divine Discourse, Apr 16, 1988

It is seen in the Vedas, that when a mortal's desires are completely destroyed, he/she
becomes automatically immortal. Though it is no so easy but one has to make tireless
effort. Because if once a person trys and win over the situation, he/she would be able
to lead a fearless, free, and happy life. Secondly such people would not be troubled by
sorrows or worries or any problems. Our Puranas say that only staunch devotees of Jnana
would only be able to overcome desire in life. Further, until a person is able to fully realise
the concept of Self, his/her mind may not be able to attain that situation and cannot be
completely free from desire. The main problem with the human being is that once he/she
starts enjoying the happiness and comforts, suppose if it decreases or there is a change in the
situation, problem starts with that person, desires crop in there. A person is only walking in an area
of darkness generally. If he/she wants light to get the area illuminated, he/she has to use the torch
to get the light so that the route is clear and no stumbling block or any hindrance. As the battery
in the torch provides light to us, it is the God, HE who gives us the light to lead our path of Jnana.
God has given eyes, ears and good intellect and we must use all that to kill our unwanted desires
and think upon HIM and meditate on HIM, which would pave the way to destroy the unwanted desires
and likes and dislikes.

Dear Sir,

I have Sai Satcharita which I purchased in Puttaparthi 3 months ago.

It is in Sanskrit with English Translation.

Will try to look for Tamil Posts too.

As Baba says the very object of life is to realize the inherent divinity.
May be, as a result of poorvakarma some may not realize early in the life
and suffer or may remain ignorant of the divine power. Our Vedas clearly
mention that the concept of inherent divinity of human being is very simple
and that in every man and woman there is a holy and sacred centre. There
is a saying that all do not become mothers, i.e. just because a woman gives
birth to a baby she does not become a mother. In fact, a woman becomes
a mother only when she takes care and nurtures the baby in a perfect way.
Similarly, it is the spiritual reality out of which grows every manifestation and
expression of a true human life. No doubt, the effort has to be progressive
until a person attains perfection. God has given intelligence to everyone
and that must be used to the fullest extent with the life sublime. There is also
a saying that one should never forget the real nature of life, i.e. that everyone
is a wave in the Samudram of pure Divine Consciousness. It is only for the
person to make sincere and conscious efforts by upholding spiritual values.
It all depends on the path of methods, i.e. worship, prayer, pooja, dedicated
devotion towards God, may be psychic control or meditation and of knowledge.
If a person pursues any one of the above or combinations of any one, that will
certainly lead a person to the dedicated divine goal. However, the path requires
sincerity and has to be selfless. It has to be done in a spirit of divine duty without
any anticipation or expectation of any reward leaving the entire thing to the
Supreme Power's will. It has to be nishkama karma. In fact, the bhakti yoga
demands complete dedication and love towards God with the similar attachments
one normally has towards material benefits.

Sai Ram

When students score low marks parents feel great grief. Similarly, when we fall low in morals and spiritual virtues, our motherland bemoans her fate ten times more sadly. We have to assuage the grief of the physical mother and promote the peace and prosperity of our motherland. The motherland is not a mere lump of earth. When we desire her progress, we have to promote the progress of the people who dwell therein. The skills needed for resuscitating and reforming are found in youth. The reforming process involves the removal, in daily living, of bad conduct and bad habits, and the practice of good conduct and good deeds. The Raja of Chinjoli had been a great devotee of Sai Baba of Shirdi, who used to go and stay with Him. After the demise of the Raja and when Shirdi Baba was also no more, the Rani learned from two of her sisters living in Bangalore that there was in Puttaparthi a young Baba who called himself an incarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi. These sisters, Rajamma and Sitamma, visited Puttaparthi frequently.
The Rani told her sisters that she did not believe that the young Swami could be Shirdi Baba reborn, and they left the topic. Then Puttaparthi Baba came to her in one of her dreams and said: “Why don’t you come and visit Me? I am Shirdi Baba born again and living in Puttaparthi.”
According to what these people told, the Rani shortly afterwards contacted one of her sisters in Bangalore and asked her what that Puttaparthi Baba looked like. And as her sister was describing Him, she exclaimed: ‘Yes, that is the very same Man that was in my dream.’ Till then she had not met Puttaparthi Baba and she did not have much knowledge of Him.’
The three sisters went to Puttaparthi together. As soon as the old Rani appeared, Baba said: ‘You have come at last. But what has happened to the mug I was carrying all the time? What about My kamandala? Have you brought it with you?’ The Rani asked Him: ‘What kamandala? Tell me.’ Swami replied: ‘Have you not kept it at such and such place in the palace? I used it so often. Every time I sat for a meal, water was only kept in that kamandala. Don’t you remember?’
The Rani was then taken aback for a minute for she remembered this, but was not fully convinced. She probably thought that her sisters might have told Him something.
Next Baba asked her” ‘What are you doing with My tonga (a small horse-driven cart)?’ Only Shirdi Baba used to ride in a certain tonga that was kept at the palace for His disposal when He visited Chinjoli. The Rani said that after Shirdi Baba’s ‘passing on’ they were not using the tonga. ‘Instead of keeping it idle in Chinjoli, why don’t you bring it to Puttaparthi?’ Swami suggested to her, and she had the cart brought to Puttaparthi.

The first step to love all and serve all is to expand love in your own homes. You must revere and please your parents who gave you this chance to live and learn. If you ill-treat them or inflict grief on their minds, how can you ever gladden others by service and understanding? You know that when a balloon is blown, it bursts and the air inside it merges with the vast limitless expanse outside. Similarly your love must fill your home, then the society you live, and finally burst open to spread in the Universe. A drop of water held in the palm is soon evaporated; but drop it into the sea and it survives as a part of the sea. It assumes the name and the taste, the majesty and might of the sea! Cultivate Love; sow the seeds of love in all hearts, everywhere around you. That is My Wish, My Mission!

It is the nature that every human being clings on to something that
appears to contain some pleasure for him/her. It is quite natural
that everyone will have the desire or thirst to attain happiness in
life. But, however, there is a proverb service to humanity is service
to God. Therefore, one should join a Satsangh and serve the needy people
irrespective of caste or creed. By associating oneself with the Satsangh,
he/she can generate a certain amount of spiritual enthusiasm. Values of
life can be assessed only when one has a contact with others in society.
In the process, one may get an opportunity to learn to involve himself/
herself to do good to the society, or have a commitment in the righteous
way and avoid all unnecessary evil influences. Suppose if the mind is not
engaged in any object, it will be wandering in unwanted areas. Therefore,
everyone has to try to do some service to the Society and also enagage
themselves in spiritual activities to the extent possible. In fact, spirituality
is a part of every Hindu family in the normal life. Thus the ideal attitude
is to regard all good services as our routine activity. To be precise,
without the grace of the God, no task can be successfully or easily
accomplished in our life. Therefore, good thoughts make way for
positive vibrations. Everyone should do service to the needy with
heart full of love, treating it as a noble service and it will generate good
strength in the mind of the person.
