Though the God has created animals, insects, birds, human being, etc, only human
being alone is in a position to experience the Divine Power and enjoy the unending Peace,
happiness, beauty of flower and other objects, etc. This capacity is empowered to human
being by God because he/she is capable of acquiring the spiritual capacities to enable him
to experience of presence of God. To this effect, we had great Rishis, Saints etc who have
showed the light of path towards divine activity. The human being who is able to reach a
higher plane, are in a position to consciously experience the Divine Power. Like the Rishis,
Saints, who had taught us various things, one has to try to learn, practice and experience the
presence of the Divine Power with dedicated attention on HIM. It needs complete
confidence and faith besides a pure heart without any evil deeds, for example,
we can notice some people practice Japa, Meditation, etc and chant Mantras on
their Ishta Devata or Kula Devatha, viz. Durga, Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman etc in
their imaginable form in their daily life. While some people behave like animals not
knowing the value of human being. Such people would be able to realise only
the wisdom dawans on them. For example, when we take X-ray, we do not see
our structure as it is. We only see a skeleton of the X-rayed portion. In that case
our shape or our beauty etc disappears. Suppose if one is able to attain Divine Power,
they would be able to see the Divinity with their powerful Divine eyes. Therefore,
every work, every thought that we possess, every feeling that comes to our mind,
every activity that one undertakes should be of a good deed with the immense
feeling of God, one can certainly attain Divine blessings. For example, if one lights
a candle, one can see the visible flame. Similarly, if some one has a feeling of heat
inside the body, it is not visible except for a feeling, however it is an invisible fire.
One has to practice meditation and divine chanting continuously with a positive
attitude.

Dear Mr Srinivasan,

Thank you very much for your views. I only attend Pravachanams and read books and
nothing else. Besides, my friends are all knowledgeable people, who have knowledge in
various scriptures including Vedas. We read together Rudram, Chamakam, Balambika
Satsangh activities besides Sai Bhajans. There is a temple by the side of my house,
and we chant Vishnu Sahasranamam regularly. In fact I have given little place to the
temple to enable them to have a Praharam, so that the devotees can go round. My
compound wall is Temple's compound wall. My cousin brother, i.e. my Periamma's son
is constructing a Temple at Bangalore for Shirdi Sai Baba. He is a staunch devotee of
Baba like me. In fact he used to spend his life along with his wife in Puttaparuthi only
and he was a Joint Director in DRDO and now he stays in Bangalore. Your activity of
chanting Ram Ram and writing is a very great one. This is enough Sir. Thanking you
for sharing your personal views. Prof Venkataraman who is with Prasanthi Nilam was
in our Department only.

Every one of us has to work to earn our income and for that education is imperative.
Work or Employment is essential for a decent living. Everyone has potential to seek
a good employment, provided the educational background is sound and one is academically
intelligent. Work becomes our passion and become an integral part of our life. Similarly,
one has to inculcate a habit of spiritual life as part of our life for a peaceful living. If one
goes through the history, one will find that from childhood everyone is taught that
money is required to live and that is why one has to work. In that way, our education
conditions or trains us to seek an employment not only to look after the family or sometimes
if possible to contribute to society who are weaker economically. Some work for the
society to gain recognition for the accomplishments Nowadays education is tailored in
such a way that it is based on choosing a vocation or the nature of work one desires to
pursue after completing education and sometime to meet the human inadequacies or
may be owing to selfishness. Many struggle in life perhaps owing to their attitude or behavior
that makes them struggle in life. Suppose if that person makes an attempt to change his/her
attitude and orientation towards the spiritual path, he/she will get some sort of mental peace.
That spirit will help him/her to change his/her work environment and such people would be
able to gain success in making the work a part of spiritual life. Transforming work culture without
affecting its execution is very important. For some because of initiative, it brings an
internal change in the mind. Normally, these days work commitment usually takes up between 50% and 60% of
daily life. Those who choose to use their work situation towards spiritual path by sharing the
views with the colleagues will bring a change in the mind. The path is not for beginners in spiritual growth only
but for those who wish to take the spiritual pursuits.

Sensuous pleasures are momentary and leave a trail of pain behind. Yet most people, from the learned to the illiterate, seek only such fleeting and unreal pleasures (preyas). Hence, instead of seeking preyas, develop a desire for spiritual well-being (Shreyas). Surely there is a need for some concern about physical comforts. ‘Even the body is essential for the realisation of Dharma,’ says the scripture. The demands of the body have to be satisfied. Society has to be served. Family responsibilities have to be discharged. The body is the basis for all these. But this should not be the ultimate goal of life. Together with this, there should be the yearning for a higher Shreyas. All actions aimed at Spiritual bliss are related to Shreyas and it is when you yearn for Shreyas, that even preyas leads you to fulfilment.- Divine Discourse

Mental purity is essential to lead a spiritual activity. One should have a right thought process
together with the right mental conception of purity. False beliefs sometimes leads to mental
impurity. Normally superficial thinkers has a belief that their action will be pure. But it is not so.
Some may have objective thinking but it cannot always produce a right cause and may not have
any effect on the mind or body or the circumstances that enforces such attitude unless he/she
has a right thought process. As long as, one possesses impure thoughts within, that may lead
to only impure actions. This has to be understand clearly by everyone and those who are able
to realize it will have a great effect on them. Suppose, if one changes the thought process
and still he/she finds no change in the life, he/she may have to analyse whether it is outwardly
or from inner heart, i.e. from that viewpoint of consciousness. The wrong thoughts and hatreds,
or ill-will may come only from the minds which do not understand the purity of mind. Therefore,
one of the paths that one may choose is to be absolutely pure in all things and at all times,
i.e. to maintain purity in body, in mind, in thought, in feeling and desires.

We all know that Bhagavad Gita teaches only the sanctity of human life. In fact
it guides a person to have an appropriate ultimate goal. Further, it enables as to how
to make a livelihood in this Universe. It also enables a person in transcending the human
stature in a way that doesn't bind a person to have further human births. The Gita does
not tell us to stop our work. It only encourages a person to do his/her duty and perform
all the activities according to their status in life. Here comes the point. One while doing
the duty can also transform all his/her actions into sacred activities by offering the services
to the Supreme Power and also to the really genuine needy. Normally, outward look
only sees the illusory objects in the Universe. Only the inward vision can transform the
mind and can fill the heart with sacred feelings or activities. In order to gain the inner vision,
one has to do Meditation, Japa, etc. Suppose if a person's head is filled with all sorts of
impure matters already, it would not accept any pure or sacred activities immediately.
Therefore, without emptying or eliminating the bad things, good deeds cannot be put into.
Emotions and feelings normally play upon everyone. In some cases, fear is the manifestation
of weakness. One should not give room to that too. One has to try to unfold the mind
into spiritual activities and must being to think in the right direction. Particularly, as a
person grows, he/she begins to think, then compare others with himself/herself, financially
or economically, etc and starts to analyse things, classify, subsequently start judging
in a wrong or short direction as to how to acquire wealth and property or assets etc and
does not enforce their mind into spiritual activities. One should keep the mind free from
all these aspects and try to devote on the Supreme Power to gain spiritual knowledge
and at least do some service daily to the needy without any self motivation. If this is
done, God certainly will live with us.

Every body may have a question in their mind as to whether one's life is predestined
or predetermined or not. Some say yes and some say no. Some say both answers are
true. But if we go through karmic theory, everything is predetermined. Some get
disease at frequent intervals and they approach the doctor and the astrologer. Though
the doctor may give medicine, the astrologer may say that owing to certain Bhukthis,
one is suffering and may have to do some pariharams to get away from that temporarily
or the percentage of trouble can be reduced to some extent. It can be physical, material loss,
or mental. Generally, something constantly remains undetermined or unpredictable.
That something relates to one's unconsciousness about devotion to God, until the
problem arises. Here comes the point that the destiny
implies that there is some power
which determines the course of events beforehand. Destiny and fate or inter-related. If
a person believes in destiny has to believe the concept of fate too. One has no choice
to escape from the predetermined one. Differences always occur and opinions
may vary on this subject. All may not believe Karma or Praarabdham which generally
determines the present life of a person. Whatever karma accumulated during one's past lives
is being exercised during the present life. Praarabdham can also be termed as the results
of actions in the earlier births which have not been exhausted. Such things occur in the
future births. There is a story in Mahabharata. A boy dies because of snake bite and the
mother immediately wants to kill the snake saying that her son is innocent. However, only
after sometime she cames to know that the boy was destined to die and the snake was
pardoned and there are many stories like this.

Thoughts and Deeds form the future of a person. It all depends one's own
acts or deeds. Fortune is derived from the Latin Word Fortuna. Fortuna means Godess. One
needs firm will power, zeal to learn good deeds and study all scriptures besides good thoughts
to overcome difficulties in order to achieve the designated goals of attaining the bliss of
the Supreme Power. One's thinking creates one's consciousness and he/she has to
learn the methods to control it. It all depends according to what one draws it based
on his/her conscious and thoughts. If the thinking process is in the right direction,
i.e. dharmic or spiritual path, his/her life becomes more positive and reduces the
negative thoughts and one need not have to encounter negative feelings or actions. In
order to ensure success and happiness in life, one has to learn how to get protected
from outside influences of negative or materialistic thoughts or actions that may
hinder a person's development in life in the right path. One has to rise above this influence
by adopting spiritualistic deeds and doing charity as far as possible or adopt good deeds.

You should never forget to dedicate your actions to God.s and reap actions; sow actions and reap habits; sow habits and reap character; sow character and reap a fortune. Thus, fortune depends on character; character on habits; habits on actions; and actions on thought.

Unfortunately, many educated youth today are striving for wealth, physical strength and friendship. But all these have little value without the wealth of character. For men or women, character is the foundation. If you lack character, you become feeble in all other respects. Know that one’s strength lies in character and not in the wealth one earns. Materialistic wealth is not what we need today. Wealth can never confer true happiness. Hence, earn the wealth of virtues by developing good character. In 1947 a tall and strong, bearded sadhu from Badrinath came in search of Swami. He was very effulgent, due to vigorous penance he has undertaken in the Himalayas. He went to the Sathyabhama Temple located in front of the Mandir.
In those days the temple had small stonework around it. He sat on the stonework. Immediately a few villagers who did not like Swami's popularity joined him. The sadhu materialised vibhuti, fruits and sweets for the crowd, including me. He challenged, "Call your Swami here." Swami had told the devotees, even before the sadhu had reached Puttaparthi, not to allow him into the Mandir.
The next day I was going out and someone told the sadhu that I lived in Swami's room. I was a small boy then. The sadhu called me, "Child, come here." I went to him and he commanded, "Call your swami. I want to see Him." I went to Swami and told Him about the sadhu. Swami asked me, "Who asked you to go there?" Then he said, "It doesn't matter, go to your work."
When I went out the next day, the sadhu again called me and commanded, "Tell your Swami I want to see Him." I nodded my head, went in and told Swami about the sadhu repeating his challenge. The next day Swami told me to tell the sadhu to attend the bhajans. Swami was in the hall playing a wooden instrument. The sadhu came and sat near the Tulsi maadam. After sometime Swami told me to request the sadhu to sing a few bhajans. He sang melodious bhajans to Badrinath for about an hour; they were soul-stirring. After that Swami asked me to perform arathi. As soon as I finished, the sadhu started to shout, "I have seen my Badrinath!" Jumping up and down, he prostrated at Swami's Feet and took padanamaskaram. I was very close to him. He pulled me to himself and carried me on his shoulders and jumping and shouting, "I have seen my Bhagawan!"
Afterwards he went to the Sathyabhama Temple and sat there. He was ecstatic and blissful. He called me and repeated that he had seen his Badrinath and i should tell Swami that he was leaving the next day. I relayed this message to Swami, Who told me to ask the sadhu to stay another day. The next day Swami called him to the mandir and gave a feast.
In the evening, Swami asked me whether i had seen anything unusual when i cleaned the storeroom. i told Him that there was a box containing a rudrakshamala with big beads, a bunch of old palm leaves and a pair of wooden sandals. Swami asked me to bring the rudrakshamala. I brought it to Him. The sadhu was about ten feet away from Swami. Swami threw the mala to the sadhu and we saw the length of the mala actually increasing as it reached his navel.

The next morning, the sadhu disappeared without telling anybody.

One is not judged by his external appearance but based on his behavior, conduct,
character and his inborn nature of helping others, etc. It is all that the purity of heart
that matters. Some may be praying only from the lips and not from the inner heart.
In order to
avoid the lust for evil deeds and to acquire purity of heart, one should be
able to analyse the truth, i.e. it must be felt from the bottom of the heart. Sometimes

one may have to take tough decisions in life or face unexpected crisis situations
or mingle with challenging relationships. All these require good judgment and
able qualities of character. One must be able to
distinguish clearly between
general natural qualities and spiritual
virtues though the appearances
may appear to be identical.
False qualities are always superficial.
The possibility of becoming aware of one's personal merits
depends on his/her capacity to know one's limitations.

All that I seek from you is that you love your fellowmen, share their sufferings, and engage yourselves in serving them. Rich people and those in power have plentiful servants. But the distressed, the poverty-stricken, and those who suffer have no one to serve them. Go to such people and be their friends, their kith and kin, and their closest well-wishers. Let them welcome you as such. If you pour spirituality into the ears of those who are tortured by hunger, it will not be assimilated. First satiate the hunger. Give them God in the form of food and in the form of clothes. Give God in the form of peace to those who are afflicted with anxiety and in the form of medicine to those who are suffering from ill health. Give God in a form that will assuage fear, pain and sorrow. It is only when this is done that spirituality can soak into their hearts.

Compassion and Loving kindness are regarded as the best the quality of a human being. Possession of
such qualities exhibit the true answer when people are servicing the society. It also facilitates to
remove the tension or to bring a solution in the event of any social conflicts. One's mind should be
trained to have these rich qualities. If it is regularly practiced, it becomes an inseparable
companion to a person. Compassion is nothing but recognizing the suffering of others and
to help them to the extent possible to alleviate their sufferings. Normally, people have
compassion towards friends and relatives when someone go through a hard time.
In such events, people immediately identify their sufferings and try to help them
to have a positive outcome. Suppose if the same is developed with an open mind towards
all beings, it is possible to genuinely feel the needs of others. The very purpose of the Dharma
is to develop and integrate the practice of loving kindness and compassion towards everyone
irrespective of their beliefs, gender, race, religion, etc. As Baba says we should love everyone
and bring a spiritual feeling in them so that they are aware of the God's presence.

I am also a Sai Devotee, was attending Sai Samithi in Kodambakkam whenever i go to Chennai.
I have witnessed many manifestations of Vibhuthi etc during the Bhajan.
My Uncle was allowing Bajana Mandali at his home in Aziz nagar, Kodambakkam, where also many such manifestations of Vibhuthi , honey etc took place. For a few years i was convener to that Bhajana Mandali.
Now i am moving between, Chennai/Wales/US;
In US, i used to attend Sai Bhajan whenever possible.

Many of you are wasting a lot of time in meaningless pursuits. Time wasted is life wasted. Our ancients considered God as the embodiment of time and extolled Him thus: Kalaya Namah, Kala Kalaya Namah (Salutations to the Embodiment of Time, the One who conquered and transcends time). Do not forget the truth that time is verily God. You eagerly wait for a Sunday, thinking that you can relax and enjoy. In fact, you should feel sad that you are wasting time without doing any work on a Sunday. Utilise your time in a proper way. If you do not have any work, undertake social service. When your feelings are pure, and you utilize your time well to perform noble actions, your life will be sanctified and all work you do will be transformed into worship.

Everyone must allot sometime in a day to spend for the worship, prayer or meditation,
etc, despite one's busy schedule. It is impossible to attain the divine power unless
one has complete faith in HIM. One may have to set aside some time for this purpose
and should not worry about the time consumed for this purpose or one should not hesitate
about the time being spent towards pursuing such acts to achieve the divine purpose.
Once a person spends the time in divine acts with whole heart and faith, he/she
can discover the greatest gift in life. For all this, the master is mind and soul only.
One should not get imprisoned in modern cultural activities only to fulfill the day to day
needs. One has to be sincere, sit quiet and listen to spiritual songs or bhajans, music, etc
to attain the divine purpose or power. Unless one has a commitment and perseverance
with humility and motivated heart, he/she would be fooled only by fashionable modern
cultures which overtakes everything. Life is very simple and one has to deal it with the
pure heart to achieve divine truth and power. Each one of us has the ability but
the mind has to be framed towards that. One has to realise this factor, which is
very important and one has to fulfill this purpose. Once a person surrenders to HIM,
whatever decisions one makes whether it is small or big, decisions will certainly bring
fruitful results.
