One can get the grace through absolute faith and trust in the Supreme Power.
Similarly salvation too. If a person is able to attain the grace of the Supreme
Power, he/she automatically gains the salvation. Everyone has to understand
that there is a way to generate spiritual wisdom by chanting Rama Namam.
Even if one hears the Rama Namam in a Satsang with absolute dedication, the
soul and the heart get purified and yields good results in one's life; however
faith and stability of mind is absolutely essential. Persistent reading spiritual scriptures
and doing good things with faith would certainly pave a way for leading a spiritual life
if one is associated with a Satsang. A question may arise in one's mind as to whether
lasting happiness can be bought or unhappiness can be cured. Both are possible
if one has complete dedication with absolute attachment towards HIM through
the chanting of Rama Namam and wisdom would certainly prevail, as that shows
the practical knowledge as to how to attain the happiness. One may notice people
when problems arise, he/she gets frustrated and runs for substitutes immediately.

Rama is the embodiment of Dharma (Righteousness), which is the basis for the entire Universe. However deep and great our scholastic eminence or wealth may be, this birth is of no use without the transformation of the mind. Merely repeating Rama’s name is inadequate without realising the Rama Thathwa (Principle). A true human being is one who consistently practices the principle of dharma. Burning is thedharma of fire. Coolness is the dharma of ice. Fire is no fire without burning. Similarly the dharma of man lies in performing actions with the body, following the commands of the heart, deeply rooted in Divine Love. Every act performed with thought, word, and deed in harmony is an act ofdharma. From today, emulate Rama in your daily life and transform yourself by following the path of Love.

[h=1]This day, the birth of Sri Rama is celebrated in all lands. Rama had deed, word and thought, body, speech and mind, ever pure and totally free from blemish. Really speaking, one ought to revere the story of Rama as ...a profound allegory. Every act and actor in that story attracts attention and gets imprinted on the memory because the allegory is personal to each of us.

It is often said that Rama followed dharma at all times. This is not the correct way of describing him. He did not follow dharma, he was dharma. What he thought, spoke, and did was dharma and is dharma forever. - Sathya Sai Baba - Divine Discourse: 18 April 1986

The word Rama has the triple power of destroying sins, conferring peace, and dispelling ignorance. When you utter the word "Ram", you first open the mouth with the sound "Ra". All your sins go out when your mouth is open. When you utter "M" by closing the mouth, the entry is barred against the sins that have gone out. Everyone should recognize the sweetness, sacredness, and divinity enshrined in the name Rama. It is good to utter the name Rama with full understanding of all that it signifies. But even without that understanding the chanting of the name has the power to destroy all sins.

We must learn to chant the sweet name of Rama with a pure, unsullied heart, in a spirit of selfless devotion. Men should learn to speak sweetly and pleasingly. Sweet speech confers peace. It is the means to self-realization. Sri Rama loves to dwell in the heart of the man who speaks sweetly. Wholehearted chanting of the name of Rama even once can destroy mountains of sins. But the chanting should not be done mechanically, like a gramophone record. It should emanate from the depths of the heart.

You must seek to redeem your lives, by living up to Rama's ideals and proclaiming them to the world. Remember the name of Rama with love. God can be realized only through love and by no other means. -

Sathya Sai Baba - Divine Discourse: 14 April 1989

Swami was once asked by a Student in the portico of the Prasanthi Mandir that as to why Swami always gives and asks nothing in return, Swami's Wonderful Reply was small and simple " When your Heart is full of Love, then one can only give. Swami's Only Gives because Swami's Love is Pure and Swami only thinks about others, When your Heart is full of Love, you have everything, what more can you ask in this world."

Ravana sought wealth and gratification of desire by utterly violating the principle of Right Conduct (dharma). He was a scholar par excellence who had mastered the sixty four disciplines of learning; whereas Rama had mastered only thirty two. However Rama put them into practice and thereby digested what he learnt, whereas Ravana failed to digest them. The indigestion arose in the form of desire (kama), which ultimately destroyed him. While Rama was the Embodiment of Dharma, Ravana remained as the embodiment of kama. Thus, there arose a conflict between Righteousness and the unrighteousness. Rama transformed Himself into the embodiment of Sathya, following the principle of dharma. This eternal warfare between righteousness and unrighteousness, truth and untruth, exists in the minds of every person. It is your primary duty to follow and practice the twin principles of truth and righteousness and win the game of life.

Everyone of us should strictly observe the code of conduct what Shri Rama
taught us through his historical episode. Generally, it is said that one should
conduct himself/herself in justified way i.e. Nyayam which is otherwise mentioned
as the path of Dharma. One should understand the moral values of life and
conduct himself/herself in a right path in a given situation or circumstance.
One has to learn pious qualities of Lord Rama and as HE fulfilled the obligations,
everyone of us has some tasks or duties to performed in one's life. One has to
be very careful in every area of activity, so as to ensure that one is proceeding
in the right direction or path. To a certain extent, one has to be helpful to others
physically besides extending financial help if possible to the needy or also participate
in philonthropic activities such as charity, alms to the orphans, etc. The Supreme
Power always protects those who protect the Dharma.

Today, the typhoon of hatred and falsehood is scattering the clouds of Virtue, Justice and Truth to the far corners of the sky. So long as man is capable of prema (love), dharma (righteousness) will exist, do not doubt it. When you direct that prema to the Lord, your mental make-up will slowly and steadily undergo a revolutionary change. You will share in the sorrows and joys of your fellow-beings and experience bliss that is beyond the temporary gains and losses of this world. Your devotion to the Lord will undergo several changes. An important stage is one where service to the Lord alone matters and service alone is the reward - one does not seek anything more than just the opportunity of doing service Unto Him, to the best of one’s capacity.

Bhakthi and Devotion can bring lot of changes in a person's life,
rather it is the state of heart and mind that one possesses towards
the Supreme Power brings in everything. Sometimes, a person's mind
is influenced by selfish thoughts or deeds on seeing the worldly
pleasures and comforts, to which one should not yield, because
that diverts the attention. Devotional exercises have to form part of
a person and has to be a habit or a state of mind at all times to attain
the bliss of the Supreme Power. Devotional exercises can generally be
a prayer, bhajans, performing pooja, etc at home or in a Satsangh and
reading the Scriptures regularly with complete dedication and attention.
The Supreme Power dwells everywhere. As one loves the child or the
spouse, mother, etc, one can express the love to the Supreme Power too.
One can attend religious congregations viz. Radha Kalyanam, Panduranga
Bhajans, etc, where one can notice a spiritual atmosphere to divert one's
mind and heart so as to express the glory of the Supreme Power in a
chorus. Love towards the Supreme Power can make wonders in life.

“Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam” – A Special Timeline Cover for the Auspicious occasion of Aradhana Mahotsavam.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Loving Sairam!

Prasanthi Nilayam has prepared to witness “Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam”, a Celebration in commemoration of the ascent of the Avatar of the Age – Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba on 22nd, 23rd and 24th April 2013.

It was on the 24th April, 2011 that Bhagawan moved on from the physical plane of existence, to become the subtler omnipresence all-pervading reality. The festivity for three days will witnessed by thousands of devotees from all around the world and was marked with speeches and cultural programmes.

When God comes down in human form, like any human He too bows to time, as that is the Dharma of the body He dons. The difference, however, is that His withdrawal is part of a Master plan that none can comprehend. And yet, He does not gone anywhere, because He is always resides in the temple of our Hearts.

“Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam” is the divine event which will give us an opportunity to worship our Lord through the way that ultimately led to the Eternal Master dissolving back to Eternity.

Radiosai is pleased to announce the schedule of ‘Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam’ which will commence from tomorrow 22nd April 2013. The three day programme will conclude on 24th April 2013.

The best thing is God’s love is so infinite that He guides each and every person according to his/her needs to seek friendship with God alone.

Sai Inspires

Brindavan is not a specific place on the map; it’s the Universe! All human beings are cowherds; all animals are cows. Every heart is filled with the longing for the Lord; the flute is the call of the Lord; the sport Raasakreeda (the sportive dance of little Krishna and the Gopees), is the symbol of the yearning and the travail to merge in God. The Lord manifests such Grace that each one of you has the Lord all for yourself; you need not be sad that you won't have Him; nor need you be proud that you have Him and no one else can have Him! The Lord is installed in the altar of each and every one of your hearts. Revere the gift of this body, the senses, the intelligence, the Will and all the instruments of knowledge, action and feeling as essential for His work.

- Divine Discourse, Nov 23, 1968.

Firstly, one has to understand the karma one has to fulfill in life. If one has to
fulfill that, one has to have complete and absolute faith in understanding
that by relying upon the true reality from our ancestors. Once a person develops
faith he/she quickly develops the mind to find out the path to comply with it
because the mind has always two aspects i.e.true or false. The false mind
generates thoughts of evil deeds, , perceiving, distinguishing amongst evil ones,
pondering as to how to do it, etc. Because it is ignorant of true consciousness.
Further because of prevalence of false thoughts, it does not stay at one place
and starts wavering from thought after thought. Let us assume this body as
dharma. It can accommodate all forms of ideas and deeds. It only has to
analyse and differentiate between dharma and adharma. Those who want
to develop a belief in the Supreme Power one should understand the true reality
and approach in the right direction. For that one has to observe all acts of
dharma and reconstruct the mind and consciousness towards the true path.
Further one should be aware of all the things that one’s mind dwells on at
frequent intervals. As Baba says one has to rejuvenate the mind at periodical
intervals so as to have a check that it does not proceed in the wrong direction
of doing evil deeds or develop evil feelings.

The great Buddha was an evolved soul to start with. When His time came to choose between renouncing a chaotic world and seeking the truth, He didn't look around waiting for a signal or playing guesswork. Instead, conforming to the Rajasik will-do approach of a Kshatriya clan He was born in, He took the situation by its horns and plunged into the life of a monk forthwith.

He did meet some of the greatest teachers of Truth - i.e. the enlightened Rishis and Sages - of His time. They would teach Him what They knew. Normally, to learn everything a sage knows would take lifetimes. But Buddha was extremely evolved. He would learn everything quickly, and the Sage would bless Him and suggest another Guru who knew more than He did. Buddha went from Sage to Sage, and in an incredibly short while, simply revived the knowledge He had accumulated in His previous lifetimes. However, just like the great Adya Shankaracharya refuted all other ways to attain Absolute Realisation except the way of Knowledge (not intellectual and verbal, but that which was NIRGUNA and could not be trapped in words) - Buddha too created His own set of practices and perspectives to help people come out of the bondage of Maya.

Now, technically, did He start a Sect? No. Anybody who will study Buddhism whether academically or experientially, would find it amply clear that the concepts including the PanchaSheel which are prescribed by Buddha are practically taken from the Yama Niyamas of the Vaidik Canon. But what was different about Buddha was - His presentation. He made it simple to understand, and He gave it out in the common man's language. This similarity is what Swami Vivekananda ji meant when He says that Buddha's ideas were already there. A powerful proof of Buddha's ideas being in existence before Him comes from one of His own (supposed) utterances..."'I am not the first Buddha to come upon this earth;" He proclaimed, "nor shall I be the last!"

(One must note however that Buddhism prescribes a SANYASA-dominated lifestyle. So, He exhorts people to leave the Dharm, Artha and Kama stages and jump straight to the most advanced stage of Complete Renunciation. Becoming a Bhikkhu demands a very rigorous - almost superhuman - regime... After Buddha's Nirvana, unfortunately it became a fashion to become a Bhikkhu. People converted en masse without understanding the responsibilities it entailed, leading to its degeneration, abandonment and Vaidik refutation.)

Regarding the making of a New Sect per say, what Swami ji is referring to is the fact that Buddha's very act of prescribing a special lifestyle and method for the realisation of the Ultimate Reality and presenting it in a huge way far and wide - led to the creation of a separate community distinguishable from others - that is A New Sect... an 'ism' - Buddhism.

His followers recorded His teachings and solidified and codified its structure, introducing a different linguistic terminology to fit into what they considered His paradigm... If you read Adya Shankaracharya's refutation of the Bauddha Mata, you will find that He refutes the TERMINOLOGY, and not the content! Because in the end, words are not what they mean... they are simply an approximate representation of a perceived truth! Saints realise the same God... Absolute Reality... Ishwar... Parabrahman... Shunya... However, they express it in different ways... in different forms to suit the society of their times. It was this "Applied Spirituality" which Buddha presented - that's the Social Element Swami ji talks about in His above quote.

There's a well known sutra from our Upanishads... “Ekam Sat Vipraahaa Bahudha Vadanti”... In that sense, Buddha - Shakya Muni - was regarded as one of the foremost Saints - a VIPRA - of His times. In His context and content He is absolutely Vedantik, In the verbalisation of that context and content, however, the anti-Vaidik themes came up, as His followers - as is natural with all new Movements - took it upon themselves to place the sect as a Reformist Movement - announcing their differences with the Vaidik Siddhanta - vociferously, and reveling in their Darshan (approach towards realising the Ultimate Truth) being termed as a Naastik Darshan (one that does not accept the truthfulness of the Vedas).

How Vibhuti allowed Sunil Gavaskar to play in Australia.

Shammi Paranjape, a close relative of Sunil Gavaskar (sister-in-law), shares this amazing episode that happened miles away down under in Australia:

“One of the very first experiences Sunil Gavaskar had was during the Indian tour of Australia in 1977, when Bishen Singh Bedi was captain of the Indian cricket team.

During the three-day match against Victoria, Sunil slipped on the ground while fielding and tore a muscle in his thigh. It turned out to be a severe injury. In those days, the Indian team did not have a physiotherapist traveling with them, so Sunil’s injury was shown to the home team’s physiotherapist.

After he was examined, Sunil was informed that it was a severely torn muscle and he would be out of the game for the next six weeks. This was a big blow as the next Test match was starting within a week’s time.

Sunil was in excruciating pain and unable to stand or put any pressure on the right leg. He phoned Pammi (his wife) in India and informed her about this development. Pammi immediately told him, ‘Apply Baba’s Vibhuti’.

Sunil said that he had none with him. ‘I’ll send you some right away. Apply it in the affected area, I’m sure it will work’, she replied.

The prospect of Sunil being fit enough to play for the next Test, which was four days away, seemed a total impossibility, so he was not picked for that particular match in the Test squad. In the meanwhile, Sushil Doshi, one of the Hindi commentators of All India Radio happened to be leaving for Australia.

Pammi arranged to send Baba’s Vibhuti through him. Sushil Doshi arrived two days prior to the Test match in Brisbane and handed over the Vibhuti packet to Sunil. Sunil, who was still hobbling around with that painful leg immediately applied almost half of the Vibhuti packet on the affected area hoping for a miracle.”

For what happened next, let Sunil Gavaskar himself relate:

(From an article Sunil had written for the November 2000 issue of ‘Sanathana Sarathi’ – the Ashram Magazine)

“After I started applying Vibhuti, there was marked improvement and on the eve of the Test Match, I requested the team management not to rule me out but to have a fitness test on the morning of the Test Match. From barely being able to put weight on my leg, I was able to walk comfortably in just two days. But there was a stiff soreness that was worrying.
On the morning of the match, I applied Vibhuti to the leg and went to the ground. That was going to be my first attempt to try and run after a gap of eight days.

Even as I stepped on to the ground to give my fitness trial, I realised that the stiffness was almost gone. At the Queensland Cricket Ground in those days, you had to descend a few steps to the ground and it was these few steps which were painful previously, and I had to walk down gingerly. But on this day, I felt confident enough getting down these steps normally.

I took a light jog around the ground and with every stride I could feel the soreness going away. Though I did not do anything silly as a quick dash or sprint, I felt confident enough to play in the Test and so informed the management who accepted it and included me in the playing eleven. It was unbelievable.”

Incidentally, Sunil went on to score his eleventh Test century in that match!

Unfurl in your heart, the flag of infinite peace (Prashanthi). It should remind you to overcome the urge of low desires, anger and hate when your plans are thwarted; it must exhort you to expand your heart, to embrace all humanity and creation; let it direct you to quieten your impulses and calmly meditate on your own inner reality. Gradually, the lotus of your heart will bloom, from its centre the flame of divine vision of infinite peace will arise. Practise the disciplines of silence, cleanliness and forbearance. In silence, you can hear the voice of God. Through cleanliness you earn purity. By forbearance, you cultivate love. Feel that each moment is a step towards Him. Do everything as dedicated to Him, directed by Him, as work for His adoration, for serving His children.
