Swami has always stated in many of his speeches that his devotees must always remain in satsang. It is very important for us to remain in satsang or company of good people so that we can get positive vibrations that will in turn cause us to think positively and lean towards divine. On the other hand, mixing in a bad company can even cause good/spiritual people to get evil thoughts which can cause them to become demonic.

In Ramayana, Lord Rama and his brother Lakshman were walking in the forest in search for Sita. Lakshman, all of a sudden, felt frustrated and told his brother that he wanted to stop the search for Sita since a long time had elapsed and there was no hope. Rama smiled and knew why that was happening. After sometime Lakshman told his brother that he deeply regretted of what he said earlier. He felt positive again and wanted to continue looking for Sita. Rama smiled and told Lakshman that he felt frustrated since they were walking through an area where demons lived. So Lakshman got some negative vibrations which made him feel frustrated.

It can be concluded from the above story that even highly spiritual people like Lakshman can gain negative energies if they choose to be in a bad company. Hence, it is vital that we all remain in satsang. Going to bhajans, mandir, chanting God’s name, and by doing Narayana seva on regular bases will, no doubt, help us attract positive/divine energy and in uniting with God.

PURANDARADAS KRITI IN KAPI RAGA
KAVALAM SRIKUMAR SINGING BEFORE SWAMY IN WHITE FIELD.
This was a rare experience with Swamy during Vishu festival. Swamy listened to an instruement ensemble and after the programme came down and distributed prasada to each and every artist. Finally Swamy reached before Kavalam Srikumar, gave prasada and asked him to sing. This was the rarest of experience to be remembered for the whole life. Fortunately this was captured by the videographer.

Upanishads reading give inspiration. Upanishads envelop the very essence of the Vedas
Reading of Upanishads give us the spiritual experience besides various amount of information
particularly with regard to Sages and the Rishis. As it contains the valuable inputs of wisdom,
divine knowledge, they create an awareness in the hearts of everyone and inspire. Rishis
did Tapas, self-analysis/inquiry and meditation to attain Self-realization and to gain the
divine power. Vedas are classified as Rik, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana. Each Veda
has many Upanishads and subdivisions. It is said to be around 21, 109, 1000, and 50
subdivisions to Rik, Yajur, Sama, and Atharvana Vedas respectively. To be precise
there are around one thousand and hundred and eighty (1,180) Upanishads or so.
The goal of men, according to the Upanishads, is realisation of Brahman. Self-realization
only can eradicate the ignorance in a person besides eternal bliss and
everlasting peace. Similarly, knowledge of brahman can eliminate all troubles/sorrows.

Upanishads are also called as Vedanta. Hence, everyone has to spend some time daily
to go through the Upanishads to attain external bliss.

No one can understand my Mystery. The best you can do is to get immersed in it. It is no use your arguing about pros and cons; dive and know the depth; eat and know the taste.
You must dive deep into the sea to get the pearls. What good is it to dabble among the waves near the shore, and swear that the sea has no pearls in it and that all tales about them are false? So also if you must realise the full fruit of this Avathar, dive deep

In order to live peaceful and to have mental satisfaction, one has to pray daily.
Prayer is nothing but a communication which one does towards the Supreme Power.
Besides prayer enables one to express one's inner spiritual feelings. Prayer could be
of a long or short spell doing alone or join a group in a Satsang, could be
done silently or aloud in a chorus along with other devotees, but it should be
a true sincere communication with the Supreme Power and not just done for the
sake of recognition by others in the Satsang. The Supreme Power will certainly
answer to our prayers one day or the other. If a person does prayer regularly,
the attitude of the person too changes towards the Supreme Power and he/she
gains the divine power very easily. One may get many ideas or thoughts every day
while doing the prayer. Some get novel ideas in the dreams. But then the ideas and dreams
if they are good, one can adopt it but then one should try to keep away from evil thoughts.

The poet Kalidasa once said, “I would get liberation, as soon as I go”, implying, liberation is achieved as soon as the ego disappears. For then one would shine in his native splendour, as the indestructible Atma. The ‘I’ when crossed out becomes the symbol of the cross. So what is crucified is the ego. Once this happens, the Divine nature spontaneously manifests itself unhampered. The ego is most easily destroyed by devotion, by dwelling on the magnificence of the Lord. You can call Him by any name, for all names are His. Select the Name and Form that best appeals to you. That is why Sahasranamas (thousand names of the Lord) are composed for the various forms of God; you have the freedom and the right to select any one of the thousand.

One can find sacred Sahasranamams for various Gods and are commonly chanted
either at home or in Temples in Hinduism. By chanting one can attain auspiciousness
and also one can get relief from the bonds of samsara. Generally it is said and
mentioned that chanting of any sloka or stotra gives relief from all sorrows and
guides a person mental peace of mind and happiness. There is a saying that one who
desires to attain realization of the Supreme power, one has to chant the Namas
of either Lord Vishnu or Lord Shiva at least once daily with steadfast faith
and that it will guide a person to such a realization. Further one has to have
complete devotion while chanting any sloka or stotra, where the sound's vibration
plays the key role. The use of correct pronunciation enhances the satisfaction
whether it is done silently or louder. To obtain relief from evil effects in the house,
one can chant slokas or stotras regularly with dedication.

When you say that Lord Krishna was born in Gokul, grew up in Brindavan, ruled over Mathura and later Dwaraka, what does that signify? The mind is the Gokul where He was born. He is born to everyone, even today, whoever has taken to a spiritual path. The heart is the Brindavan where He grows. He grows in every heart, where Divine Love develops and expands. Your Intellect (Chitha) is where He begins His rule, and the Nirvikalpa stage (the state of absolute oneness) is the Dwaraka where He firmly establishes Himself as the reigning monarch. Make your thirst and devotion for the Lord grow through these stages, and you will be saving yourself.

happiness of divine power. Because of bhakthi, a devotee expresses
to the Supreme Power his devotion by means of worship, prayer, slokas,
stotras, etc. But at the same time, due to over enjoyment or eagerness,
one should not slip from the devotional practices besides greediness should
also not be there. If greediness prevails, the assigned task gets spoiled.
Further, if one is not able to achieve the goal, one should not get angry.
If anger persists, one's wisdom gets spoiled. Therefore one has to have
a control in the mind and also follow the right path of spiritual practices
in achieving the true bhakthi towards the Supreme Power, no matter
if one has to do some sacrifice for the sake of attaining divine power.

He grows in every heart, where Divine Love develops and expands. The Divinity we had as children has disappeared. As children, all of us were blissful, playful and happy. But with age, degrees, property, status, and profession, we became increasingly unhappy and miserable. Why? Just as in a well, there is the water of love hidden within us. But that water of love is covered by the sand of dignity, the stones of pride, and the gravel of ego, so we cannot see the water below. Somehow we have to draw that water out. Dig deeply and you will find the water is always present. So all the Divinity with which we are born is hidden under the stones, gravel, and pebbles of pride, ego, prejudices, and ideologies. We should attempt to dig down and uncover that bliss within us.

Just as you attend to the needs of the body regularly, feeding it three times a day to keep it in good running condition, so too spend some time regularly to keep your inner consciousness in good trim. Spend one hour in the morning, another at night and the third in the early hours of the dawn (the Brahma Muhurtha) for japam (contemplation) and meditation on the Lord. You will find great peace descending upon you and new sources of strength welling up within as you progress in this spiritual practice (Sadhana). After sometime, the mind will dwell on the Name, wherever you are and whatever you are engaged in. Peace and Joy will become your inseparable companions.

Bhakti is nothing but unlimited love towards the Supreme Power.
Bhakti is a sacred one having an emotion with true sentiments
which unites the devotees with the Supreme Power. Bhakti is
not a devotion with absolute desire only for material gains. Prayers
are sincerely offered from the bottom of one's heart. One may not
have apara bhakthi. Practices like worship, prayer, pooja, archana
etc are all the methods of expressing one's bhakthi towards the
Supreme Power. Normally, one offers the food cooked by him/her
to the Supreme Power mentally so as to get that purified. While
some pass through the garden think of Supreme Power and decorate
the Supreme Power mentally with all the flowers, which is also a kind
of Bhakti. Whatever is done, has to create an awakening. Some try
to keep the Puja room very clean and decorate it excellently. Some
light a lamp daily early morning and burn incense sticks. Some do it
after taking bath and wearing clean clothes untouched by others.
Immediately apply Vibhuti and Kumkum or Sandal on the forehead.
Regular worshipers wear Rudraksha or any mala like Tulasi, etc. Because,
these acts indirectly influences the mind. However, practice of right
conduct viz. Japam, Smaranam or chanting of Bhagavan's Nama Kirtanam
or prayer in the glory of the Supreme Power, offering fruits or food assuming
the presence of the Supreme Power, prostrate before the image of the
Supreme Power, so as to develop Bhakti and to attain divine power.

The mind must become bhakthimaya (saturated with devotion to God). The intelligence must be transformed into Jnana (divine knowledge). The body must be a willing and efficient instrument for the practice of righteousness. Such a life is indeed the crown and glory of humanity. The rest are merely contaminated, contained and caged lives! So sadhana(spiritual endeavours) alone makes life worth while; the rest are like froth which is fake and momentary. We live in California and by the grace of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, we have visited Him, twice, in India. The first time was at Puttaparthi, a little over a year ago. The next time was in Bombay, when we attended the "World Conference of Sathya Sai Organisations". It was at this Conference that we were shown (by another delegate from California, a photographer himself) an outstanding picture of Baba, where on the gown of Baba, the picture of a clock, a clock marking spiritual progress, had miraculously appeared, when the camera was clicked. HE was then standing facing such a clock but, who could have imagined that it would appear on the gown HE was wearing?
We very much wanted one like it, but, could not get one in India. We thought Lee Halpersm had taken the photograph and we decided to ask Lee if he could make a print for us. We saw him several times; each time we went to ask him we were interrupted and so, we gave up the idea of asking him.
Next to my bedroom, we have the library and on the wall we have an electric clock. About 2 months ago, one night, the clock started banging against the wall.
I got out of bed and stood looking at it. It kept up the noise. I thought the best thing to do was to disconnect it, but, it would require moving a heavy chinese chest. So, I went back to bed; that moment the noise ceased! I thought we could get the clock cared for in the morning. My husband had not heard the noise.
The next night, too, when I went to bed, the clock started banging against the wall! I went in and pulled the chest away from the connection. As I looked down between the chest and the connection, I saw a small object, like a luminous watch, with hands on it. It was the picture we wanted so much, Sri Sathya Sai Baba wearing the spiritual watch!
What a thrill it was for us to know that God came into our house to give us our heart's desire! And where else would He put it but under clock?
And, how wonderful, He drew our attention to His gift, by the banging of the metal clock on the wall !!!
