India Post will release a commemorative postage stamp in honour of Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi on his birth anniversary this year.

In a press release here on Monday, Union minister of state for communications and information technology Killi Kruparani said Satya Sai Baba was an inspiration to people of all faiths. “As a preacher of the highest human values, Satya Sai was an iconic figure for over five decades inspiring millions to lead a moral and meaningful life. His teachings were rooted in the universal ideals of truth, righteous conduct, peace, love and non-violence.’’


She said Satya Sai endeared himself to the people through various institutions which have their headquarters at Prashanti Nilayam in Andhra Pradesh and promoted moral values, education and public health.


Keeping in view his noble services to the humanity and particularly for the welfare of the people of Andhra Pradesh, the decision was taken to release a commemorative postage stamp on him, she said.

When you use the clutch, the change of gears is smooth !! Similarly in life, there are 4 gears: HAPPINESS, SORROW, HAPPINESS, SORROW. Just as in car, our lives too continue whether we are in happiness or in sorrow but the problem arises only when there is change or transition from happiness to sorrow and vice-versa. Thus for life too there is a clutch !! The clutch for life is the thought that, "Whatever happens is good for me !" This is what Krishna told Arjuna in the Kurukshetra battle field. Do you know what he said ?

The husk (Maya) has to be removed. The grain (Jeevathathwa) has to be boiled and made soft and assimilated so that it might add to health and strength. The softened rice can be compared to the Supreme Soul (Paramathma). The mind should be employed in this process. It has to be fixed in the Truth (Sathya) and the Ever-lasting (Nithya). To remove the husk, Discrimination (Viveka) is an effective instrument. Develop the power of discrimination and find out, which is beneficial, and which is not. Seek the light always – be full of confidence and zest. Never yield to despair, for it has never produced any results![/FONT]

[TD]Just knowing that we are watched over every minute, every moment, and with the ceaseless sound of the Aum booming deep within reminding us to “Have no fear, for I Am near,” takes from life anxiety and worry and leaves us to do His Work as His True Instrument.
During Sivaratri in 1966, Bhagawan bestowed many blessings upon this devotee. He not only found him employment in a wondrous way but also appeared before him during meditation. I had hardly closed my eyes. He came through the entrance door and stood, saying, “I have just been to Africa” and so saying He joyfully and with flowing hair sat on the rug. One knew in an instant that it was Baba; in a few moments, which seemed like an age, He was away.
Again on November 30, 1966, during the blissful depths of meditation this devotee found himself looking into the bright sunshine at Puttaparthi. Standing close and at first only showing His colourful robe, one knew that instant of Baba’s Presence. Then He moved His hand as if to take something from the fold of His robe. Bending low and with a happy and joyful smile He held in that precious Hand an envelope which He shook vigorously at my eye level. He knew that in a sitting position He would have to bend low for me to see what was happening. From His action it was deduced that the Bhagawan had taken care of some important thing and that the envelope which appeared to contain something bulky like a Rudraksha symbolised this Good Deed. With the deepening yearning to visit His Grace at Prasanthi Nilayam this instant transportation remedied the wish in a flash.
A few days after this miraculous event another devotee from Los Angeles arrived at Prasanthi Nilayam to be greeted, by Baba, with "California? Charles Penn." Upon leaving a week or so later Sai Baba handed the devotee a letter with the parting words "For Charles Penn, with My Love."
Sharing with you the contents of that letter is now a great pleasure. The letter dated December 9, 1966, read in part...
"I Am very happy that everyone (at Pacific Palisades, Calif.) is sincerely striving to achieve spiritual progress. I know how earnest you all are; that earnestness will certainly be rewarded.
"Know that I Am always with you, prompting you and guiding you. I know also that you are aware of this. Live always in that CONSTANT PRESENCE. Love and Truth are the two wings that take an individual forward. They will inspire you to serve all righteously and lovingly, just as you would serve the Lord. This is the highest form of Practical Spirituality.
"Be writing to Me, about yourself and friends. I have been getting letters from most of them. My blessings are ever with them.

When the great devotee Hanuman was getting ready to jump from the shores of India to Lanka in search of Mother Sita (who had been kidnapped by Ravana) was asked by the Vanara army (the army of monkeys, bears, squirrels) “Do you think that you will really be able to jump across the ocean?”
Hanuman’s reply was,
“It does not matter what my abilities and capabilities are. When the Lord Rama, the resident of my heart, has given me a task, He will definitely give me the strength I need to accomplish it. Have no doubt in that.”


Hanuman completed the task in a thumping fashion. And when he returned, Lord Rama went straight to him and hugged him to his bosom and told him,
“You are closest to my heart.”

The same is the case with the Swami’s students. Swami has showered so much love on some of them and some of them have reciprocated the same. That is why all the students are appreciated and held high around the world!

Even in selecting a Guru, use your discrimination. Not all clouds are rain bearing. A true Guru will be able to attract His seekers from afar, merely by His personality. He need not be talked about in glowing terms. His presence will be felt and aspirants will rush towards Him like bees towards a lotus in full bloom. Take up the path of spiritual practice, very enthusiastically. Half-hearted halting steps will not yield fruit. It is like cleaning a slushy area by slowly moving a stream of water. If the currents in the stream flow slowly, the slush cannot be cleared. The stream of water must flow full and fast, driving everything before it, so that the slush is cleared completely.

To know the Indweller (Kshetrajna) you have to acquire the Supreme Knowledge (Jnana). This transcends every other kind of knowledge which is related to the physical and the phenomenal. No one can understand the Divine Self (Atma) through worldly knowledge. You need a diamond to cut a diamond. To understand the Divine Soul (Atma), you have to acquire Knowledge of the Spirit (Atmajnana). All the knowledge gathered by the analysis of physical objects or through the senses is only a form of ignorance. It has three elements: What is known, what is to be known and who is the knower. These three are aspects of the mind. Only that is Jnana which is known when the mind is eliminated. Atma and Jnana are one, though called by different names. True Awareness is Jnana.

All that people do - seeing, hearing, experiencing and doing, are all mental delusions caused by association with the body. The mind cannot keep still even for a moment, without thinking about something or the other. Hence the mind is dependent on the body. All that the mind experiences, relates to the world that is made of the five elements. The mind sees the world through the eyes, hears through the ears. The mind has no form of its own; it is Maya (delusion). It is desire. It is Nature. It is ignorance (Avidya). Delusion is its very nature. In this respect, I would like to say,
“Mr. Brett Lee! Bhagawan Baba has got Laxman - not once but repeatedly. It is not surprising because miracles are visiting cards for Baba!”


Swami lovingly held Laxman’s hand and said, “I know that there are lot of worries in your mind. But don’t worry. They are just passing clouds.”

Baba has given us two simple methods of getting Moksha
(Liberation) in this age of Kaliyuga. He says that Namasmarana
(reciting the name of the Lord) and doing Seva (service) to the
fellow beings (Manava Seva is Madhava Seva) will get us the required
liberation, in this present life itself. Let us take advantage of
Swami's assurance, and act as per His Will and Commandments and
earn His Grace, to win our coveted goal, Moksha (Liberation) , which
is our sole purpose of being born as human beings.
