Dear and Respected Members,
Wanna have mind stimulation????
Follow the story and try to answer the question at the end
3 Friends, namely A, B, and C went to a restaurant to have their dinner.
Each one of them had something to eat such that the expense for each of them was Rs.15.
As such the total bill for the food was Rs.45.
A, B and C, shared the bill equally, costing Rs.15 for each.
They paid the bill across the cash counter, got aside and were about to leave.
The cashier had a thought - These guys are regular costumers and are good customers. Why not to give them some discount?
The cashier called the waiter, gave him Rs.5 and asked him to give this money back to these guys.
The waiter thought - How can I distribute Rs.5 equally among 3 guys-A, B and C? So, he converted the note of Rs.5 into 5 coins of Rupee.1 each.
The waiter went to the guys, and returned 1 Coin to A, 1 coin to B and 1 Coin to C.
The waiter kept 2 coins for himself as tips.
THE TRANSACTION INVOLVED TOTAL OF RS.45 ON ACCOUNT OF THESE GUYS HAVING DINNER IN THE RESTAURANT.
Now, how much was the money spent by each one of these guys??
They first contributed Rs.15 each. Now each one of them got Rupee 1 back. So, the total expense per head is now Rs.14.
If we add the total money spent by these guys, the amount would be Rs.42 (14 plus 14 plus 14)
Rs.2 is with the Waiter, who kept Rs.2 with himself as his tips.
So, the total now amounts to Rs.44 (42 Plus 2)
Now the question is -
Where is Rupee 1? Why the total calculation now amounts to Rs.44 only? How it's not getting tally with the total amount of Rs.45, involved in this transaction?
It's just a twisting question. When couple of we guys were asked with this question by one gentleman, we all got confused as what could be the answer. 3 of my friends even wanted to repeat the whole transaction again and again and all my energy was drained, explaining them the transaction.
The next day morning, I could answer the gentleman after thinking over it for a long time. When I could derive the answer I could realize how confused I was to ponder over the question this much and took a long time to come up with the answer. Honestly speaking, no other guys could answer correctly.
I just want to see, how soon and easily, the members here, can answer the above question? Just out of my curiosity.
