:scared:

Samashti upanayanam.

Today I attended for the first time in my life a samashti upanayanam.

Some 60 boys became brahmachaaris officially. :)

The youngest might have bee 5 years or 7 years old and the oldest on the wrong side of 20s.

Beards, whiskers and other forms of hair arts were seen
but no one had a sikhai (kudumi).

Some of the boys were taller than heir dads.

Some of the dads had problem sitting on the floor.

Some moms had problem standing behind their masters
and also while sitting on the floor!

When the father had to embrace the CHILD (?)
it was a challenge to some of the fathers.

It was good fun watching the proceedings.

The priests were shouting in the mike and
the others were shouting in the hall.

Indians can never remain silent unless you tie up their hands.
No need to tape their mouths, since they can't speak without
the liberal use of the hand gestures!

how many tasted the komiyam ?(panja kamiyam )
did carry rice, vellam & Dal to offer for the pavathi biksham dekhi ?
how many prostrated before the unknown elders?
how many mamis sung while taking arathi ?

When the hall is filled with 1000 persons all these are not possible nor practical.
If they were supposed to be in Komanam no one would have been no one in the hall.
Even the boys would have run away!:bolt:
Pancha gaavyam is off the list too. :nono:
The organizers have given rice and bowls for the Bhavathi Bikshaam Dehi.
Elderly ladies in the close family did it.
Individual aarathi was taken.
No one sang aarathi song or I could not hear it in the prevailing buzz!

Samasthi Upanayanam is normally a great event. It is quite often arranged
in the Kanchi Mutt to facilitate the parents who are unable to celebrate the
Upanayanam or for some domestic reasons. I always take part, when it is
arranged at our place and contribute my mite like Veshti/Towel and Silver/Gold
Poonal which only costs around Rs.400/- or so. Thambras arranges in Chennai
for the benefits of its members. A good occasion to watch. Nice you had an
opportunity to do so.

I also got a chair to sit on. I really enjoyed watching the ceremony. :)

But you have not concluded that the function went well and ended well! All is well that ends well giving relief to the tension parties: Parents, the Mama boys, Shastrigals, a few guests and of course the sponsors!

Now I understand why Bala Anna likes all the gods and places
whose names start with the word Bala!!!

She is a very powerful Deity. In fact, my Kula Deivam is Shree Mathura Kaliamman
located at Siruvachur near Perambalur in Chennai-Trichy National Highway. If one keeps
Shri Bala in the house, the house will be prosperous generation after generation
without the request to HER. In fact, one photo should be kept inside the Kitchen
and one in the Pooja Room, which are available in the Peetam. The object of keeping
in the kitchen is that what one is preparing/cooking, is for HER and then only for us. This
prayer has to be in one's mind. To be precise, chocolate is offered as Neivedhyam to
HER and SHE is known as Chocolate Bala.

What do you think of this?
Nowadays it is real scary to render help even to disabled people.

My brother had a very bad experience once when he tried to help a blind man cross a busy road.
My brother said that the blind person was trying to cross a real busy road and was having a tough time doing so.

So my brother went up to him and held his hand and told him he would want to help him.
To my brother's surprise the blind man spat of my brother non stop and told my brother that "don't think that just becos I am blind I need your sympathy..I can survive without your help"

My brother said he was covered with the blind man's saliva.

Even once here I called up a disabled organization to speak to the person in charge cos I felt that I wanted their input on a topic I wanted to write in the newspaper.

You see as a doctor I see many disabled patients with Diabetes and Hypertension and almost all of them do NOT exercise cos of the physical limitations.

So I wanted this to be highlighted to the media to have campaigns and awareness activities to set up Gyms for the disabled too cos now all gyms are only for the able bodied.

Initially the person I spoke too was polite but when he found out that I was not disabled he started becoming rude to me and was sounding bitter and hateful towards a normal able bodied person.
He did not want to co operate with me on anything so I eventually dropped the idea about proposing a Gym for the disabled.

How right is the Hindi proverb

"nekhi karo!
juthe Khao!!'

"Do good !
Get kicked!!"

I find that MOST of the physically challenged people
HATE the normal healthy people. :hand:

It is as though their physical limitations had affected and
made their mental attitudes also disabled!! :tsk:

In USA they offer nice rich baadaams as prasadam.
It does not get old/ spoiled/ smelly and is ever fresh!

Strange that I DO NOT KNOW who this famous M. Anwar is
who features in so many posts including mine!

He came in as manwar of Father's day ( a father figure???)
called me and Dr. Renuka by new pet names,
tracked us for one full day and vanished into thin air!!!

He KNEW that the rats here have smelled another rat!

How can people use different user names
(and remember their pass words) at the same time???

Maintaining one name and identity is enough to confuse
everyone including the person himself/ herself!!!
