Trump publishes first weekly list of 'crimes committed by immigrants'

The Department of Homeland Security has released its first weekly list of “immigrants who have committed crimes in the US”. The report, entitled the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Declined Detainer Outcome Report, is not an exhaustive list, but merely “examples”, according to the Trump administration. The list, which includes people who have been charged but not convicted, came as Donald Trump was heavily criticised for introducing a ban on passengers from eight Middle Eastern and North African countries carrying electronics on flights to the US.

    Czech zoo saws off rhino horns to keep its animals safe

    A Czech zoo is taking no chances after the recent killing of a rhinoceros at a wildlife park near Paris by assailants who stole the animal's horn - the zoo has started to remove the horns from its 21 rhinos as a precaution. With rhino horns considered a cure in Asia for everything from cancer, colds and fevers to high blood pressure, hangovers, impotence and other ailments, poachers have decimated rhino populations in Africa and elsewhere. The attack at the Thoiry Zoo earlier this month was a warning sign for zookeepers around the globe that poaching could be spreading beyond the killing fields of Africa and Asia.

    29 suspected cartel members tunnel out of Mexico prison in El Chapo-style escape

    Dozens of prisoners escaped from a Mexican state prison using a 120ft underground tunnel that had taken months to build, say reports. An estimated 29 suspected drug cartel members used the tunnel to flee a prison in the northern Mexican border state of Tamaulipas on Thursday (23 March). The tunnel escape is reminiscent of the way Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman fled two maximum security prisons, the second time through a mile-long tunnel dug to the shower in his cell.

    Russia claims to have created a devastating hypersonic missile that travels five times faster than the speed of sound and could rip through navy warship defences because it's too fast to stop. The Kremlin's Zircon missile has been called "unstoppable", "unbeatable" and "undefendable" with a 4,600mph speed that only one defence system in the world can destroy - that system is owned by Russia. The missile employs revolutionary scramjet technology to reach its hypersonic speeds whereby propulsion is created by forcing air from the atmosphere into its combustor where it mixes with on-board fuel - rather than carry both fuel and oxidizer like traditional rockets.
