BE ALONE! BE HUNGRY! BE AWAKE!
The three mantras for any accomplishments are:
‘Be Alone’ and don’t become one in a crowd of many sheep! Have an individuality.
‘Be Hungry” for the sake of knowledge.
‘Be Awake’ and alert. Always be ready for the unexpected.
It is very important to have an individuality, a hunger for knowledge and an alert mind to progress in this materialistic world. The very same qualities are essential for progressing in the spiritual world also.
When a person is alone, his interaction with the external world can be stopped. He can calm down the thought waves of his mind and explore his inner consciousness.
If he is sincere in his efforts, he may be blessed with the ‘Atma Dharshan’ and become a ‘jeevan mukthan’.
Too much of anything is too good for nothing. An excessive intake of food makes a man lazy and taamasic in nature. Too little food may not allow him to concentrate and stay focused. The right amount of food keeps him in a Saatvic mood – the best mood for spiritual evolution.
Being a house holder, a man can’t leave his house to go to a remote area to do dhyaanam, dhaarana and tapas. But he can stay awake when the whole world sleeps on, and resume his spiritual saadanaa.
Abiding by these three rules, a man can easily rise above the level of the others around him and progress steadily in his chosen path.
