The topic of heated discussion was whether the Hindi serials
need to be dubbed and telecast in Tamil channels.

It would have been more sensible to argue
why the serials were telecast in the tv? :rolleyes:

Considering the eye-for-eye and tooth-for-tooth they advocate;

the curses they lay on everyone else in the serials,

the spread of hatred and ill will among family members. :frusty:
 
Am I stretching out the war between the Mind and the Matter(body) by trying to revive all my previous activities including Yoga, strolling, veenaa practice etc to name a few.

I felt so washed out yesterday. I thought I can relax by watching Thillaanaa MohanaambaaL but the movie was stretched out like all the mega maha serials for more than twice its actual duration - with the commercial breaks exceeding the actual movie.

I had neither time nor patience to sit through the ads and could hardly watch half the movie. Is there any option of watching the movies without any ads???
 
At times I think students have more brains than teachers!

I am happy that a group students aged just 15 did not agree with their teacher who gave them a topic for choral speaking.

Many years ago out here there was a brutal rape/sodomy and murder of a 6 year old girl who found dead in a bag after her uterus was perforated by a blunt object.

That case shook the whole nation cos till now no one knows who did that.

So the teacher wanted the students to talk about this case and told them to sound very convincing and to portray the pain and the suffering of the victim so that the judges for the choral speaking would be emotionally moved and they would surely win the contest!

I am happy that none of the students agreed with teacher..they told the teacher it would sound too sadistic to stir up this old unsolved case and focus on the suffering of the victim and make use of her suffering just to win a choral speaking.

So too bad for the teacher..she should have more sense... at least her students have more brains than her.

Dear Renu,
It all depends on the way we look at things.

The students looked at as a subject causing pain and stirring troublosome emotions kept at bay by the time factor.

The teacher saw it as a subject wich will win her batch a prize.
The subjectie and objective vision is pronounced in the case of children and their parents also.

The children look at their dream companion and soulmates in an objective way while the parents study those specimens in a subjective way. :suspicious:

That is the reason why parents and chilreden can't see eye to eye about the dream companions discovered by the children.
 
I fyou have DTH, say Tatasky, worth investing in a set top box with recording facility for desynchronizing viewing, skippimg ads , not watching any programme in one stretch (especially movies), plan recording of future programmes which you want to watch but can't. Will save 40 to 50% of viewing time without missing a bit.

It is nearly five years since I watched any programm on TV - though I am a passive listener since our flat is small and the rooms are not sound proof.

I was attracted by the movie full of classical dances and carnatic music.
Investment of any kind has to earned at my home - not demanded! :rolleyes:
 
I used to think that one should be in charge of one own's life but recently my whole perception changed.

I feel one should be in charge of one own's death!

Its heart wrecking to watch a life of another being decided by next of kin or spouse when the person is not able to give consent for anything due to his advanced illness.

Th greatest gift of life is being able to decide your death!

True.

The Class 4 students in a school were divided into four Houses and were asked to present one most beautiful creation of God. The teacher gave the input that it can be any flower, natural scene or animal etc., One house won the prize when they brought the photo of the week old new-born baby that was the sister of one of the members of that house.

The teacher of the class was pleasantly surprised.

May be they could not bear to see the suffering of their loved one.
May be death was better than the quality life of that person at that time.
I know cases where prolonged life means nothing but prolonged suffering for the bedridden person and those attending on that person.
The suferers themselves wish to be rid of their sufferings.
It is a very hard decison for others to make.
That is why the new concept that a person must leave in writing clear instructions as to how long he/ she wants to be kept on life supporting system - in case it becomes necessary at some point of his/her life.
Then the kin and kith need not feel bad about making this delicate decision - since they are just carrying out the wishes of their loved one!
 
Tenali Raman had offended his king one more time.

He was given death sentence with an option that he may select the mode of his death.

This clever rascal selected his favorite mode which both baffled and amused everyone including the king.

He wished " To die a natural death!"

Given the choice about the date and mode of dying - NO ONE would want to die.

The only boon everyone seeks from God after doing severe penance is Immortality or near immortalaity - with impossible conditions attached to the mode of death.

It is interesting to read how all these are overcome by filling the loopholes in those cleverly sought boons!

It is indeed a battle of wits betwen the Seeker and the Giver.

Dear VR ji,

Sometimes its strange that someone's sickness and suffering makes us realize that how much illusion we live in and we actually think we are surrounded by relatives.

Life is a lonely journey where we are sucked in the portal of illusion thinking we love and we are actually loved.

Its actually a crowded lonely life...its just that we are afraid to admit it.

Its teaching me a great lesson about detachment in life..may be this is how I was meant to learn about detachment.

The true relative we have in our life is finally our SELF and no one else ..we can choose to call this Self many names....it was so right when Adi Shankara said:

Na Taato Na Maataa Na Bandhur-Na Daataa
Na Putro Na Putrii Na Bhrtyo Na Bhartaa |
Na Jaayaa Na Vidyaa Na Vrttir-Mama-Iva

Dear Renu,
This is exactly what Thirumanthiram deals with elaborately.
The inevitable death, the close relatives who forget the dead person the moment they take a dip in a river or pond and
go about their daily business as usual.
The property earned by that person will be left behind along with the members of his family.
NOTHING except his good deeds and the gnaanam earned by him accompany him to the next birth/world.
Who knows I may do the reverse translation of this great work from Tamil to English sometime in future - God willing!

I pity the body builders for the effort and time they put in
to build body and make all these ugly bumps, bulges and pockets.
When the soul departs none one those muscles - built up with
so much care and concern - will go along with them.
They will be reduced to fistful of ash or be eaten by the worms and maggots. :(
Had they invested all their time and energy in self realisation how much better it would have been - since all their penance and progress can go along with them to the next birth/ world.
