Think or sink!

Oh Boy! Oh Boy!! Oh Boy!!!

Am I very happy today!

My little grand daughter has won first prize in the short story writing competition.

I
t must be hardly surprising considering that she could compose, set tune to and sing her own songs at the age of 2!

When she turned four
, she would keep the entire household half asleep and half awake with her relentless story telling sessions in which fairies, witches, wizards, princesses and Queen mothers featured to a great extent.

And she as well as her little brother have a stunning vocabulary for the tenders ages of <7 years and <4 years respectively!

Another J.K. Rowling in the making??? :decision:

It is really good that some eye hospitals do the 'after-sale-service' the form of free checkups at regular intervals.

It is not just the money saved but also their subtle way of drawing our attention to the fact that surgery is not the end of one's eye care.

And many shops and clinics give 10% discount for all the Teachers in September. They do not ask for any proof since a teacher can be identified from quite far away!

Their disciplinary measures leave an indelible mark on their strong personality.
As I often say "Once a teacher... always a teacher!" :)

I disappointed a friend whom I was meeting for the first time

since instead of bursting in and making a powerful entry as he had imagined,

I waked in slowly - carrying my walking stick and with measured steps!

I apologized to him by saying that "I may write like I am 17 but I am nearing 70!"

My neighbor teased my when he saw me during my morning walk and said,
"You are supposed to walk very briskly!

I replied with a smile," I know I am supposed to walk briskly but
knowing a thing is not the same as being able to do it!"

Subbudu may tear apart a musician and make him/her wish that he/ she were never born. But does it mean he can sing better than him/her??? :rolleyes:

I cross my heart and solemnly swear to be THAT TRUE SOMEONE

who has no definition and who does not fit in any specific boundaries

OF rituals, ceremonies, celebrations, dress code, customs and food habits!

I understand that I need not master my language to make the prefix come true

nor stop wondering about really qualifying for the suffix come true!

chonnathum chollaathathum!

chonnathu...

"karuvil peN kuzhanthaiayi azhithu vidaatheergal!"

chollaathathu......

"avargal valarumvarai kaathirunthu karpazhitha pin kollalaam!" :frusty:

Four year old babies are raped and tossed in ditches (Use and Toss policy?) :shocked:

Fifteen year old girl raped and set fire to on her own roof top! ( making her journey to heaven a little shorter?)

014. Lovely brown

Brown is beautiful!

White men want their skin turn brown;
For hours they roast under the hot sun!

Wearing next to nothing for uniform tan;
Yet we dislike our natural color a brown!

Fairness creams are on the sale;
For not just female but also male!

Why this craze for what we is not ours?
Why do we crave for what is not ours?

Skins are made just the body to protect;
And help the change in temperature detect!

To keep away the crows, flies and fleas;
From filling with flesh & blood their bellies!

Think no more on the color of outer skin;
Just make sure that it is healthy and clean!

Half the problem in this world are born;
From the next door girl to Troy’s Helen;

Out of the color of the skin on the exterior!
None bothers about the mind in the interior!

Why do we find every child fascinating and charming?

The child DOES NOT KNOW that it is charming and that is precisely why!

The moment the child knows that it is charming - its charm will be completely lost.

It will assume and out on airs and that will be the end of the charm! :(

HUMILITY is very much the same as the charm of the baby.

It will be there AS LONG AS we do not know that we have humility.

Once we register that we have humility it will be gone for ever!

Why do you doubt?

All are excellent brahmins.

Take solace.

They could be worse.

Be less judgemental.

Accept all as they are .

People will behave as true brahmins as far as you are concerned.

Very few would belong to all the ten classes above.

There are no ideal people . All have a weakness or two

As long as it is one or two and good they do outweigh the weaknesses they have, we can give them pass marks if not distinction.

Acceptance of many with weakness is a blessing.

Hug the weak , they will draw strength from you.

Probably you are not the hugging type.lol

Oho ! you missed my point completely.

How is anyone supposed to give in writing that he/she would be a true TAMIL brahmin - when the qualities of a Tamil brahmin are so vague, so varied and so confusing?

People who have met me can tell you whether I am the hugging type or the bugging type :rolleyes:

I get my energy by hugging my naughty little darlings!

Their energy is like poorNam (Infinity) and will not dwindle however much we borrow from them.

Every festival /celebration/ ritual is becoming an ordeal now.

Is it because I am aging faster than how I should be?

Is it because no one is here to help us and to celebrate with us?

I guess Tamil New Year will be the next celebration.

Well it is almost one month away still!

P.S.

Indians (males???) want variety even in the special preparations.

If we make something with jaggery you must also make

similar ones without jaggery but with salt!

Why else do you think we have we have

neyyappams and uppappams or

chakkaraip pongal and veN pongal or

vellak kaaradai and salt kaaradai or

vellak kozhukkattai and uppuk kozhukkattai : wacko:

Sariyaana chaappaatu RamangaL! :rolleyes:

So long as they DO NOT wish to have in their harem(!)

one vellak kalar (brown) wife and an uppuk color ( Fair) wife!

The video-graphers use a very powerful light. During a recent reception we could see fresh hot vapor coming out of every lamp used by them.

My friends were finding out the probable causes for this but I instantly knew what it was.

The moths at large were attracted by the powerful light and made a headlong dive on to them. They were got converted from solid state into vapor state very much similar to the phenomenon called Sublimation.

Poor Moths ! They were becoming booths - in no time, with no pain, leaving no residue behind!

I was under the impression that karadai nonbu is the ONLY festival compulsory for all the Tami Brahmins.

But to my surprise I met a lady who claimed that in their family the DO NOT celebrate this festival! :confused:

The heat of cool Coimbatore knocks me out of action for the major part of the day! :flame:

When I go to the the other neighboring states the heat in the air feels like a mild fever running all the time.

Today is the day for getting my eyes tested.

The dilatation will make he world appear so brilliant that I will hardly be able to read or write.

I am NOT sure whether I will be able to get anything posted today! :(

Even children resist being forced to anything.
When little Zuzu ( age : 2 and 1/2 years) won't look at us during the chat,
my son forced him to face us by holding his head.
But the little chap moved his eyes to a side and managed not look at us!
It is true! In USA, parents are made for the children to IGNORE!
If this is the case what is the chance of grand parents feeling close to them?

(In all probability 'Bye Bye forum till tomorrow!' :)

I wound not miss my regular eye check up for any reason.
All the more when they have called me on the phone for a free eye check up!
I have one chithi who partially blind and an aunt who has gone totally blind.
It was a sad moment when I visited her recently and got the shock of my life.
When three lamps in the sitting room were already switched ON,
she told her attendant to switch ON the lights 'since it was pitch dark!' :(
Glaucoma does not happen over night.
It is a prolonged abnormal condition - which when left unattended leads to blindness.
It bewildering how educated people bother more about their warts and tend to neglect their eyes! :(
