Think or sink!

Dear Sis,

You can coolly invite, living in the western hemisphere. ;)

But I have to be very careful while inviting for the next proposed get together! :becky:
My dear Raji,

Many of our honourable members live in the western hemisphere remember?
My invitation is genuine and any one interested may send me a private message to get invited for a get together here.
Your home has already become the Macca of the Tamil Brahmins Forum - the first place any member vists ( or rather has to visit and feels his visit is wasted unless he visits you first) !

Unlimited craze! Unlimited

Peanuts or pretzels??? :decision:

This is the famous question in the domestic fights in USA!

The mini pretzels may interest toddlers!

As for the peanuts…

does a teaspoonful of peanuts need to be sealed so zealously???

To open that packet we need more calories, than we will get by eating those nuts!!

Most people had brought/bought their own food and drinks!

I am not sure this is allowed now - due to fear of terror attacks!

The compliment offered was a classic case of
யானைப் பசிக்குச் சோளப் பொரி!!!

OLD IS GOLD!

I never had problem in making my sons sleep or take a nap when they were very young babies.

The large cloth hammock hung by a strong double spring would do the trick.

In the west they use the vibrator chair instead of the Indian spring!

But the age-old cloth hammock had other merits too.

It would embrace the child lightly making it feel safe and secure.

It would keep out the excess light and sound protecting the baby’s sleep!

Our ancestors KNEW the cheaper and easier substitutes

for the costly and complicated Western gadgets! :thumb:

The trainer!

Two dolphins in captivity were talking about their ‘trainer’

The first dolphin told the second,

“He learns fast. I have been here hardly for a week.

Now every time I jump up, he has learned to toss me huge fish!”

AND we think and believe that we train the animals!!!

Humming sounds!

Here the people leave any gadget which makes a mild humming sound
so that the baby sleeps undisturbed by the other sounds.

It is kind of selective listening. I have watched amazed my sons studying hard with the classical western music playing mildly in the background.

They assured me that it keeps out the other disturbing noises.

Indian men need NOTHING more than a newspaper to block-out
the existence of the entire external world! :hand:

It might be dhaarana, dhyaanam or even samaadhi stage
in the language of astaanga yoga!

Women need only the small screen of the idiot box to forget the world and let the milk boil over and the cabbage curry get charred! :bolt:

The fund raising program went off well.

The bracelets made by Tejas and me were sold at 2$ a piece.

Other children had made laminated book marks, popcicle stick book marks , clay pots and pot holders.

The exciting news that the vegan (meaning eggless) macaroon made by my son and D.I.L won the first prize in the Baking contest!:first:
They got a Target gift card for 20$!!!

They had made the lovely pink macaroons like the kunkuma chimizh with a small projection on the top portion. They had inverted the tastiest organic raspberries on those projections.

Small wonder they won in the competition over the other large/ layered/ colourfully decorated baked items - since everyone knows how difficult it is to bake with using eggs!

I can give the highly guarded secret of the alternative used in stead of the egg white! :gossip:

The preserving liquid used in the canned chick peas were boiled until they reduced to half teir

original volume. This is the vegan replacement for the non vegan egg white.

Try and tell me how your vegan baking turned out to be! :ear:

Music can be depressing too...the new song by Music director Pritam is hauntingly lovely but at the same time depressing ..its really gets at you....Arijit Singh's voice captures the depressive mood of the song and as usual song writer Amitabh Bhattarcharya's lyrics are lovely with mega dose of Urdu...which makes it so lovely and poetic.

Tera Bina Guzara Ae- Dil Hai Mushkil

The hero (Ranbir Kapoor) has a very appropriate expression in his face!

The hero (Ranbir Kapoor) has a very appropriate expression in his face!

He is a good actor..no doubt of that..but in real life too he is slightly depressive in nature..he writes a lot about how he grew up hearing his parents constant fighting etc.

His mother is also very interfering with his life and does not approve of any girlfriend hence girlfriends keep breaking up with him.

Wonder why some mums cant let their son's be happy.

Dear Renu,

Mom can be possessive about her children and her husband.

"Live and Let Live" is not the policy of such nitwits!

She must have perfect control on everything and everybody!

She forgets that everybody needs an elbow room and fresh breath of air!

Another thing with the celebrity parents is this...

No man find any boy suitable for his darling daughter! :hand:

No mother finds any girl suitable for her prince-charming-son!

Small wonder many the children of celerities get depressed in life -

more often than those of the poor people trying make the ends meet-

and try everything including drugs to make their life worth living(!!! ???)

Old is Gold!!!

Coconut water is dubbed as excellent sports drink for light exercise.

Coconut water is a natural drink that has everything your average sports drink has and more.
It has five times more potassium than Gatorade and helps you to get rid of the cramps.

It’s a healthy drink that replenishes the nutrients that your body has lost during a moderate workout.

The potassium in coconut water also might benefit other people who do not exercise.
What the westerners find out after intense research, our ancestors knew instinctively.

Now canned tender coconut water is the hot favourite here.

Believe me it tastes like nothing I have drunk ever before.

It is pure nectar and drinking a chilled can is sheer joy for the people here !!!

My youngest grandson is TaruN.

He is just 3 years and 2 months young!

He is still unable to pronounce the letter "R" and words with the letter "R".

So his name has been changed by himself from the difficult 'TaruN' to the easy 'Tanu'!

We encourage him to say words starting with R.

The other day his mom was teaching him some names.

He was supposed to say 'Raman' and 'Rupa' as the names of his parents.

He cleverly formed a portmanteau word from their names and said 'Roomba!'

He was right since both his parent are cleanliness experts and need the

smart Room cleaning Robot 'Roomba' to maintain their home that way! :)

True Love must Liberate and Suffocate the loved ones!

When will the possessive parents and spouses learn this???

Affection should not become an affliction and affect the loved one!

Kids are very clever! This is what I read recently. :ranger:

A kid will be sent to the balcony to eat his favorite popsicle and his dad asked him to watch and tell him loudly what

others in the neighbourhood were doing. The kid started,
'Jacksons are shifting their house because they are loading

a huge truck with their stuff''; 'Andrew is about to mow his lawn because he is taking out the lawn mower'; 'John will

water his garden because he is setting the sprinklers; 'Adam's
parents are having fun in their bedroom...' and the dad

thought, 'OMG! Did the idiots forget to put the curtains down?' when the kid continued, '.... because
he is ALSO eating

a popsicle in their balcony!!' ;)

Vegans

My little grand daughter feels one up for being a VEGAN!

She feels we vegetarians are one rung below her in the ladder of evolution!

At times she objects to our touching her
after touching the butter milk or milk container!

Is a new kind of Un-touchability in the offing??? :noidea:

Complex emotions!

The little kid loves its mother.

The kid loves its new little brother.

BUT the kid can’t stand the sight

of them being happy together!!!

Human emotions are very complicated!!! :dizzy:

By extrapolation we can see how the husband who loves both his wife and his sons is secretly jealous of those boys!

The wife who loves both her husband and her daughters is secretly jealous of her own girls!

It is a week long Fall Break in some schools.

This creates a problem in the household working parents.

Luckily camps are organised by the school itself to take care of the children and teach them new things and skills - while their parents are away a work.

Little VaruN and Kutty Juju are attending a similar camp now.
Yesterday Varun forgot to pack his favourite hat before he left the camp.

He was all tears and sobs for having misplaced his hat. Since he is very fair, the crying had made his face as red as a red chilly.

Nothing would console the poor darling. He kept repeating.
"I must have checked my bag before leaving the camp!"

He is just over 4 years and this intense feeling (of guilt?) and sorrow is not good for him! :(

I myself felt like crying on seeing him in the sad state. I really felt and understood what Maha Kavi Bharati must have meant when he sang
உன் கண்ணில் நீர் வழிந்தால்
என் நெஞ்சில் உதிரம் கொட்டுதடி! :(

The house is filled with various musical instruments as was seen when they were set out during the Dasara Puja.

One guitar, two mandolins, one electric mandolin, one Ukulele, one huge key board, a thumb piano and an electric tanpur.
People here are busy and have no time for practicing what they have learned spending many years and more dollars.

The only situation comparable to this that of a rich man who has a sumptuous feast laid out on his table, but is forced to go on fasting in stead of feasting - due to his health conditions! :(
