A wife, it has been rightly said,
Is the world’s most under paid!

And also a person most afraid;
As though caught in a police raid!

Why is the house wife cum house maid,
Cum nurse, cum everything here unsaid.

For her services she is unpaid?
Neither in kindness is she repaid!

Better to become a barmaid;
If not the rare, lucky mermaid!

All you get to wear is plaid!
And get in your house inlaid!

Dear Sis,

There are persons who blame 'evil eyes' if anyone falls sick in the family! You too??? :confused:
Yes Raji ! Me too!! I am secretly scared whether I am the one
who had cast the evil eye on her by admiring her untiring energy!

Often the sickness or discomfort is without any solid reason
thereby adding credibility to the effects of the evil eyes! :(

No...one does not need to be a Muslim.

Many Non Muslims too undergo circumcision for medical and hygiene reasons.

Here its no big deal...many Non Muslims too opt for it but in India I see its a big deal for a Non Muslim to have a circumcision.

Well in some places Female cirumcision is practiced - to controll sexual desire!

WE all have heard of trigger happy people. These are blade-happy people
going around mutilating the most private part of the women against their wish!

The practice is rooted in gender inequality, attempts to control women's sexuality, and ideas about purity, modesty and beauty. It is usually initiated and carried out by women, who see it as a source of honour, and who fear that failing to have their daughters and granddaughters cut will expose the girls to social exclusion.[SUP][a][/SUP] The health effects depend on the procedure; they can include recurrent infections, difficulty urinating and passing menstrual flow, chronic pain, the development of cysts, an inability to get pregnant, complications during childbirth, and fatal bleeding.[SUP][6][/SUP] There are no known health benefits.[SUP][10]

A smart phone brings the world into your two small hands!

You may find put everything about anything or anyone!

You can contact and talk to a person, video chat,

or use Google hangout and do umpteen other things.

Today is my Lucky and Happy day since

I got a new smart phone of my very own!

I must make myself smart enough to be

able to use it to its fullest potential! :)

Gor bless my son and D.I.L for this lovely Diwali gift! :amen:

The silent sufferer!

It is high time to think about,
What will be your life without...

The one at whom you shout,
And indulge in a verbal bout;

Would, if possible, also clout,
And make fun of her as stout;

Never ever care for her pout,
But snort with your own snout;

Let the seed of kindness sprout,
It is now the time to lookout;

Or be prepared for a knock-out,
Resulting in a total blackout ;

No point repenting throughout
After her life’s energy is put out.

The clear glass panels of the front and back door in my son's home now appear to be made of frosted glass. I wondered whether the original clear glass panels have been changed to the frosted ones.

But I was pleasantly shocked to learn that sticker are available which when pasted render the clear glass look like frosted glass.

It is really cool since it lets in the light and heat of the sun and also given you some privacy in your own home.

About ten days back, one sintex door panel of a wardrobe fell off the frame and hit the ground! The wardrobe could not be closed!

So, I kept the door half open and supported it by a correct sized vessel! I could not push the center panel back into the frame! :)

Since none of the carpenters came to help, despite repeated calls, I decided to fix it by myself. Self help is the best help, right?

With some light hammering, I could push the center panel into the frame. Then I fixed the screw that had fallen down from the

bottom of the door, along with a bit of m-seal. This was a challenge; I could do it by seeing the screw through a mirror kept on

the ground!! :thumb:

This morning, all the not-often-used-muscles pained;I got up very late. It was NOT due to evil eye but due to over work!! :ballchain:

dear Raji,
You are very versatile and have a good imagination in addition to that! :clap2:
Using a vessel to support the door and using a mirror to locate a hole at its bottom ... WOW!!!
I bet THESE will lead to evil eyes cast on your efficiency and versatility! :nod:

Out door activities.

People never sacrifice their out door activities however unfriendly the climate may become.

Women go jogging / walking / cycling / pushing perambulator with a baby in it / walking dogs...

Men run, jog, walk brisk, stand and peddle cycles specially made, lie down facing the sky and peddle on special cycles.

Kids go on skating board / roller skates / skating wheels or just bicycle.
Small wonder they are in excellent condition except for their
100s of allergies and other really serious major health problems!!!

Brown is beautiful!

White men want their skin turn brown;
For hours they roast under the hot sun!

Wearing next to nothing for uniform tan;
Yet we dislike our natural colour - a brown!

Fairness creams are on the sale;
For not just female but also male!

Why this craze for what we is not ours?
Why do we crave for what is not ours?

Skins are made just the body to protect;
And help the change in temperature detect!

To keep away the crows, flies and fleas;
From filling with flesh & blood their bellies!

Think no more on the colour of outer skin;
Just make sure that it is healthy and clean!

Half the problem in this world are born;
From the next door girl to Troy’s Helen;

Out of the colour of the skin on the exterior!
None bothers about the mind in the interior!

Autumn is the time all the trees grow very colourful first, then shed all their leaves rendering all the branches looking like twigs.

That means extra work for the people to gather all the dry leaves before the snow fall starts.

Raking the withered leaves from the pebbles bordering the lawn and from the lawn and packing in the large 3 feet tall brown paper bags is hard work.
My son and his family have gathered 25 such bags filled with dry leaves and those are ready to be given off this Monday .

No garden work for the next 6 months which also means no fresh, organic, home garden produce for the kitchen.

How sad I can't tell anyone, "Please bring 4 brinjals and 4 tomatoes from the garden for Saambaar and Rasam!" :(

Jalapeños

I love these colourful chubby chillies. Who would not? They are non-spicy and some are even sweetish! We used to get regular supply of these - in all the three colours - from the home garden.
I would chop them finely and pickle them in fresh lemon juice with table salt. They tasted for better than the regular pickles! How sad we have just finished the last lot from the home garden for this year! :(

Life is back to normal!

Not ten days since a man had died;
And left in his family a huge void!

The young wife yet to come out;
Of the Fate’s terrible knock out!

The young son is yet confused;
What his future holds assured?

Scolding the children is of no use!
Screaming like banshees let loose!

When their mother sit and chit-chat;
What can you tell these tiny brats?

Their visitors are no better, so it feels;
Cracking jokes and laughing in peals!

Strange are the ways of this world;
Not ten days since a man had died!

The world is back to normal business;
Is there no end to people’s lousiness?

P.S

This was written in 2011. The rich parents of the young wife have moved in to live with her. She has come out of the shock and goes about her normal business. The boy is growing up well and had completed his +12 and would have entered college this year.

Another "Sabaash! sariyaana potti!" :clap2:

After watching the currently prevailing dappankoothu, kommaang kuthu

and the obscene body movements by the half dressed females and males

with the 'kaili' worn above their 'patta-patti-jatti (!?) :rolleyes:

this dance competition was a treat to the eyes and ears!

The song set to the jathi of Padmini's dance is mind blowing!

Old is Gold have no doubts!!!
