We are born in brahmin caste but can we call as real brahmins?

Reference post #90 and 91:

I asked the resident sAtva gunamayi. He says he prefers to keep quite and watch the dalliance of the resident/AsthAna porn artists staging an impressive and elaborate soft-porn dance performance here in the forum. He is wondering at the range and hold that the rajo guna has over these artists, who are also learned people.

Cheers.

Rajo Guna is all raw action.

Without Rajo Guna..even blood won't circulate.

You need Rajo Guna even to wink our eye lid..for without action the world itself would be inert.

Rajo Guna is dynamic and pulsating...somehow it can even make a Sattvagunamayi actually sit through and watch the impressive state of art performance...That is the hold of Rajo Guna.

BTW the resident Sattvagunamayi needs to move on...move on to the state of equilibrium where there is no play of Gunas.

Sattva might be relatively purer but it still binds no doubt.

O' of what difference is it to a parrot if he is in a cage of gold or silver or steel?

He is bound and not free.

So he needs to break free to the state where Gunas bind him no more for too much of even Sattva eventually becomes Rajas.

Stay tune for the next episode of Kama Kreeda spiced with Tattva!

Can we accept existence of criminals who are into robbery and rape, stating without them there would not be any thrill, friction, conspiracy, horror, investigation and the life in the society would be boring?

Mr. Ravi,
Thank you for your thoughtful post, clearly you are passionate about the subject.

I think some of your points boil down to the fundamental question: "Why is there evil in this world?" That is an interesting discussion in itself that I would be happy to participate in.

Now let me ask you this: Would you prefer to live in a world where everybody is perfect? There is zero crime, zero hunger, zero abuse, zero want, zero poverty? Everybody has food, shelter, entertainment, loving spouse and family? Everybody does their fair share of work, everybody has the same amount of money in the bank (then what would even be the point of money)?

Is really such a utopia the best case scenario?

PS. Would you like it if the moderator forbade you to write in blue and you were forced to only use the black colour?

Dear Mr.Biswa,

Thank you for considering my previous post in right spirit and posing some questions to me instead of making ridiculous remarks like one that followed with an example of another spiced up historical war.

Kindly correlate my replies with that of the listing (1 & 2) above...

1) The very simple answer to your first question is - I am a mere human who have feelings and emotions and go down when pains & suffering hit other fellow humans as much as that would have an impact on myself.

I want myself to be happy at least without being suppressed, exploited, stranded on the streets, tortured and humiliated. And would want my near and dear ones to have the same if not luxury. This basic human desires of mine and my wish for the same to my near and dear ones is something that I would love all other fellow humans to have and live in peace and harmony.

Just because myself and my dear and near one's are spared from acute poverty, suppression, exploitations, begging on the streets, torture, humiliation etc..etc, I can't be happy if other fellow humans in my society are suffering from emotional and physical pains due to wrong doing and atrocities by self and the others. It disturbs me a lot and many times spoils my day.

We boast our self stating that we pray not only for our well being and that of our near and dear one's BUT for the well being of all the suffering souls of this world".

Is that the prayer - "Samastha Loka Sukhino Bhavatu" is in disguise?? Do you pray for the well being of all humans just to impress your GOD and deep with in as your true self wants such discriminated and spiced up world of humans with pains and sufferings?

I don't want to get into the thought process of evaluating if such a utopia (as how you have narrated) is the best case scenario. Because, I believe in Karma Theory and God's creation in his own terms with co-existence of good and evil. It's out of my control and even out of my comprehension.

All I am concerned and like to desire as a mere compassionate human is, humans across the Glob should work towards acquiring "more of Sattvik tendencies" and let oneself and others live in peace and harmony. Not to lose their mind and life and spoil that of others out of yearning, jealousy, false pride, sadism, betrayal, superiority/inferiority complex, competition to the extent of ruining self and others etc.etc. and live honestly in peace with what ever one could have and strive to achieve within one's scope and not out of doing fraud.

So, I would rather prefer peace and harmony around the world to that of a spiced up world. Where, the spice is realized more out of fraudulent and manipulative practices, acts of crime, acts of terrorism etc. and the resultant investigations and court proceedings.

2) If moderator forbid me from writing in blue and am forced to use only the black color, my Rajo guna may first react within myself (because other member also use dark blue
:p ). This will be in no time over ruled by my Tamas guna and soon will be over ruled by my Sattvik guna that would make me feel happy at the end that I am abiding by the forum rules and the instructions of the moderator whom I should respect any time.

Friends,

In Bhagavat Geetha Lord says "brAnhaNakshathriyaviSAM SUdrANAM cha paraM thapa, karmANi pravi .bhakthAni swabhAva
prabhavairguNAI: " This means we are divided as Brahman, Khathriya, Vaisya and Shudra as per our SWABHAAVA in GUNA THRAYA. A brahmin is categorised so as per his saathvik nature. Are we satvik. Think!.

That is the reason why I told that we are not real brahmins but born in brahmin castes only.

Regards and Namaskarams,

P.R.RADHAKRISHNAN

Dear Sir,

Anger is a normal human response.

Even children display this.

Try taking a toy away from a child and he might display short lived anger and then cry.

But if we distract him with another toy..he smiles right away.

So being 100% anger free is not possible under normal circumstance.

We are only able to either cool down fast or try to divert our mind.

Very few people are 100% anger free..(most of those I know who are anger free are in the psychiatric ward... they keep smiling and laughing all the while and do not get angry even when provoked. I am not kidding)

In fact in our Puranas we see uncontrollable bouts of anger of even sages/munis/brahmins too and they keep cursing everyone that rubs them the wrong way.

Even the famous Ratnakara who became Valmiki did not spare the hunter who killed one of the pair of mating Krauncha birds.

Valmiki himself had been a highway robber before and had injured people in the past but yet he chose to curse the hunter instead of guiding him to not kill mating birds.

Sages in our Puranas seldom displayed total Sattva behavior.

I can also think of a medical situation that can make people irritable and angry.

Long term vegan/vegetarian diet at times can lead to Vitamin B 12 deficiency and this can make a person very moody and irritable.

So as vegetarians we should make sure we at least take a Vit B12 supplement or take soya based food.

There are instances in the epics when Shiva got angry, Rama (against Vali) and Krishna (against Bhishma) (for that matter every avatar of Vishnu) got angry, Brahma got angry, the Rishis (Vishwamitra, Sukracharya et al) got angry, Subrahmanya got angry.

And many others who are worshipped as Gods got angry.

Dear Sir,

Chanakya might not have displayed acute anger but he planned and plotted too when things did not go too well for him with King Nanda.

Just like how Drona wanted revenge when insulted by Drupada.

So you see..for some people anger is acute and they might regret their actions later but some people do not display anger and work silently for revenge.

Sometimes when we vent out our emotions we actually get over it faster than a person who keeps things concealed.

I remember reading before that if we cry at the sight of suffering of others we might just feel sad for that moment and once that feeling is gone we wont do anything to alleviate the suffering of people but when we hold back our emotions we actually let the feeling assimilate in us and we might devise ways to help the less fortunate.

So same way with anger..those who lose their temper seldom plan major revenge.

Those who can keep their cool have even brought down Kings..eg Chanakya.

So concealed anger is slow poison...not worth all the trouble.
Bad for health in long run.

What did Drona finally achieve by taking revenge on Drupada?? Nothing isn't it?

So forgiving and forgetting is still much better any time.

The only person in our Puranas who displayed 100% Non Violence and No Anger was Lord Buddha.

Dear Renuka,

The sages had the power of always being calm. The anger that was seen to be exhibited by them I think should have been deliberate with a purpose. After all, only if one transcended emotions one can be called a brahmarishi.

Dear Sravna,

There is always a reason and excuse for anger but we can chose to think rationally before cursing anyone.

So to my opinion I feel many sages did not show self restrain.

You see sometimes if someone makes us angry we can chose to cool off and then try to discuss matters with them.

To be frank Sravna....ordinary people like most of us I am sure have never cursed anyone in our lifes cos we know cursing is bad.

So I still feel there is no excuse for sages to curse.

In fact when I teach my son about the stories in our Puranas he keeps asking we "why is everyone cursing each other and why can't they control their temper?"

By cursing they lose all the punya gained by harsh tapas. They have start all over again. And they know it.

I think the above is a lesson from old puranic Tamil movies; anybody can curse, and if the person cursing has been genuinely wronged, the curse will come into effect, but when and how, we ordinary people cannot foretell. The sages also could curse and I don't think they lost all their accumulated punya ("Thapassakthi" is the more common word) in the manner of a rechargeable battery!!
