According to a sociologist two things that have contributed to the emancipation of women in maharashtra are kaftan (nightie) and moped/scooter; both gave new levels of freedom both inside and outside the home. Study is close to 30 years old.

hi RR madam,

now many pattis wearing churidhar in sing chennai....many pattis wear nighties through day and night in chennai....

here paatti means grandmas.....

Very true Renu! I think of my mom too!

She would never wear a churidhar ever in her life but I do even after celebrating my 'maNi vizhA'!

Dear RR ji,

I am surprised the a Salwar Kameez is considered 'modern'.

Salwar Kameez is a traditional garment of Punjabis.

It is not modern in my opinion..it is equally traditional as a saree.

Dear RR ji,

On Saturday night I went to see Iron Man 3 with my son and husband.
So as we were walking towards the cineplex in the mall..my son was walking with my husband in front of me...I saw a few girls checking out my son.

They were looking at him and telling each other to look at him...they all had shy smiles on their faces.

I don't think they saw me behind my son cos it was crowded too.

So I was thinking "not bad...my son is 13 and making girls head's turn" and also I was thinking that these girls are quite cute too...may be aged 13 to 15.

After that since there was sometime still for the movie to start I told my son to come with me to a shop nearby cos I wanted to check out some stuff.

Then we were walking in front of those girls and I guess only then the girls realized I am his mother and I heard one girl comment "OMG the cute guy is walking with his mother to the shop..he must be a mummy's boy....mummy's boys are not good to marry"

Dear Renu,

Did you son hear that comment? :D

Dear T B S Sir,

Well I was just kidding. But at the same time, I will make sure the women in my household are securely hidden from tbs garu. :)

Why would 13-15 year old girls think about marriage? Most I know of only want relationship for what I call the "B.E." (Bachelor Effect, i.e. thrills and companionship as well as a feeling of togetherness during perceived tough times). They don't really understand the meaning of commitment and marriage in teens....

Actually, I have often just met girls in the mall or some stores while shopping with my mother and told them "hey, meet my mother". The look on their face, a mix of surprise and terror, is priceless..... :D

Why disappoint those 10 girls?

To give a chance to 10 other less unfortunate guys. After all, this dashing man knows he's always in people's hearts :D

Dear RR ji,

My son has been telling me that his girl classmates keep saying they want to have husbands who will give them diamonds, sports cars, overseas holidays, huge mansion etc and I used to wonder if he was just kidding or telling me the truth.

He also did mention to me that only child are considered mama's boy by his classmates!

So I guess he was telling me the truth.

Oh, they are immature girls, things a teenager says shouldn't really be taken seriously as a lot can change between the teens and the 20s. In the end, you never know who you fall in love with....

Dear Kunjuppu Sir,

I P L matches are going on and I don't get to see other programs live! Shall see the upload on web.

My son, a single child, has earned very good name in our family, school, college and in Boston! :thumb:

And between the 20s and 30s. You are 21, but don't you consider yourself mature?

I have a new name for you...DILJEET!

Conqueror of Hearts!

I think I have found a good anthem for the King of Hearts:

Bachnaa ae haseenon lo main aa gayaa
Hay, bachnaa ai haseenon lo main aa gayaa
Husn ka aashiq, husn ka dushman
Apni ada hai yaaron se judaa, hai ho!

Time for the pretty ladies to be careful, Diljeet is in the house!

Here are two profiles I got in my mail box (names edited!)

1.
Seeking alliance from unmarried, pure South Indian Brahmin females who are citizens of

United States or green card holders for a never married Malaysian boy.

The boy, born 4 August 1978 [Ayilyam] holds Bachelor's degree from University of Montana,

Missoula and Masters from Whitworth University in Seattle. His family are Palakkad Iyers-

Brahacharanam belonging to Yajur Vedam and Kashyapa Gothram Vigneswar has 2 older

brothers, eldest brother married with two children. His father passed away in 2005, and he

lives with his mother and second brother. Currently he is employed in a local private institution.

Having lived in the US for 7 years, he is familiar with the environment there also. His main,

serious interest is theory and practice of carnatic music and dance music and is particularly

keen on rare compositions. Other interests are gardening [he has "green hands"], reading etc.

He does not have a green card.

Turning to the girl, she ought to be similarly qualified and share his interests, and be a

responsible householder also.
2.
I am seeking an alliance for my daughter. Her details are as below:

DOB: 14/06/1980

Star: Thiruvathirai

Qualification: BSc Hons Biochemistry

Tamil matrimony ID: M------

Looking for someone preferably from Malaysia/ Spore/ Australia. However will consider from other locations as well.

A boy (!) nearing 35 and a girl (!) nearing 33, both settled in Malaysia have different goals! :thumb:

P.S: If this guy goes to the U S of A by the grace of a girl, can he expect her to be a 'responsible householder'??

And between the 20s and 30s. You are 21, but don't you consider yourself mature?

Try asking me again when I'm 30 about this? :)

Life is in flux....today I might consider myself mature; that might probably change 5 years down the line.
