5#6b. The trick by Maayaa (2)

Vishnu released his Sudarshan on Andakan who fought with him. Andakan stopped Vishnu’s Sudarshan with his own discus and laughed arrogantly – appreciating his own valor. The Devaas were troubled by his laughter while the asuraas became very happy on hearing it.

Vishnu struck Andakan with his mace and he got thrown far away. Now Mahishan struck Vishnu with his mace and Vishnu fell faint on his Garuda vaahanam. Garuda flew away carrying Vishnu to safety and the army of Devaas started running away in confusion.

Mahishan chased the Devaas running in confusion and tossed them around using his mighty horns. He uprooted mountains and threw them on the frightened Devaas. Vishnu came round by then and returned to the battle field. He shattered the mountains tossed by Mahishan.

Mahishan fainted for a moment but soon regained consciousness and charged at Vishnu with his mace. The roar made by Mahishan was drowned by the sound made by Vishnu’s conch. The Devaa found a new surge of courage while the asuraas were troubled by the enthusiasm of the Devaa.

10#10b. அரசன் சுரதன்

"விந்தையே இதைச் சிந்தித்து ஆராய்ந்தால்!
சிந்தையைத் தன் வசப்படுத்துகிறாள் தேவி!

தருகிறாள் துன்பங்களை மட்டுமே வாழ்வில்!
தருகிறாள் துக்கத்தின் வழியே மோஹத்தை!

படைக்கின்றாள் அனைத்தையும் பிரம்ம ரூபிணியாக;
காக்கின்றாள் அனைத்தையும் விஷ்ணு ரூபிணியாக;

அழிக்கின்றாள் அனைத்தையும் ருத்ர ரூபிணியாக;
அழிக்கின்றாள் அனைத்தையும் காளராத்திரியாக.

வழங்குகின்றாள் கர்மங்களை மஹா மாயையாக;
வழங்குகின்றாள் செல்வத்தை லக்ஷ்மி தேவியாக;

"நிலை பெறுகிறது பிரபஞ்சம் தேவியிடம்;
லயம் அடைகிறது பிரபஞ்சம் தேவியிடம்.

தாண்டுவான் மோஹத்தை ஒரு மனிதன்,
தண்ணருளை தேவி அவனுக்குத் தந்தால்!

தாண்ட முடியாது மோஹத்தை மற்றவரால்
தாண்டுவிக்க தேவி அருள் புரியாவிட்டால்!"

விளக்கினார் சுமேதமுனிவர் மன்னனுக்கு;
வியந்தான் மன்னன் தேவியை எண்ணி!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

10#10b. King Suratha (2)

The Sage spoke to King, “O King Suratha! Listen to the wonderful glories of Devi who can fulfil one's desires. She is the MahAMAyA, who is everything in this world. She is the Mother of BrahmA, VishNu and Mahesa.

She attracts the hearts of all the Jeevas. She steeps them in complete delusion. She is the Creator, Preserver and Destroyer of the Universe in the forms of the Trinity BrahmA, VishNu and Rudra.

This MahA MAyA fulfills the desires of all the Jeevas. and She is the KAlarAtri. She is KAli. She is Lakshmi Devi sitting on a lotus.
Know that this whole world is supported by Her and it will get dissolved in Her. She the Highest and the Best of alL gods.

O King! He alone come out of delusion on whom Devi showers her divine grace. Otherwise no one can escape from this eternal delusion afflicting all the jeevaas.”

#36b. அபிநந்தனன்

நாரதர் வந்தார் இந்திர லோகத்துக்கு;
நன்மைகள் புகன்றார் இந்திரனுக்கு.

“ஹேமாவதியின் மன்னன் அபிநந்தனன்
ஹோமம் செய்வதற்கு எண்ணியுள்ளான்.

இந்திரப் பதவியை, சுவர்க்க போகத்தைத்
தந்திரமாகப் பறித்துவிடும் அந்த யாகம்!

இந்த யாகத்தை அழிக்காவிட்டால் உன்
இந்திரப் பதவி கை மாறிவிடும் இந்திரா!”

இந்திரனை அழையாமல் இல்லை யாகம்;
இந்த முறையை விதித்தது சாஸ்திரம்.

“என்னைத் தவிர்த்து யாகம் செய்துவிட்டு
என் பதவியை, போகங்களையே பறிப்பதா?”

காலநேமியை தியானித்தான் இந்திரன்;
காலநேமி தோன்றினான் உக்ரரூபியாக!

“பூலோகத்தில் ஹேமாவதி பட்டினத்தில்
மாபெரும் யாகம் நடக்கப் போகின்றது!

அறிவற்ற அரசன் அபிநந்தனன் என்பவன்
அடைய நினைக்கிறான் இந்திரப் பதவியை.

அளவற்ற ரூபங்கள் எடுத்துச் செல்வாய்!
அழிப்பாய் அபிநந்தனையும், யாகத்தையும்!”

கட்டவிழ்த்து விட்ட காலநேமி சென்றான்;
அட்டகாசமாக யாகசாலையில் நுழைந்தான்!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாக சாலையினை!
துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகப் பொருட்களை!

துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகம் செய்பவரை!
துவம்சம் செய்தான் யாகம் காண்பவரை.

அத்துடன் நிறுத்தவில்லை காலநேமி;
மொத்தமாக அழித்தான் யாகங்களை.

பூலோகம் முழுவ தும் சுற்றி வந்தான்;
பூமியில் யாகம் நடக்க விடவில்லை!

துதித்தனர் முனிவர்கள் துதிக்கையனை;
மதித்து பதில் அளித்தார் ஓர் அசரீரியாக.

“வரேண்ய ராஜன் வீட்டில் பிறப்பேன்!
விரைவில் உங்கள் துயர் துடைப்பேன்!”

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#36b. Abhinandanan

Once NArada visited IndralOkam. He cautioned Indra about the yAgam proposed by Abhinandanan – the king of HemAvathy. If that yAgam got completed successfully, then Abhinandanan would usurp IndralOkam and become its new king. Indra would have to flee from there.

No yAgam could be performed without invoking Indra. But now this king proposed to do the yAgam without invoking Indra and grab his power and position too. Indra became very upset. He thought of KAlanEmi. KAlanEmi appeared in front of him in his ugra roopam.

Indra told him, “There is going to be a big yAgam in HemAvathi city, to be conducted by its king Abhinandanan. Go forth and destroy it completely”
KAlanEmi was happy to be given a freehand in destruction. He went to the yAga sAla and destroyed it. He destroyed all the articles gathered for the yAgam, the sages who conducted the yAgam and the people who were witnessing the yAgam.

There was total destruction, but he did not stop with that. He went around the earth and started destroying all the yAgams, everywhere!
The rushis got worried by this unruly behavior and gathered together to pray to VinAyaka to put an end to KAlanEmi.

VinAyaka answered to their prayers as an asareeri, “I will be born as the son of VareNya RAjan and put an end to all your sufferings.”

5#7a. ஆலோசனை

போர் புரியும் தேவர்களைக் கண்டான்;
சோர்வடைந்த அசுரர்களைக் கண்டான்.

பொறுக்கவில்லை மனம் மஹிஷனுக்கு;
உருவெடுத்தான் ஒரு வலிய சிங்கமாக!

பாய்ந்தான் களத்தில் சிலிர்த்துக் கொண்டு;
சாய்ந்தனர் தேவர் அவன் தாக்குதல்களில்.

கீறினான் விஷ்ணுவின் மார்பில் மஹிஷன்;
கீறினான் கருட வாஹனத்தை மஹிஷன்;

திரும்பினார் விஷ்ணு வைகுந்தம் உடனே.
திரும்பினான் பிரமன் சத்யலோகம் உடனே.

திரும்பினான் மஹிஷன் எருமை உருவுக்கு.
திரும்பவும் ஓடினர் தேவர்கள் புறமுதுகிட்டு.

ஓட்டினான் தேவர்களை ஆடு மாடு போல!
ஓட்டினான் ஐராவதத்தை அதன் மீதமர்ந்து!

கற்பகத் தரு, காமதேனு, உச்சைஸ்ரவஸ்,
மற்ற செல்வங்களும் கொள்ளை போயின.

காண முடியவில்லை இந்திரனனை எங்குமே;
“காணும் அனைத்தும் இனி நமதே!” என்றான்.

அமர்ந்தான் இந்திரனின் அரியணையில்;
அமர்த்தினான் அமைச்சர், சேனதிபதியை.

தானவர் உயர்வு பெற்று விண்ணுலகாள
வானவர் தாழ்வுற்று மண்ணுலகு ஏகினர்.

ஒளிந்தும், மறைந்தும் வாழ்ந்தனர் தேவர்.
தெளிவு பெற்றதும் சென்றனர் பிரமனிடம்.

5#7a. The war

Mahishan saw the enthusiastic Devaas and the tired Asuraas. He could not stand that sight. He assumed the form of a ferocious lion and pounced into the battle field. The Devaas were no match before him. He scratched Vishnu’s chest causing bleeding wounds. He scratched Garudan’s body creating more bloodshed.

Vishnu went back to Vaikuntam on his Garuda and Brahma rushed back to Satyalokam. Mahishan now assumed his origonal buffalo form and attacked the Deva in the battle field. They ran away from the war front. He chased them as if they were cattle.

He rode on the four tusked Airaavat – Indra’s elephant. All the treasure of Indra Karpaga vruksham, Kamadhenu, Uchchisravas were stolen by Mahishan. Indra was nowhere to be seen!

Mahishan said,” Whatever is here now belong to us!” He sat on Indra’s throne. He selected his team of ministers and generals. The Danavaas grew stronger and ruled the swarggam while the Devaas became weaker and had to hide on the earth.
When they could think clearly having come out of their shock, they went to Brahma Devan.

10#11b. மஹா காளி (2)


இரங்கினாள் நித்திரா தேவி பிரம்மனிடம்;
இறங்கினாள் விஷ்ணுவின் உடலை விட்டு.

சென்றாள் அசுரர்கள் மது, கைடபர்களிடம்;
வென்றாள் அசுரர் மனதை மோஹத்தால்!

எழுந்தார் விஷ்ணு யோக நித்திரையிலிருந்து;
எழுந்தது கடும் துவந்த யுத்தம் அசுரர்களுடன்.

கழிந்து விட்டது ஐயாயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் - ஆனால்
களைப்படையவில்லை அசுரர் சிறிதளவேனும்!

அபாயத்தை வெல்ல வேண்டும் தந்திரமாக என்று
உபாயத்தைச் சிந்தித்தார் மஹா விஷ்ணு மூர்த்தி.

புகழ்ந்தார் அசுரர்களின் வலிமையைப் பெருமையை;
மகிழ்ந்தனர் அசுரர் விஷ்ணுவின் புகழ் மொழிகளால்!

வரம் தர வேண்டினார் விஷ்ணு மது, கைடபர்களிடம்,
வரம் தந்து விட்டனர் மோஹ வயப்பட்டிருந்த அசுரர்!

"மடிய வேண்டும் நீங்கள் இருவரும் என்னால்!" எனக்
கொடிய அசுரர்கள் சிந்தித்தனர் ஒரு புதிய உபாயம்.

"நீரற்ற உலர்ந்த இடத்தில் கொல்வாய் எங்களை!"
நீரில் மூழ்கியிருந்தது உலகம் முழுதும் அப்போது!

விஸ்வரூபம் எடுத்தார் விஷ்ணு - அசுரரைத் தன்
விரிந்து பரந்த தொடை மீது வைத்துக் கொன்றார்!

மது, கைடபரைக் கொல்வதற்காகத் தோன்றினாள்
மஹாகாளியாகவும். யோகேஸ்வரியாகவும் தேவி."

10#11b. MahA KAli (2)

The Goddess of Sleep (NidrA Devi) took pity on BrahmA. She left the body of the sleeping Vishnu and appeared as a very beautiful Devi in front of the asurAs Madhu and Kaitaba. She deluded their minds bu her beauty and prepared the ground for VishNu's victory.

VishNu came put of his sleep and a dwandha yuddham started between him and the two ausrAs. The one-to-one fight went on for five thousand years. Since the AsurAs took fought and took rest alternately, they did not grow tired at all.

VishNu decided to win over them by playing a trick. He praised the valor and strength of Madhu and Kaitaba highly. Pleased with the words of praise, the already deluded AsurAs offered to grant VishNu a boon.

Vishnu used the opportunity to win over them. He said, "I want you both to wish to be killed by me" These AsurAs had a rare boon that they could not be killed - unless they themselves wished to be killed!

Now the AusrAs were caught in a trap and thought of an alternative plan to escape the death in VishNu's hands. They granted the boon with a condition that VishNu must kill them only on a dry land. The whole earth was submerged under water at that time!

VishnU took viswaroopam, placed the two AusurAs on his sprawling and dry thigh and killed them.

Devi appeared first as MahA KAli and YogEswari to Help VishNu kill the wicked AsurAs Madhu and Kaitaba."

#36c. தெய்வக் குழந்தை

அரசர்களின் குறை என்றுமே இதுதானோ?
வரேண்யன் ஏங்கினான் ஒரு மகவுக்காக!

வாரணமுகன் அருள் புரிந்தான் அவனுக்கு.
வாரிசு உருவானது அரசி புஷ்பகையிடம்.

குறித்த காலத்தில் பிறந்தது ஆண் மகவு.
மறைத்துவிட்டார் மாயையால் அவனை!

தானே மாறினார் ஒரு ஆண் குழந்தையாக!
தும்பிக்கை, தொந்தியுடன் ஒரு குழந்தையா?

அஞ்சினர் தோழியர் குழந்தையைக் கண்டு!
அஞ்சினர் அரசி, அரசனும், அமைச்சர்களும்!

எம்பெருமானே வந்து பிறந்திருந்த போதும்
துன்புற்று வருந்தியது அந்த நாடு முழுவதும்.

அரசலக்ஷணங்கள் இல்லாத குழந்தை
அரண்மனையில் வளருவது எதற்காக?

வீரர்கள் எடுத்துச் சென்றனர் குழந்தையை;
விட்டு விட்டனர் ஒரு தடாகத்தின் கரையில்.

நீராட வந்த பராசரர் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார்.
சீராட்டி வளர்த்தார் தெய்வக் குழந்தையை

நாளொரு மேனி பொழுதொரு வண்ணம்;
வளர்ந்து வந்தான் அந்த தெய்வக் குழந்தை

மூஷிகன் வந்தான் முனிவர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு
மூஷிகன் விளைவித்தான் பெரும் சேதம்.

பரசுவை ஏவினான் தெய்வக் குழந்தை,
“முரட்டு மூஷிகனைக் கட்டியிழுத்து வா!”

பரசு துரத்தியது மூஷிகனை விடாமல்!
பரசுவுக்கு அஞ்சி ஓடினான் மூஷிகன் .

பாதாளம் வரை குடைந்து சென்றும்
பயன் இல்லை, கட்டி விட்டது பரசு.

இழுத்துச் சென்றது முரட்டு மூஷிகனை.
விழுந்து வணங்கினான் அவன் அவரை.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#36c. The divine child

Was this the perpetual problem of all the kings? VareNya RAjan did not have any children! He craved for a child more than anything else in the world. Soon VinAyaka took pity on him and graced his queen Pushpagai with a child in her womb.

A male child was born in due time but VinAyaka hid the child by his MAyA. He transformed himself into a male child with a trunk and pot belly and took the place of the new born child.

The attendants of the queen got frightened to see a child with an elephant face and pot belly. The Queen, the King and all his ministers all got terrified to see this unusual child. The country was sad not knowing that Lord VinAyaka himself was the weird child.

What was the fun in having a freak child in the palace, when it it did not have any RAja lakshaNas? The soldiers took the child and left it on the bank of a pond in a forest.

Sage ParAsara came for his bath and saw the baby. He knew it was Lord VinAyaka himself and took the baby to his Ashram. He took good care of the child and the child grew up well.

Mooshikan reached the ashram of ParAara. He did a great damage there. The divine child ordered its parasu,”Go forth, bind the mooshikan and bring him to me!”

The parasu chased the mooshikan. He ran all over the place and dug hole right up to the PAtAla but it was of no use! The parasu captured him, bound him and dragged him to the divine child. Mooshikan fell at the feet of the divine child.

5#7b. தேவர் துதி

“விதியின் நாயகரே! அறியவில்லையா – எம்
கதி என்னவாயிற்று புறமுதுகிட்ட பிறகு என?

சிந்தையினின்றும் விலக்கி விட்டீரா எம்மை?
எந்தை எமக்கு என்றும் நீரே அறிவீர்!” எனவும்

“விமோசனம் கிடைக்க நாடுவோம் அனைவரும்
விஷ்ணு, சிவனின் உதவியை இப்போதே!” என்று

சென்றனர் அனைவரும் கைலாச நாதனிடம்,
கண்டனர் அனைவரும் கைலாச நாதனை!

விவரித்தான் நடந்தவற்றை பிரமன் – பின்பு
வினவினான் நடக்க வேண்டியதைப் பற்றி.

சிரித்தார் சிவபிரான் இதைக் கேட்டதும்,
உரைத்தார் தன் நகைப்பின் காரணத்தை!

“வரம் கொடுத்து வாழ்வித்தவனும் நீயே!
வந்து முறையீடு செய்கின்றவனும் நீயே!

அளித்தாய் வரம் பெண்ணால் மரணம் என,
அறிவாயா அந்தப் பெண் உள்ள இடத்தை?

எங்கு உள்ளாள் அத்தகைய ஒரு பெண்?
எவருடன் உள்ளாள் அத்தகைய பெண்?

சிருஷ்டி கர்த்தா நீயே அல்லவா – கூறு
சிருஷ்டித்தாயா அத்தகைய பெண்ணை?

மாயையில் வல்லவர் அசுரர்கள் என்கிறாய்;
மாயையில் வல்லவர் விஷ்ணு என்கிறேன்.

செல்வீர் விஷ்ணுவிடம் ஒன்று கூடி;
சொல்வார் விஷ்ணு நல்ல உபாயம்!”

வீசியது நறுமணம் கமழும் காற்று;
விரவியது பறவைகளின் இனிய இசை.

வானும், திசைகளும் நிர்மலமாகின
வானவருக்குச் சுபசகுனங்கள் ஆகின.

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
 
5#7b. Devaa’s sthuti

The Devaas spoke to Brahma in unison,”Oh Brahma Deva! Don’t you know our plight after we ran away from the battle field ? Have you forgotten all about us already? You are our father! Please remember that always!”

Brahma consoled them and said, I am sure Siva and Vishnu will be able to help us. Let us go to meet them” Accordingly all of them went meet Siva in Kailash.

Brahma explained the plight of the Deva and asked for Siva’s suggestions. Siva had a hearty laugh and explained the reason why he had laughed. He told Brahma,

“You are the one who gives the boons and you are the one who complains about their consequences. You have given a boon that only a woman can kill Mahishan Do you know where such a woman lives? Do you know with whom she stays? You are the god of creation. Tell me now, have you created such a woman till now?

You say that asuraas are well versed in Maayaa but I tell you that Vishnu is well versed in Maayaa. Go to Vishnu and seek his help. I am sure he will come up with a solution to your problem”

A gentle breeze laden with the fragrance of the flowers blew. The sweet song of the birds filled the air. The sky and all the directions became bright and clear. All these formed the auspicious good omens for the Devaas.

10#12a. லக்ஷ்மி, சரஸ்வதி

ஏகாதிபத்திய வெறி கொண்டான் மஹிஷாசுரன்;
ஏகாக்கிர சிந்தையோடு வென்றான் மூவுலகையும்.

ஆக்கினான் தேவர்களைத் தன் அடிமைகளாக!
ஆக்கினான் திக்பாலகர்களைத் தன் ஏவலர்களாக!

சென்றனர் தேவர்கள் பிரமனுடன் சேர்ந்துகொண்டு;
செப்பினர் துயரங்களை விஷ்ணுவிடம், சிவனிடம்!

சினம் பொங்கியது சிவசங்கரன் முகத்தில்;
சினம் பொங்கியது விஷ்ணுவின் முகத்தில்.

சினம் பொங்கியது குழுமியிருந்த தெய்வங்களிடம்;
சினம் பொங்கியது குழுமியிருந்த தேவர்களிடம் ;

சினம் வெளிப்பட்டது ஒரு ஒளி வடிவாக!
சினம் கலந்தது ஒளிகளின் கலவையாக !

தோன்றியது ஒரு முகம் சிவனின் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றியது கருங்கூந்தல் யமனின் ஒளியில்;

தோன்றின இரு கரங்கள் விஷ்ணுவின் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றின இரு ஸ்தனங்கள் சந்திரனின் ஒளியில்;

தோன்றியது சிறு இடுப்பு இந்திரன் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றின முழங்கால்கள் வருணன் ஒளியில்;

தோன்றியது நிதம்பம் பூமியின் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றின பாதங்கள் பிரமனின் ஒளியில்;

தோன்றின கால் விரல்கள் கதிரவன் ஒளியில் ;
தோன்றின கை விரல்கள் வசுக்களின் ஒளியில்.

தோன்றியது நாசி குபேரனின் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றின பற்கள் பிரஜாபதியின் ஒளியில்;

தோன்றின கண்கள் அக்னியின் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றின புருவங்கள் சாத்தியர் ஒளியில்;

தோன்றின செவிகள் வாயுவின் ஒளியில்;
தோன்றினாள் மஹா லக்ஷ்மியாகத் தேவி!"

10#12a. Lakshmi and Saraswati.

The powerful Asura Mahisha - born as a son of a she-buffalo - defeated all the Devas and became the Lord of the whole universe. He began to enjoy the pleasures of all the three worlds. The defeated Devas were expelled from their abodes in Heaven.The DevAs went with BrahmA to meet Siva and VishNu.They said, "The atrocities of MahishAsura have become unbearable. He has taken possessions of the heaven and has driven us out of it. Please save us from him!"

Hearing these words of the Devas, all the Gods and and the other Devas became very angry. From the face of the angry Hari emanated a Fire as brilliant as one thousand Suns. Fire emanated from each and every God and Deva present there and fused to form a brilliant glow of fire.

From the fire was born a beautiful Female Figure. The face of this figure was formed out of the fire that emanated from the body of MahA Deva. Her hairs were formed out of the fire of Yama and Her arms were formed out of the fire that emanated from VishNu.

The fire of the Moon formed her two breasts; The fire of Indra formed her midriff, The fire of VaruNa formed Her loins and thighs; The fire of Earth formed Her hips ; The fire of BrahmA formed Her feet ; The fire of the Sun formed Her toes; The fire of the Vasus formed her Her fingers; Kuvera's fire formed Her nose; the tejas of PrajApati formed her teeth; the fire of Agni formed Her three eyes; the fire of the twilights formed Her eye-brows and the fire of VAyu formed Her ears.

#36d. மூஷிக வாஹனம்

“அபயம்! அபயம் அளியுங்கள் ஸ்வாமி!
அபாயம் இல்லை இனிமேல் என்னால்.

கிரௌஞ்சன் என்னும் கந்தர்வன் நான்;
காமத்தால் கண்ணிருந்தும் குருடானேன்.

முனிவரின் பத்தினியை மோஹித்தேன்;
முனிவரின் சாபத்தால் மூஷிகன் ஆனேன்.

தங்கள் வாஹனமாக ஆகும் பாக்கியம்
தந்து எனை அனுக்ரஹியுங்கள் ஐயனே!”

மூஷிகனை வாஹனமாக ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு,
மூஷிகன் முதுகின் மீது ஆரோஹணித்தார்.

“அபிநந்தனனின் யாகத்தை அழித்த பிறகும்
அடங்கவில்லை இந்திரன் ஏவிய காலநேமி.

அழிக்கின்றான் அனைத்து யாகங்களையும்
அழித்து அவனைக் காப்பாற்றுவீர் எம்மை!’

முனிவர்கள் முன்வைத்தனர் விண்ணப்பம்;
கனிவுடன் கவனிக்கின்றேன் என்றார் ஐயன்.

இந்திராதி தேவர்கள் வந்தனர் ஆசிரமத்துக்கு.
தந்தார் ஆசனம் பராசரர் வந்த அதிதிகளுக்கு.

“காலநேமியின் தலையீட்டால் நின்றுவிட்டது
பூலோகத்தில் நடக்கின்ற யாக, யக்ஞங்கள்.

அவிர்பாகம் பெறாததால் பலவீனத்தால்
அவதிப்படுகின்றோம் பராக்கிரமம் குன்றி.

காலநேமியை அழிக்க வல்ல ஒருவர்
ஞாலத்தில் பிறந்துள்ளதை அறிந்தோம்.

பிரமன் அறிவுறுத்தியபடி வந்துள்ளோம்”
பிரசன்னம் ஆனார் விநாயகர் அப்போது.

“அபயம் அளித்துக் காத்திடும் ஐயனே!”
அபயம் அளித்தார் அன்புடன் விநாயகர்.

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#36d. Mooshika VAhanam

“Please save my oh lord! There will no more danger or damage caused by me. I was a gandharvan named Krounjan.

I felt desire to possess a rushipatni and misbehaved with her. Rishi Sabari cursed me to become a mooshikan. Kindly accept me as your vAhanam and save me from this parasu”

VinAyaka accepted him as his vAhanam. Rushis came in and said, “All the yAga and yagna are being destroyed by KAlanEmi. Please put an end to his atrocities and save us.”

Indra and the other DEvA came to the ashram then. ParAsara extended hospitality to those rare visitors. Indra said,

“KAlanEmi is disrupting all the yAgAs in the world. We do not get our share of the offerings and have become very weak now.

We know that a child who is capable of destroying KAlanEmi is born in the world and we have come to see him.”

VinAyaka appeared there. The DEvA prayed to him, “Abhayam! Abhayam! please put an end to KAlanEmi ” VinAyaka agreed to their request with a smile.

5#8a. தேவி வெளிப்பட்டாள் (1)

வைகுந்தம் சென்றனர் தேவர்கள் கூடி;
வைகுந்த வாசனிடம் வினவினர் இதை;

“வரம் பெற்றுள்ளான் மஹிஷன் பிரமனிடம்
மரணம் நிகழலாம் பெண்ணால் மட்டும் என!

உபாயம் கூறுங்கள் அசுரனை வெல்வதற்கு;
அபாய அசுரனை வெல்ல வல்லவள் யார்?”

“ஒன்றும் இல்லை நாம் செய்ய வல்லது;
ஒன்று உண்டு நம் சக்திகளை விஞ்சியது.

தருவாள் மஹாசக்தி அனைவருக்கும் சக்தி
சேரும் அனைவர் சக்தியும் மஹாசக்தியில்.

தோன்றுவாள் பெண் வடிவில் மஹாசக்தி
தோற்கடிப்பாள் மஹிஷனை மஹாசக்தி.

தோன்ற வல்லவள் சக்தி எங்கிருந்தும்!
தோன்ற வல்லவள் சக்தி எப்போதும்!

இருக்கின்றாள் அவள் எல்ல இடத்திலும்!
இருக்கின்றாள் அவள் தேஜோ மயமாக!

இருக்கின்றாள் ஒவ்வொருவரிடத்திலும்;
இருக்கின்றாள் ஒவ்வொரு செயலிலும்;

அறிவாள் அவள் நம் எண்ணங்களை நன்கு
அறிந்து வெளி வருவாள் நமக்கு உதவிட!

சக்தி வெளிவந்தால் தந்து விடுவோம் நாம்
சக்திக்கு நம் ஆயுதங்கள் அனைத்தையும்.

சக்தி இல்லாதவருக்கு ஆயுதம் எதற்கு?
சக்திக்கே ஆயுதங்கள் பயன்படும் நன்கு!

சக்தி வெளிப்பட, வெளிப்பட வேண்டும்
சக்தி நாதராகிய முக்தி தாயகர் சிவன்!"

5#8a. Devi emerged (1)

Brahma, Indra and the other Deva now went to Vaikuntam and met Lord Vishnu. They asked him,

“Mahishan has secured a rare boon from Brahma that no male can kill him. So none of us will be able to vanquish him. He may be killed by a woman. But is there such a woman? If so, who is she and where is she?”

Vishnu replied,” There is nothing any of us can do now. But there is a power which is superior to the power of all of us put together. It gives the power and energy to every other creature.

It is called as the Mahaa Shakti. All our shakti can merge with that Mahaa Shakti. It will appear as a woman and put an end to the wicked Mahishaasuran.

Shakti can appear from anywhere, at anytime in any manner. She resides in everything and in everyone. She performs every action. She exists in a luminous form. She knows our thoughts and our needs. She will surely emerge to help us.

We shall give her all our weapons when she emerges. Of what use is a weapon in the hands of a weakling with no Shakti? Our weapons will serve better in her hands.

For Shakti to appear in front of us, first of all lord Siva must appear in front of us here now. “

 
By the strangest coincidence Devi appears out of the collective energy (anger) of all the gods both in the Skanda 10 and Skanda 5. So let me present the later part of this poem dealing with her appearance also today itself !

5#8b. தேவி வெளிப்பட்டாள் (2)

தோன்றினான் பரமாத்மாவாகிய சிவபெருமான்;
தோத்திரம் செய்தனர் குழுமியிருந்த தேவர்கள்.

வெளிப்பட்டாள் தேவி தேவர்களிடமிருந்து;
வெளிப்பட்டாள் தனித்தனி சக்தியின் வடிவில்.

தோன்றியது பிரமன் முகத்திலிருந்து சக்தி
ரத்த நிறம் கொண்டு; பத்மராக ஒளியுடன்!

தோன்றியது விஷ்ணுவின் உடலிலிருந்து
வெண்மை நிறத்தோடு, சத்துவ குணத்தோடு!

தோன்றியது சிவபிரானின் உடலிலிருந்து
வெண்மை நிறத்தோடு, தமோ குணத்தோடு!

தோன்றியது இந்திரனின் உடலிலிருந்து
சித்திர வடிவாக, சகல குண சம்பத்துடன்!

தோன்றியது அஷ்ட திக்பாலகர்களிடமிருந்து
விவித வர்ண கிரணங்களின் ஜுவாலையோடு!

வெளிப்பட்ட தேஜோ ராசிகள் ஒன்று கலந்து
ஒளிப் பிழம்பாக நின்றது தேவர்கள் முன்பு.

வெளிப்பட்டாள் ஒளிப் பிழம்பிலிருந்து
ஒளிரும் முகத்தோடு, கருவிழிகளோடு

பவள உதடுகளோடு, பதினெட்டுக் கரங்களோடு,
புவன மோஹினியாக ; பல ஆபரணங்களோடு!

மும்மை குணங்களோடு; மும்மை நிறங்களோடு;
மனோஹரமான வடிவெடுத்து, ஈடுயிணையற்று!

வெளிப்பட்ட சக்திகள் ஒன்று திரண்டன – அதில்
வெளிப்பட்டாள் தேவி ஒளிரும் மஹாசக்தியாக!

5# 8b. Devi emerged! (2)

Lord Siva appeared in front of the assembled Deva and they all sang his praise.

Now the sakti of each and every Deva emerged from his body as a visible light energy.

From Brahma’s face appeared a red colored energy with the brilliance of Padmaraaga.

From Vishnu’s body appeared a shakti white in color and filled with satva gunam.

From Siva’s body appeared an energy white in color and filled with Tamo gunam.

From Indra’s body appeared an energy laden with all the guna sampth.

From the Ashta Dikpaalakas appeared energy in various colors emitting brilliant jwAlA.

Al the energy fused together and stood there as a blinding brilliance in front of the Deva.

From that brilliance emerged Mahaa Shakti Devi. She had a glowing face, beautiful black eyes, coral red lips, eighteen arms, several ornaments and had the three gunas and three colors. She was a beauty nonpareil and a Mohini in all the three worlds.

10#12b. மஹா லக்ஷ்மி (2)

தந்தார் தேவிக்குத் தன் திரிசூலத்தை சிவன்;
தந்தார் தேவிக்குத் தன் சக்கரத்தை விஷ்ணு;

தந்தார் தேவிக்குத் தன் சங்கினை விஷ்ணு;
தந்தான் தேவிக்குத் தன் சக்தியை அக்னி;

தந்தான் தேவிக்குத் தன் அம்பு, வில்லை வாயு;
தந்தான் தேவிக்கு வஜ்ஜிராயுதத்தை இந்திரன்;

தந்தது தேவிக்குக் கண்டா மணியை ஐராவதம்;
தந்தான் தேவிக்குக் காலதண்டத்தை யமன்;

தந்தான் தேவிக்குக் காந்திமாலையைச் சூரியன்;
தந்தான் தேவிக்குக் கட்க கவசங்களைக் காலன்;

தந்தான் தேவிக்குக் கடலரசன் ஹாரம், வஸ்திரம்
குண்டலம், சூடாமணி, தோள்வளை, கண்டசரம், நூபுரம்!

தந்தான் தேவிக்கு மோதிரங்களை விஸ்வகர்மா;
தந்தான் தேவிக்குச் சிம்மவாஹனத்தை இமவான்;

தந்தான் தேவிக்கு சுரா பாத்திரத்தைக் குபேரன்;
தந்தான் தேவிக்கு நாக ஹாரத்தை ஆதிசேஷன்;

வாழ்த்தி வழியனுப்பினர் தேவியை அனைவரும்
"சென்று மகிஷனை வென்று வருவாய்!" என்று!

அழித்தாள் தேவி அசுர சேனையைத் தளபதிகளை;
அழித்தாள் மஹிஷனைப் பாசத்தால் கட்டி வெட்டி!

மஹாசக்தியே மஹிஷனை சம்ஹரிக்க வந்தாள்
மஹாலக்ஷ்மியாகத் தேவர்களின் சினத்திலிருந்து!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

10#12b. Lakshmi and Saraswati

S’iva gave her his trident;
VishNu gave her his Chakra;
VaruNa gave her his conch shell;
Fire gave her his power;
VAyu gave her his bow and arrows;
Indra gave her his thunder bolt;
AirAvat gave her his bell;
Yamagave Her the staff of Destruction;
BrahmA gave Her his RudrAksha and KamaNdalu;
the Sun gave Her his wonderful rays;
the KAlA the Time gave Her a sharp axe and shield;
the king of oceans gave Her beautiful necklace and new clothes, Kataka, Angada, ChandrArdha, tinklets;
VisvakarmA gave her a crown, ear-rings;
HimAlayAs gave Her a Lion to ride on and various gems and jewels.
Kubera gave Her a cup filled with drink;
Ananta gave Her a necklace of snakes .

Thus Devi was honored by all the Devas. Devi worshiped by the DevAs, shouted aloud the War-Cry. MahishAsura startled at that War-Cry, came to fight with Devi with all his army.

A fierce fight ensued. Devi became red-eyed with anger and began to kill the AsurA generals. She tied MahishAwith her noose tightly and cut off his head with her Her axe.

MahA Shakti appeared as Maha Lakshmi in order to kill Mahishan!

#36e. காலநேமி

அங்குசத்தைப் பணித்தார் ஐங்கரன்,
“இங்கும் அங்கும் தேடி பந்திப்பாய்

தொந்தரவு செய்யும் காலநேமியை!”
வந்தது, போன வேகத்திலேயே அது.

பந்தித்துக் கொணர்ந்தது கயவனை;
பகவான் முன் நிறுத்தியது அவனை!

கண்டோர் அஞ்சும் கொடிய உருவம்!
கண்களில் கனல், கோரைப் பற்கள்!

விநாயகரிடமிருந்து தப்பினான் அவன்;
விந்தையாக நீரின் உருவம் எடுத்தான்!

பிரளய ஜலம் போல பிரவகித்தான்;
மிரண்ட உயிர்களை மூழ்கடித்தான்!

உள்ளங்கையில் நீரை அடக்கிவிட்டு
அள்ளிப் பருக முயன்றார் ஐங்கரன்

காக்கை உருவில் பறந்தான் காலநேமி!
சாகரம் வற்றியது; மலைகள் நடுங்கின!

தாமரை மலரை வீசினார் ஐங்கரன்!
தாமதம் இன்றித் தீஜ்வாலை ஆகி

எரித்தான் அதீத உஷ்ணத்தினால்
மிருகங்கள், பயிர்கள் உயிர்களை.

விநாயகர் மாறினார் மழையாக;
அனாயசமாக அணைத்தார் தீயை!

புயலாக மாறினான் காலநேமி!
புயலைத் தடுத்தார் விநாயகர்

மலையாக உருவத்தை மாற்றினார்.
மலையைத் தாக்கினான் காலநேமி!

வேலை எறிந்தார் விநாயகர் அவன் மீது;
வேல் உண்டது சீறி வந்த பாணங்களை!

வேலிடமிருந்து தப்ப வழி உள்ளதா?
வேழ முகனிடமிருந்து தப்ப முடியுமா?

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி
