A poem a day to keep all agonies away!

# 36e. KAlanEmi

VinAyaka ordered his ankusam. “Go forth and bind the wicked KAlanEmi. Bring him to me”. The ankusam left and returned almost immediately, dragging KAlanEmi along with it.

KAlanEmi was fearsome with eyes like live coals and sharp canine teeth. He transformed himself into water and flowed away like the praLaya jalam.

He submerged all the frightened creatures. VinAyaka contained him in his palm and was about to drink him, but KAlanEmi became a crow and flew away.

He was so huge and powerful that the seas dried up and the mountains trembled when he flew! VinAyaka threw his lotus flower at KAlanEmi.

He became a huge flame of fire and scorched the plants, animals and other forms of life with his intense heat. VinAyaka became a rain cloud and put out the flame and fire.

KAlanEmi became a stormy wind. VinAyaka transformed to a mountain and stopped the wind. KAlanEmi attacked the mountain with his vajrAyudham. VinAyaka threw his spear on KAlanEmi.

5#8c. தேவியின் ஸ்வரூபம்

அளவிட முடியாது தேவியின் அழகை நம்மால்!
தெளிவாக்க முடியாது அங்க லாவண்யங்களை!

தனக்கு என ஒரு உருவம் இல்லாதவள் அவள்;
தனக்கு விருப்பமான உருவத்தை எடுப்பவள்.

திருவருள் புரிவாள் கர்ம வினைப்படி – அவள்
திருப் பெயர்களோ எண்ணில் அடங்காதவை.

மகிஷனை வதைக்கத் தோன்றிய தேவியின்
தேஹ அழகைக் கூறுவேன் நான் இப்போது.

திருமுகத்தில் ஒளிரும் சங்கரனின் தேஜஸ்;
கருமுகில் கூந்தலில் யமனின் தேஜோராசி;

புருவங்களில் சந்த்தியா தேவியின் தேஜஸ்;
கருவிழிகள் மூன்றில் அக்னியின் தேஜஸ்;

எள்ளுப்பூ நாசியில் குபேரனின் தேஜஸ்,
முத்துப் பல் வரிசையில் பிரமனின் தேஜஸ்,

மேல் உதட்டில் ஒளிரும் முருகனின் தேஜஸ்;
கீழ் உதட்டில் ஒளிரும் அருணனின் தேஜஸ்;

பதினெட்டுக் கரங்களில் விஷ்ணுவின் தேஜஸ்;
மதியொளி வீசும் நகங்களில் வசுக்களின் தேஜஸ்;

பொற்குடங்கள் இரண்டில் சந்திரனின் தேஜஸ்,
சிற்றிடையில் ஒளிர்ந்தது இந்திரனின் தேஜஸ்;

தொடை, முழங்கால்களில் வருணனது தேஜஸ்;
அடைந்தது நிதம்பத்தை விபுலனுடைய தேஜஸ்;

வெளிப்பட்டன தேஜோரசிகள் ஆயுதங்களிலிருந்து;
அளித்தனர் ஆயுதங்களைத் தேவியின் கரங்களில்!

பதினெட்டு ஆயுதங்கள் தாங்கி நின்ற தேவியை
பணிந்து நின்றது குழுமிய தேவர்களின் சமூஹம்.

5#8c. Devi’s swaroopam

One cannot describe the beauty of the Mahaa Shakti Devi. One cannot describe the beauty of her lovely limbs. Devi has no form of her own but will take any form she wishes to assume.

She gives her grace in accordance to the effects of our poorma karma. Her names are more than we can count. I shall try to describe the beauty of the Devi who had appeared to put an end to the arrogant Mahishaasuran.

The tajas of Sankaran shone on her face.

The tajas of Yama shone on her dense black curly hair.

The tajas of Sandhya Devi shone on her two lovely eye brows.

The tajas of Agni shone in her three jet black eyes.

The tajas of Kubera shone on her lovely straight nose.

The tajas of Brahma shone on her two rows of pretty pearly teeth.

The tajas of Subramanya shone on her upper lip.

The tajas of Arunan shone on her lower lip.

The tajas of Vishnu shone on her eighteen arms.

The tajas of Ashta Vasus shone on her luminous nails.

The tajas of Chandran shone on her firm young breasts.

The tajas of Indra shone on her beautiful narrow waist

The tajas of Varuna shone on her thighs and knees

The tajas of Vipula shone on her lower back.

The tejas emerged from all the aayudams of all the Devaas.

All the aayudams were presented to Devi by the Devaas.

Devi stood there in her full glory sporting an aayudam in each of her eighteen arms.

All the Devaas praised and prostrated to the all powerful Mahaa Shakti Devi.

10#12c. சரஸ்வதி தேவி

தோன்றினாள் சரஸ்வதி சும்ப, நிசும்பரை அழிப்பதற்கு;
தோன்றினாள் இமயத்தில் தேவர்கள் துதிக்கும் பொழுது.

"துன்பத்தைத் துடைக்க வல்ல எங்கள் தேவியே!
துன் மார்க்கர்களை அழித்திட உருவெடுப்பவளே!

வர்ஜிக்க வல்லவள் நீ ஜனன, மரண சுழற்சியை.
வல்லவள் நீ! உன்னதமானவள் நீ அனைத்திலுமே.

எளியவள் ஆவாய் நீ பக்தர்களின் பக்திக்கு;
வலிமையோடு கொண்டுள்ளாய் பராக்கிரமம்.

மும்மூர்த்திகளின் ஸ்வரூபம் கொண்டவள் நீ!
முத்தொழில்களைப் புரிந்து வரும் தேவியும் நீ!

பிரியம் கொண்டுள்ளாய் தாண்டவம் செய்வதில்.
புரிவாய் கருணை! தருவாய் அபயம்!" என்றனர்

தோன்றினாள் தேவியின் அடர்ந்த கேசத்திலிருந்து
தேவி கௌசிகை தேவர்களுக்கு அபயம் அளித்திட.

"அஞ்சற்க தேவர்களே!" என்று அபயம் அளித்தாள்.
"அழிக்கின்றேன் அசுரர்களை!" என அபயம் தந்தாள்.

சண்ட, முண்டர்கள் கண்டனர் தேவியின் அழகை;
விண்டனர் சும்ப, நிசும்பரிடம் தேவியின் அழகை! "

அவள் ஒரு பெண் ரத்தினம்! காண்பதற்கரியவள்
அவள் இருக்க வேண்டும் உங்கள் அந்தப்புரத்தில்!"

மோஹம் கொண்டான் சும்பாசுரன் தேவியின் மீது;
மோஹம் வளர்ந்தது கண்களால் காணமலேயே!

10#12c. MahA Saraswati

Saraswati Devi appeared in order to destroy the wicked asurAs Shumbha and Nishumbha, when the DevAscollectively prayed to the MahA Shakti on the HimAlayAs.

The DevAs prayed thus, " You alone can remove our sufferings Oh Devi! You assume a form in order to destroy the wicked people and save the good people.

You are capable of freeing anyone from the cycle of birth and death. You are the supreme among everyone and everything. You are merciful to your devotees. You have immense power though you are very merciful. You are the swaroopam of the Trinity. You perform the three tasks of the Trinity by yourself. Please have mercy on us and save us!"

Kousiki Devi appeared from the dense black hair of Shakti Devi to give fearlessness to the DevAs. She told the DevAS, " Do not have any more fear. I will destroy the wicked Shumbha and Nishumbha and protect you!"

ChaNda and MuNda saw this beautiful Devi. They went and told Shumbha "The Devi with an unusual beauty is a gem among women. Her rightful place is your harem"

Sumba fell head over heels in love with the Devi - on whom he had not yet set his eyes!

#36f. விக்ன விநாயகர்

தப்பவே முடியாது என்ற நிலை வந்ததும்,
அப்பனிடம் சரண் புகுந்தான் காலநேமி.

“வேலிடமிருந்து காப்பாற்றுங்கள் ஐயனே!
வேலை முடிந்ததும் சாந்தம் அடையாமல்,

மேலும் கொடுமைகள் புரிந்தேன் – இனி
மேலும் துன்புறுத்த மாட்டேன் ஐயனே!”

வேலாயுதத்தைத் திருப்பி அழைத்தார்;
காலநேமியின் அச்சத்தைப் போக்கினார்.

“சரண் அடைந்தவரை அழிப்பது இல்லை
முரண் படாமல் கூறுவததைச் செய்வாய்.

பக்தர்களைத் பற்றினால் அழித்துவிடுவேன்
மற்றவர்களைப் பற்றலாம் நீ!” அனுமதித்தார்.

“உயிர் கொடுத்த உத்தமரே! பணிவேன் என்
உயிர் உள்ளவரையில் உங்கள் ஆணைகளை!”

விக்கினங்கள் புரிந்து வந்த காலநேமியை
விக்கின விநாயகர் அடக்கினார் என்றதும்,

“எம்பெருமானே குழந்தையாகப் பிறந்தும்
துன்பமுற்று காட்டுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டேன்”

வரேண்ய ராஜன் ஓடினான் காட்டுக்கு.
பராசரரிடம் கோரினான் தன் மகனை!

பெற்றனர் வரங்கள் ஐயனைப் பெற்றவர்;
பெற்றனர் வரங்கள் ஐயனை வளர்த்தவர்.

திரும்பினார் தம் லோகத்துக்கு விநாயகர்;
அருமையான புதிய பட்டப் பெயருடன்!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.

#36f. Vigna VinAyaka

When KAlanEmi was sure that it was impossible to escape from the spear, he surrendered to lord VinAyaka. “Please protect me from your spear. I should have become calm and peaceful after completing my mission set by Indra. But I continued to do harm and destroy all the YAga and Yagna. I will not hurt or harm anyone in the future. I promise!”

VinAyaka called back the spear and saved KAlanEmi from destruction. He told KAlanEmi, “I will not destroy anyone who seeks my protection. In future do not trouble any of my bhaktAs. If you trouble, I will have to destroy you. ” KAlanEmi said, “You have spared my life. I will obey your commands as long as I live.”

VarENya RAjan realized his folly. He had got VinAyaka himself as his son and yet he was foolish enough to disown the child. He ran to meet sage ParAsara. He wanted his son back.

But VinAyaka said, ” My mission has been accomplished and I have to return to my world.” He showered many boons on the King and Queen as well as the sage Paraasara and his wife, before returning to his own land.

He got a new title Vigna VinAyaka – since he conquered KAlanEmi who was creating a lot of problems in the world.

5#9a. போர்க் கோலம்

தந்தார் சிவசங்கரன் தனது சூலாயுதத்தை;
தந்தார் விஷ்ணு தன் சுதர்சனச் சக்கரத்தை.

தந்தான் அக்னி தன் ஆயுதம் சதக்னியை;
தந்தான் வாயு தேவன் வில், அம்புகளை;

தந்தான் இந்திரன் தன் வஜ்ஜிராயுதத்தை;
தந்தான் யமதர்மன் தன் தண்டாயுதத்தை;

தந்தான் பிரமன் தன் கமண்டலத்தை;
தந்தான் வருணன் தன் பாசத்தை;

தந்தான் குபேரன் தன் மதுப் பாத்திரத்தை;
தந்தான் துவஷ்டா கதை, கவசம், நூபுரம்;

தந்தான் சூரியன் தன் ஒளிக் கற்றைகளை;
தந்தான் விஸ்வகர்மா கங்கணம் தோள்வளை;

தந்தது திருப்பாற்கடல் ஆடை ஆபரணங்கள்;
தந்தது சமுத்திரம் கண்டிகை, மோதிரங்கள்;

தந்தான் மலையரசன் ரத்தினங்கள்; வாஹனம்;
தந்தான் ஐராவதம் நன்கு ஒலிக்கும் மணிகளை;

ஏறி அமர்ந்தாள் தேவி சிம்ஹ வாஹனத்தில்!
மாறியது தேவர்களின் துக்கமும், அச்சமும்!

விண்ணப்பம் செய்தனர் தேவர் சக்திதேவியிடம்,
“விண்ணுலகைக் காப்பாய் மஹிஷனைக் கொன்று!”

5#9a. The gift of arms by Devaas

Siva presented Devi with his trident and Vishnu with his Sudarshan.
Agni presented her with his sathagni and Vaayu with his bow and arrows.
Indra presented her with his vajraayudam and Yama with his dandaayudam
Brahma presented her with his kamaNdalam and Varuna with his paasam
Kuberan presented her with a wine cup and Thvashta with his mace, armor and a noopur.
The Sun gave her his rays of light and Viswakarma gave her kankaN and vangi ornaments
Milk ocean gave silks and ornaments and the Salt water ocean more ornaments and rings.
Parvata rajan gave her rare gems and a simha vaahanam and Airavat a bell with a loud clear ring.
Devi sat on her simha vaahanam ready for a war. The fear and sorrow of the Devaas vanished.
They prostrated to her and prayed, “Please save the swarggam by killing the arrogant Mahishan”

10#12d. மஹா சரஸ்வதி

சுக்ரீவன் சென்றான் தேவியிடம் தூதுவனாக;
சுக்ரீவன் சொன்னான் சும்பன் தூது மொழியை.

எடுத்துரைத்தான் சும்பனின் மேன்மைகளை;
எடுத்துரைத்தான் சும்பனையே மணக்குமாறு .

கூறினாள் தேவி தூதனிடம் தன் பிரதிக்ஞையை,
"கூறுவாய் சும்பனிடம் என்னுடன் போர் புரிந்திட.

வெல்ல வேண்டும் என் கரத்தைத் திருமணத்தில் எனில்,
வெல்ல வேண்டும் என்னைப் போர்க்களத்தில் முதலில்!"

சினந்தான் சும்பன் பிரதிக்ஞையைக் கேட்டதும் - தன்
இனத்தின் வீரன் தும்பரனை அனுப்பினான் தேவியிடம்.

"இழுத்துக் கொண்டு வருவாய் சென்று - என்னிடம் அந்த
அழகிய அஹங்காரியின் கூந்தலைப் பற்றிக் கொண்டு!"

சென்றான் தும்பரன் அசுர சேனைகளுடன் போர்க்களம்;
சொன்னான் "பற்றி இழுத்துச் செல்வேன் உன் கூந்தலை!"

ஆங்காரத்துடன் தேவி இட்டாள் உரத்த குரலில்
ஹூங்காரம் போர்க்களத்தில் தும்பரனை நோக்கி!

மாண்டான் தும்பரன் அந்தக் கணமே அங்கேயே!
மாய்த்தது சிங்கம் அசுர சேனைகளைப் பாய்ந்து!

வந்தனர் சண்ட முண்டர் ரக்த பீஜன் அடுத்தடுத்து;
மாய்ந்தனர் தேவியின் கரங்களில் அடுத்தடுத்து.

வந்தனர் சும்ப நிசும்பர்கள் களம் அடுத்ததாக;
மாய்ந்தனர் சும்ப நிசும்பர்கள் அடுத்ததாக.

மஹா ஸரஸ்வதியாகத் தோன்றினாள் - அந்த
மஹா தேவியே சும்ப நிசும்பரை அழிப்பதற்கு.

10#12d. MahA Saraswati (2)

Sugreevan was sent as a messenger to Devi, by Shumbha. He conveyed the message sent by Shumbha. He praised the greatness of ShumbhAsurA and advised Devi to marry him.

Devi replied to him, "I have taken an oath long ago that I shall marry only him who can defeat me in a war. Tell your king ShumbAsurA to win over me in the war field, if he wants to win my love and my hand in marriage."

Shumbha became very angry to hear such words from a woman. He sent DumrA with this instruction," Bring that arrogant woman to me, dragging her by the hair on her head!"

DumrA went with a huge asura army. He told Devi, "You will be dragged by me by the hair on your head to Shumbha!" Devi got very angry and made a hoonkaaram which killed DumrA instantly. The lion managed to kill the army that had accompanied DumbrA.

ChaNda, MuNda and Raktha Beeja came to the war front next. They too were killed by Devi. Finally Shumbha and NishumbA came to the war front . They too got killed by Devi.

MahA Shakti appeared as MahA Saraswati on HimAlayAs in order to destroy ShumbhA and Nishumbha.

#37a. வேதங்கள் எங்கே?

தேவர், அசுரர் இடையே நடந்தது,
தேவையற்ற நீண்ட யுத்தம் ஒன்று!

வேதங்களையே அஸ்த்திரமாக்கி
தேவர்கள் வென்றனர் அசுரர்களை.

தோற்ற அசுரர்கள் ஓடி ஒளிந்தனர்;
தேற்றினார் சங்க, கமல அசுரர்கள்.

“வேதங்கள் ஆயுதங்களாக மாறின;
வேதங்கள் இருப்பது பிரம்மனிடம்.

கைப் பற்ற வேண்டும் அவற்றை நாம்;
கைமேல் வெற்றி தரும் அவை நமக்கு!”

சங்காசுரன் அனுப்பினான் இளவலை;
“எங்கிருந்தாலும் தேடிக் கொண்டு வா!”:

பிரம்ம லோகம் சென்றான் மாயையால்;
பிரம்ம தேவனைக் கண்டான் தியானத்தில்

எளிதாகத் திருடிவிட்டான் வேதங்களை;
ஒளித்தும் விட்டான் சங்காசுரன் கடலில்!

நிஷ்டை கலைந்த பிரம்மன் திடுக்கிட்டான்;
கஷ்டகாலம் வேதங்களைக் காணவில்லை!

குழப்பம் நிலவியது எல்லா இடங்களிலும்;
வழக்கமான நீதிநெறிமுறைகள் குலைந்தன.

ஞான திருஷ்டியில் கண்டான் பிரம்மன்
ஞானச் சுவடிகள் கடல் நீரின் அடியில்!

பரந்தாமன் பாற்கடலில் அறிதுயிலில்;
பரமசிவனை நாடி ஓடினார் பிரம்மன்;

“விநாயகரே வெல்ல வல்லவர் அசுரரை;
விநாயகர் அருளைக் கோருவாய்!” என்றார்.

பிரமன் அமர்ந்தான் தன் பத்ம ஆசனத்தில்,
கரிமுகன் தோன்றினான் பிரத்தியக்ஷமாக.

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#37a. Where are the VEdAs?

A long war went on between the DEvA and AsurA for no real reason at all. Finally the DEvA defeated the AsurA by using the VEdAs as an asthram. The AsurAs got defeated and went into hiding.

SankAsuran and KamalAsuran were not happy with this defeat. They spoke to the other AsurAs. “We can win over the DEvA if we have the VEdAs with us. We must get hold of them somehow!”

SankAsuran sent his younger brother KamalAsuran to steal the VEdAs. KamalAsuran went to SatylalOkam using his power of MAyA. He found Brahma in deep meditation and it became very easy to steal the VEdAs. He hid them under the sea water.

When Brahma came out of his meditation, he found that the VEdAs had been stolen. He got upset since without the VEdAs, confusion would spread everywhere and Dharma would take a back seat.

He saw in his divya dhrushti that the VEdAs were hidden under the sea water. He ran to VishNu for help but he was asleep on AadisEshan.

He then ran to Parama Sivan. Siva told him, “Those powerful AsurAs can be destroyed only by VinAyaka. Seek his grace.” Brahma sat on his lotus Asanam and meditated on VinAyaka.

VinAyaka appeared to give a dharshan to Brahma.

5#9b. கர்ஜனை

தேவி கூறினாள் புன்னகை பூத்த முகத்துடன்,
தேவர்களிடம் தன் தேனினும் இனிய குரலில்.

“செருக்கு அழித்துவிடும் ஒருவனை – ஞானச்
செல்வமே காக்கும் அவனியில் ஒருவனை.

பாதுகாக்க வல்லது பகுத்தறியும் திறன் ஒன்றே.
பாதுகாக்காது காவல் அறிவு திரிந்த ஒருவனை.

ஆட்டம் முடியும் வெகு விரைவில் – நாடகக்
கூட்டம் கலைந்து செல்வது போல்” என்றாள்.

‘எந்தப் பொருளும் நிலைத்து இருப்பதில்லை,
வந்து போகும் செல்வம் நல்வினைப் பயனாக.

துய்ப்பார்கள் அனுபவங்களை தம் உடலால்,
துய்க்கும் உடலும் காலத்தின் வசப்பட்டது.

காலமோ எனில் சூரியனின் வசப்பட்டது,
கால வயப்பட்டவை எல்லா ஜீவராசிகளும்.

வேண்டிப் பெறுகின்றனர் செல்வத்தை, உடலை.
வேண்டாம் என்றாலும் வந்து சேரும் துன்பம்.

துன்ப வயப்பட்டு தடைப்படும் இன்பம் எனினும்
இன்பத்தைத் தானே விழைகின்றார்கள் மக்கள்.

வரங்களும் செல்வமும் காலமன்றோ தந்து
அரக்கனுக்கு இந்த மமதையை வளர்த்தது?’

எண்ணினாள் தேவி; நகைத்தாள் குலுங்கி!
பண்ணினாள் உரத்த குரலில் ஒரு கர்ஜனை.

நடுங்கினர் அசுர வீரர்கள் அதைக் கேட்டு
இடியுண்ட நாகங்கள் போல உடல் நடுங்கி!

நடுங்கின மலையும், பூமியும், கடலும்,
ஓடினர் அசுரர் மஹிஷனின் சபைக்கு

5#9b. Devi’s uproar!

Devi spoke to the assembly of the Devaas in a sweet voice, “Arrogance and pride will destroy a person. Only a good sense prevailing can protect him

The power of discretion is essential. No amount of security can protect a person whose intellect is got perverted. Mahishan’s arrogant show will end very soon.”

Devi thought to herself, “Nothing is permanent. Wealth and other things come and go depending on the puNya and paapa the jeeva has accumulated. Everything is experienced through ones’ body. The body is also impermanent. It is Time-bound and the Time itself is bound by the movement of the Sun.

Everything in my creation is Time-bound. People pray for wealth and the body they wish to get. But sorrow comes to them though uninvited.

Pleasures will be marred by pains and joys will be disturbed by sorrows. Everyone knows this, yet people seek only pleasure and joy all the time. Favorable Time has made Mahishan so strong, so powerful and so arrogant by giving him the rare boons.’

She laughed to herself. Then she made a loud noise which made the asura warriors tremble in fear! Even the mountains, the earth and the oceans trembled due to that loud noise. The frightened asuraas ran to the sabha on Mahishan.

10#12e. ஸாவர்ணி மனு

கூறினார் முனிவர் மன்னனிடம் இந்த விவரங்களை;
கூறினார் முனிவர் மன்னனிடம் தேவியை வணங்க.

"ஆக்கல், காத்தல், அழித்தல் மூன்றும் செய்கிறாள்
அகிலத்தின் அன்னையான மஹேஸ்வரி தேவியே!

தருவாள் நாம் விரும்பும் வரங்களை - உன் நோக்கம்
நிறைவேறும் அவளிடம் நீ சரண் புகுந்தால்!" என்றார்.

தேவியின் உருவம் சமைத்தான் மண்ணினால்;
தேவியைத் தியானித்துப் பூஜித்தான் மன்னன்.

பலி கொடுத்தான் தன் உதிரத்தையே சுரதன்;
பலித்தது அவன் தவம்! காட்சி தந்தாள் தேவி!

"அகல வேண்டும் என் அறியாமை முற்றிலும்!
பெருக வேண்டும் என்னுள்ளே அறிவு, ஞானம்!

பெற வேண்டும் நான் அரச வாழ்வை மீண்டும்!
பெற வேண்டும் பகைவர் பயமற்ற ஆட்சியை !"

"விரும்பியவை எல்லாம் பெறுவாய் இப்பிறவியில்;
விளங்குவாய் ஸாவர்ணி மனுவாக மறுபிறவியில்.

மன்வந்தரத்தின் தலைவனாகத் திகழ்வாய் - மேலும்
மனம் மகிழ்வாய் நல்ல சந்ததியினரைப் பெற்றதால்."

10#12e. SAvarNi Manu

Sage SumedhA told Kind Suratha all these and advised him to worship Devi in order to get his heart's desires fulfilled.

"The three tasks namely Creation, Protection and Destruction are all done by Devi Maheswari. She is the mother of the Universe. She fulfills the desires of her devotees. Surrender to her and worship her to get your boons from her"

King Suratha made an image of Devi with clay. He worshipped her with intense devotion. He offered his own blood in the sacrifice. Devi was very pleased and appeared before him.

King told Devi," Oh Mother! Please remove my utter ignorance. Please bless me with pure intellect and wisdom. I want to rule my kingdom again but without the fear of enemies."

Devi blessed him and said, "You will get whatever you wish for in this birth. You will become SAvarNiManu in your next birth. You will be the ruler during one Manvantara.

You will get worthy sons and grandsons. You will enjoy the pleasures of a kingly life for a long time!"

#37b. மல்லாலர்

“வேதங்கள் அழிந்து போனதாக எண்ணி
வேதனை கொள்ளாதே பிரம்மதேவனே!

வேதம், ஆகமம், புராணங்கள் மூன்றும்
பேதமின்றி ஆயின எனது முக்கண்கள்.

கமலாசுரனை அழிப்பேன் விரையில்;
கவலையை ஒழித்து விடு!” என்றார்.

சாந்தம் அடைந்தான் பிரம்ம தேவன்;
சத்யலோகம் திரும்பிச் சென்றான்.

அழகிய அந்தணன் ஆனான் கணபதி;
பழகிய கணங்கள் ஆயினர் சீடர்கள்.

சுந்தர ஆசிரமத்தைச் சென்று சேர்ந்திட,
வந்து பணிந்தனர் அங்கிருந்த முனிவர்.

“உம்மைக் கண்டது எம் கவலை மறைந்தது;
எம்மை கௌரவித்துத் தங்குவீர் இங்கேயே ”

“மல்லாலர் என்பது அந்தணன் என் பெயர்;
சொல்லக் கேட்டேன் நால்வேதங்கள் பற்றி

களவு போயினவாம் வேதங்கள் நான்கும்;
தளர்ந்து போயினவாம் நீதி நெறிமுறைகள்.

என்னிடம் உள்ளன அதே நால் வேதங்கள்;
உதவுகின்றேன் நான் இயன்ற வரையில்!”

இருக்க இடம் தந்தனர் அவருக்கு;
திரும்ப உபதேசித்தார் வேதங்களை!

தர்மங்கள் மீண்டும் தழைத்தோங்கின;
கர்மங்கள் மீண்டும் நீதிநெறிப்பட்டன;

உலகில் நிகழும் மாற்றங்களை எல்லாம்
உணர்ந்தான் கமலாசுரன் உள்ளது உள்ளபடி!

சங்காசுரனிடம் சென்று செப்பினான் அவன்
எங்கும் வேதங்கள் மீண்டும் தழைப்பதை!

#37b. MallAlar

VinAyaka spoke to Brahma, “Do not feel sad that The VEdAs have been destroyed. My three eyes are the Aagamam, VEdam and PurANam. I will spread The VEdAs again. I will destroy KamalAsuran soon.”

Brahma got consoled and went back to his Satyalokam with his mind at peace.

VinAyaka transformed himself into a handsome brahmachAri. His gaNaas became his disciples. The group went to the Sundara Ashram.

The rushis living in that Ashram felt reassured by the divine look of the brahmachAri. They came running to the group and welcomed them heartily.

“Your very appearance has reassured us that all is not lost yet. Please stay in our Ashram and honor us with your august presence.”

VinAyaka spoke to them,”My name is MallAlar. I heard about the VEdAs being stolen by the asurAs and Dharma being disrupted in the world. I have the VEdAs with me. I can help you to spread them again on earth.”

MallAlar and his disciples stayed in the Sundara Ashram. Everyday the rushis learned The VEdAs from this divine brahmachAri. Dharma was reestablished and the confusions spreading in the world was controlled by the spread of VEdAs.

KamalAsuran noticed all these changes and went to his elder brother SankAsuran and reported, “The VEdAs are not dead. The are kept alive and are spreading very fast.”

5#9c. தூதுவன் வர்ணனை

நடுங்கி ஓடி வந்த அசுர வீரர்களிடம் கேட்டான்,
மிடுக்கான மஹிஷன் ஒரு கேள்வி சினத்துடன்.

“செய்தவன் யார் இந்தப் பேரொலியை? – அவன்
கையைப் பிடித்து இழுத்து வாருங்கள் இங்கே!

அசுரரே அஞ்சும் ஒலி எழுப்பியவனை நான்
நசுக்கி விடுகின்றேன் என் கைகளாலேயே !”

தேடிச் சென்றனர் ஓசை வந்த திசையில் – கண்டு
ஓடித் திரும்பினர் தேஜோமய தேவியை அங்கு!

“பேரொலி செய்தது அசுரனோ தேவனோ அல்ல!
பேரொளி வீசி நிற்கும் ஓர் அழகிய இளம் பெண்!

கண்டதில்லை இதுவரை அத்தகைய பெண்ணை!
கண்டிருக்க மாட்டீர்கள் அது போன்ற பெண்ணை!

பேச முயன்றோம், எழவில்லை நாவு – கண்கள்
கூசின அந்தப் பெண் வீசிய பேரொளியினால்.

உக்கிர ரூபியாக நிற்கின்றாள் அவள் – ஒவ்வொரு
பக்கத்துக்கும் அழகிய ஒன்பது கரங்கள் விளங்க.

பதினெட்டு ஆயுதங்கள் கரங்களில் ஒளிர்ந்திட,
பன்னிரண்டு ஆதித்தியரும் ஒளியில் நாணமுற.

நித்திய இளமை வாய்ந்தவள் – அவள்
வைத்துள்ளாள் பான பாத்திரம் கையில்!

“வைத்துள்ளேன் இந்த பான பாத்திரத்தை,
வைப்பேன் இதில் அரக்கர் உதிரத்தை நிரப்பி!”

கூத்தாடுகின்றனர் தேவர்கள் வானத்தில்,
ஏத்திப் புகழ்ந்து பாடுகின்றனர் பெண்ணை.

எடுத்துக் கூறுகின்றனர் நம்மைப் பற்றி;
கொடுமை அழியக் கோருகின்றனர் உதவி.

கோபம் கொள்கிறாள் அவள் – தேவர்கள்
தாபம் கூறி நிவாரணம் வேண்டுகையில்!”

5#9c. The messengers

Mahishan got annoyed by the loud noise and the agitation among the asuraas. He demanded to know angrily,”Who has dared to make such a loud noise – loud enough to frighten the asuraa? Bring him here and I shall destroy him with my bare hands.”

His messengers ran in the direction where the noise had come. They ran back after seeing the Devi so brilliant and bold. They told Mahishan,

“It is neither a Deva nor an asura who had made that noise. It is made by a dazzling damsel. We have not seen any woman like her before. We are sure you would not have seen one either.

We tried to talk to her but our voices failed us. She is in terrible anger. She has nine arms in each side and carries weapons in each of her eighteen arms.

The Dwaadasa Aadithya will feel ashamed seeing her brilliance. She is eternally young. She carries a goblet in her hand. She proclaims,”I shall fill this with the blood of the asuraas.”

The Devaas are dancing with joy and praising the young women. They are complaining about us and seeking her help to rid them of their problems. She grows more and more angry on hearing the plight of the Devaas.“

10#13a. மனுக்கள்

ஆறு புதல்வர் இருந்தனர் வைவஸ்வத மனுவுக்கு;
ஆகாரம் நித்திரை விடுத்துச் செய்தனர் கடும் தவம்.

ஆய தவம் செய்தனர் பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள்;
தூய அறிவு பெற்றனர்; ஞானம் விளைந்தது!

காட்சி தந்தாள் தேவி மலர்ந்த முகத்துடன்;
மாட்சிமை வாய்ந்த பகையற்ற அரசாட்சி,

நீண்டகாலம் வாழும் நல்ல சந்ததியினர்;
நிறைந்த அரசபோகம், புகழ், பக்தி தந்தாள்.

பூவுலக அதிபதிகளாக இருந்தனர் இவர்கள்;
ஸாவர்ணி மனுக்களாயினர் மறு பிறவியில்.

ஒன்பதாம் மனு ஆனான் தாக்ஷ ஸாவர்ணி
பத்தாவது மனு ஆனான் மேரு ஸாவர்ணி

பதினோராவது மனு ஆனான் சூரிய ஸாவர்ணி
பன்னிரெண்டாம் மனு ஆனான் சந்திர ஸாவர்ணி.

பதிமூன்றாவது மனு ஆனான் ருத்ர ஸாவர்ணி;
பதினான்காம் மனு ஆனான் விஷ்ணு ஸாவர்ணி.

10#13a. The SAvarNi Manus

Vaiwasvatha Manu has six brilliant and valiant sons. They did severe penance towards Devi - sacrificing their food and sleep.

They observed the harsh austerities for twelve years. Their ignorance was removed and they obtained pure knowledge and wisdom.

Devi who was pleased with their penance, appeared before them and gave them these boons. Ruler ship without the fear of enemies, powerful sons and grandsons who had a long life span, kingly pleasures, fame and undiminished devotion.

They became the unchallenged rulers of the earth.They became the SAvarNi Manus in their next birth.

By Devi's grace, the first prince became the Ninth Manunamed Daksha SAvarNi and the second prince became the Tenth Manu named MeruSAvarNi.

The third prince became the Eleventh Manu named Soorya SAvarNi and the fourth prince became the Twelfth Manu named Chandra SAvarni.

The fifth prince became the Thirteenth Manu named Rudra SAvarNi and the sixth prince became the Fourteenth Manu named VishNu SAvarni.

#37c. மாயப் படை

“தேவர்கள் வலிமையை அழித்திட,
வேதங்களை ஒளித்தேன் கடலில்.

சுந்தர ஆசிரமத்துக்கு வந்துள்ளான்,
அந்தணன் ஒருவன் சீடர்களுடன்.

வேதப் புத்தகங்களை வைத்துள்ளனாம்!
வேதங்களை மீண்டும் பரப்புகின்றானாம்!

யாகங்கள் தடையின்றி நடந்து – அவிர்
பாகங்கள் பெறுகின்றனர் தேவர்கள்!”.

“தேவர்களே அஞ்சி ஓடுவர் நம்மிடம்
கேவலம் அந்தணணிடம் அச்சமா?

படையுடன் புறப்பட்டுப் போ நீ உடனே,
அடக்கிவிட்டு வா அந்த அந்தணனை!”

‘இந்திரனனே அஞ்சும் போது அந்த
அந்தணணிடம் என்ன மாயமோ?’

சதுரங்க சேனையுடன் புறப்பட்டு
சேர்ந்தான் சுந்தர ஆசிரமம் அசுரன்.

அசரீரி கூறியது அவன் படைஎடுப்பை.
அச்சம் நிலவியது சுந்தர ஆசிரமத்தில்!

மல்லாலர் ஊக்கப்படுத்தினார் முனிவரை;
சொல்லோடு நில்லாமல் விந்தை புரிந்தார்!

ஆசிரமம் முழுவதும் படை வீரர்கள்
ஆயுதம் ஏந்தி நின்றனர் நொடியில்!

கமலாசுரன் படை வந்து சேர்ந்ததும்,
கடலெனக் கலந்தன இரு படைகளும்.

#37c. The Battle

“I stole and hid the VEdAs under the sea water in order to make the DEvA weaker. A brahmachAri has come to Sundara Ashram with his disciples. He has the VEdAs with him.

He is teaching the VEdAs and spreading Dharma in the world again. YAga and Yagna have been resumed. The DEvA get their share of the havis and are becoming stronger now.” KamalAsuran told his elder brother SankAsuran.

“Even the DEvA run away at our sight. Are you afraid of a little Brahmin my dear brother? Take an army with you and teach that Brahmin a good lesson. ” SankAsuran told KamalAsuran.

KamalAsurn thought to himself, ‘ When Indra himself is afraid of us, this little Brahmin seems quite unafraid. I will take a huge army with me in any case!’

He left with his chaturanga sena to Sundara Ashram. An asareeri warned the rushis of the Ashram that KamalAsuran was invading with his army. Fear prevailed everywhere. MallAlar encouraged them and said, “We will fight his army with our own army!”

Soldiers armed to their teeth appeared out of nothing and from nowhere. Soon a huge army stood in the Sundara Ashram – ready to meet KamalAsuran’s army. As soon as it arrived, the two armies merged like two roaring oceans.
