5#10c. Devi and the minister

The minister spoke again to Devi, “Please agree to become the wife of Mighty Mahishan, I beg of you Devi! If you do not like to have a husband or enjoy the worldly pleasures, why are you born as a woman?”

Devi mocked at him and said, “You are the befitting minister for your mighty king Mahishan! Do I have the qualities associated with my gender? No! Do I have the gender that suits my qualities? No!

I am a woman in my figure and the qualities of a Deva will suit it. I am a man in my qualities which belong to an asuran. So I have the form of a female and the qualities of a male. Mahishan has the form of a man and qualities of woman.

Otherwise would he seek the boon that he could get killed by a woman? Brahma did not bestow the boon on him forcefully. He himself wanted that boon from Brahma.

A blade of grass can act like Vajraayudam by divine grace. A Vajraayudam can become a blade of grass if god’s grace is not there.

His weapons can not harm me. His army cannot win me. Explain all these to your mighty Mahishan. The future happenings will depend on his present decision”

The minister was crestfallen on hearing these words from Devi.

11#1a. சதாசாரம் (1)

சதாசார அனுஷ்டானம் பிரியமானது தேவிக்கு
சாதனம் ஆகும் சதசாரம் தேவி அருளைப் பெற.

புரிய வேண்டும் நித்திய, நைமிதிக்க கர்மங்களை;
புரியும் உதவி இது சஞ்சித விளைவுகளைத் தடுக்க.

ஸ்ருதியுக்த தர்மம் ஸ்ருதி சம்பந்தம் உடையது;
ஸ்ம்ருதியுக்த தர்மம் ஸ்ம்ருதியில் கூறப்படுவது.

ஆசாரம் காரணம் சகல சுப நிகழ்வுகளுக்கும்;
ஆசாரம் காரணம் ஆயள் அபிவிருத்திக்கும்.

ஆசாரம் காரணம் நல்ல சந்ததியினருக்கு;
ஆசாரம் காரணம் நற்குணம், ஞானத்துக்கு.

அனைத்தையும் பெறுவான் ஆசாரம் உள்ளவன்;
அனைவரும் ஒதுக்குவர் ஆசாரம் இழந்தவனை.

ஆசாரத்தின் இரு கண்கள் ஸ்ருதி, ஸ்ம்ருதி;
ஆசாரத்தின் இருதயம் ஆகும் புராணங்கள்.

தர்மம் கூறப்பட்டிருக்கும் இம் மூன்றிலும்!
தர்மம் ஆகாது இம்மூன்றும் முரண் பட்டால்.

பிரமாணம் ஆகும் வேதம் கூறுவதே - ஆகாது
பிரமாணம் வேதத்திலிருந்து மாறுபடும் ஒன்று.

வேதம் கூறாததை ஒதுக்க வேண்டும் - அவை
தோதாக மற்றவற்றில் காணப்பட்ட போதிலும்.

11#1a. SadAchaRA

SadAchAra is the right way of living. Devi is pleased with a person who follows the rules of SadAchAra meticulously. One must perform his nithya and naimitthika karmA without fail. This will curb the bad effects of sanchita karmAs.

Sruti yukata Dharmam is related to the Sruti. Smruti yukta Dharmam is what is stated in Smrutis. SadAchAra bestows many benefits on one who observes it.

It bestows auspiciousness, a long life span, a good lineage, good conduct and pure gnanam to one who follows it sincerely.

One who follows SadAchAra will get everything he desires. One who does not follow sadAchAra will be shunned by everyone.

Sruti and Smruti are the two eyes of SadAchAra. PurANAs form the heart of SadAchAra. Dharma is outlined in all these three.

But if there is a contradiction among what is stated in these three, one must take the VedAs as the pramaNam and not the other two.

Whatever is not stated in the VedAs can be neglected even if they appear in the other two.

#38c. வரம் தருவேன்!

சிந்துவின் கோபத்தின்முன் சிதறி ஓடினர்,
இந்தினும் அவன் தேவர்கள் சமூஹமும்.

விரட்டினான் தேவர்களை தண்டத்தால்;
வீழ்த்தினான் கருடனின் ஒரு சிறகினை!

‘வெல்வது அரிது வரங்கள் பெற்றவனை!
வெல்ல வேண்டும் தந்திரமாக ' என்று.

“வீரம் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தோம் யாம் – நீ
கோரும் வரம் தருவோம் யாம்!” என,

விஷ்ணுவின் கருத்தை அறிந்தான் சிந்து;
விஷ்ணுவைச் சிக்க வைத்தான் வலையில்.

“தேவர்களுடன் வர வேண்டும் என் நகரம்,
தேவைப்படும் பணிகள் செய்ய வேண்டும்!” என,

சிக்கிக் கொண்டனர் வசமாக தேவர்கள்.
சிறை செய்தான் தேவரைச் சிந்து ராஜன்!

“துன்பம் தொடருகிறதே குருதேவா – நாம்
இன்பம் காண்போமா வாழ்வில் மீண்டும்?”

குலகுருவை அணுகினர் தேவர்கள்,
குலகுரு கூறினார் செய்யவேண்டியதை

“சிவன் அளித்த வரங்கள் சிறந்தவை!
சிவனால் அழிய மாட்டான் சிந்துராஜன்.

ஆதி காரணனாகிய ஐங்கர மூர்த்தியே
அழித்திட வல்லவர் சிந்து ராஜனை.

வினாயகரை தியானிப்போம் ஒன்றாக!”
வினயத்துடன் நடந்தது மானசீக பூஜை!

சதுர்த்தி விரதம்வந்தது சிறையில்
எதுவுமே இன்றி மனத்தில் செய்தனர்.

பத்துக் கரங்களோடு காட்சி தந்தார்,
சித்தி, புத்தி தேவியரோடு விநாயகர்.

“சிந்து ராஜனை அழிப்பேன் விரைவில்,
நொந்து போகவேண்டாம் சிறையில்”

#38c. The Boon!

The DEvA dispersed in front of the angry Sindu RAjan. The DEvA were driven away with the daNdam by Sindhu. He chopped off one of the wings of garudan, on which VishNu was seated.

VishNu thought to himself, ‘Sindhu has several boons given by Siva. It is difficult to defeat him. I will resort to a cunning scheme.’ He told Sindhu, “I am very impressed by your valor. I want to give you a boon. What do you want?”

Sindhu could read the thoughts of VishNu clearly. He decided to trap VishNu with his own words. He told VishNu, “I want all the Deva to come to my city and do the menial chores I want to get done”

Now they were caught in the net, with no hope of escaping! After reaching his city he promptly arrested all the DEvA. The DEvA were unhappy imprisoned by Sindhu. They approached their kulaguru Bruhaspati and asked him, “Is there any hope of getting out from here? Will we ever return to our swarggam?”

The guru consoled them and said, “The boons given by Siva have made Sindhu very powerful. Siva will not destroy Sindhu. Brhama and VishNu can not defeat him. The only god who can destroy Sindhu is VinAyaka. Let us all pray to him.” The DEvA all prayed to VinAyaka and did mAnaseeka pooja since they did not have anything needed for a real pooja.

Meanwhile it was chathurti vratham day. DEvA preformed the mAnaseeka pooja as usual. VinAyaka appeared to them with his ten arms and in the company of Siddhi DEvi and Buddhi DEvi.

He told the DEvA, ” Do not worry! I will put an end to Sindhu soon and you will all be released form this prison.”

5#10d. அமைச்சனின் குழப்பம்

வந்த காரியம் நிறைவேறவும் இல்லை – இங்கு
வந்துள்ளவளைக் கொல்லவும் இயலவில்லை.

மயங்கினான் செய்வது அறியாமல் அமைச்சன்;
தயங்கினான் மஹிஷனிடம் திரும்பிச் செல்ல.

'உள்ளனர் மதியமைச்சர்கள் பலர் – அவர்கள்
உள்ளத்தில் தோன்றியபடிச் செய்யட்டும் இனி!'

விரைந்தான் மஹிஷனின் அரண்மனைக்கு,
உரைத்தான் நிகழ்ந்தவைகளை விவரமாக!

“எடுத்துக் கூறினேன் உம் வேண்டுகோளை;
எடுத்துக் கூறினேன் உம் பெருமைகளை.

சிரித்தாள் ஏளனமாக என் மொழி கேட்டு,
‘புரிவதா திருமணம் எருமைக் கடாவுடன்?

எருமைக் கடா இச்சிக்க வேண்டும் வேரொரு
எருமையை, என் போன்ற பெண்ணையல்ல!

பலிகடா ஆவான் அந்த எருமைக் கடா!
பலிக்கும் தேவர்களின் சுவர்க்கக் கனவு!

அழித்து விடுகிறேன் மஹிஷனை விரைந்து ;
அளித்து விடுகிறேன் சுவர்க்கத்தை விரைந்து!

கொன்றிருப்பேன் அந்த அஹங்காரியை.
வென்றிருக்கிறாள் உங்கள் அபிமானத்தை.

விட்டு விட்டேன் அவளை அதை எண்ணி;
விட்டுச் செல்லப் போகின்றீரா சுவர்க்கத்தை?

திரும்பப் போகின்றீர்களா பாதாள உலகம்?
விருப்பம் போலச் செய்யுங்கள் அரசே”.

5#10d. The minister’s confusion

The minister got confused not knowing what to do next. The strange girl would not accept Mahishan’s offer. Nor could he kill her since Mahishan was infatuated with her. He hesitated to go back to Mahishan without accomplishing hs mission but he had very little choice.

He said to himself ,” There are many more ministers besides me. Let them also rake their brains and give suggestions to Mahishan.” So went back to the palace and told Mahishan the happenings.

“I told that strange girl your wishes. I explained to her your greatness. But she laughed at me mockingly. She asked me,’Marry a buffalo faced fellow? A buffalo must marry another buffalo and not a girl like me. He will be sacrificed in the war and the swarggam will be returned to the Deva.’

I could have killed her then and there. But I controlled myself thinking of your love for her. Are you going to quit swarggam and go back to Paatalaa? Do whatever you deem fit oh king!” the minister said.

11#1b. சதாசாரம் (2)

பிரம்ம த்யானம் செய்ய வேண்டும் தினமும்;
பிராணாயாமம் செய்ய வேண்டும் தினமும்.

இடகலையில் உள்ளிழுத்த காற்றை நிறுத்தி
வடகலையில் வெளித்தள்ளி ரேசிக்க வேண்டும்.

தியானிக்க வேண்டும் தேவியை உள்ளத்தில்!
தியானிப்பவன் ஆவான் ஒரு ஜீவன் முக்தன்.

தியானிப்பவனின் இருப்பு தேவியின் இருப்பு;
தியானிப்பவனின் நடை தேவியின் யாத்திரை;

தியானிப்பவனின் புத்தியே தேவியின் சிந்தனை;
தியானிப்பவனின் பேச்சே தேவியின் தோத்திரம்;

"ஸர்வாத்மகமான தேவியின் வடிவு என் வடிவே,
ஸர்வ தேவதைகளின் அர்ச்சனை தேவியுடையதே.

தேவியிடம் இருந்து வேறானவன் அல்ல நான்;
தேவியின் ஸ்வரூபமான பிரம்மம் ஆவேன் நான்;

உறைவிடமில்லை நான் துக்கங்களுக்கு!
உள்ளேன் சத் சித் ஆனந்த ஸ்வரூபமாக! "

பிரகாசிப்பாள் தேவி முதல் பிரயாணத்தில்.
தருவாள் மறு பிரயாணத்தில் அமுதச்சுவை.

ஆனந்த மயமாவாள் நம் இதயப் பிரதேசத்தில்;
தியானிக்க வேண்டும் தேவியைச் சரணடைந்து.

தியானிக்க வேண்டும் நிஜ குருவை பிரமரந்திரத்தில்
தோத்திரம் செய்ய வேண்டும் நிஜ குருவை எண்ணி.

குருவந்தனம் சொல்லாமல் வெளியிடத்துக்கு
ஒருபோதும் செல்லவே கூடாது என்றறிவீர்!

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुरेव परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥१॥

கு3ருர் ப்3ரஹ்மா கு3ருர் விஷ்ணு கு3ருர் தே3வோ மஹேஸ்வர:

கு3ருரேவ பரம் ப்3ரஹ்ம தஸ்மை ஸ்ரீ கு3ரவே நம:

11#1b. SadhAchAra (2)

One must meditate on Brahman every morning. One must perform PrANAyAmam every morning. The air must be inhaled through the left nostril. It must be held inside and exhaled through the right nostril.

One must meditate on Devi without fail. One who meditates on Devi becomes a jeevanmukta. He becomes and extension of Supreme Devi so much so that his travel become Devi's yAtrta, His buddhi becomes Devi's thoughts; His speech becomes Devi's stuti; His form is Devi's form.

The worship offered to different Gods becomes Devi's worship. One must firmly believe that he is not different from Devi.

He must tell to himself,"I am not different from Devi. I am the swaroopam of Devi. I am not a mere mortal afflicted by sorrow. I am the Sath-Cith-Anandha swaroopam"

Devi shines during the journey of the kuNdalini from the moolAdhAra upwards. She showers nectar during the downward journey of the kuNdalini.

In the heart region Devi gives us pure bliss. One must meditate on Devi after surrendering to her unconditionally.

One must meditate on his own guru placing him in Brahmarandram. He must prise his own Guru-the living god. One must not leave the house and go out with out praying to his guru with this mantra

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुरेव परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥

Gurur-BrahmA Gurur-VishNur-GururdevO MahEshvarah |
GururEva Param Brahma Tasmai Shree-Gurave Namah ||

#38d. திரிசந்தி க்ஷேத்ரம்

உருவத்தை யோகத்தால் மறைத்துக் கொண்டு
உமாபதி, அன்னையைத் தியானித்தனர் முனிவர்.

அன்னையும், அண்ணலும் அங்கே
அன்புடன் கட்சி தந்தனர் ஒன்றாக.

“சிந்துராஜனின் கொடுமைகள் கூடுகின்றன;
சிறைப்படுத்தி வாட்டுகிறான் தேவர்களை!

தொல்லை தருகிறான் முனிவர்களுக்கு;
தலைக்கு ஏறிவிட்டது மமதை அவனுக்கு.

தாங்கள் தங்கிவிட வேண்டும் இங்கேயே;
நாங்கள் தங்குவதற்கு அது ஒன்றே வழி!”

இணங்கினான் மஹேசன் தங்கிவிட – சிவ
கணங்கள் நிர்மாணித்தனர் ஓர் ஆலயம்.

இணையாகும் கயிலையங்கிரிக்கு அது!
வணங்கப்படும் ஈசன் யோகநிஷ்டையில்!

தேவிக்கு உதித்தது ஓர் ஐயம் இதனால்,
“தேவாதி தேவா! நீர் தியானிப்பது எவரை?”

“பரம் பொருள் என்று ஒருவன் உள்ளான்;
பிறர் அனைவரையும் தோற்றுவிப்பவன்;

மும்மூர்த்திகளையும் படைத்தவன்;
மூவுலகினரையும் வாழ வைப்பவன்;

சிந்து ராஜனை அழிக்க அவதரிப்பான்;
அந்த பாக்கியம் கிடைக்கும் உனக்கே!

பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் தியானிப்பாய்
பரம்பொருளின் ஏகாக்ஷரத்தை விடாது!”

அன்னை விரும்பினாள் அந்த அறிய பேற்றினை;
சொன்னபடி தியானித்தாள் ஈராறு ஆண்டுகள்!

#38d. Thrisandhi kshEtram

The sages made themselves invisible by their power of yOga and prayed to Lord Siva. Uma and Siva appeared to them. “Sindhu RAjan is becoming more and more arrogant. He had imprisoned all the DEvA. He troubles us rushis also. He has become headstrong. You must stay here lord so that we too can live here peacefully.”

Siva agreed to stay in Thrisandhi kshetram. SivagaNAs built him a temple as magnificent as KailAsh itself. Siva sat in yoga. Uma wondered and asked him,” You are the lord or all the other Gods. Who do you meditate upon?”

Siva replied to Uma, “There is one absolute power who creates everything else. He has created the trimoorthis. He creates the three worlds. He will be born on earth to destroy Sindhu RAjan. You may become his mother if you pray to him chanting the EkAksharam for twelve years.”

DEvi wanted to become the mother of the all powerful God and meditated upon him for twelve long years

5#11a. மந்திராலோசனை

தூது சென்ற அமைச்சன் கூறியதை மஹிஷன்
ஏதும் குறுக்கிடாமல் நன்கு ஊன்றிக் கேட்டான்.

மந்திராலோசனை நடந்தினான் அதன்பின்
மந்திரிகளோடும் வயது முதிர்ந்தவரோடும்.

“வந்துள்ள பெண் தேவர்களின் நலன் விரும்பி!
வந்து விட்டது விந்தைப் பெண் மீது மோஹம்!

ஏசி இழிவாகப் பேசியவளை இன்னமும் நான்
நேசிப்பது விந்தையல்லவா எனக் கூறுங்கள்.

அடக்குவேன் அவளை என் மனைவியாக்கி!
அடக்குவேன் அவளை அனுபவித்த பிறகு!

அடக்கிவிட்டால் அவளை அதற்கும் முன்பே
அடங்கிவிடும் இன்பக் கனவுகளும் அத்துடன்.

எப்படியும் அவளைப் பட்ட மகிஷியாக்குவேன்!
கட்டழகியை கட்டுப் படுத்துவது எங்கனம்?”என,

நன்மதி கொண்ட மஹஷனின் அமைச்சர்
நன்மையே விரும்பினர் தம் மன்னனுக்கு.

நலன் தரும் நீதியை எடுத்துக் கூறினர்
பலன் தரும் அவன் நலனைக் காத்து என.

“கசப்பாக இருக்கும் நாங்கள் கூறுவது
இசைவாக இராது உமக்குக் கேட்பதற்கு!

இன் சொல் சொல்ல விரும்பி உமக்குப்
புன் செயல்கள் புரிய இயலாது எம்மால்!

உடல் நலம் தரும் மருந்து போலவே
உம் நலம் கோருவது கசக்கும் செவிக்கு.

நாவுக்கு நலனும், உடலுக்குக் கேடும் தரும்
நலன் தராத உணவு வகை போல அன்று!”

5#11a. The council of ministers

Mahishan listened to the words spoken by the minister who had just returned from Devi. Then he consulted the other ministers and his elders.

“The woman who has come alone wishes for the welfare of Deva. I have fallen in love with her after hearing about her! How else can I still love her after the way she has insulted me.

I shall wed her and conquer over her. I shall enjoy her and bring her under my control. If I win over her before that, all my dreams will be shattered. Please tell me how to go about this!”

Mahishan’s ministers were very loyal. They wished his welfare more than their good names and smooth relationship with him. They told Mahishan,

“You may find what we are about to say very unpleasant – just the medicines that do good to our body but taste bitter on the tongue.

But we can’t speak sweet words just to please you when we know that they will not do you any good. The food that is bitter helps the body while the food tastes good on the tongue may do harm for the body!”

11#2. சௌசம்

எழ வேண்டும் பிரம்ம முஹூர்த்தத்தில்;
எழ வேண்டும் நான்காவது ஜாம நேரத்தில்.

தொழ வேண்டும் இஷ்டதெய்வத்தை தியானித்து;
தொழ வேண்டும் பரபிரும்மத்தை யோகியானால்.

கொப்பூழுக்குக் கீழே சுத்தம் செய்ய இடது கை;
கொப்பூழுக்கு மேலே சுத்தம் செய்ய வலது கை.

சுத்தம் செய்யவேண்டும் மலஜலம் கழித்தவுடனேயே!
அலட்சியம் செய்தால் செய்யவேண்டும் ஒரு பரிஹாரம்!

அருந்த வேண்டும் தண்ணீர் மட்டுமே மூன்று நாட்கள்;
பெற வேண்டும் மீண்டும் பரிசுத்தம் மந்திர ஜபத்தினால்.

மலம் கழித்தால் கொப்பளிக்க வேண்டும் பன்னிரு முறை;
ஜலம் கழித்தால் கொப்பளிக்க வேண்டும் நான்கு முறை.

தந்த சுத்தி செய்ய வேண்டிய காலங்கள் இவை;
சந்தியா காலம், ஜப காலம், போஜன வேளை,

தேவ பித்ரு கர்மங்கள் செய்யும் காலம், மத்திய காலம் - சம்
போகம், யாகம், தானம், யக்ஞம் இவைகள் செய்யும் காலம்.

செய்யக் கூடாது தந்த சுத்தி மல, ஜலம் கழிக்கையில்;
செய்யக் கூடாது நின்று கொண்டும், நடந்து கொண்டும்.

11# 2. Soucham

One must get out of the bed in the fourth jAmam or the Brahma muhoortam. One must pray to his ishta daivam. If he happens to be yogi, he must pray to the ParamAtma.

The left hand must be used to clean the body parts below the navel and the right hand must be used to clean the body parts above the navel.

After urinating and defecating one must get cleaned up immediately. Delaying the cleaning will have to be set right by a parihAram. He must drink only water for three days and also purify himself with manta japam.

After defecating one must wash the mouth by gargling twelve times. After urinating he must wash the mouth and gargle four times.

Teeth must be cleaned during SandhyA kAlam, japa kAlam, Bhojana kAlam, the time of performing the Deva karmAs or Pitru karmAS, madhyama kAlam, after indulgence in sex and at the time of performing dAnam, YAgam and Yagnam.

Teeth should not be cleaned while defecating or urinating. Teeth must not be cleaned while walking or standing.

#38e. கணேசர்

மயூரேச விநாயகர் ஆலயத்தில் உமை
தியானித்தாள் ஏகாக்ஷர மந்திரத்தை.

பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் உருண்டோடின;
பரம்பொருள் காட்சி தந்தார் அன்னைக்கு.

மும்மூர்த்திகளின் முகங்களுடன், கரங்கள்
மூவிரண்டுடன், ரிஷப வாஹனத்தில் ஏறி!

“சிறையில் வாடும் இந்திராதி தேவர்களை
சிறை விடுவித்துச் சுவர்க்கம் சேர்க்கவும்;

சிந்து ராஜனை சம்ஹாரம் செய்திடவும்
வந்து தோன்றுவேன் கணேச குமாரனாக”

விநாயக சதுர்த்தி பூஜையில் தோன்றினார்
விஸ்வரூப விநாயகர் ஜோதி வடிவமாக!

கோடிசூர்யப் பிரகாசத்தைக் காண இயலாது
மூடிக் கொண்டு விட்டாள் கண்களை தேவி.

‘திருமகனாகிக் குழந்தையாகித் தாங்கள்
வரவேண்டும் தரிசனம் தர வேண்டும்”என

விடுத்தார் ஜோதிமயமான விஸ்வரூபத்தை;
எடுத்தார் அழகிய பாலகனின் வடிவத்தை!

மூன்று கண்களும், மூவிரண்டு கரங்களும்,
முத்துமாலை குலுங்கும் மார்பையும் கண்டு;

வாரி எடுத்து அணைத்தாள் உமை மார்போடு!
ஊறி வந்த பாலை ஊட்டினாள் தாயன்போடு!

வலது கண்ணும், வலது தோளும் துடித்து
வளர்த்தன மகிழ்ச்சியை தேவர்களுக்கு!

இடது கண்ணும், இடது தோளும் துடித்து
இடர் விளைவித்தன சிந்து ராஜனுக்கு!

BHAARGAVA PURAANAM - PART 2

#38e. GanEsha

Uma DEvi sat in the temple of MayoorEsa VinAyaka and chanted EkAksharam for twelve long years. VinAyaka appeared to DEvi with the three faces of the trimoortis and six arms on the Nandhi vAhanam and said, “I will be born on earth as GanEsha to destroy Sindhu RAjan and free the suffering DEvA from his prison ”

During the VinAyaka Chathurti pooja, God appeared as Viswaroopa VinAyaka in the form of a brilliant light. He was more brilliant than ten million Suns shining together. DEvi closed her eyes – unable to bear the brilliance. She prayed to him, “Please come to me as a small child”

VinAyaka took the form of a small child. He had three eyes and six arms. He wore pearl strings on his chest. Uma embraced this lovely child and gave him her milk. The DEvA felt happy since their right eyes and right shoulders twitched as a good omen. Sindhu RAjan felt upset since his left eye and left shoulder twitched as a bad omen.

5#11b. விரூபாக்ஷன்

“தனித் தனியாகக் கூறுங்கள் கருத்தினை!
இணைத்துப் பார்த்து முடிவு செய்கின்றேன்.”

கூறினான் மஹிஷன் தன் அமைச்சர்களிடம்,
கூறினர் தம் கருத்துக்களை ஒவ்வொருவராக.

விரூபாக்ஷன் அமைச்சன் முடிவு செய்தான்,
‘விரும்பும் வண்ணம் பேசி மகிழ்விப்பேன்!’

“அஹங்காரி ஒருத்தி வந்துள்ளாள் இங்கு!
அலக்ஷியம் செய்கின்றாள் நம் மன்னனை!

மூவுலகையும் வென்ற மாவீரன் மஹிஷன்
கேவலம் பெண்ணை எண்ணிக் கலங்குவதா?

அடக்கிட நான் ஒருவனே போதுமே அவளை
மடக்கி இழுத்து வருவேன் மஹிஷியாக்கிட!

கெஞ்சினால் மிஞ்சுவார்கள் பெண்கள்;
மிஞ்சினால் கெஞ்சுவார்கள் பெண்கள்.

இழுத்து வருகிறேன் நாகபாசத்தில் கட்டி;
கழுத்தில் நாண் அணிவித்து மணப்பீர்!”

துர்த்தரன் எழுந்தான் அடுத்ததாகப் பேசிட;
துர்போதனைகள் செய்தான் தன் பங்குக்கு.

“ஆண் குணம் கொண்ட பெண்களிடம்
அதிகக் காமம் நிறைந்திருக்கும் மன்னா!

போருக்கு வந்திருந்தால் அவள் படை எங்கே?
பேருக்குக் கூறுகின்றாள் போருக்கு வந்ததாக!

வந்துள்ளாள் உன்னை வசப்படுத்திக் கொள்ள!
வந்தவள் பேச்சும் உறுதி செய்கிறது அதனை!

போர் புரியாமலேயே வெற்றி கொள்வாள் – உம்
பார் புகழும் தீரத்தைத் தனது அழகால் உறிஞ்சி!”

5#11b. Viroopaakshan

Mahishan told his ministers, “Please give your individual opinions. I shall consider them all and come to a decision.” A minister named Viroopaakshan thought to himself,” I will talk in a pleasing manner to my king Mahishan.

He said,” A proud woman has come here. She insults our king fearlessly. Why should a brave king who has conquered all the three worlds worry about a frail woman? I myself can bring her to you tied in my Naaga paasam and make her your wife. These women are weird. If you beg of them they will taunt you. If you taunt them they will beg of you.”

Durdaran was the next minister to talk. He added evil thoughts in his opinions appropriate to his name. “That woman proclaims to have a man’s qualities. Such women would be filled with lust.

She claims to have come here to fight with us but she has come without an army. She has come her to infatuate you with her rare beauty. She won’t come alone for a war. She will win over you without waging a war just by using her beauty.”

11# 3. ஸ்நானம் (1)

மலங்கள் நிறைந்தது மனித உடல் - இதில்
மலங்கள் உள்ளன ஒன்பது துவாரங்களிலும்.

புணரக் கூடாத பெண்ணைப் புணர்ந்த பாவம்;
தானம் பெறுவதனால் வந்து சேர்ந்த பாவம்;

ரஹசியச் செயல்களால் விளைந்த பாவம்,
அதிசயமாக ஸ்நானத்தால் அழிந்து போகும்!

பயனற்றவை குளிக்காமல் செய்கின்றவை;
பயன் தரும் விடியலில் செய்யும் ஸ்நானம்.

கிடைக்காது காயத்ரீ ஜப பலன்கள் - தினம்
விடியலில் குளிக்காமல் இருப்பவனுக்கு!

அக்னி ஹோத்திரக் காலத்தைத் தவற விட்டால்
கிடைக்காது இம்மையிலும், மறுமையிலும் பலன்!

காதுகளில் வசிக்கின்றனர் அக்னி, வருணன்,
சந்திரன், சூரியன், தேவர்கள், வாயு தேவன்.

சுத்தம் ஆகிவிடுவோம் வலது காதைத் தொட்டால்
பொய் சொல்லும் போதும், எச்சில் உமிழும் போதும்!

தூய ஆடைகள் அணிய வேண்டும் - அதன்பின்
தரிக்க வேண்டும் விபூதியை, ருத்திராக்ஷத்தை.

அணிய வேண்டும் மந்திரங்களை உச்சரித்து
அந்தணர்கள் ருத்திராக்ஷத்தைத் தம் உடலில்.

11#3a. SnAnam

The human body is oozes filth from all the nine pores. The sin of copulating with a woman not worthy of that act; the sin accrued by accepting a dAnam; the sin accumulated by the clandestine activities are all removed completely by a purifying bath.

One who does not bathe early in the morning does not reap the benefits of his GAyatreejapam. If one misses the time of performing the agnihotram, he will not get its benefit either in this life or in the next.

Agni, VaruNa, the Sun, the Moon, the DevAs and Vayu all live in our ears. Touching one's right ear purifies a man when he utters a lie or spits his saliva.

After taking bath one must wear clean clothes. He must wear vibhooti and RudrAksham. All the brahmins must wear the RudrAksham uttering the mantrAs which go with them.

#39a. பாலலீலைகள் (1)

விபரீத சகுனங்கள் விளைவித்தன அச்சத்தை!
வீரரை அனுப்பினான் விந்தையை அறிந்துவர.

சகல உலகங்களையும் சுற்றி வந்தனர் வீரர்கள்;
சகல செய்திகளையும் கூறினார் சிந்துராஜனுக்கு.

“திரிசந்தி க்ஷேத்திரத்தில் விந்தை நிகழ்ந்தது!
திரிநேத்திரன் பார்வதியோடு தங்கியுள்ளான்.

விரதம் அனுஷ்டித்தாளாம் பார்வதி தேவி;
வித்தியாசமான ஆண் மகவு கிடைத்ததாம்.

மூன்று கண்கள், மூவிரண்டு கரங்களுடன்!
முனிவர்கள் பணிகின்றனராம் கணேசனை!”

கலங்கியது மனம் கணேசன் என்றதுமே;
துலங்கியது உண்மை கணேசன் யாரெனெ.

‘வரங்கள் அளிக்கையில் பிரான் கூறினார்
வரும் அழிவு கணேசரால் மட்டுமே என!”

அசரீரி ஒன்று கேட்டது ஆகாயத்திலிருந்து.
“அழிக்கப் பிறந்துவிட்டான் உன்னை ஒருவன்!

திரிசந்தியில் வளரும் கணேச குமாரன்
திரிலோக அதிபதி உன்னை அழிப்பான்!”

துடித்தது மீசை; வெடித்தது வெஞ்சினம்;
“பொடிப் பயலைக் கொல்வேன் இப்போதே!”

“பச்சிளம் பாலகனிடம் அச்சமா அரசே?
இச்சகத்தில் உம்மை அழிக்க ஒருவனா?”

சிறு பிள்ளை செய்ய முடியுமா இதை?
ஒரு வார்த்தை கூறுங்கள் எங்களிடம்!

காலால் தாங்கள் இட்ட வேலைகளைத்
தலையால் செய்யக் காத்திருக்கின்றோம்!”

அமைச்சர், பிரதானிகளின் சொற்கேட்டு
அமைதி அடைந்தான் சிந்துராஜன் அன்று.

#39a. BAla leelA (1)

The bad omen caused fear in the mind of Sindhu RAjan. He sent out his messengers to find out any rare event that had occurred in the world. The messengers traveled far and wide and reported back to Sindhu RAjan.

“A rare event has occurred in Trisandhi kshetram. Lord Siva is staying there with PArvathi Devi. DEvi did penance and observed a vratham. Now she has an unusual son with three eyes and six arms. The rushis worship this child as GanEsha.” Sindhu RAjan now realized who that GanEsha was.

While giving him the boons, Lord Siva had told him that only GanEsha will be capable of destroying Sinshu RAjan. At the same time an asareeri spoke these words, “A boy has been born to destroy you. He grows in Trisandhi khetram as GanEsha!” Sindhu RAjan became uncontrollably angry and swore that he
would kill the child then and there.

His ministers asked him, “Are you afraid of a new born child oh king? Can anyone in this world harm you in anyway? Can a new born baby do it? We are all here to obey your comands to the letter. No harm can ever befall you.”

Sindhu RAjan felt consoled on hearing these reassuring words.

5#11c. துர்த்தரன்

“பாணம் என்பது அவள் கடைக் கண் பார்வை!
போர் என்பது இருவரின் காமப் போராட்டம்!

‘பிராணனை வாங்க வந்தேன்!’ என்கின்றாள்.
பிராணன் என்பது உமது வீரிய சக்தியாகும்.

‘என்னைக் கண்டதும் வெளிப்படும் வீரியம்;
என்ன சொன்னாலும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வான்!’

ஏழை தேவர்களின் குறைகளைக் கூறித்
தோழமை கருதி நன்மை செய்வாளோ?

‘வரவில்லை என் வரவை அறிந்த பின்னும்!
வரவில்லை என் அழகைக் கேட்ட பின்னும்!’

இந்தக் கோபத்தினால் சொன்ன சொல் தான்
‘அந்த எருமைக் கடா அங்கே இருக்கின்றான்!’

குறிப்பறிந்து உம்மைத் தன்னிடம் அனுப்பாத
வெறுப்பினால் அமைச்சனை மாடு என்றாள்.

வெளிப்படையாகக் கூறார் பெண்கள் அன்பை;
வெளிப்படுத்துவர் விருப்பத்தை ஜாடையாக!

புரியவில்லை இது தூது போன அமைச்சனுக்கு.
அறியவில்லை அவன் காமலீலைகளைப் பற்றி.

‘சாம, தான, பேதங்களால் அழைத்து வருவேன்
சமர்பிக்கின்றேன் அவளை உமக்கு’ என்கிறான்!

மன்மத லீலைகளால் அவளை மயக்கி விட்டால்
சொன்ன சொல் கேட்கும் பாவை ஆகி விடுவாள்.

வீண் பேச்சு எதற்காக நமக்குள் இப்போது?
விரைந்து செல்வேன் அவளிடம் இப்போது!”

ஆலோசனைகள் கூறினான் மஹிஷனுக்கு
அமைச்சன் துர்த்தரன் இங்ஙனம் விரிவாக.

5 #11c. Durdaran

Minister Durdaran gave his own interpretations to the words spoken by Devi.

“Arrow is the sidelong glances cast by a woman. War is the war of love between a man and a woman. “I have come here to take your life!” means she wants to steal your life force or your tejas and potency.

She thinks,’ Surely Mahishan will be infatuated with me and do whatever I command him to do.’ May be she wants to melt your heart and get some favors for her friends the wretched Deva.

She is angry with you since you have not gone to her ever after knowing about her arrival here and hearing about her rare beauty from your messengers. That is why she called you a ‘buffalo faced man.’

The minister did not send you to her and she called him a bull since she was annoyed with him. Women never speak out their desires or love. They will give random hints and it is for the man to understand and act according to them.

The minister you have sent to her does not know the finesses in the art of love. He offers to bring her to here by saama or daanam or bedham. If only you can win over her by your powers and prowess, she will
become lamb from lioness.

Why should I waste more time in talking about her? I shall go to her and fetch her here now!”
