A Temple for Modi but Modi has exprssed shock over constructing a temple in his name .
Temple dedicated to Modi 'shocks' him

http://www.thehindu.com/news/nation...i-shocks-him/article6885629.ece?homepage=true

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday morning urged people not to build temples in his name. Referring to media reports of an idol of his being installed in a temple in Rajkot, Gujarat, Mr. Modi tweeted: "Have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking & against India's great tradition."

In a second tweet, he said: "Building such temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally it made me very sad. Would urge those doing it not to do it."

Mr. Modi's idol is to be installed on Sunday. The temple is not new. It was built in 2006 and people till now had been worshipping photographs of Mr. Modi and an icon of Bharat Mata.

Mr. Modi's intervention comes in the wake of the criticism he had invited upon himself for donning a suit with his name embroidered all over it during the U. S. presidential visit last month. Many of his most ardent bhakts (fans) had found themselves at a loss for words in defending what his critics described as "megalomaniac" and "narcissist" tendencies.

Mr. Modi is not the first politician with a temple built in his name. In June last year – soon after the Lok Sabha elections — a temple was constructed in Mallial town of Karimnagar in Telangana in the name of Congress president Sonia Gandhi by the local unit as a mark of gratitude for the creation of the separate State.

I feel BJP will bounce back...AK was a difficult nut to crack...Now that he is the saddle, he will get exposed with full powers...Any single mistake of him will boomerang on him..In politics patience pays!

Yes but also you must be realistic in understanding the mood of the people and not take the people for granted . Each State and each election is different . Today's public are more assertive and you cant take their support for granted and the same applies to Kejriwal . If he does his road side tamasha again then people will beat him with the same broom with which they beat Modi and Amit Shah .

Another funny take! I think media is having the last laugh by poking fun at the Modi-Amit duo

Welcome development on account of AAP!

[h=2]ADR analysis finds no legislator with ‘heinous’ criminal charges[/h]
The capital’s new legislative assembly has no MLAs charged with ‘heinous’ criminal offences, the Association for Democratic Reforms’ analysis of their electoral affidavits has found.
However, over one out of three MLAs has been charged with other criminal offences, including Delhi’s incoming Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has 10 charges of rioting, defamation and unlawful assembly against him. This is the lowest number of MLAs charged with criminal offences since 2008, the first election in Delhi for which candidates had to declare criminal offences in their affidavits.
Candidates with criminal charges are still more likely to win election than those without, ADR’s data shows; one out of five candidates with a criminal record won, while less than one out of 10 candidates with a ‘clean’ record won. The new assembly will also have the fewest members with assets over Rs. 1 crore among the last three assemblies. Since December 2013, the assets of the 21 AAP MLAs who were re-elected grew by just 4 per cent.
Yet nearly two of three MLAs have assets of over Rs. 1 crore, and the richest MLA, Parmila Tokas of the AAP from R.K. Puram has over Rs. 87 crore in assets. In all, 11 MLAs including her have assets of more than Rs. 10 crore.
The new House also has more educated MLAs than before; 24 MLAs have not studied past Class XII, while 43 are graduates and above; 47 MLAs are under the age of 50. The number of women MLAs has doubled since 2013, but is still less than 10 per cent of the Assembly’s strength.

Delhi gets ?cleaner? crop of MLAs - The Hindu

Sorry for Amit Shah for whom party is every thing! Not even his sons marriage which took place on the day of counting Delhi election votes!

Parents, don't hold wedding on result day

RADHIKA RAMASESHAN

Amit Shah was so "mortified" by the scale of the BJP's Delhi debacle that he barely smiled, seldom spoke, cut out the ceremonial fripperies and did away with the music and the firecrackers, said guests who went for his son Jay's wedding in Ahmedabad yesterday.

The BJP president was so preoccupied with the election results that, on the sidelines of the celebrations, he even went into a huddle with some BJP guests who had flown in from Delhi.

Parents, don't hold wedding on result day

The new assembly will also have the fewest members with assets over Rs. 1 crore among the last three assemblies.

Will have to see at the end of the 5 year term the asset value of these members .

Parents, don't hold wedding on result day

Might be some astrologer would have told that BJP would come with a thumping win on that day and so better to have his son's wedding and have double celebration . Feel sorry for his son as he would be never able to forget that the brighest day in his life turned to the darkest day in the life of him and his father .
One more lesson for BJP - facing wrath of the opposition is one thing but facing the wrath of one's own cadres is too severe to be ignored . No more outsourcing of leaders please .

One More thing .Modi got elected as PM with an excellent Majority only on the Development Plank based on the Gujarat Model and we need to only hear news regularly on what is being done in that area and it is high time he issues a strict orders to all the hardcore hindutva elements to stop talking nonsense that diverts attention from the main issue for which he got elected in the first place .

I was not a MOdi fan, but I want Modi to succeed for India. I too wish that he will revert back to development.

in fact, if Modi accepts Kejriwal's invitation to attend and attend his swearing ceremony on 14th Jan., it will enhance Modi's reputation and standing - srinivasan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long tour of Maharashtra today (14.2.2015) during which he will attend a number of programmes and also address a farmers' rally in Baramati, the home turf of Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar and his family. Besides addressing the rally, he will take part in a number of programmes in Pune, Mumbai and Baramati.During the visit Modi would also be visiting the residence of Pawar for lunch. Since these were scheduled long before the swearingin ceremony was fixed, it may not be possible for Modi to cancel them.

The Kejriwal hug and the Modi hug

Kejriwal hugs his wife after election victory

attachment.php

When Arvind Kejriwal embraced his wife in public, after his historic win on Tuesday (10 Feb 2015), he ushered in a new type of Indian politician: one who has no qualms about sharing the limelight with his wife.

Arvind Kejriwal is rewriting the rules of governance in India, by rejecting the brahmachari way of life that most Indian politicians seem to revere. Indian politicians have mostly projected themselves as phlegmatic, solitary individuals who selflessly devote their lives to serving the country. Even if they are married, their partners rarely make public appearances—and if they do (usually prompted by protocol), there is almost never any physical display of affection.

“This is my wife,” Kejriwal said after his victory, while affectionately putting his arms around his spouse Sunita Kejriwal, who greeted the supporters and journalists with folded hands. “She never appears in front of the public…Today, I have forced her to come here.”

“I would have been incapable of all the hard work I have put in, had it not been for her support,” Kejriwal said.

With this gesture, the AAP leader has endeared himself to millions of Delhi’s women—a crucial vote bank as nearly six million women voted in the capital last week.

The other hug

The Kejriwal hug is even more remarkable because last year India voted for a prime minister who for decades did not acknowledge the existence of his wife. Narendra Modi publicly disclosed his marriage for the first time while filing his election papers in April last year.

Last month, Modi embraced US president Barack Obama when he arrived in New Delhi. Images of the hug were shared and re-tweeted across the world, its import discussed and dissected in countless newspaper newsrooms and TV studios.

But the Kejriwal hug is just as important. With that one embrace, the next chief minister of Delhi has declared himself as a common man.

Why Kejriwal embracing his wife is as important as the Modi-Obama hug ? Quartz

excellent points made by chetan bhagat.

Great post Brahmanyanji.

I particularly liked this para:

Shut up regressive Hindutva fanatics. They talk. You ignore. They are your supporters. You have to tell them loud and clear this is not OK. The young generation doesn’t find it cool to support a leader who doesn’t believe in a free and equal society. Send some of your old-fashioned partymen abroad to learn about gender issues and minority rights. They will make you sink otherwise.

by embracing his wife in public , kejriwal is sending a wrong message to lower and middle class of delhi

now delhi men will embrace their women more in public and behave differently home.

embracing women in public will make saffron fellows see red .

they would be grating their teeth and wait for a chance to hit back

kejriwal is presenting a wrong picture of common man.

common man is worried about roti kapda makaan, and cost of utilities.

he is not enthusiastic to hug their women in public in lieu of that

By embracing his wife in public, Kejriwal is sending the very right message to the delhiites. This woman who is none other than his wife and who never appeared in front of the public was embraced by him in recognition of her support.

It is time to celebrate the victory, the hard earned victory
for which there are other women who have also played a vital role.

One women, who is the Chief Minister of West Bengal had requested all the Delhiities to vote for AAP for greater need of the country and development of Delhi

One woman has proved that she ‘too clean for politics’.

Let the common man celebrate the victory and wait to see Kejriwal delivering the moon.

Let us see how Kejriwal takes position of maintaining the law and order situation at the capital after taking stock of the situation. Hope he will steer Delhi to greater heights during his tenure.

The AAP’s economic agenda smacks of populism, not hard core development. One hopes that it realises soon enough that it is no God to give free goods and services to the people. It must backtrack from its populist promises made during the campaign that are bound to not be fulfilled. What the poor in Delhi need is not free water but the availability of such services at a reasonable price. People will know before too long that their promises of free services invariably mean “no services”.

We hope that AAP discovers that a sharp and sustained focus on improving governance is the best way to ensure a better quality of life for everyone in Delhi. It should work constructively with the BJP at the Centre on this point and the aspiration of Delhiites that their city becomes a Singapore may soon be within reach. This provided that the BJP Prime Minister and the AAP Chief Minister work together in a win-win mode. Modi for PM and Arvind Kejriwal for CM will then no longer be a mere slogan. Both the BJP and the AAP would do well to envision what they would like Delhi to look like five years from now and build a win-win development partnership for this purpose.

Free services can end up as ?no services? - The Hindu

AAPs vision for delhi is nothing much to talk about.

It is primarily sops for the poor -free water, halving electricity charges, curbing corruption, improving safety of women.

reducing police harassment of poor people and harassment of traders by tax officials.Govt has no control over police

or DDA , the land development and building authority . Even if they do this, it is good for delhi.

anything more than this is bonus. It is just govt for the poor. Higher classes are the least bothered . They have no

expectations of them.

It is highly unlikely that BJP and AAP will work smoothly together.

Even if this govt lasts two years it would be surprising.

Te disenchantment will set in fast as these AAP fellows have no experience of govt and will only blunder repeatedly

BJP will not let them function also. let us see when AK resigns again
