Dear RR ji,
I dont like Avaiyal either even though it taste fairly good but it is not pleasing to the eye..it reminds me of partially digested contents regurgitate!LOL(really it has that look)
Doctor Mam,
Wish that whenever I see Avial in future, let this description don’t come to my mind.
Dear Sir,
On Autopsy..partially digested gut contents does look like Avaiyal!LOL[/QUOTE

Mam,
I have seen Post Mortem Reports and samples of viscera contents. Does viscera differ from what you say?

Dear Sir,
You must do an autopsy on a dead body that had just had his meal and check out the stomach contents.I does look very much the same.
May be the samples you had seen was not partially digested it was already digested and had moved from stomach to intestine..then it does not look like Avaiyal!
We Indians tend to pay very less attention on how our food looks on plate.
It is very important for a meal to look "beautiful" to the eye.
I remember when I was young..whenever my mum made Saag from Palak I would never eat it cos its all thick green liquid..not a very pretty sight.
That way Chinese cooks know how to decorate their vegetable dishes well.
Even when I cook I make sure even a simple cucumber I would do some design before I cut it and also garnish and decorate the plate with some lovely shaped fruits and vegetables.
My mum feels its a waste of time to decorate a plate of food but I like doing that..some simple vegetable carving makes a plate look beautiful and I also love to fold table napkins into lotus flowers. All these add up yaar..

Mam,
I can understand more attention paid by cooks to ensure that dishes are month watering, delicious, tasty etc.
It seems, it is also equally important that the dish should also give a nice look, I mean pleasing to the eyes, colorful.
Have seen in cooking competitions, the participants paying equal attention for taste and finish.
Regards

Dear RR ji,
How do we know when we have been hanging around forum too much?
Ok..today when I was driving to work..I saw a small car with a U shaped bonnet and the car bonnet had 2 white vertical lines and a red line in the center.
Since the bonnet was U shaped..the 2 vertical white lines looked as if it was forming a U and with the red line in the middle..immediately this thought came to my mind...VADAKALAI!
Then after that I thought "OMG I am spending too much time in forum!"LOL

I know Renu! That is why I wanted to 'rub off' whatever I read in one of your descriptive posts!
BTW, one senior member who was at the beet-sweet-meet is fond of 'aviyal' and I have promised him
'adai' + 'aviyal' the next time he visits Ram and me! :hungry:
Doctor Mam,
I know pretty well how busy a Doctor will be in his/herprofession. Time management for such professionalis a very important factor.
Whenever there is a query, there will be prompt responsefrom you. I used to wonder how you findtime to spare for such activities which are certainly secondary when comparedto your dear profession.
IMO, it is an undeniable fact that you do involve and contributea lot to this Forum and thus inspire us.
Keep it up Mam.
Regards.
:nono: Renu! One combination in small quantity! That is all!hey how come everyone loves to eat so much yaar? ...........

Dear RR ji,
Medical terms for diseases usually compares stuff with food.
For example..In a patient with Intussusception of the Intestine the stools are red and mucus filled and called Red Current Jelly Stools.
When a person has Pericarditis and there is pus collection between the layers of the heart..it is called Bread and Butter Pericarditis cos the pus in between 2 layers looks like bread and butter.
Then when a person with Pulmonary Edema coughs up a pink frothy sputum it is called Strawberry Milk Shake Sputum.
When the liver is congested..it is called Nutmeg Liver.
Cysts in women becos of retrograde menstruation(stagnant old blood) is called Chocolate Cyst.
So anyone want to have a Strawberry Milk shake..topped with grated nutmeg and chocolate shavings and a toast of bread and butter and some red currant jelly??

As a rule of thumb, Ambis do not eat Sashimi. Hummus (chickpeas) and potatoes is literally a deadly combo!
