unless Tamilnadu comes out of fascination for filmstars in politics, it has no future.

our electoral system does not provide for state funding of elections .

when money is a requirement , how can politicians manage unless they get it from corporates for a consideration or other illegal means which the tamil leaders had resorted

to while in power .

most politicians cover their tracks . she did not probably have good legal and finance brains to assist her .

there are many in north who have amassed hundred of crores and are roaming scot free.

this politician in south was probably foolishly led into this path by stupid elements.

one could do with some intelligence while getting into such muddles

I am no fan of any politician to be supporting JJ but I feel Dr Subramaniam Swamy is back stabber.

Once upon a time he was hailing Sonia Gandhi, Mamta Banerjee and Jayalalitha as Durga,Lakshmi and Saraswati and today it was Swamy's complain that finally got his former Tri Devi arrested on Navaratri.

He is not a person to be trusted..seems to sway where power is.

The law is there to convict the guilty but it does not give us the right to rejoice at the downfall of another.

All one can feel that if a person is found guilty..justice is served and it stops there.

JJ is convicted because of her own doing. There are many corrupt politician and apparently she is one of them at least in the view of this special court.

Swamy is the one that filed the initial law suit in 1996 - why should be that called stabbing?

It is legitimate to ask why JJ made money.

It is not that Swamy or anyone has to prosecute every person but if they have reasons to believe there is corruption it is nice that the Indian laws allow for someone to file a law suit.

Let the AIADMK cadres pay the fine of Rs100 Crore for their Amma . In Captain TV yesterday night one ex Congress Politician Tiruchy Veluswamy said that the true colors of the AIADMK senior party members would be revealed in the following weeks as there is nothing much left Politically for Jayalalitha and they would all start jumping sides from this sinking ship and the Centre will make all its efforts to book other senior ministers in Corruption cases and keep on sending one by one to Jail .

I dont think AIADMK leadership will care for JJ if she is viewed as weak.

The best thing that can come out of this whole episode is that there be more bold actions in other parts of the India.
JJ will not look bad if there are 10 more convictions of high profile and corrupt 'leaders'

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who has been convicted in the disproportionate assets case, has been allotted the VVIP Cell number 23 in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara. She has been given prisoner number 7402.

Sources said the cell is located next to the women’s barrack. Jail authorities said the occupant was entitled to a bed, fan and separate bathroom facility. Ms Jayalalithaa was provided with a white sari as a convict.

Her dinner included a Ragi ball, 200 grams of rice and two chapathis. However, she refused dinner and sought fruits instead.

Others convicted in the case Sasikala, Ilavarsi and Sudhakaran were given prisoner numbers 7403 and 7404 and 7405 respectively. While Sasikala and Ilavarasi were assigned a cell, where Subha, convicted in the murder of a software engineer, is lodged, Sudhakaran was put up in a VIP cell next to former Karnataka Tourism Minister and mining baron G Janardhana Reddy, the officials said.

Sources said that Ms. Jayalalitha was subjected to medical examination in the prison premises as part of admission procedure. She was also explained the procedure of the prison rules. Since Ms. Jayalalitha complained of multiple ailments the prison authorities have assured necessary medical help.

Sources said that Ms Jayalalithaa will be the first occupant of the VVIP cell in the high security Central Prison. The Central Prison has two VVIP prisons cells that are categorised as high security zones while the prison also has five VIP cells that have been used to lodge former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, former Ministers, G. Janardhan Reddy and S.N. Krishnaiah Setty.

I think you are not aware of how Dr.Swami gives jitters to people in power .
In 1989 when Karunanidhi was the TN CM ,he sarcastically asked who is Dr.Swamy ? and within a few months Dr.Swamy got his govt dismissed over the LTTE issue ( Karunanidhi was flirting with the LTTE at that time ) .In 1990 on the Corridors of Parliament Vaiko then a DMK MP and a staunch LTTE Supporter who made a secret trip to LTTE jungles in Jaffna told mockingly at Dr.Swamy that Thambi ( meaning LTTE leader Prabharan ) has fixed him ( i.e ordered his killing ) and a hit squad is on his way and Swamy replied back telling inform your Thambi that I too have fixed him and we will see who wins and Dr.Swamy had the last laugh when LTTE was wiped out in May 2009 and Vaiko was depressed to see the naked body of its leader Prabhakaran paraded openly near the Nadhikadal lagoon .Dr.Swamy was a big critic of the LTTE right from the beginning and he was the one person who single handedly fought for its ban both in India and abroad and slowly started tightening the screws on its neck ) Politically and diplomatically ) from all sides till it got wiped out in May 2009 .
So Swamy had the last laugh and now the same happend in JJ case .These are just few samples .

.It was due to Dr.Swamy's purusit that 2G Scam came out now to be monitored in the Supreme court .Dr.Swamy is not a saint but he knows how to pay back corrupt and anti-national people in their own coin

our justice system can only punish some based on archaic laws after 18 years

it has no way of rewarding do gooders .

if all the good one lady has done to tamilnadu are counted, she needs to be worshipped , not thrown into jail.

political leaders specially those who are heads of govt in states or centre should be given immunity as long as they are in power .

they are there on will of the people and deserve not to be disturbed for public good.

even Richard Nixon got presidential pardon in US for wrong doing.

why not our leaders.?

a single judge of Allahabad high court dethroned a popular PM on a minor corruption case and country paid a price in terms of constitution getting subverted and emergency

being clamped.

our laws require a change.

one does not imprison a national leader as a common criminal for deed done more than 18 years back

and deny tamilnadu a good leader who has given decent governance

Most unfortunate. Why a hard working and efficient person who is trying to do so much of good to the common people some times have to suffer ? The answer is in his/her past actions.

Do you think Swamy is the only Indian citizen to lodge case against all corrupt politicians?

In the 70s he was in Jan Sangh. During emergency, he run away to US.

During 1998, he supported JJ and won Madurai constituency. He thought he would be given Finance Portfolio to dispose off the cases against JJ, but was denied. He advised JJ to vote against Vajpayee Govt. in order to induct Congress Govt. It was backfired.

He formed a political party with very little mass appeal.

He is too independent and will shine as a lone wolf; modi perhaps know this well and did not include him in his ministry. Confining swamy to a position or post or ministry will cramp his style.

Without knowing many details all I understand is that he is the one who filed a case against her in 1996.
I am sure the media chose to not publicize but many knew the judgement is coming in September (perhaps even the date was known).
He could tweet hoping for a conviction without knowing what will happen. I am not able to understand the stabbing aspects here. He does not owe anything to her and after all he filed the case (and so him hoping for a conviction cannot be faulted).

If he is dreaming to be CM so what? Many do and it is a speculation anyway. In the end people of the state have to decide.
