I am being BLAMED and BLESSED for the same thing!!!
Blessed!!! :decision: Bashed!!!

Thank you Sir! if you really think so! :pray2:

I hope and pray to remain myself as I am now,

and NEVER FEEL CONCEITED thinking that :nono:

I am upholding single handedly something

as big, as widespread and as heavy as

our Forum with 20,000+ members. :grouphug:

May I add that your own contribution has been central in dismantling such myths!

How on earth can 1 out of 21534 members can make all "important heads" quit??? :bolt:Their scheme backfired! :boom:They lost their case and were shown their right place. :tape:It was too much to them since they thought the forum will collapse without their valuable (voluminous) contribution. It was also proved to be wrong! :nono:They have no face to show to the rest of the people. So they disappeared quietly - in case they have really done so.
I cannot fathom who is that 1 out of 21534, but none-the-less I have a different take on the appearance/disappearance/re-appearance scenario.

Although everyone on this forum is a free-customer, that is they do not pay anything to the forum owner, some thought that their contribution in exchange of freebies is so valuable that they can step on everyone else's toes, never mind even if it is the toes of the owner.

Suddenly they took a dislike for the shop keeper boy and insisted that unless the shop owner changes the boy they would not avail themselves of the free goodies from the shop. The shop owner having put up with enough tantrum stood his ground and as a matter of fact pointed out that they can shop for their freebies from other free stores.

Disappointed, some of the shoppers point their fingers here and there at the other free shoppers having brought about this attitudinal change in the owner. The other free shoppers can simply ignore such gestures and continue with their shopping.

It is fool-hardy to participate in such "come back threads" as such threads have ended in vicious exchange of words, at least in the recent past.

# 13. Old is Gold.

The hair was washed with a variety of natural and herbal products in olden times. We had the sikaikkaai which literally means "one best suited for washing the hair"

We had "Arappu" the dry green powder of a soapy leaf. Then there were the usual kadalai maavu, payaththa maavu, menthi powder, the leaves of thaazhi plant, to name a few.

These herbal powders and pastes removed the oil, dirt and made the hair manageable - without drying them up completely.

With the arrival of the convenient shampoo these herbal products were either forgotten or pushed to the background.

The health risks involve in the regular use of shampoo is much more than what you will like to believe.
Here is a report from NewsTarget.co
m.

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health have found a correlation between an ingredient found in shampoos and nervous system damage. The experiments were conducted with the brain cells of rats and they show that contact with this ingredient called methylisothiazoline, or MIT, causes neurological damage.

Which products contain this chemical compound MIT? Head and Shoulders, Suave, Clairol and Pantene Hair Conditioner all contain this ingredient.

Researchers are concerned that exposure to this chemical by pregnant women could put their fetus at risk for abnormal brain development. In other people, exposure could also be a factor in the development of Alzheimer's disease and other nervous system disorders.

The chemical causes these effects by preventing communication between neurons. Essentially, it slows the networking of neurons, and since the nervous system and brain function on a system of neural networks, the slowing of this network will suppress and impair the normal function of the brain and nervous system.

I was just wondering this :

In Sanskrit the root word Stha implies something that stands, that is stationary and sometimes meaning to halt.

Sthaagita means halt/stopped

Sthaapayatu means let it stand or let it be placed.

The passive form of Sthaapayatu is Sthaapyataam...

Now I am starting to wonder if the English word Stop has its origins from the Sanskrit root word Stha after all the word Sthaapayatu sounds very much like Stop.

Can I replace the word "Free shoppers" with "Free loaders" please?

The freeloaders were stamping NOT on the toes of the shop owner and shop keeper but were trampling on their scalps!

They wanted to remodel the shop, appoint a new shopkeeper, chuck out the other questioning free loaders and in general tried to do everything possible - except change the owner- since it just lay beyond their power!?

The people seem to have left but their bitter feelings linger on!

The bitter feelings are sought to be resurrected by these "come back" threads and somehow blame the survivors in this forum to be the "schemers". That is why I consider these "come back" threads as poisonous.

But there have been some good things to come out of the episode too. For one thing, the "ghost readers" myth has been busted. It was invariably pointed out in the past that although one group refused to come out of the well and vociferously opposed the writing of the "enlightened", their "enlightenment" was meant for the "silent readers" who cherished their writings and wanted them to continue the "enlightenment series" . But the "silent readers" choosing to remain invisible and not voice their support even during a crisis was a blow to the "aura" and "charisma" of the new bodhas.

The 'silent readers' remained not only silent but also invisible!

Cool analysis Mr. Narayan! :clap2:

Probably they became really enlightened enough to see the Truth. :)

I am sure the list of similar sounding words with the same meaning is

very long indeed! :bump2:

பெண் என்னும் பாலம்!
(Women's day special)

இரு நதிக் கரைகளை மிக அழகுற
இணைப்பதே நாம் காணும் பாலம்;
இல்லத்தில் உள்ளவர்களை எல்லாம்
இணைப்பவளே பெண் எனும் பாலம்.

தந்தை என்றால் பயம், மரியாதை;
தாய் என்றால் பாசம், உரிமைகள்;

Poisonous to a few, but could be nectar to a few? How would you justify a 5 * to such "come back" threads?Could it be favours in return?

Points to ponder:-

1. Life is combination of the pairs of opposites.

Day and night, heat and cold, white and black, good and bad, to name
just a few of them.

2. God is the personification of justice.
He gives us what we have earned!
Nothing more... nothing less.

3. If education is going to take us farther away from God,
it is much better to remain illiterate and continue trust in Him.

4. Little children teach us the most valuable lesson of our lives.
Surrender to your creators and have freedom from worries.

5. To judge God, we must be greater than Him.
Are we really???

Thoughts on Contentment and the Eternal Now by Swami Kriyananda
  • The more non-attached you can be in yourself the freer you will find yourself to be. The more you completely accept the present, the more energy will be released for you to enjoy the present.

  • How much is lost in life by people who perennially wish things other than they are! Who complain unceasingly, and tell themselves that the world owes them more than it is giving them!

  • Only by living properly right now, at the changeless center of the moment, can we arrive at that point where we exercise complete control over our lives.

  • Contentment has been said to be the supreme virtue. Contents means living behind the present moment.

  • In God, no time exists; there is only now. The illusion of space and time is produced by movements of thought [restlessness]. Without movement, Absolute Consciousness alone would remain.

Dear friend: Please share with us a practice that helps you live joyfully absorbed in the eternal present.

Paramhansa Yogananda, in his poem Samadhi, stated:
Present, past, future: no more for me, but ever-present, all-flowing I, I, everywhere!
Through stillness we experience our unity with creation. The following simple nature meditation can help you unite more with the life and beauty around you.

From a mail forwarded by my elder sister!

God is always around us

A man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a cuckoo bird sang. But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky. But, the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, "God, let me see you." And a star shined brightly. But the man did not see.

So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here." Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away, and walked on.

The man cried, "God, I need your help!" And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement.

But, the man deleted it and continued crying. Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.

I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted.

# 14. Old is gold.

In olden days ladies used to cook in iron pots and pans or the kachchatti - a special stone carved into vessels. It retained the heat for a very long time. The food prepared in it - if not transferred into another vessel remained fresh longer.

There was no fridge to store the left over food and yet people manged quite well without wasting the cooked food.

Now it is "cook for an entire week and push everything into the fridge". Take out, heat, eat the daily portions.

Fresh food is fast becoming a thing of the past. But with the unpredictable power supply, the fridge can hoard and breed harmful bacteria in the food stored in it.

Here is a popular food-myth!

"Heating or reheating foods will kill all food borne disease bacteria."

Proper heating or reheating will NOT kill all bacteria that cause food borne illness. There are some bacteria that produce toxins or poisons that are not destroyed by high temperatures.

One example is the staphylococcus, called staph (pronounced "staff") for short. Staph toxin can develop in cooked foods that sit out at room temperature for more than two hours.

Foods should be quickly heated or reheated to at least 165 degrees F before serving or hot-holding. If the food has been out more than two hours, you might be better off just getting rid of it.

There are two jobs for which a person needs no qualification or degree or training!

1. The role of a politician

2. The role of mother.

A poet is born and can never be MADE.
A politician is also born and can never be MADE!

A woman becomes a mother the moment she gives birth a child. But the real mother is born only when her love for that child is born.

I have a neighbor whose daughter screams in fear and pain everyday at the appointed time "Amma! vendaam! valikkuthu!'

I am not sure which house is the scene of the domestic crime and what is the nature of the crime.

Everybody pretends to be deaf and dumb.

Did the mother suffer similarly when she was a child?

Then it is all the more reason why she should not repeat the performance of her mother!

It is by God's grace that we get good and kind parents. Otherwise life will become one continuous punishment!

Every Mother must be a positive example or role model to her daughter in terms of :
Faithful Wife, Dignified, Forgiving and Self Controlled, Usage of kind words, Gentle,
Good understanding, Patient, Mature, Respectful, Consistent, Compassionate, Moral
Support, Nourisher, Teach and Train, Not easily provoked and above all Godly.
