Procrastination is the thief of time.:clock:

Man wants but little; not that little long.

A God all mercy is a god unjust. :high5:

(So now we understand why God can be
either all mercy and unjust all the time
or all justice and unmerciful sometimes!)

# 18. Old is gold.

In olden times, people used to sit on the floor and eat food from a plate or a plantain leaf. They had to sit cross-legged.

So the plate or leaf was slightly away from them. They had to reach out for the food and eat. This involved slight bending forward. So when the forward bending becomes strained, they would stop eating.

Now we sit on a chair and eat on a table. The plate is very close to us - right below our head. The food passage is, so to say, a free highway from the throat downwards!

So we just keep posting in the food in until the stomach as well the passage up to the throat becomes full. We never realize that we are overeating.

Net result is the growing obesity in both genders in all age-groups.

I am reminded of a popular joke. A and B were conversing after eating a feast.

A told B," I feel really stuffed!"

B told him, "Put two fingers down your throat and try to vomit some food."

A told him, "If I have space for two fingers, I would have eaten two more vadaas".

That is precisely what we are doing without even realizing.

On top of that, sitting on the floor and sitting cross legged have become extinct habits among the younger generation.

Obesity is due to various reasons. The main culprits are the junk food and cheese!

Most of the people eat only 'measured' quantity of food, now a days. :hungry:

Even if people are on limited meals most of the time,

they too have occasional binges I am sure

The point is we never feel or realize that we are overeating!

அது பொட்டுவதற்குள் வயிறு பொட்டிவிடும்!

Having exhausted the fat book of poetic quotation author-wise, now we will shift to the quotations theme-wise.

As far as I can remember I will avoid repeating the quotations, but I want you to remember that I am
also 65 + ( really) and ~ 67( officially) !

Oh boy! Am I that old!!!

An Arab proverb.

It is always a silly thing to give advice,
but to give good advice is absolutely fatal.

Dear Raghy,

If you watch closely, explanation can happen in the form of discussion, making a point, asking questions, getting more clarity etc., but, the amount of Ego involved make a lots of difference, many true understanding happens beyond words, and as we all know words are only a very crude carriers of thoughts, in fact it does more bad than good.

We can also see, that what will probably start as an objective analysis, because of cruel intent, will slowly drift towards subjective criticisms and will slowly deteriorate.

once upon a time I enjoyed those things, but now I am bored of it.

# 19. Old is gold!

In olden times people never worried about the floating population. People were not fussy. They would share the home-made food and sleep happily on a mat using a pillow and a sheet.

During weddings this was a great relief since the kalyana manadapam was good enough for everyone. They enjoyed the company of the other relatives and had a jolly good time.

Now everyone wants an A.C. room in a star hotel. Sharing is out of question! So the expenses get escalated several times both for the bride's side and the groom's side.

My father used to say often: In the olden days people were ready to travel grabbing just a dhothi and a towel and may be a shirt.

They would brush with the neem stick, use the rivers or ponds for bathing and sleep on the floor on a mat or a sheet.

Their needs were very few and they had absolutely no greed!

How much farther have we drifted away from them!!!

Is this a point to ponder for all the members? Or only to Raghy Sir? :noidea:

Dear Visalaksi Ramani madam,

Yes, there is a real onslaught on living with nature and close to nature, but, all attempts to generally slow down the process of detiorating the environment will only end up in the so called " economic slowdown in the growth"

I am keen on getting a group together and select some place where we can live closer to nature, traditionally and in much more peace.

Any takers.

sks

Dear SKS sir,

You have answered to my sister for the question I had asked!

Anyway, there are some senior citizen homes being built with the idea of living close to nature!

Regards........... :)
