.......... we do need someone to be in the same house, just a companion and someone who would care enough to at least give us some headache medicine.. :-)) .......
I feel this thread is getting funnier day by day! Anyway laughter is the best medicine; right??

And, dear Bushu can edit her post as follows:

'we do need someone to be in the same house, just a companion and someone who would care enough to at least

give us some headache
and then medicine..'

:sick: => :biggrin1:

We started off with ego.
We then went through love marriage/arranged marriage discussion
And are now with cooking.
Have we misread the title of the thread as Women domination?

bushu,

without intending to be intrusive, i am somewhat confused by your reference to your, 'ex', brothers in law, maamiyar. the query is, whether there is an 'ex', and a 'current' that you have omitted to mention, and the said bils and mils are related to the current.

otherwise, does it mean, even though the 'ex' is not in the picture, the bil, mil are very much part of your life.

you do not need to answer the query if it is too personal. but the query came, only by chaining your several posts and references therein.

hope you dont mind.

thank you.

One word of appreciation about our chefs of SingArach Chennai has taken the thread to the kitchen!

Never even imagined this swift turn! And, don't give new ideas, dear Bushu! :director:

That is the coooolest attitude, TBS Sir! Be happy to get the tasty thayir chaadam and maavadu!

There are three types of husbands:

1. They don't know to cook, but criticize everyone's cooking!

2. They know to cook and always criticize the wife's cooking!

3. They may or may not know to cook and they neither criticize not appreciate!

So, the ultimate result is that the husbands who appreciate the food are RARE!!

Note: In most of the second 'cases', when the husband takes charge of the kitchen,

it is the wife who clears the mess!! :ohwell:

raji,

i would not generalize such, for in the world of today, i think, there is far more open appreciation and discussion about menu and eat outs.

atleast in the urban environment.

i can safely say, in my group of 60 year old friends, tambram and white, all the men, without fail, know how to cook. also, there is a division of labour - if one partner cooks, the other cleans up. the caricaturized idiot man, who does not know the difference between salt and sugar, i think is a past. hopefully past.

in india, still, men boys are spoilt by their mothers. increasingly girls too, as these focus on studies. so one should not take for granted, that it will be the woman who will do the cooking. it will be done by the one who is most adept at it.

if men do not appreciate their wife's cooking, i think, the wife, can very well demand and get the rightful kind words to provide succour to her hard work. nothing wrong with that.

there are definitely more groups of men, than what you have listed. i think it is a one sided simplistic view of menfolk and their characterestics. we can be as sensitive and understanding, as the best of women. no? i think we can.

What else can I observe, Kunjuppu Sir, living so many years in India and particularly in SingArach Chennai!

I am talking about men, living in India, who are 50 +
I happily watch my dear DIL 'making' my son appreciate the food, prepared by her or me! Hats off to her!! :yo:

From women domination at home to work. Catalyst Research has given the following data:

Women now make up 46.7% of work force in America and hold 51.5% of management, professional and related occupations. Yet only 7.6% of the Fortune 500 top earners are women.
Women make up only 2.6% of Fortune 500 CEOs.

religious data is better. Ardhanarishwar is 50% male and 50% female.

Just presenting one more incident to show how girls reject the prospective grooms, of late!

Girl wants to speak to the boy of her parents choice. Boy says he will visit Sabari Malai temple twice a year.
Girl rejects the boy!! Reason given: He prays the God, who is born to two male Gods!! :faint:

Yeah, what on earth were the gods thinking? But it turned out ok I guess since the son also became a God.
