How to arrest the slide in TB numbers

I would have left this post unanswered . ButI have to reply to this post because by copy pasting (I do not have to say as usual ) a clever attempt has been made to make the brahmin community look like Hitlerite Nazis and South African Apartheid perpetrators. The truth is rather the reverse. Brahmins are treated in this country like the Jews were treated in Germany of Hitler and like blacks in SA under the racist regimes. And the members here know this truth and so I am not going to give examples. Enough to say that we are all victims of the reservation policy which is just another name for apartheid. We all suffer in public places the shame that the jews of Germany suffered. Only difference is that there are no blatant pogroms in India as yet. The days may not be far away. Just as the Jews were segregated from a crowd of citizens by looking at their special identification means (people know what were these), we will be asked to remove our shirts and on the basis of the poonool we may be segregated to be sent to a concentration camp. And some of us may even be sent straight to heaven or hell by filling the crowded van of transport with the exhaust fumes from the vehicle itself. Who knows what is in store. And our friend here is waxing eloquent with his definitions of what is culture. We are the sacrificial goats at the political altar of this majoritarian Indian society. A myth has been created that the mere less than 2% of the population has controlled and enjoyed the privileges of the society by the majoritarian middle castes and our copy pasting experts here would have nothing to say about that. The Jats of Haryana have already proved a point and the trend is scary. And here we have a friend (who calims he is a brahmin) who calls us all racist with his copy pasting skills. I thank our friend here for bringing to the notice of brahmins what all is possible for the majoritarian crowds.

Brahmins were a privileged-if at all it can be called a privilege- class not for nothing. They were privileged because they made sacrifices to remain educated and because they were repositories of knowledge which was useful for the society. While a kshatriya or a vyshya was busy chasing girls to fill his harems, the brahmin of ancient India went to the forest leaving his parents at home, to pursue education and knowledge. The society knew that and honoured them for that. And the society also had several abusive epithets to address brahmins with. He was always a பிச்சைக்கு வந்த பிராமணன். Even today he a poor "ambi" for many.

So it would be better for the member to stop his copy pasting adventures. In case he is unable to resist the temptation he should atleast spend some time reading his final product after finishing the "tough" and "exacting" task.

There is someone who is waiting impatiently to add a thumps down to this post. I do not want to test his/her/her patience any more. LOL.
Someone is suffering from a persecution complex imagining that he will meet the fate of jews in world war2.Brahmins do not require anyone for destruction . They are

capable of self destruction and are rapidly moving in that direction.

Brahmins of 21srt generation are a selfish lot. They get educated to serve themselves. Who would honour them?

Their women do not respect them for what they are.

They are looking for outlets -a free space far away from stifling rituals and control of a paternalistic order where they can be themselves and get educated and work

side by side with men in all fields and excel. The traditional order denies them this space and has to go lock stock and barrel.A liberal society which gives womenfolk

the right to decide on what to do with themselves will eventually be made possible. In that society, they will choose mates without binding of caste , subcaste or birth

stars and opt for shifting their locations where such a way of life is possible. If brahmin boys measure up to the needs of these independant free women, they will get

accepted. Else a generation of brahmin boys will stay single. It is a choice they have to make

This has already strated to happen and one astrolger told me few days back that for 250 male applicants for marriage only 25 female applicants are there .

padikkarathu RaamaayaNam :blabla:

idikkarthu perumaal kovil! :pout:
One more woman has spoken up.

The bitterness and suffocation in having to put up with a totally unjust traditional order which relegates women to a very inferior role comes out vividly.

To say one has to endure as men cannot be cured of their mindsets of treating women badly is damaging to put it mildly.

some are devils quoting the scriptures to justify the existing order.

They are self destructing and do not require outsiders to send them to concentration camps.

There is no complex whatsoever. Dont waste time trying to become a psychiatrist.

It was just a straight and simple reply to another member when an accusation was thrown at brahmins that they are villains. The reply was that they are not villains but they are the victims. There is no need to write a treatise (vyakyanam) for that reply. I do not intend to elaborate.

The rest of the post is just a repetition of whatever has been presented by you umpteen times here.

They are your opinions and you have a right to have them. Please keep them.

Dear Renuka,

A woman does not have to earn her independence. She should be granted it. My remark is also equally about men who will grant independence to women only when she earns. The outside world is rough and tough. I do not think women should be facing such pressures when they can use their acumen to help her family and society in a better way. I believe there should be no pressure on a woman to work. She is better suited to the supervisor of the home. Why be tussling like a man with other men at office when she can boss around her husband at home. But planning for home should be regarded as a very important duty by the society.

Dear Sravna,

Independence need not be be granted..its like our atma..we are born with.

The very first breath a baby takes is the breath of its independent existence.

No doubt I myself prefer to spend more time at home but I do enjoy working too to put some use of my intellect and ability.

As a human I too value my intellect and would like to use it both inside and outside home.

The world is not really a harsh place for women if men stopped dictating what is the best for them!LOL

If both sexes respect each others abilities, strength and weaknesses there would not be any problem.

The best is for everyone to learn from Malala Yousafzai the Pakistani girl who was shot in her head by the Taliban becos she was promoting education for females ..she survived the gun shots and that never broke her spirit and she travels around the whole world with her father who stands by her side in promoting education for children.

Shouldn't the world be so happy that such a gifted brave girl walks this world?

So do you still feel that a woman should only be at home?

What if we females do not agree..what can males do?

The problems faced in today's world are serious and that is the reason people are talking about culture and preserving it. A society which is severed from its culture is as mindless as a robot. Does it know what it is doing? You can talk of values like equality, fraternity and freedom but I doubt even if westerners understand these concepts well.

Take the concept of equality. Is the equality of women with men , in doing what all men can do? How more thoughtless can it get? We need to first cured of aping the west syndrome and begin to use our mind. That alone can be an enduring and satisfactory solution for India and for the women of India.

Dear Renuka,

I am for women being independent and using their intellect. I am not saying that women should not work but in a way there is pleasure than being under pressure. Men are better suited for handling external pressure and I think women handle inner turmoil better.

Dear Sravna,

The same can be asked about men..can men do what women do?

No! Both sexes have their strength and weaknesses..no one is expecting a female to start secreting testosterone and no one is asking a male to start menstruating!

Culture is not static..it has been evolving..how thoughtless can any person get if he/she feels that culture is static?

Tell me how many males still wear Kaupeenam(Komanam)?

The answer that culture evolves lies in the groins itself!LOL No need to search the brain for an answer.

Lets get real.

Complexes have unforeseen effects.

It is their superiority complex that has alienated brahmins from the rest of the population.

It is the cause for the general hatred and specific efforts made to keep them the now-down-trodden-community.

True greatness is be achieved and earned and not merely acquired by birth in a certain caste or religion.

"perumaikkum Enai sirumaikkum thattham karumame kattaLaik kal!"

Actions decide whether a person is great or lowly and not his/ her birth or caste!

Knowledge amassed must be applied to real life - to become useful.

Otherwise it will become a heavy load on the already heavy head.

NOW I ask to be shown one person in the forum who has mastered the scriptures, at a very young

age and yet remains simple and uncontaminated by the power and volume of the vast knowledge

amassed by single minded devotion and sincere efforts against all odds!

That will decide who is a true brahmin and who is not!

Dear Sravna,

There is no such thing as men handle external pressure better than woman and women handle internal pressure better than men..both have their own way of handling situations. Both sexes land up in psychiatric departments when pressure of any kind gets out of control.

Sravna..in another thread you keep saying about spirituality..synergy..having holistic view..see others as self but here you are advocating male dominance.

Koi Connection Nahi Hai Yaar.

Dear Renu,
A close relative of a close relative used to wear a koupenam under his suit.

He accepted wearing the suit but not the brief that goes with it.

So much for our open mindedness and acceptance of the inevitable changes!

All but one are treating me as invisible.

Hope they don't consider me as inaudible too.

I can still speak from there where I will be heard loud and clear! :horn:

You have brought up a good point. Culture is both ideals and practice. Ideals are a constant and do not change with time. Practices change with time. My exhortation is we can and should know how to practice the ideals if the culture has to survive. It is adaptation rather than evolution.

.

Yes Renuka I am being consistent. There is synergy only when complementary things synchronize. Is there a connection in what I say?

See I told you....the answer lies in the groins..when we humans use our heads we seldom see eye to eye.

Exactly!

A male and female complement each other.

For a deep connection there needs to be roles played by both without dominance.

We should not worry too much about the connection. When we do our duty it will automatically happen.

shri vgane,

Would you point out what are the distinct characteristics of TB culture that are different from other mainstream hindu cultures, so that we could all consider it?

Dear VR Ji,

At least he is trying to preserve some part of his dharma...even a small attempt will save one from the gravest situation!

I am reminded of a verse from the Bhagavad Geeta...

nehābhikrama-nāśo 'sti
pratyavāyo na vidyate
svalpam apy asya dharmasya
trāyate mahato bhayāt

"In devotional service there is no loss or diminution, and even a small service rendered in devotional life is sufficient to save one from the greatest danger.

I remember a doctor advising a patient this (Langouti) as remedy for Inguinal Hernia who was unfit for surgery! Does it help Doctor?

That will decide who is a true brahmin and who is not!

Cho Ramaaswamy has written a Novel which later came as a TV Serial titled "Enge Brahmnan?" but there also he could not find a true Brahmnan ( true as per the traditional strict definition of Brahmnan )

shri vgane,

Dear Auh,

My take:

TB culture or not I would like to see the following values in practice in anybody:

1. Honest, truthful but not with a narrow vision
2. Sincere, committed but not thoughtless
3. Empathetic but not sentimental
4. Kind , generous but not gullible
5 Patient, humble, chaste

In summary practicing values and being pragmatic. In general, if a person can understand how to balance these two that is the best we can ask of him/her.

Members can throw a lot more light on the specifics.

Hi Sravna, are these restricted only to TBs? I think not.

Krishji,
You are so right.
In addition to their usual rant, they do not understand the simple statements. At the beginning of my post I made it clear that I was borrowing the paragraph to edit it. I just changed few words. My altered paragraph was very much true in middle ages. Now Brahmins have lost that exalted states. Just as White in SA, and Nazi's in Germany have to accept the reality.
My post did not disparage the present day brahmins in any way. But some members still live in 14th century and in the mirage of "Brahmin Greatness".
